[Q] Tmobile gn2 brick - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I was able to root my tmobile gn2 using a guide which worked perfectly fine. But I wanted to unroot my phone but due to incomplete research and knowledge my phone is now bricked. The guide i followed didn't specifically mention regarding US carriers so I went ahead and tried to unroot with other GT-7100 firmwares available and when I tried to flash with ODIN i kept getting failures and now it is stuck in the "firmware upgrade encountered an issure. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I tried it was just an error with the firmware so i tried another one, but nonetheless it failed and somehow my binary count went up to 3.
I tried going into recovery but it doesn't work, but I am still able to get into the ODIN download screen.
I'm not really sure what to do at this point.
I would really appreciate any help

Did you try the method here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957209
Just download that rom and follow the steps to install it. Hopefully that works for you.

Since tmo galaxy note 2 has its own forum only download roms or any other firmwares from there so you do not risk bricking yoyr device.

I actually did look through the thread but I was too afraid to do anything else since I might make my situation worse, but I think I might go ahead and try it.
I just follow the same procedure right? download the zip file and flash it with odin?

Flash CWM Recovery with odin. Once that is done flash rom through the recovery.

You have to add the rom file to your sdcard first though

No need sdcard when you flash through PC and that is only option for you now.

In the mean time, can you check on your still have SuperSu app and method I try on the other post are reflash stock rom to get you back on feet, not reroot .Since you can boot your phone but no network then flash modem first to see if it's work again

Do I add the tmo modem into my sdcard and open rom manager and reboot to recovery?

How is that going to help to get an imei number back? Thats a link to a uvalj1 modem.
The man is trying to get his imei number back. And we all just about know from intuition that he doesnt have a backup. Id send him to the galaxy s3 thread by peoplearmy that details method that DOES work on our phone using nv reader to back up or inject an imei number into the system.
I just dont have the link and cant find it
But flashing modems isnt going to do nothin at all.
OP GO TO THE GALAXY S3 FORUMS FOR TMOBILE find and download those tools. Follow the instructions PROVIDED there and try to INJECT an imei into your phone since im pretty certain that you dont have a backup. Stop following links and flashing random files from people that know even less than you about fixing the problem.
Your taking art advice from the blind.

[Q] Serial Number 000000000000

Hey
after i lost my IMEI for the first time i went to a tech lab which got it fixed for me.
anyway they restored it with 4.1.1 version
i flashed a room with 4.1.2 version but i did noticed that i cant make any calls.
i checked the IMEI and it was just fine..but i did saw that the serial number is just a long list of zeros
there is a fix for that or i have to go to the phone center again?

If you have flashed the 412 stock rom that will install a bootloader older than dmg l1 which is why you lose imei. The bootloader patch is essentially.just the dmg1 bootloader and your efs has been changed sonthat only dmg1 or newer can read it so if you have a efs backup you can restore that or simply flash the blpatch tonreplace the old bl with dmg1 which should fix.your problem. Shouldnt effect the binary counter as far as I know but if it does you can always triangle away again

Flashed new ROM, lost 3G data

I flashed the MK3 modem, then MOAR v9.0.1 and lost my 3G data.
There are other threads here discussing similar problems.
Some said that the person lost their APN and suggested typing *#06#. I did that and got my MEID (it was not all zeroes).
Every time I type ##72786# now, i get the "SCRTN" screen and it reboots all by itself.
It rebooted, and when it came up again, it started going through the activation process. During Hands-free activation, I get the "4G" icon. Ditto for when it updates the PRL, but the icon disappears when it says it needs to reboot (and it never comes back...)
When I type ##786#, I can view RTN information.
When it comes back up, still no data. What am I missing?
I called Sprint to have them do a "data refresh" or "re-provision". Still no data. I'm stuck. Please help.
Have you tried flashing the mk5 modem? Or updating the prl?

Updating the PRL fails.
The only thread I see with an MK5 modem is for Virgin Mobile/Boost here. I can't use that if I'm on Sprint, right?
Isn't there something about zeroing out your MSL/MEID and rebooting?

Ok. I missed that in the thread. I have to wait until I get home to try it. Thanks.
Ok, when I restored my Nandroid backup, it apparently killed my TWRP. If i installed that *after* my last backup, that would explain it?

Just to be safe I would Odin back to stock, choose which recovery you want, I personally prefer philz latest because it let's you root your phone via the recovery. Then reflash the ROM of choice.

Just to be safe I would Odin back to stock, choose which recovery you want, I personally prefer philz latest because it let's you root your phone via the recovery. Then reflash the ROM of choice.

