Hurricane Sandy may have put the kibosh on Google's gala in New York City, but it's not stopping the company from taking the wraps off of its latest pure Android phone. LG's Nexus 4 is finally official, after a cavalcade of leaks that spelled out just about everything ahead of time. As for the official specs? We're looking at a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus display (1,280 x 768), an 8 megapixel rear camera, Gorilla Glass 2, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM and the latest rendition of Google Now. Naturally, turn-by-turn navigation via Google Maps is included, as are 3D Maps, Street View and Indoor Maps. The Nexus 4 will be sold (at least initially) unlocked, supporting some 200 carriers that play by the GSM / HSPA+ rules. It'll be made available in both 8GB and 16GB versions starting November 13 in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Australia, with pricing set for $299 (8GB) / $349 (16GB). The 16GB version will also be available through T-Mobile for $199, with a 2-year contract

Hurricane Sandy might be making her unwelcome tour of the Eastern Seaboard, but that won't abate Google's new product launch. It's announcing the Nexus 10, a 10.1-inch tablet (that appears to be based on the similarly-sized Galaxy Tab 2 10.1) that'll top out the company's range of in-house flagships. While Google's Andy Rubin hasn't gone into extreme detail just yet, he has said that it'll be packing a 2,560 x 1,600, 300 ppi display. The device promises to crank out nine hours of continuous video playback and 500 hours of standby, with a pair of front-facing stereo speakers and, best of all, Android 4.2.
Those specifications match those that were leaked late last week, which also stated that we can expect to find a dual-core, Cortex A15-based, 1.7GHz Samsung Exynos 5250 inside. Keep looking, and we'll see 2GB of RAM, NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 5-megapixel, rear-facing camera. It'll be available from November 13th on Google Play in the US, UK, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Canada and Japan -- with the 16GB edition costing $399 and the 32GB version setting you back $499..

Any 4.2 sources out yet ?

Don't wanna sound harsh here but..
Who cares about Verizon and their locked down network ?
The last "nexus" on verizon isn't even a real nexus. Just the same hardware and Verizon policies.

I'm ready to throw my Samsung out the Window. That price point is just stunning, Google has officially won my heart.... And my wallet!

Lol why fanboy? Dont get mad at me if there isnt a CDMA version. Besides, the world moves with GSM and verizon didnt do a great job with the galaxy nexus.

who would buy the more expensive optimus G or the One X or even the S3, google is really forcing all OEMs to lower their price

Because that is exactly how you are acting. It is nothing but selfish to think that things are better off by excluding such a major carrier.

It's actually 42mbps. That's a typo on the page. Sources all over have confirmed that it is 42mbps pentaband HSPA+. And not just the one being sold by T-Mobile, the unlocked Play Store model too (they're both the exact same hardware).

Galaxy Nexus Carriers & prices?

I've seen all manner of speculation on the subject of which carriers, specifically, are going to be carrying the Galaxy Nexus, but the majority of it is conflicting reports.
Does anyone have good links or intel on where the Nexus will be available, carrier-wise?
http://www.unlocked-mobiles.com/sim...s-sim-free-unlocked-mobile-phone-p-83950.html
512.98£ but managed to get it preordered for 480£ next day delivery.
Hope they will not increase the price on me
The US dollar has dropped so much in value that everything in the EU will look very expensive. We also have higher VAT than you do (25% in Sweden).
$1 ~= 6.65 SEK according to Google. When all things are added we usually pay something like your dollar price with a conversion rate of 10, instead if 6.65.
In summary, the prices listed above is somewhere around what we paid for the previous Nexus-phones. Your prices are likely to not take the low currency value into account, like most other electronics.
OK I am going to just throw my two cents in.
This phone should technically work on all four US carries. (Verizon, Sprint, Att, and TMobile).
As for the LTE coverage I am not sure about Att's LTE spectrum matching with Verizon.
But the planned Sprint LTE spectrum and Verizon's does not match.
That just means that the first version of the SGN would not support LTE on Sprint.
The GSM version of the phone should work on both the ATT and TMobile networks.
I hope that the SGN comes to all four major carries as Apple is already on four US carries. (Att, Verizon, Sprint, and C Spire "Soon").
I have Sprint and would get this phone as soon as it was available.
I would not switch networks just for a phone.
Agreed, the move to Yamaha was probably the only regression in an otherwise great phone.
According to supercurio from today's Engadget article its a Texas Instruments TWL6040. How this compares to the Wolfson DAC I do not know.
I really hope its good because I am very satisfied with the sound quality out of my Nexus S with voodoo sound and good IEMs. I use my phone more as a GPS and PMP than as a phone.
Anyone have experience with Expansys? I placed a pre order with them just to have it in. I'm not even sure if that's for a LTE or GSM one, but I hope it's GSM haha.

