Warning to those that are going to root and then remove apps. - Sprint LG Optimus G

Some of us are getting their Optimus G today and will probably want to root and even though Sprint doesn't have too many bloatware, I know there will be people that are gonna try to remove some apps they don't want. However...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970546
Apparently some of LG's stock apps are locked down with the security on this phone and will cause an error if you uninstall the wrong app. Don't not uninstall any app yet, The best thing to do is to freeze them.
Edit: This only happens if you uninstall a google app. Sprint and LG Bloatware is fine apparently.

A chill down my spine.
I just ran root through my phone, seconds away from loading up root uninstaller and gleefully ridding myself of all the Sprint bloatware that annoys the daylights out of me, I decided to bookmark this section of forum, saw this post and probably saved myself from a ruined Saturday.
Even though the other OP removed Google apps and I just want to remove Sprint stuff.. now I just don't dare.
Curses. I think I'm just gonna go back to bed instead.
Thank you for the heads up, never would have guessed myself.

No problem, glad I could help.

People in the other thread said you can delete LG apps and AT&T apps (Sprint apps likely too) but not google apps

I froze apps, rebooted, and had this problem.
I thought that was the issue, until I remembered that I pushed the newer versions of the updated Google apps to /system with Titanium. I guess *ANY* change to those specific apps faults whatever checking it's doing. :-|

i was able to remove, most of LG apps..
the two Sprint app i kept..

The list of apps I've safely deleted from stock zvc are as follows:
Application Manager
Marionette
Google Play Books
Google Play Magazines
Google Play Movies and Tv
Google Play Music
Lg Email
Lg Email Widget
Memo
Memo Widget
Stock Music Player(I use PlayerPro)
Notebook
Polaris Office 4
Smartshare
Stock Streaming Player(I use BS Player)
Sprint ID
Sprint Zone
Tom's Diner
VidClip
VideoWiz
And I am sure there are many more that can be deleted(probably some I forgot). I've heard of other people having problems even freezing the google books, etc, but I completely deleted them.

[Q] Delete old Apps in Playstore?

Hey Guys.
Just wanted to ask, if there´s a possibility to delete old apps that are still shown in the playstore. want a better overview over my apps. there are still apps listed from older devices. want to clean up a bit, after a fullwipe i even would have got a better overview which apps to install.
thx in advance
l-viz
No, but they're the last apps shown.

I find this very annoying as well as I try and uninstall tons of apps

They should at least give us a way to change how the list is organized.
I can't even see all of the apps I've ever installed online. The list stops at F.

Because there's so many, mine stops at M. If you go to Order History (or something similar), you'll see every app you've downloaded in chronological order.

Known issue for Android app
Hey, I can't post the link (I'm new), but if you google "delete old apps google play store," the first entry is Known issues for Android apps.
"Deleting apps from My Apps/My Orders
At this time, there is no way to delete records of old apps either on the Google Play website (play.google.com) or from the My Apps section of the Google Play Store app.
We know that some users are looking for a way to delete old apps from Google Play, and we'll certainly take this into account as we work to improve the Google Play experience in the future."
Guess we'll have to wait.

Solution for "Security Error"

One of the reasons you may be rooting your Nitro might be to remove bloatware. At least, that was the main reason for me.
Anyway, after you root and go about customizing and deleting apps, you will likely find yourself rebooting and being greeted by an LG logo and the words "Security Error". Then you go through the terrible motions of unbricking your phone and trying again only to brick it once more.
Well, after bricking my phone a good 30 times, I have found a solution. Here it is:
DO NOT UNINSTALL ALL AT&T SYSTEM APPS
There you have it. It seems that AT&T has set up their ROMs to verify that all system apps are intact at boot. If they are not, they assume that the ROM has been tampered with. Of course, this does not mean that you can't freeze these apps. I used Titanium Backup to freeze these apps.
When I finished customizing my Nitro, I booted into ClockWorkMod Recovery and made a backup. Each time I bricked my phone while testing this, I just restored that backup. I've also kept the backup on my SD card just in case.
Here is a list of the apps that I have found will brick your Nitro if removed:
AT&T Address Book (Safe to remove with v20c update)
AT&T Navigator (Safe to remove with v20c update)
Google Play Books* (Safe to remove with v20c update)
Google Play Movies*
Google Play Music (Safe to remove with v20c update)
Google Play Store/Market
*I have found that these ones will defrost on reboot.
i can tell you for a fact that 90% of those are safe to remove and I have done so.
Yep, most of those are safe to remove. I have security error only then tried to install CWM from leaked firmware.

I'm just going off the fact that every time I removed one of them, I got the security error.
I'd be happy to edit my list if you can provide a list of the ones you have removed.

Ok, I'm making a ClockWorkMod backup right now and will give the others another try.
I think I need to point out that I'm pretty sure mattman86 is talking about experiencing the secure boot error while on the one-click installation ICS leak whereas people replying to him are using the CWM-flashable ICS leak. I could be wrong, though.

this is a pretty safe list. you might try using root explorer to nav over to those apk's and change the perms & delete.
i don't mind the address book and the store is certainly required but those others, ugh.
Just tested. On 20c only one app that bricking device is Google Play Movies . Books and Music are safe to remove. I did not try to remove Play Store.

It appears that with the new v20c update, you can remove Address Book and Navigation.
Only app that crash system is Google Movies! I removed all staff from ATT and other and phone works well. But when I delete Moves it shows me Security Error.