Thanks.I"m looking for the link for the stock ROM now.
Is this the right thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746680
Edit: I also have the "SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 UNIFIED TOOLKIT V8.0". Do I want to use that instead? Or before Odin?
Can you point me to a simple walkthrough to do this? Hopefully with links to downloads, etc.?

im honestly to sure about that unified toolkit ive personally never used it but i can do the best walk through that i know.
I have the Sprint drivers installed and Odin already from the last time I messed with this phone. I just can't find the stock ROM, then I think I might be good to go...?
Edit: I found a stock rooted de-odexed 4.3 MK3 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541900
But I don't know... do I use Odin to flash it? Do I need to re-flash a custom recovery?

im still waiting for the stock tar to upload. once you flash the stock tar through odin, you can flash this recovery through odin and it has the option to root the phone.

ok i got it now! lol use this file through odin to take your phone back to stockhttp://www.mediafire.com/download/tch0i9oiuv84q61 once that is done flash this recovery through odinhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/gh6gcxw9fyvgjuf/philz_touch_6.25.0-d2lte.tar.md5 once all of that is done boot into recovery and go into philz settings and root the phone. once that is done go into the play store and download supersu. once downloaded go into it and update the binaries. it will also ask you to disable knox, do so using the "normal" method. i hope this was a good enough walk through.

It was great. Thanks!
I *still* don't have 3G data, though. Check your PM, please.
Well here is instructions to unroot and then root......keep philz recovery...folllow these...then follow directions after....
how to return to stock
http://qbking77.com/how-to-unroot/unroot-unbrick-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii/
how to root
http://qbking77.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-2/root-samsung-galaxy-s3-android-4-3-jelly-bean/
You have made it back and hopefully rooted once again....go into recovery and flash the philz recovery....do not restart after flashing.....you can go to advanced menu and should be option to reboot to recovery.....once back in philz recovery now.....go to wipe data/factory reset...in this menu choose clean to install a new rom.....then flash any rom.......and gapps if required...some roms need gapps others have it included....read flashing instructions on any rom you are on....
Hope this helps
stock you can do the ##72786# it helped me then i had same issues you had....philz recovery saved the day.....
there are lots you can do with your phone...so....make sure to read and research...and follow all developers instructions.....happy rooting
I got back to MOAR 9.0.1 and sometimes have 1x data, but mostly I don't have any data when not on WiFi. I'm really stuck. Any ideas?

S6e+ G928W8 (Canadian variant) DEODEXED ROOTED AND XPOSED ROM

Hello,
Here is an UPDATE this is a FULL S6e+ Canadian Variant Rom
First of All at this point you know that your phone should be rooted + you need a moded kernel or you will be stuck in a boot-loop ( you will find it in S6e+ international Thread )and this means BYE-BYE WARRANTY
Second do not forget to Backup in TWRP / CWM
The most important is: I'M not responsible if your phone went crazy
Now that you agreed for the 3 Warnings:
Download the ROM in your SD
Reboot in your TWRP / CWM recovery
Flash it
Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik/ART Cache
Reboot wait and wait maybe one more time wait (android will finish doing his Job) et Voilà.
What is in this ROM
A FULL ROM WITH ALL THE CSC CANADIAN
Volume is boosted
Native Call Recorder is Enabled
2nd Keyboard Symbol Enabled ( for eng_US and fr_CA )
Rooted
Xposed
Deodexed
As from my Side everything is working well . BUT STILL SO IMPORTANT DO A BACKUP AS WE DON'T HAVE YET A STOCK FIRMWARE.
When you Flash it you will have Rogers CSC . if you want another Canadian Carrier CSC,
once you phone is booted go to the dialer and type *#272*IMEI# its gonna prompt the Canadian CSC select the needed one click on install, the Phone will reboot Reset and install the selected CSC.
I know all the T-Mobile bloatware will be removed but I would like to keep one of them which is the "NAME ID" how could I do that?

just push it in system/ app/ create folder nameid / and set the permission
With the proper Kernel, would this ROM work for the standard T-Mobile S6 edge? Also does this ROM retain the T-Mobile WiFie Calling?

Do you know where we can download the Canadian version of stock firmware? My phone has turned out to be a brick because of the FRP lock (so stupid that forgot OEM unlock before factory reset the device), seems like I will have to use the stock firmware to make it work again... Or do you have any other suggestions? Only few information about 928W8, so hard to find one on the same boat...

Thanks for the reply. I am in the situation exactly like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/custom-binary-blocked-frp-lock-t3152054
Tried to flash TWRP using ODIN, but got the same error "custom binary blocked by FRP lock". Only download mode is available, in other words, only ODIN can help now.
Lots of discussions in the above link, but seems that the only working solution is to flash the stock firmware, which doesn't exist for 928W8 in Canada....

Yes, it is rooted. But the FRP lock stops me odin flashing the tmobile stock firmware, which I guess is still different from 928w8's stock firmware.... Odin always shows failed.....
