Hmmm samsung apps - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Do we have a list of apps that are safe to remove from our note 2's that won't affect day to day functionality? I'm new to the device and it had v about 3 times as many system .apks as my sgsII had lol.

You can remove anything that has, to do with AT&T. Navigator, AT&T hot spot etc.
Not sure if your rooted or not. But if you are, and your going into the phone system deleting stuff. Just make sure not to delete anything that has to do with Google!
Another thing you can do without rooting. Is you can disable any app you choose to. And it will not show up in the app drawer!
Just my 2¢

I would hope on Sprint phone, there isn't anything with AT&T on it, LOL
I don't think there is a list. As the above eluded to, if you're rooted, which I assume is the case, make a backup of everything with Titanium Backup. So if you delete something you shouldn't have, you can restore without having to do a Nandroid restore; I would confirm your Nandroid backup actually works too. You may not realize till later that you delete something you shouldn't have. I've Google Play bork all of sudden days later when I tried going into it, and after removing several other items.
I haven't had issues with:
Gmail
Goolge Plus
Samsung Media Hub
Kies
Yahoo News
Yahoo Finance
VPN Client (this is waste since Android has it build in)
Voicemail
Trim
Google Talk
Sprint Zone
SNS (has a facebook icon, but don't know what it does)
Samsung Apps
Popup Browser
MyFiles
MusicFX
Music Player
Music Hub
HTML Viewer
Game Hub
Favorite Contacts
Dropbox
Allshare
any and all wallpapers
You can remove Youtube too. You'll just need to use a web browser install to access it.
Some of the apps I removed were because I use a different app to do the same function such as K9 email, Google Music and ES File Explorer. I usually remove Downloads, but keep the download manager. I believe downloads is just a shortcurt to the download directory, which can be accessed easily with the file explorer app.
I'm just usually weary of the TB listing that start with "com.". I think those are more system applications.
Beyond that, it's trial and error.
If you're unsure about something, but want to test it, you can always try freezing it in Titanium Backup as well. It'll still be there, but the will inaccessible for use on the phone till unfrozen.

Mod moved me to the sprint forum from at&t haha. Thanks for the help ive been slowly debloating this phone.

Or if you don't care to have them back, just go through settings/application/manage and find the ones you want to delete. I and Some other people don't care to have those apps so why back them up? Sometimes its just a waste of time!
backup etc
Most i just want gone! Like nascrap, sprint tv etc.
The Titanium Backup is probably a good idea in case you delete one program and it has an effect on one you want to keep. Heard of that happening.
**Problem is u go into manage apps and Uninstall is not an highlighted option on the ones they want to shove down your throat.
Some you want to keep are freindstream, g-talk and gmail...
But yeah, the NASCAR, NFL, Amazon, Peep, et al.... gone
You can actually get rid of Friendstream too if you don't use, and also get rid of any of the social networking apps. I get rid of friendstream, , facebook, news, callender, footprints, rss reader, music, browser, app sharing, sprint hotspot, and several others, because I don't use them, or their are better replacements on the market.
Titanium Backup is probably the best, but you could also use Root Uninstaller. This gives you a lot of options, such as freezing an app and restoring apps.
I use Root Explorer, I have never used Titanium Backup but you should be able to use it.

The sixth post has a lot of items that are safe to delete.

Bloatware safe to remove from 2.3

So I have a list of applications safe to remove or move:

Amazon MP3
App Sharing
Apps (VCast.apk)
Backup Assistant
Bookmark Widget
Calculator + Widget
Calendar + Widget
Car Panel
City ID
Clock Widget
Flickr
FMRadio + Widget
Footprints + Widget
Friendstream + Widget (If you sync Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter accounts with your phone and remove this, you will get a persistent sync symbol)
Messages Widget
Music + Widget
My Verizon Mobile
News + Widget
PDF Viewer
Peep
Photo Widget
Quickoffice
RSS Reader
Skype
Slacker
Stocks + Widget
Teeter
VCast
Voice Dialer

Feel free to tell me of any I missed, or of any corrections, and I will update accordingly. I've made the list with Titanium Backup Users in mind. How you choose to remove or move them is up to you, and this is mainly just to be used as a resource. I will post any side affects from removing certain apps as I learn of them as well.

Pretty much any app that isn't the phone or contacts apk should be safe, too, I think.
(actual apps. Don't delete stuff like CertInstaller.apk or whatever. But if it shows up in your app drawer, it's generally okay to get rid of.)
The only thing I'm not sure about is the visual voicemail. It may act funny with the messages app, since there's a slider for it.
Cdrom.iso really shouldnt be removed. It can cause issues with adb and mounting usb storage. You can dissable the annoying vzw installer by dialing ##program# and hitting call. Enter six zeros for the password. Then go to feature settings and tap on cd rom and dissable it. Hit the menu button and select comit changes. Your phone will reboot and the vzw installer nag wont be there the next time you connect to your pc.

