So who's planning on getting the Nexus 4? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Just curious, who's planning on getting the Nexus 4? Also, what are your thoughts on Google not adding expandable SD card slots to their Nexus devices? (I guess to push Google Drive) And also, no LTE chip.
For around $350?
I for one, (because I'm an Android fanatic), do plan on ordering one. (Despite some of the cons listed above) Because of it's specs. Just wanna get a feel for everybody else's thoughts.

just because you're an android fanatic doesn't mean you need to short-sell yourself an android phone that lacks future-proof features...
if it's lacking an sdcard and LTE, then NOPE.

Don't forget it's a lg device

I still think there's a chance we will see a multi nexus launch. However I'm still in the mind set that I need expandable memory and a removable battery, if it lacks either of those it's not for me.

No removable battery or external sd card slot is one thing, but no LTE chip is just ridiculous

LG's lack of features is a breath of fresh air for me...In the way that, I'm not worried about upgrading from my GSIII for awhile. If they introduced a galaxy nexus 2, I would be upset!

LOL the nexus 4 is a poorly planned joke. All they had to do was listen to the community on this one. Obviously Samsung did that when designing the S3. Nonremovable batteries are a must. NO LTE WTF this isn't 2010, it's 2012! No sd card slot either?! .........

I was actually considering it, but if it really has no LTE connectivity, then they're definitely going backwards. Why can't one of the most profitable companies market something that's top of the line?

Yeah that thing bombed! LOL

WeWell if you think about it, for Google to be able to hit that magic $399 pricetag, some things need to get axed. The Galaxy Nexus was $399, and had a slow OMAP processor and lousy camera and cheapy build quality. Google and LG probably thought about it and moved their priorities around a bit. All those three things are being addressed. You get the latest S4 Pro quad-core, decent 8MP camera, and "much better than Samsung" build quality. The sealed battery and no MicroSD is Google's own deliriums, so you can't blame LG for that. That really only leaves the LTE chip that can be axed to save money, since they are still expensive. This is primarily an unlocked world phone that accepts SIM cards. Most of the world doesn't have LTE yet. The ones that do have spotty coverage. And honestly you will notice the faster quad-core browser rendering more than the increased data speed. A phone can only render so fast. I've had 20Mbps cable and 3Mbps dsl and for daily surfing purposes, they aren't that different, since websites are designed for that lower tier. On a phone, the faster browser would make the bigger difference. Not to mention the battery life saved. I think it's a smart move. Right now, I don't even have a data plan, so I Wifi hop everywhere and the $$$ saved from having to buy a $600+ LTE phone with the latest processor/screen combo is just a no-brainer. It caters to my needs especially.

Being a previous owner of a Sensation and Amaze 4G, there's not enough going on with the HTC One to make the jump. Besides, it's a dumb-down version of the One X.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a dumbed down version. The One S will have the new S4 Krait chip which though not quad core, handily beats the Tegra 3 (int'l One X) in recent bench markings.
Plus, it is built on 28nm process technology which will reduce power consumption.
I dont think ill be getting that phone their isnt enought new features on it for me to wanna upgrade from my S2 just yet,, also really dislike the fact their is no sd slot. I have also had the HTC sensation 4g and a Mytouch 4g slide. The One S just isnt different enough....

I hate to say it, but the Nexus 4 is REALLY tempting me. Even though I just got this phone 3 months ago and it is by NO means out dated, some part of me wants to sell my S3 and get the N4 without spending any extra money at all. Same as s3 mini a smaller budget friendly version of a popular device. The plus will probably fall to the low mid range devices similar to the level of the transform or moment or galaxy rival etc.

So with that said, do you think we'll still get some JB?

We will see JB. Just a matter of when.
(Sprint & Sammy aren't doing all these test builds for no reason...)

Yea what garwynn said, sammy isnt gonna put resources into a build just to abandon it before its released. They will either push it out as is or keep working on it til they're ready to release

I didn't think they were, it just confused me as to why they would throw another version of the phone out with less storage, and JB out of the box, but I didn't think if it they way evil put it.

I'm not sure why but it's probably because they got left over parts they never put to use so they probably just slap them together into a mid range phone and make whatever they can out of the parts they wouldn't be able to get rid of anyways. Just my thought... if you can scrap older parts or left overs into a device you can use to sell via a carrier on a contract for 50 to 100$ maybe even free, why not?
Maybe looking to corner the market on pre-paid carriers with the left-over parts as mentioned before. Also, with apple rumors on a lower cost iphone for overseas markets, maybe this will be marketed as the H2H competitor.
We got Jelly already anyway so who cares? I mean if FL16 isn't good enough for a daily I don't know what is.

HTC did this with the Evo. Made the Evo Design, then dropped the HTC Evo Lte

So why is this called Plus? Seems the same as the SII but with less storage? Same screen size, same camera's, both are dual core. Why would you go with this over a a SII?
I guess the positives of it rocking nearly the same hardware is that if the older S2 models don't get 4.2.x updates... the S2 + will be a sign of hope.

Looks like the price will be around $450usd (if its priced similarly to other countries by exchange rate) so itll be a lower mid range device on par with s3 mini slightly higher price than s3 and lower than prevail. So on contract it should come in between $99 and free(if it goes to us carriers that arent prepaid)

Who the hell knows. Probably size constraints cdma devices have alot more crap inside them than gsm does. International phones have one gsm hspa+ 21 or 42 antenna vs cdma has a 1x/3g plus wimax or 1x separate 3g and wimax. Then theres all the other parts in there wifi antenna bluetooth SoC RAM etc nfc chips are actually quite big. The s3 has it built into the battery because of that and the note 2 has it built into the battery cover with connectors that press against leads on the back housing
Edit: it also has a very limited range like maybe 2" MAX so it cant be embedded in the device it needs to be almost at the surface to prevent interference from the other hardware. Its range is so limited it wont eve work thru some phone cases

Ah curse cdma. The one thing I don't like about them is the fact that there is no sim card, that makes everything so much easier when switching phones.

Yeah tell me about it. Even the s3 and note2 have embedded sims that cant be swapped. I'll take a pic of the nfc on my note in a min so u can see what im talking about with size and placement. I just need to strip my case off and the battery cover

I know this is off topic, but what is the majority of the code used for android? Java? Plus it looks like things like scripts are done in C, but I'm just wondering.
