Can't preview any photos when plugged into computer - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So when I plug my S3 with a USB cord and try to view my photos, I can't preview any of them, I have to manually click each one to see the picture. Is there a way so I can see all of them at once so I can choose which ones I want? I've tried MPT and PTP mode and neither shows me the preview. This is all I get. I've tried updating Kies & that just made it worse & not read my entire phone at all so I removed Kies. Also I can't even get the phone to show up on my Mac, when I plug it into my MBP nothing just pops up. So for now I"m using Airdroid to view all my photos so I'm able to choose which ones I want to drag to my comp but it would be nice to be able to do it from windows explorer since that's much faster. I'm on stock rooted rom 4.04 with all the bloatware removed using titanium backup

I don't know much about Mac's but I know with Windows 7 the only way to see thumbnails is to use Kies or remove your SDCard and mount it directly (assuming you are saving images to your card). Even though the MTP protocol supports thumbnails, Microsoft's implementation of it in Win7 doesn't (and based on your post, I'm guessing Mac doesn't either).
Let's hope that Windows 8 (and the next Mac OS) do a better job with MTP.

I hope this bumps the thread :\

I gave up trying to use my mbp. As for windows best bet is just moving them all to your HDD.

[Q] Not working drivers

Hey everybody.
At first I wanna say that i've flicked through some topics and none of them helped so I decided to get this thread.
I wanted to root my nexus 7, so I used wugu nexus root toolkit. Everything was done, device seems to be rooted etc. But I wanted to connect it to my pc and there's no response. I want the MTP mode back when there was a cute Nexus 7 icon at my computer. Okaay. So then I wanted to connect my Galaxy S running CM 10.1 (usb storage mode) aaaand no response ! The thing is that gt-i9000 is visible in devices

When I connect Nexus 7 it says that Android ADB interface is an older device and cannot be connected to usb 3.0. Alright, so I connected it to usb 2.0 and Nexus 7 shows up at the bottom of the devices in the unassigned devices,
I remember before I rooted the device and installed drivers from the toolkit, in device manager there was a Nexus 7 device instead of now "Android Device - Android ADB Interface". Can you help me get things fixed ? I'm running out of time because I'm leaving my country soon for a long time and I wanted to prepare both of my devices...
Oh and if that helps, I run windows 8 x64 on my laptop. I know some people may say that this is the reason but before i rooted nexus, everything had worked fine.
Thanks in advance !
Try and switch mode to camera instead of mtp device under storage.

new nexus 7 user with some questions

Hello, I've had my 32gb since Jan 10 and I have some questions. Is this normal for an IPS display? It seems fpse won't see my 64gb USB stick. Works fine when ROMs are in internal. Is there some way to tell fpse to check external storage? Would Google play movies and ota work if I'm rooted? Came from Toshiba Thrive which is ancient now.

Ok, so, as far as I know, there's a problem with FLO devices that can't read USB Sticks via OTG Cables.
There's 2 ways to make USB devices work:
1. BUY the app "Nexus Media Importer" from Google Play (and when I say buy I mean you can't hack it, it verifies its' licence with the server, no matter how you patch it)
OR
2. Root your device and install "StickMount" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.stickmount). It will mount your USB Drive and create a new folder in "Internal Memory/sda1/blablabla".
Hope this helped!
If it's just a matter of what dragancia sad, then it's very easy if you use StickMount. External storage gets mounted under /sdcard/usbStorage, and most apps should be able to access. I've never used fpse and can't tell you if needs files to be in a specific directory, like the Kindle app does. Nor have I ever used Nexus Media Importer.

[Q] In MTP mode, folders doesn't show entirely

but it should appear these folders
what should i do? I've installed and uninstalled the driver several times...
and when i transfer Music folder, it say 'this kind of files could not be able to operate in your device. copy them anyway?'(sorry for my bad english. it was written in korean)
I transfer those files anyway and those file could be able to play in my device. what is the problem?
these error are driving me crazy...
Don't worry about the compatibility error. As long as you have an app that will play the file you will be fine.

Take a look at my post here, it might help. Might try a different usb cable also.
Yeah the cable might be the problem

You have no problem with your cable or drivers. This is a bug known about for a long time - I don't know if it has been addressed in the latest beta release. See: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=38282

Use Nexus as a monitor (kind of)

I know you can use the N7 as a second monitor or even a PC itself. I wanted to ask a question slightly more out there.
Is / would it be possible to output system (PC) stats to display on the N7? I have a Logitec G15 v1 keyboard that has the LCD screen on it that runs little apps on it. My N7 can sit right up over the top of it and act as a bigger and better screen. I would like to know if it was doable to run an apk to display those programs, or something like it pulling info from the PC along with maybe some other useful PC info. Kind of like running RainMeter but instead of on the PC have it display everything on the android via Blutooth, USB, or WiFi?
The things you mentioned are definitely doable, hell, the sky is the limit. It's another matter of who will make these apps.
Figured I would update this because I found what I was looking for and if there is anyone else wanting something like it, here you go:
This app has everything I wanted and more. Its perfect. And its FREE!

Just for the sake of archives: you can use the Nexus 7 as a secondary monitor of a Linux by using VNC. http://askubuntu.com/questions/28608/how-do-you-use-an-android-tablet-as-a-second-display

You can do something like that in Windows too and there is plenty of info on that already, but what I was looking for was live system stats. Not an actual secondary monitor. I wanted to be able to keep an eye on CPU/GPU temps and fan speed along with other stats.

Trouble transferring files to PC

Hey all!
So, i'm trying to get some videos from my phone to the PC to edit, but when i plug it in and enable file transfer on the phone side, i get this on the PC and no other drives pop up.

I don't know what the program is, but i tried running it and nothing happened. I tried compatibility modes, and it always closes itself right after running. Judging by the androidfiletransfer.dmg, i guess it's a similar program for PC. I got no clue what it is even after some fruitless escapades on DuckDuckGo and Google.
Anyone know what this program is so i can get these stupid files to my PC, or better yet, get the phone to act like every other android phone when plugged in?
I'd rather not have to upload the 20+ gigs worth of files to google drive.
Thanks!
Sorry, I don't have a solution, but I thought I'd at least let you know I have the same problem. This is the only android I've ever had that won't just share the internal storage via MTP quickly and easily with my Linux laptop. When plugged in it either does nothing or shares that folder you screenshotted when you poke enough settings. I've never got MTP to work right. Even adb is a hold your mouth just right kind of exercise with my TA-1045.
My workaround is to either adb pull (unreliable, see above) or upload anything I want to share to an SMB share on a desktop I use as a file server, then download it from that share to the laptop. Not all that different than what you're suggesting except I don't get a cloud service involved, so my speeds are probably way better.
For an android one device, this phone's software really, really sucks.
I have my Nokia for about a year and I never plugged it to my computer via USB
I use "FTP Server" app on my Android devices, and on PC I have "Total Commander", I transfer everything via Wi-Fi.