Does it matter if I delete them vs. move the APKs to another location? Would I ever need them again for anything?
Well they'll still be taking up space if you move them to another location on the phone, but they wont run or be in your app drawer. If you want to have them just in case, you could always move them to the SD card, then your computer? I can't think of any reason that you'd need them though, even if you wanted them at a later time, you could find them on the market or with a quick googling.
I just back them up and then uninstall them.
I've added Apps (VCast.apk) to the list.

You might want to add HtcLoggers.apk to the list, in light of the recently discovered security hole.
DInc with CyanogenMod 6.1 & Invisiblek #28 kernel.

The built in app manager in settings allows you to remove or disable almost all the bloatware. No other apps, files, or scripts needed. Do not delete our disable Google play movies.

You can delete anything except Play Movies (Moves.apk, Movies.odex)
why is the reason??
Some list of all apps can i disable on this device?
If you remove play movies you will get a security error and may brick the phone. everything else should be no problem.

Listen its like any other phone.
Just suck it up and buy TiBu.
Reason? Some apps cannot be disabled via os.
I dont know what google did but its total bs with the google apps.
Yes you CAN disable any ap you want, as long as its not a system app you will be gtg.
Have disabled google movies, no issues.
Do not remove apps unless you can for sure retrieve them or will not bork your os!
Removing any app, unless done via custom rom, or you are never going to update, is a bad idea.
My advice:
Never delete Always disable or freeze.
I Have all google apps except the play store disabled. Yes including google movies.
Unfortunaty i dont know if its ics, or just an update but some of the google apps reset or unfreeze themselves.
I also froze anything that says att on it.
I send tibu an email about the google apps re enabling so i imagine at some point theyll fix it.

I second that though, but keep in mind that it was not google that put that security measure in place, it was LG upon googles request.
That happened right after they adopted the jelly bean into the os. We may have to do a little tinkering to find the software thats blocking the mods to 20c.

I would 100% agree titanium bu is one of the best all purpose apps around not just for backups. Use it to freeze or uninstall apps, push apps to be system apps, fix market connections and even sync your backups to drive, box or drop box. Well worth the $!

Warning to those that are going to root and then remove apps.

Some of us are getting their Optimus G today and will probably want to root and even though Sprint doesn't have too many bloatware, I know there will be people that are gonna try to remove some apps they don't want. However...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970546
Apparently some of LG's stock apps are locked down with the security on this phone and will cause an error if you uninstall the wrong app. Don't not uninstall any app yet, The best thing to do is to freeze them.
Edit: This only happens if you uninstall a google app. Sprint and LG Bloatware is fine apparently.
A chill down my spine.
I just ran root through my phone, seconds away from loading up root uninstaller and gleefully ridding myself of all the Sprint bloatware that annoys the daylights out of me, I decided to bookmark this section of forum, saw this post and probably saved myself from a ruined Saturday.
Even though the other OP removed Google apps and I just want to remove Sprint stuff.. now I just don't dare.
Curses. I think I'm just gonna go back to bed instead.
Thank you for the heads up, never would have guessed myself.
No problem, glad I could help.

I froze apps, rebooted, and had this problem.
I thought that was the issue, until I remembered that I pushed the newer versions of the updated Google apps to /system with Titanium. I guess *ANY* change to those specific apps faults whatever checking it's doing. :-|
i was able to remove, most of LG apps..
the two Sprint app i kept..
The list of apps I've safely deleted from stock zvc are as follows:
Application Manager
Marionette
Google Play Books
Google Play Magazines
Google Play Movies and Tv
Google Play Music
Lg Email
Lg Email Widget
Memo
Memo Widget
Stock Music Player(I use PlayerPro)
Notebook
Polaris Office 4
Smartshare
Stock Streaming Player(I use BS Player)
Sprint ID
Sprint Zone
Tom's Diner
VidClip
VideoWiz
And I am sure there are many more that can be deleted(probably some I forgot). I've heard of other people having problems even freezing the google books, etc, but I completely deleted them.

How To Remove AT&T Address Book?

Hello Everyone
I have installed a custom ROM that is really close to stock Touchwiz.
However it includes some kind of "AT&T address book" app that pops up whenever I go to phone and press contacts, for example. This causes my phone to lag too as it opens this useless app, as I am not even with AT&T. I was wondering about how to remove it, or perhaps a contacts apk that I can replace it with that does not have this built in?
Thank you
Use root explorer and nav to system/app. Mount r/w and delete the app. Reboot.

Can't you just freeze/uninstall it with titanium backup?

I would simply uninstall it with Titanium Backup, however I think the app is somehow fused into the contacts application. In Titanium Backup I could not locate any process or application related to it. Unless I am missing something or it goes under a different name?

That's up to u. If you freeze it and have no issues I guess you could. I usually freeze most apps I dont use just in case. Unless its a well known app and I know what it is. Flashing the ROM again would install it if u ever wanted it.
