Galaxy Nexus Carriers & prices? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've seen all manner of speculation on the subject of which carriers, specifically, are going to be carrying the Galaxy Nexus, but the majority of it is conflicting reports.
Does anyone have good links or intel on where the Nexus will be available, carrier-wise?

http://www.unlocked-mobiles.com/sim...s-sim-free-unlocked-mobile-phone-p-83950.html
512.98£ but managed to get it preordered for 480£ next day delivery.
Hope they will not increase the price on me

The US dollar has dropped so much in value that everything in the EU will look very expensive. We also have higher VAT than you do (25% in Sweden).
$1 ~= 6.65 SEK according to Google. When all things are added we usually pay something like your dollar price with a conversion rate of 10, instead if 6.65.
In summary, the prices listed above is somewhere around what we paid for the previous Nexus-phones. Your prices are likely to not take the low currency value into account, like most other electronics.

OK I am going to just throw my two cents in.
This phone should technically work on all four US carries. (Verizon, Sprint, Att, and TMobile).
As for the LTE coverage I am not sure about Att's LTE spectrum matching with Verizon.
But the planned Sprint LTE spectrum and Verizon's does not match.
That just means that the first version of the SGN would not support LTE on Sprint.
The GSM version of the phone should work on both the ATT and TMobile networks.
I hope that the SGN comes to all four major carries as Apple is already on four US carries. (Att, Verizon, Sprint, and C Spire "Soon").
I have Sprint and would get this phone as soon as it was available.
I would not switch networks just for a phone.

Agreed, the move to Yamaha was probably the only regression in an otherwise great phone.
According to supercurio from today's Engadget article its a Texas Instruments TWL6040. How this compares to the Wolfson DAC I do not know.
I really hope its good because I am very satisfied with the sound quality out of my Nexus S with voodoo sound and good IEMs. I use my phone more as a GPS and PMP than as a phone.

Anyone have experience with Expansys? I placed a pre order with them just to have it in. I'm not even sure if that's for a LTE or GSM one, but I hope it's GSM haha.

Expansys seems to expensive... much cheaper to order over seas and have them ship here. 779$ vs 680 $ from UK retailers.

all these preorder sites are for the GSM version of the device right?..

It will not cost that much in the US though. Expect somewhere around $529-$550 most likely. I explained this above.

Yah, their expensive, but I'm assuming they will adjust their price once the true price is reveiled.
I was just curious about how their customer service and shipping is, if anyone has ordered from them.

I think Google will show T-Mobile some love. Look at the history they have together: The first US Android phone was released on their network and both Nexus branded phones were also released with T-Mobile exclusivity before branching out to other networks. I doubt it'll enjoy the same nod that Google showed them in the past with temporary exclusivity, but I highly doubt they'll be left in the dark for more than a few weeks to a month at most.

I think so too. By looking at the introduction and specs it shows a model "T"... GT-I9250T. Like our Nexus S for T-Mo is the GT-I9020T.

i'm about to hit the checkout button on expansys-usa. i just don't see a gsm version officially hitting the states until probably february and it'll probably be only 16gb version. what's a tech addict supposed to do?
Do what I did and click Check out.
Give in. I did. We can sell the 16 when the 32 or the SGS3 hits. I was tired of waiting and you only live once. Enjoy!
Just got mine from there and its bad ass my friend. Sorry I can't help you here.

lmao. some friends you are. if this was a crack pipe, somebody would be lighting the lighter, holding the pipe, holding my head and punching me in the gut.
I was in the same boat. I had the order screen up, staring at the pay button. Finally I just effin pressed Pay now. I sold my GS2 and paid a good chunk more for this phone. It arrived today. It seriously is the most amazing phone I've ever used. I have an iPhone 4 now for work and a GS2 before it for personal. The combo of ICS and this beautiful device just make for an awesome out of box experience. If you really want it, if you keep looking up stuff about it and thinking about it...buy it. You won't regret it.
it doesn't help i've already bought a mhl adapter, 6" rt angle to rt angle 3.5mm cable, screen protector, tpu case for it and an otg cable.
no GSM until February ? Why ffeb? There is not an official release date for the GSM. No one knows if come Monday Google will announce a date.
Youre gonna buy it now for $750 and watch next week its for sale for $550 from Google

My GNEX arrived this morning and it's easily the best tech purchase I've made in a long time.

