CM10 M2 Bootloop Gnex - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Need some quick help here. I unlocked and rooted my gnex. I have done this several times before and with all my other android phones. As soon as I rooted it, I flashed the new 4.2 gapps package. Upon booting, the launcher would not respond and thusly I could not access my home screen or app drawer. I had to open my apps from the google now target on the lock screen. As I read more, I heard not to flash the 4.2 gapps unless you have flashed another rom.
So I went to chrome, dl'ed the cm10 m2 zip, went into rom manager and flashed the cm10 and 4.2 gapps again. Now upon booting, the cyanogenmod icon is bootlooping, and has been for the last ten minutes. I went back into recovery and tried the process again, this time wiping the cache and dalvik, to no avail...same bootloop.
Please help!

Install a stock ROM using fastboot.....
Beamed from my Maguro.

If it helps at all, it's a Verizon galaxy nexus. Please help! Also if it is at all possible to save pictures, please let me know. Wiping would be my last resort.
Thanks

Is there a way of flashing stock that does not require a wipe?
Also I did make a nandroid of the stock rooted rom, but for some reason, after flashing that, the cyanogenmod logo stilled appeared at boot...

U need to wipe cache/dalvik/factory reset/system(u need to do this every time before flashing a ROM) , do it like 3 times and re-flash ROM. Don't worry about ur photos, they r in the internal memory and u don't need to wipe it, so u won't lose them.

Which file did you flash? You could've used the 'maguro' (GSM) one instead of the 'toro' (Verizon) one

When you factory reset, the entire phone is wiped, no? And how can I factory reset from recovery?

I was sure to flash the toro file. I don't believe that is the problem.

Nope. Factory Reset doesn't wipe the internal SD. It should be located inside the wiping options(I'm using TWRP recovery). Anyways u should wipe cache/dalvik/factory reset/system before flashing a ROM not just factory reset.

Got home from class, wiped cahce, dalvik, and data, flashed cm10 m2 and gapps 4.2. Everythings great and I still have my pics. Thanks guys
It was just taking that plunge of wiping data that was freaking me out. I had some pics that i absolutely could not lose, but after reading on it more, it makes sense that the wipe would not format the internal sd.
Thanks again!

[Q] Stuck at the HTC splash screen looping

Hi all,
I decided to remove Cyanogen today from my Inc2(obv). I loaded up the recovery I flashed with Clockwork last week. When my phone rebooted it got stuck at the HTC splash screen. Now all it does is loop the splash screen over and over again. Does anyone have an idea as to what i could do?
Did you wipe data and caches before flashing?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
yes I did. This wasnt the first phone that I have rooted, so I am confused as to why it is doing this. On my old Droid by doing what I did above, I was able to remove cyanogen easily.
Did you make a nandroid backup first,if you did that just go to recovery and then go to backup and restore and select restore and just choose your backup, and then restart.

Do the following in recovery:
Factory reset
Wipe data
Wipe dalvik
Format all partitions except sdcard.
Enjoy aosp
I'm sure you are coming from a sense rom and there is residue left on your system partition. Formatting all partitions will help here.

i then tried to install v2 of the ROM that came out a couple days later... and it wouldnt boot past the google writing screen... no matter what i do it wont boot into android... i have dont the wipe data, cache, dalvik etc... this isnt my first rodeo lol
i have tried flashing other jelly bean ROMs an nothing... i can restore to my previous ICS perfectly fine but nothing will load JB...
i have tried to restore with Odin but now in bootloader windows wont detect the phone at all... i have kies installed and have separately installed the drivers, nothing is making Odin see the devices, so i cant even use odin to restore to a factory image...
i have the latest bootloader installed and have the latest touch CWM installed as well... currently running the latest kernel from franco and using aokp 40
this is not making any sense to me and i need help to get my device back to JB, as ICS i cant stand anymore LOL
thanks for you help in advance!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
thank you for the link that helped me get the drivers working properly again.
my issue is i cannot load any JB roms at all, via CWM or otherwise... however i can still load ICS roms without issues...
and i still cant get odin to see my device at all, yet galaxy nexus toolkit works fine! ugh... lol i cannot load any OEM images at all... even the nexus toolkit doesnt want to load a OEM image to the device....
thanks again!