I think Google will show T-Mobile some love. Look at the history they have together: The first US Android phone was released on their network and both Nexus branded phones were also released with T-Mobile exclusivity before branching out to other networks. I doubt it'll enjoy the same nod that Google showed them in the past with temporary exclusivity, but I highly doubt they'll be left in the dark for more than a few weeks to a month at most.

Waiting eagerly for an Indian launch date.
imo u will wait 4 atleast 3-4 months. i m an indian n currently in us, returning on nov 20th, so i will buy 4m the us, unlocked.
Hardware Change?
Will there be a change in hardware for indian version of Galaxy Nexus?
I don't think so that there will be any change in hardware of Galaxy Nexus for Indian version. Indians may get the device in some were early next year.
Didn't Samsung release SGSII quite early for Indians or is that just an illusion? And generally Indian phones are same as world wide GSM ones.
Hardware Change: LTE Radio
Those phones which are going to be released in the stateside will carry LTE 4G radio, whereas it is not required in our country, we do not have even consistent 3G signal even in our cities.
So i am expecting a 16GB version of SGN with no LTE radio in it.

Hope we will get a date soon..
I think it is Google's fault that the launch is getting delayed. The device is obviously ready but since it is a nexus they want to launch it first in US. Samsung is ready to launch it I think, like how they launched the S2 many months before the US launch. But I think the price will be a big shock. Nexus S is overpriced to date, by at least 5000 over similar spec phones. I think this one will be priced 10000 more than a Galaxy S2.

What..??? 10000 More?? I dont think they can sell it with that price range. Current market price of SGS II in india is 28K - 30K (though Sulekha is selling at 25K). You Add 10000 to it, boom.. 38 -40 K.
Samsung / Google should limit the price to a max of 32-33 K, other wise they will loose the potential buyers. If that is the case, i will wait for another 3-4 months, for some other ICS model from either HTC/LG / Sammy.

Gnexus Sales...

Hi, anyone knows haw many GNexs have been sold worldwide??
I'm just curious...
You really believe someone here has that number?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Some people extrapolated a very rough number based on the ICS market share % of all Android numbers a while back (when the Galaxy Nexus was the only ICS device).
You could dig that up, but there are no solid numbers for this.
OK, is just a question... because stadistics of Iphone and SGII sales are everywhere...
Thanks...
Most of the time when sales numbers are released for a specific device it's because they sold a boat load of them and are bragging.
My guess is that the sold Galaxy Nexus is number is nowhere near the SGSII and 4s.
They won't release figures for the Galaxy Nexus because it would be embarrassing.
the reason why they probably haven't sold a boatload is because of the price, it's truly ridiculous if they undercut the price of the S2 they would have sold much much better

Yes, sell a brand new phone for less than an old phone...
And the only reason why it was so expensive in the US is because the GSM model had to be imported, which increases the price quite noticeably. In the rest of the world it wasn't any more expensive than other high end phones.

I would rather wait a few weeks for a new Nexus.
I just grabbed a gnex last week. For 349.00 it was a good deal IMO. The hardware is still relevant and pretty snappy.
Not to say I wouldn't grab the next iteration if it was priced right although I believe it will probably be somewhere in the 600 range. Wasn't that the price of the unlocked Google gnex last year?