[QUESTION] How can i Debloat my Lg Nitro HD

i'm on v20c, i would like to debloat my lg nitro..ªª
some Bat file..
Some App list of bloat in the v20c rom
Some Support to resolved it?
The built in app manager in settings allows you to remove or disable almost all the bloatware. No other apps, files, or scripts needed. Do not delete our disable Google play movies.

You can delete anything except Play Movies (Moves.apk, Movies.odex)
why is the reason??
Some list of all apps can i disable on this device?
If you remove play movies you will get a security error and may brick the phone. everything else should be no problem.

Listen its like any other phone.
Just suck it up and buy TiBu.
Reason? Some apps cannot be disabled via os.
I dont know what google did but its total bs with the google apps.
Yes you CAN disable any ap you want, as long as its not a system app you will be gtg.
Have disabled google movies, no issues.
Do not remove apps unless you can for sure retrieve them or will not bork your os!
Removing any app, unless done via custom rom, or you are never going to update, is a bad idea.
My advice:
Never delete Always disable or freeze.
I Have all google apps except the play store disabled. Yes including google movies.
Unfortunaty i dont know if its ics, or just an update but some of the google apps reset or unfreeze themselves.
I also froze anything that says att on it.
I send tibu an email about the google apps re enabling so i imagine at some point theyll fix it.

I second that though, but keep in mind that it was not google that put that security measure in place, it was LG upon googles request.
That happened right after they adopted the jelly bean into the os. We may have to do a little tinkering to find the software thats blocking the mods to 20c.

I would 100% agree titanium bu is one of the best all purpose apps around not just for backups. Use it to freeze or uninstall apps, push apps to be system apps, fix market connections and even sync your backups to drive, box or drop box. Well worth the $!

You can remove anything that has, to do with AT&T. Navigator, AT&T hot spot etc.
Not sure if your rooted or not. But if you are, and your going into the phone system deleting stuff. Just make sure not to delete anything that has to do with Google!
Another thing you can do without rooting. Is you can disable any app you choose to. And it will not show up in the app drawer!
Just my 2¢

I would hope on Sprint phone, there isn't anything with AT&T on it, LOL
I don't think there is a list. As the above eluded to, if you're rooted, which I assume is the case, make a backup of everything with Titanium Backup. So if you delete something you shouldn't have, you can restore without having to do a Nandroid restore; I would confirm your Nandroid backup actually works too. You may not realize till later that you delete something you shouldn't have. I've Google Play bork all of sudden days later when I tried going into it, and after removing several other items.
I haven't had issues with:
Gmail
Goolge Plus
Samsung Media Hub
Kies
Yahoo News
Yahoo Finance
VPN Client (this is waste since Android has it build in)
Voicemail
Trim
Google Talk
Sprint Zone
SNS (has a facebook icon, but don't know what it does)
Samsung Apps
Popup Browser
MyFiles
MusicFX
Music Player
Music Hub
HTML Viewer
Game Hub
Favorite Contacts
Dropbox
Allshare
any and all wallpapers
You can remove Youtube too. You'll just need to use a web browser install to access it.
Some of the apps I removed were because I use a different app to do the same function such as K9 email, Google Music and ES File Explorer. I usually remove Downloads, but keep the download manager. I believe downloads is just a shortcurt to the download directory, which can be accessed easily with the file explorer app.
I'm just usually weary of the TB listing that start with "com.". I think those are more system applications.
Beyond that, it's trial and error.
If you're unsure about something, but want to test it, you can always try freezing it in Titanium Backup as well. It'll still be there, but the will inaccessible for use on the phone till unfrozen.
Mod moved me to the sprint forum from at&t haha. Thanks for the help ive been slowly debloating this phone.

Bloatware

I just ordered my 7x a couple of days ago. I've seen some reviews about bloatware. I was just wondering, is there a lot of it? Can any of it be uninstalled or just disabled? Don't plan on rooting the device any time soon so would like to eliminate as much bloat as possible without root.

Really depends on what you consider bloatware. It comes with a lot of Google products, Facebook, Instagram, and some others. I only use a handful of Google products and none of the social stuff. It also comes with a few Huawei products I don't use. For me, that's a lot of bloatware. To others who may use all these apps, it may not be.
I will say it sucks to have apps like SwiftKey preinstalled because I use the beta version. This creates two different versions on the phone. I can't say if this is true for other apps, but it could be.
It can't be uninstalled by the way, well not without root. I don't believe they can be disabled either, but could be wrong about that.

Not exactly. Facebook came pre-installed and can't be removed iirc. I went through and disabled every app I didn't use. Basically what it does when you disable a pre-installed app it resets the app back to factory version then disables it. Below is two screen shots. One of the pre-installed Facebook and another of an app that I installed myself. When clicking the Uninstall button it gives two different options.

I was able to uninstall all the 3rd-party apps that came on my phone (US). CNN, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, one or two more. I was also able to uninstall several Google apps: Google+, Google Play Books, Slides, Docs, etc. Just Music & Movies and TVs were the only ones I'd rather unininstall but were system apps. There is also a program called Facebook App Manager that can only be disabled and not uninstalled.
Overall, the bloatware was pretty light and it was easy to remove 90% of it, so even if you don't intend to root (I do), it's not really bad at all. I am a bit shocked, frankly.

Very nice. Mines arriving today can't wait. I intend to root at some point but I keep reading that there's no stock images released yet and I don't want to mess up and not be able to fix it afterwards. So I'll just use it as is for now and wait for the development to pick up first. If I get the urge to flash a custom ROM , people keep releasing them for the nexus 5 which is what I'm currently using.