What is "the fix" you are talking about?
And use this recovery, not the one you are using. (The touch one is not entirely stable, even koush said so, so I have no idea why people insist on using it...)
Did you fix permissions after flashing the ROM and fix?
Try factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik cache, wipe system, then install ROM and fix, then fix permissions, then reboot.

You can try using titanium backup or another like it. Or restore the data partition from your nandroid.
BUT!, I wouldnt recommend this. You are trying to go from jb to ics while keeping the apps and data you had while in jb. Ill bet this is exactly whats causing it to hang. you will be much better off and have a more stable system if you do a clean install.
Copy all of the apps you have in /data/app to your external sdcard. Then reinstall from those.
When ever making a jump from one os version to another it is always best to do a clean install.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Just wipe cache, clear dalvik cache, wipe data/factory reset. Dalvik cache is located under advanced. Those are the steps to flashing ROM'S. If you don't have Titanium Backup from the market, I highly recommend it. Any apps you downloaded from the market will automatically restore after you sign in. But if you are stuck, just to the 3 steps above in CWM. Or just flash a older ROM you might have stored just to get back to normal. Hope this helps. Good luck brother!

[Q] Accidently OTA Updated my Rooted GNex CDMA Now it Just Bootloops

I was running AOKP Jellybean and rebooted my phone which updated the OTA Jellybean update I was unaware of (not like Verizon ever gets things done) and now it bootloops. I can access recovery, ODIN, and have tried my back ups which none of them can load /data, and have tried to simply reflash the rom, which bootloops with the roms boot animation, and have tried wiping data/cache/dalvik/battery stats and nothing worked. Is there anyway to wipe it completely and start from there, or at least get a backup working/computer-saved backup on there? It appears I can't access the phone from my computer because I last used fast charge and now the computer doesn't know it's plugged in. Am I screwed?

I second the factory reset.
Do you have access to Fastboot? If so, why not push commands to the phone and factory reset it and start fresh?
Sorry for the late reply, it still was bootlooping after a factory reset, I just got a replacement GNex. Thanks to those who replied though.

[Q] Fail to flash any rom in my Note 2 sgh i317

Hello guys,
It's my first question to the forum. I hope you can give me a clue resolve this problem.
I bought a Note 2 SGH i317 some days ago.
It was my first root but with your trheads everything was ok (for some days).
I tried JediX, Custom Rom 4.2.5 and some other.
But after tried some custom roms, I noted that when I flash any rom the phone stucks on Samsung Galaxy Note II screen and I have to pull out the battery to turn off the phone.
I tried with many others roms and all did the same.
Later I realized that the flash process was very fast compared to the first ones, so I guess the flash proccess fails in some instance.
I returned to stock rom and root it again with same results.
I tried with CVM and TWRP.
I can restore some nandroid backups to get the phone working, but can't flash any rom now!
Do you have any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Sometimes I wipe both before and after flashing rom.

If flashing stock rom doesn't help, your internal memory might be corrupted, and might need to format it through recovery.
It's not a sure thing but it's another option to troubleshoot your problem. If you're gonna try that, make sure to backup all your stuff

It's hard to say what made it corrupt (if at all, remember, this is only an assumption). Could've been an app that caused it, could've been flashing a custom rom, and something went wrong during the flashing process.
If you're using twrp (which i highly suggest you do), in the 'wipe' menu there's an option to wipe internal sd. DON'T FORGET! before you do this make a nandroid backup and keep that backup on your external sd, or on your computer. Also, backup all your stuff, like pictures, music, etc.

The only thanks you could give is just hitting the thanks button on my answers to you. But you don't really have to, it's entirely up to you. If you think my responses are helpful to you, then by all means ... In order to close a thread you could ask a moderator to do so. I'm not sure you're obligated to do so.
Btw, if cwm gives you an md5 error, could be most likely because you changed the name cwm has originally assigned to that backup. To solve this, just change it to what it was. If you didn't change the backup name, you could try going into advanced menu in cwm and toggle signature check to disable
