Need a few T-Mobile S3 users for Google Voice app test - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hi, I have an app which works in conjunction with a Google Voice account that works great on a majority of the Android devices out there. But the app apparently has some issues with the T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S3. Strange as it seems to work great at least on the AT&T version though. If you'd like to help me test out the app I'll give you the full version for free(and the updated version once it's fixed!).
Requirements:
1.) Samsung Galaxy S3 (T-Mobile version).
2.) Google Voice account.
Please PM me if you're interested.
Thank you!

I do appreciate your concern but if you'd like to take a look at the app on the Google Play market you're more than welcome to look up "Spare Phone" and you'll see the email is the same as my username here. I basically just need to resolve an issue that appears to be specific to the T-Mobile S3 as it works great on the AT&T version.
Again if anyone would like to help me out I'd appreciate it.
Thank you!

So far so good on my end. I just made a call and didn't run into any issues other then the occasional echo that is common on a lot of VOIP services. Do you know what others did to trigger any of the problems they ran into?

Unfortunately the only info I have are the 2 reviews which state:
"When it work, its great But after a min, other party can only hear static. App freezes and completely shut off the system volume."
"All I get is static."
Assuming you don't eventually run into those issues I wonder what else could be different. Are you running the stock ROM on your S3?

I'll run it all day tomorrow just to be safe. It's a bit late to call many people here. I'm running a stock based ICS ROM at the moment. Wicked V7 to be specific.
---------- Post added at 10:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:48 PM ----------
Okay, I was able to do some more tests. I didn't run into the static unless I was far away from my router. That is more than understandable though. I did notice a long delay on the other party's voice though. It seemed almost as long as the delay I ran into when I was talking to someone in Japan. Also, as I'm typing this I've noticed a screen flicker that wasn't there before. I'm not sure if that is related or not.

I sent you an PM for its worth I did a lot of testing for Talkatone on the Samsung Exhibit II 4G and the HTC mytouch 4G
Also for the users having issues were they rooted? for what ever reason root would often interferer with call quality. some ROMs worked flawless while others were useless. I also had the same issue with GrooVe IP.

I just sent you a pm with the details to install the app. I wish I had more details but I don't as they did a drive by review without any email. And I do agree on the ROM playing an important role as nearly every support email I get related to audio issues it turns out the user is running a non-stock ROM. Please let me know how the app works when you get a chance to try it.
Thank you!

I would love to test the app for you. You can pm me the info and I'll let you know my experience

Quick status update: I've now had reports from testers using all sorts of ROM's including stock and so far no one has been able to reproduce the "only hear static" issue. If anyone else wants to give it a try please let me know.
Thanks!

Really don't see any real issue.
exactly like "WhoWhere" mentioned the echo, I experienced the same.
I accidentally walked out from the wifi zone while on call and it didn't hang up or any warning or anything, it just quite and then I realize that the call maybe dropped as I am not in wifi zone.
Other than that its pretty solid no crash or anything.

[Q] Always on Google Now mic?

I know someone on XDA made an app that allowed this, but I can't find it for the life of me. Does anyone know the name of the app? Thanks.

I know that the new Moto-X phone will be "always listening" and Google Now can be activated anytime by voice. However, there is yet to be solid confirmation this will be rolled out to other devices. One reason most devices do not use this is probably the strain it puts on the battery, always having to process audio.
A lot of threads seem to discuss this - how to achieve this task. However, it appears the general consensus is that the battery would drain to quickly.
I'm sorry this didn't really answer your question, maybe in the coming weeks, once people get their hands on the Moto-X, the hardware to implement the hands free Google Now will be studied in an attempt to replicate.
EDIT: I found something! I found an app in the play store called Open Mic+. It is really new and seems to accomplish the task you are talking about. The performance seems to be iffy for now, as its still in beta, and reviewers say it drains battery, but it could be really cool.
There's an app on Google play store called Google Mic +, it's the only one I could find. Works pretty well actually.

Ubuntu Touch and our device

Just curious, didn't know if there was any interest in this or if anybody else had looked into it. it should be doable now that we have S-Off and can unlocked bootloaders. Has anyone else attempted a port yet for the m7vzw or would anyone be interested in seeing one and/or helping with one. I'm pretty limited in my knowledge of the subject, but would be willing to toss my hat in the ring to try and help out if there's any interest.
I would be on board for trying to port. I can ask some guys to see if they would help.

Sweet, I'm looking into it myself to see how much of a challenge it would be, I know there seems to be some issues with 4.3 on our device, but we don't have a cm10.1 kernel we can use, so I don't know how much that'll hurt us.

Sounds like a plan.
Someone has already done some of the work for this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices/M7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388593
I've actually run through the installer and it works, but only in the basic sense. No cell or data connections and it randomly crashes and reboots the phone.

The cell or data connection problem is likely because that build is for the AT&T and T-MO M7. Not the VZW M7.

Not to defend Hangouts being poorly designed. But don't call somebody a retard for that. Let's see you design it then. You'd be even more retarded probably.
You know the first step to improving Hangouts? Revert it to Google Talk. Its one thing to poorly build something from scratch. Its another thing entirely to worsen a decent, functioning product in the name of "upgrading" it. See Maps for the same pattern. And judging from reviews of both, I'm hardly the only one who feels this way. You couldn't even see who was online till the last update, for god's sake. That is plain retarded, sorry.

Back on topic: I keep hearing this new apk has bugs galore, I think I may instead way for the official roll out by google, just in case there's something Nexus 5 or Kitkat specific about this one.

You should give more information. I doubt anybody wants to test anything on their new $700 Note 4 without knowing what you are working on and who developed it. Not to sound rude but you must give people more information as well as remember to type in you Hangouts username/email. I hope you have something nice in the works. thanks for the heads up on upcoming rom.
I think he meant to say dynamic kat and it is a rom on the note 4 for t-mobile i think. I tried porting it over also. How about some details on what you think is working and what isn't. Did you also get the developers permission? I am not on hangouts but you can send me a pm. I'll have 2 note 4's till the end of the week when i have to return 1, so i don't mind throwing something on it.

Everywhere you post your typos are painful. Slow down and take the time to correct your crap, especially starting a new thread. If you just asked Brian from dynamic he would more than likely help instead of you just doing your thing. How's that aosp you supposedly have going on.?
There was no permission given for a port.
As @jdidtht mentioned, I would have helped anyone that was serious about trying to bring this over.
Being as how you cannot spell the name correctly, I cannot take what you doing here as being serious. If you are porting for your own personal use, great! If you are porting with the intent of distribution here in the Sprint forums, Contacting me first would had been the proper thing to do.