I would say your best bet is to at least wait for the release in Canada and then import it from Canada. You'll probably get a better deal that way. The official release date in Canada is Dec.8 and that's just a matter of less than two weeks so I would say wait until then and see if there is any more news on the GSM version in USA, and if not, import it from Canada for a smaller price
EDIT: Actually, either way the unlocked Galaxy Nexus from Bell is $649 without tax so with taxes and duty fees etc. its probably going to amount to the same price. Lol, I guess that was no help after all

Ok, I'll play devil's advocate for this thread. I happen to be one that really wants this phone as well, however I am going to wait just a little while longer for any rumors that it will be available 'legitimately' in the US for GSM. A few thoughts Im having:
- Warranty. If I were to buy from Negri, Handtec etc, while they most likely would assist in getting my device fixed, it would still take probably 2-6 weeks and 9 months down the road they may not be as helpful to expedite it. Also, they may give you a loaner phone, otherwise you would have to provide that while you're phone is in the shop.
- I have a feeling the US based GSM phones will be $599 for 16gb. While its only $100 less than buying it right now, I figure its worth the small wait.
- While I believe everyone's opinion over this phone, I also wanted to at least see a Verizon version of the device at a Best Buy just to make sure.
I have gone through a lot of android devices lately and hoping to find the right fit for me. Assuming the Nexus is, I hope to own it for at least 18 months. For others, feel free to refute me and maybe I'll be suckered into buying now as well
I'm one of the unlucky Handtec people still waiting on my pre-order and I would still hit the checkout button even with the foreknowledge of this. It's one of the few phones out there where the hardware and software are working together rather than the multitude of phones that are indeed hardware powerhouses but have the OS slapped on seemingly as an afterthought.

Worth it to wait and see if HSPA+ version drops in the US?

Is it worth it to wait and see if the GN drops in the US? Right now I can get one from Handtec for ~$696, but if it dropped here would it really be priced any cheaper? It's set to be Canadian$650 (~$636 in American monies), would it be priced maybe around $600 if it's released here? Maybe even less?
Or, is the HSPA+ version even going to come out stateside? All I've been hearing about is the CDMA/LTE version.
Insight?
Canadian version is only US$ 636???
if that is true I will definitely buy one!

I debated this for a long long time. Then my N1 had it's usual set of daily hiccups, and I had it. So I bought one. It's a great gadget, and almost worth the $700 I paid.
But, if you're okay with your current phone, stick it out and wait. It won't go up in price.
Early adopters never get rewarded. Only screwed with headaches.

If you go to Canada and buy it outright you're going to be paying local taxes in the 10%-15% range, and either paying to convert your USD or pay a foreign transaction fee on your credit card... and you're still gonna pay $700 out the door, just like ordering from the UK importers.
If/when it does come to the US unlocked I'd expect it in the $550 range. Just depends how much you wanna pay to get it now.

Sometime last week, an AT&T version passed through the FCC, with HSPA+. Just about a month or so ago, AT&T was asking customers (on twitter, I believe) who would be interested in the device on their network. Seems like they listened.

Would it still be the same penta-band GN? If it's just AT&T bands that also doesn't help me.

The FCC only has to worry about the bands that will be used in the states, which is 850/1900. No reason why they'd make a specific version with a quadband radio to only work on AT&T and not T-mobile. Its more expensive than just using the current pentaband version that's available and putting an AT&T battery cover on it.
I'll give it two weeks. If it doesn't come to the US in a T-Mobile friendly version I'm getting myself one for the holidays from across the pond.

As the article says, just because it works on bands here and is passed through the FCC doesn't mean it will be sold here. Any phone that could be used on a carrier here needs to pass the FCC. The i9250 is the version being sold overseas right now.

I think if you cant wait, you should get it from handtec or clove. they ship to usa and their prices dont include taxes for shipping to usa (i think, from what i have read and seen). the price is £445 including shipping, which is less than 700 usd.

Because from pretty much every angle, the Nexus One sales tactic was a failure. They partnered with Verizon this time to get bigger sales and exposure, and because of that we're not seeing it sold unlocked unfortunately.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250 Titanium Silver 16GB 3G/GSM $759.99 from Newegg

16GB version for sale from Newegg for $759.99
I tried posting on Slickdeals.net to let more people know there's a reputable option now to purchase a Galaxy Nexus but my thread's in the process of getting flamed for the price. I guess there are too many people out there that don't understand what a handset actually costs at retail.
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
UMTS 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 MHz
LTE 700
This phone pretty much covers all bases except for CDMA in the United States!
Well it isn't a slickdeal. Lol. Maybe if Amazon had them for .01
Full retail price will get flamed.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
Having good customer value and being a slick deal are way different things.
Us SDers are just looking for crazy deals! Heck, many times I haven't realized how much I may value something until I see a deal that is just too good to pass up. Then I create the value within after the impulse purchase.
Get this phone down to below standard carrier subsidization costs and it will make SD.

Yep, no tax in my state. Newegg shipping is always super fast for me, too. Guess I'm willing to take a risk of warranty to shop with somewhere I'm familiar with.
Newegg appears to offer their own insurance for $60 for 1 year for the Galaxy Nexus, which also covers accidents. Not sure if there's a deductible though.