$349 when it reached U.S. markets. When it was outside U.S. markets it was ~$700 - $649 before it had to be imported internationally.
VZW users got it for $199 on two-years with ~$529ish off contract but is incompatible with GSM networks
Galaxy Nexus will still be relevant after the next Nexus device comes out. The Nexus S is still relevant, it has good developer support.
wait for the new nexus device made by LG, it will be released within a month or two.
If not, the current nexus (Galaxy nexus) is sufficient.
i would probably wait another month or so if/when the new Nexus comes out. If you don't like it, the Galaxy Nexus will be even cheaper at that time.

Why do you want a U.S. retailer when you are located in India? Not many big known 'retailers' sell GSM Galaxy Nexuses in stores. Maybe the local random shops. They are normally distributed online, but in that case why don't you order it from someone near you or in Europe? Less shipping costs.
Please do some research beforehand as you haven't done much researched before posting this thread thinking that Nexus Q was a phone. We're just here to answer your question but you need to do at least put effort into answering them on your own. If you find it confusing or whatever, then ask. And if any of us helped you out please press the thanks button.
Who knows maybe the current nexus will actually be taken off the market due to the Samsung vs Apple case that keeps going on. Apple has filed a case against the current nexus and the SG3 I believe...& i don't think they will give the new phone a $350 value they will def start it off around $700 get sales and gradually drop it down till the $350 mark as they did with the current..
I don't think it will come out till December anyway (just in time for the holidays) so if you can't wait till then I suggest you just buy this...
Sell your current phone + when the new nexus comes out you can sell this GNex for atleast a $100-$200 which is not bad at all. The previous nex still goes for $100 which is amazing.

OP lives in India not in America. That case will take ages to settle, by the time it finalizes. The next Nexus device will be out done by HTC, LG, Samsung, Motorola and it'll become irrelevant.
It was $700 because it was imported from Europe and had a monopoly, Off-contract in Europe and places were never $700ish. Prices started to stabilize and go for ~$529ish on Newegg at that point and then Google revived the store and sold the GN for $350. Rumored was that LG Nexus is starting out at 8GB, so you're wrong that there won't be a "value" Nexus device.
The difference this time around will be that Google will sell it through their Play Store stabilizing prices from day one. Google wants people to have their Nexus devices, not to make a extreme profit -- hence, $99 Nexus tablet? $199-$249 Nexus 7 tablet with $25 play store credit? they're not that greedy.
& I stand corrected...
but I still do not believe that they will release a 8gb device...If anything that will be a media player? not a phone as Samsung has been doing lately...
You make me feel like I made a bad decision now lol I am suppose to get my nexus in the mail today
I live in India too. You can't use Sprint or Verizon. If you want to buy it, you'll have to buy the unlocked GSM variant from he Google play website. Although this won't be available from India. If you have a friend in the US, ask him to order it for you. That's what I did, and I'm loving it

And the reason for the low sales is Sammie keep on pi**ing of their loyal customers by not updating products with timely software releases and releasing new products with no clearly defined update strategy and full of bloatware.
They released the S series within 6 months of the Pro series thereby making all existing buyers machines redundant, did the same a few years back with the P6800 (which they then just stopped releasing updates for).
The shame of it is they do some things so well, they just have no co-ordinated strategy regarding product ranges.
Actually the Wifi version has 32GB internal now.
http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/mobile-phone/tablet/tablet/SM-T700NTSEXSA
So maybe there will be 32GB version for LTE too.
Samsung shouldn't release 16GB as a standard version in first place for this beast.
AT&T starts pre-orders for LTE variants of Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwsPGGvR8
Based on supported LTE bands, this appears to be a different model than the T-705 that is kicking around. I wonder if ATT would sell me one unlocked if I paid full device price.

Well, they will sell it without a contract, but based on prior experience and their pricing, i don't want an AT&T account - I'm not so sure they will sell me one unlocked, even for the full $629 or however much it is. Being Samsung and AT&T it would require instant root to dump all of the bloatware as well.