I would try negri or expansys. You will have warranty through them. You will NOT have warranty with newegg or amazon. And I also suggest waiting till February and see if the 32GB comes out. 16gb version price will probably go down. You might find a good deal on a slightly used one from somebody unloading to get a 32GB nexus aaaaand, it gsm version might officially be released in the USA and then it will be safer to buy through newegg or amazon. Anyways, buying through newegg or amazon right will only only allow the exchange/return period as your warranty. Not good if you ask me.
My grandma beat me down and took my nexus. Sent from a jitterbug with beats by dre.
All GSM phones come unlocked.
Newegg, Negri, Expansys are all good choices. Can't really go wrong with either three.
I personally bought mines from Negri (look for coupons if any exist and you can get a good % off)
Keep in mind that the white GN and GSM 32GB GN is coming out at the end of February (or so) if you're interested in that.
Pretty much what rbiter said.
personally i recommend negri electronics. they're one of the best places to get it. also currently the cheapest. and they honor the years warranty from samsung at no extra cost. they also include a US adapter.
i bought mine from them.
also, keep in mind that the 32GB version is coming in a little over a month, so if you need more than 16, you might want to wait.

Adapter? I ordered mines and didn't come with an adapter. Worked in the wall just fine. I had a yakjuxw build. You might of gotten the UK version so it needed a US adapter, that's probably it.
But regardless, Negri has great customer support + fast shipping. Would buy again, take a look at them. Definitely the cheapest and google around for a coupon (as I mentioned before.. you might save some more!)
I purchased mine from Negri. Had a problem with the first unit, would not recognize my SIM card. Had to pay for a second unit to be shipped while I sent the first one back. Sent the original back in the same box the next day, never even opened the headset or charger. They told me would only take 10 to 12 days for them to issue the credit on the device. They received it on December 19th still no credit and they are not responding to my emails. Now I have to dispute through my c/c company. As far the second part of the question, my GNex works great on TMOUSA! I have not had any issues with the phone working on their system and the speeds are pretty good, not LTE good but still good. I'm getting over 7Mbps down and upper 1's up, I'm outside Philadelphia.

I purchased mine from Negri. Had a problem with the first unit, would not recognize my SIM card. Had to pay for a second unit to be shipped while I sent the first one back. Have you tried contacting them via Twitter? they usually have great customer support. I'm not sure what's up but I'm sure they'll fix you right up.

I haven't tried twitter but I will thanks for the suggestion. The reason I bought from them was positive reviews from other buyers. Kind of pissed at them though, 3 emails unanswered and I'm out $750 waiting for them to respond...

You could also give them a call,
Toll Free: (888) 358-6358 x 0
(888) 358-6358 x 4 (Accountant Office)
Most likely closed today but tomorrow should be fine. Also seems that their Twitter customer support is still active today, so that might be your best bet, seem to be very friendly and helpful.

I'm looking to buy a Galaxy Nexus GSM and was wondering if anyone found any for a really cheap price (around $550 or below). Thanks.

It's $595.50.
Keep an eye out for coupons. They've killed most of em but I bought my CAN model and got a $30 off coupon. $565.50 shipped was an amazing price.
$450, BNIB from Craigslist
You'd be fortunate to find it for under $600. If you do, jump on it. It will be expensive for a long time, or at least until a GSM carrier offers if on contract in the US. Then it will fall.
Craigslist is your friend. $500 new in Box.

https://negrielectronics.com/samsung-i9250-google-galaxy-nexus-black-unlocked.html is $622.... shouldn't be any difference. Unsure why they have 2 product pages.

Your point? I purchased the one that is for $622 and it came as yakjuxw and not 'yakju.' None of this matters, it can be changed in <5 minutes.
Just silly how they offer both versions with one of them being the higher price.

Of course it doesn't matter. I bought the canadian and flashed it to yakju in 5 minutes too...
I'm saying this is why theyre differentiating between the two. Their indication is the more expensive one has a higher chance to be yakju (theyre sourcing them from the UK often, but Latin America recently). The Canadian one has a * in the description saying its on 4.0.1 and not updated by Google (or something to that effect).
The real reason why they're selling them a tad cheaper is probably because the CAN versions come with a US-standard charger and they don't have to include one (they have to open and replace chargers in the other ones). And they probably got a big batch buy and got to offer a lower price because of it.
POINT BEING that people should just buy the cheaper CAN version if they are available.

And if the person gets the more expensive one and it ends up not being 'yakju' what happens there? because what you just said is that it has a higher chance of being 'yakju' but mines came as 'yakjuxw.'
Honestly, if someone was to buy the Galaxy Nexus from Negri it'd be a no brainer to get the $595 one. Negri should just get rid of the $622 one and have them both at the same price. Makes no sense, logically speaking.

Yes it clearly doesn't matter. They're not making a guarantee, but rather a disclosure on the CAN version that they know it won't be yakju.

I doubt majority of users will even know the difference of 'yakju' and non-yakju variants. But back to the topic because that's a silly argument
Get it from Negri they will honor a one-year warranty on your device whereas other places may not. I know Expansys honors warranties. These warranties are done through the place you bought it from and not Samsung.
Samsung will not honor warranties from grey-marketed sales.

Thanks. I'm very interested in buying from them but if you scroll down the page it says, "Good Condition ". Another open box Galaxy S II says like new for condition. I'm worried it's going to show some wear.

Not sure about the cheapest, but $650 for a LE with both backcovers and an otterbox defender from a fellow XDA member. I felt that was a very good price as a packaged deal
