To those upgrading: Question - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Okay, so from what I read a lot of you are upgrading to the Nexus 4, and since it will soon be on sale, I know a lot of your Galaxy Nexus devices will also soon be on sale I want to ask to those who will eventually sell, how much you are selling it for($) and what condition. I have seen some offers on amazon for $230+, but with screen scratches which is a huge turn off. I also would hate to buy one now in descent condition for $260 then see cheaper ones at a much lower price.
Can anyone also give me a little more insight on the camera? I've seen some very mixed reviews. How good is it in daily performance, low light pictures picture quality, and producing stable images? I'm coming from the LG G2x so if you'd had the device you can use that to give me a good comparison.
One last note: Please don't turn this into "why not just get a nexus 4!?" Thread, because I have my reasons like expandable battery and larger storage for a lower price.
If you have a good offer don't be afraid to PM me either.
Thanks!

i'm selling mine to a workmate, $200...extra battery, desk dock, 3 covers, and extra screen protectors...it was more worth it to me to just sell it at that price than have to deal with ebay and postage and fees

Someone is actually offering me $320. Mainly because its absolutely scratch less, brand new screen (replaced it) and 2 housings - both white and black and STILL I'm not selling it. Mainly because of the Super AMOLED screen and also, the look of the device. I love the front of the Gnex [I agree that the back of the n4 is much better, but the gnex is much better looking (front)]
Go get a nice Gnex asap! Its amazing
The camera is just fine. I'm sure you have a camera lying around for serious photo shooting. The photos look REALLY nice on the super AMOLED screen but may not look good on your computer or any other big screen - outdoor photos are pretty good! Low-light .. Umm not too good.
Anyway! Welcome to the family in advance!

How about 300$ for scratchless-mint condition Gnex with screen protector and a sexy black back cover?
Tell me if u interested in pics of the phone

Guys I appreciate the offers but if I wanted to spend $300 I'd just get the Nexus 4. The reason for this is to find a cheap 1 year-old model from someone who will upgrade.
Thanks, though.

I love this freagin Phone Gawt Damn it.

I don't care about the little freaky glitches or that the battery only lasts a day with moderate usage(typical android and pretty good for htc). The phone is damn sexy, HTC sense for once works for me and I like it. The screen is out of this world, and it takes a second for my eyes to accept the low resolution, and clarity of the real world when I take my eyes of the screen. I love the quality of pictures it takes and really expected far worse from an HTC camera. The design and feel is sexy. Not to heavy and not to light, 4.7 inches and it feels like a much smaller phone. Little cute LED to let me know what I am missing(not the strobe light that upsets my wife at night on the galaxy nexus). Its the first phone that makes me want to whisper love poems to it.
Now where are the damn screen protectors and cases worthy of her beauty?
There is a white one x sitting in my amazon cart right now, taunting me. I bought the GNote at launch and I love it but its not a bad idea to have a smaller phone for other situations. The one x seems pretty damn impressive. I have a feeling that with it not being sold in the US in quad core form, it will hold its value pretty well. At least until the inevitable sgs3 drops damnit Im addicted to phones

Thats true the value in the states will stay high. I loved my note but this phone just feels special.
In love
I'm definitely in love with the One X too! I have the Gnex and it's getting pretty jealous right now, lol. Screen is so much better and it's so fast. Also real pleased with all the dev going on, makes me feel better about my purchase. I've had a few screen glitches but only since I rooted and went with custom roms. Although I unlocked the bootloader in less then 24 hours so not much chance to give stock a good run. My employer offset the cost and put in $300 towards my new baby so it was a bargain!!! Very pleased overall.
Pulled the trigger on a white one. One day shipping should put it in my hands before I leave for vacation weds afternoon

Noon. Leave it naked...the best way to appreciate its beauty.
Well no glitches or problems for me! bought a white version and I LOVE IT! what a fantastic phone! Very happy to be a HTC customer!
I love the phone too just wished the battery was a little better but the camera is pretty good and the best i have seen on a phone. It's light feels great. Really good screen over saturates on some colours however the quad core is a power house.
I noticed you on AT&T do you have the snap dragon version? Or did you get the unlocked global version?

I get 4G on AT&T in Texas on mine.
Oh, and I completely echo the sentiment of the OP: This phone is the ****.
Yep, I got the grey one since I dont rly like the white color. White is timeless, agreed, and can look pretty elegant (and expensive), but I am more the dark type of person (color preference, not personality or style ) like more the decent, non attention colors. Grey just fits me quite well, and yes, its one damn beauty.
Sense 4.0 still got its issues, like pretty borked memory management (Rosie Reloads anyone? Drives me crazy sometimes) and bugged Tegra 3 drivers. Tegra 2 Games and Apps mostly run horrible, and the Tegra 3 enabled Games start to lag quite abit when alot interaction is going on.
Software-wise, and performance-wise, this phone is capable of so much more. Just look that the Transformer Prime with Tegra 3. It has a similar screen resolution, but almost EVERYTHING runs effin smooth on this baby. That is just ONE proof that HTC ****ed up the rushed release with its buggy software. Cant wait for a new, optimized and more ironed out firmware upgrade!
Camera Performance isn't final as well. I guess the bad performance is due to some missing optimizations, the hardware is great.
Overall, I dont regret switching from my Galaxy S2 i9100 to the One X, knowing it can do even better than it already does.

Broke my Note 2.. wait for note 3 or buy the lg?

Anyone coming from a Note2.. thoughts? I figure note3 will be similar spec'd to the LG with the exception of a better camera and the S-pen. Likely the Note3 will cost $250 more than the $440 At&t has the LG for now. Hmmmmmm. I really do like Samoled Screens .. nothing beats the contrast of them.... ahhh those black levels. People who say the colors are unrealistic and oversaturated are correct at default but need to remember there is a quick setting in Android to mute them.
>>>>>> Note2 to G pro thoughts would be greatly appreciated<<<<<<<<<
I came from a note 2. If you are a Samsung fan, wait for note 3. Otherwise, take the leap, I love this phone. It fits better in the hand, feels more "premium" and the screen is gorgeous.

Ok.. I went out and picked one up..It was $399 at the At&t store.. I thought it would be 439 but I was told that was with sales Tax.. I'm from Oregon so I'm exempt from sales tax. Seems like an insanely good price for a phone outright.. So at that price I can't lose! So I figured it would be Early Sept for info on Note3 and probably wouldn't have one till at minimum late sept early OCt.... and it would likely cost alot more. ANYWAY ... so my first impressions are pretty good, it feels better in the hand than the note2..narrower.. like it felt going from the note1 to the note2. The screen I'm a bit mixed on... on one hand it is definitely sharper and finer and text and whites are noticeably better BUT on the other hand the blacks aren't close to the blacks on the note2.. when using the same wallpaper I was using on my note it looks almost like a different picture... not even close in contrast .... Samsungs display definitely pops more. I'm really surprised on most reviews it's not mentioned.. other than the LG's screen is amazing.. and yeah it's somewhat obvious it's crisper and sharper. I do like the shorcut button.. for quick notes and screenshots easily txt'd to someone. I may miss the S-pen a bit but I hardly used it .. just a nice option.. I think I will definitely use the IR blaster way more than the S-pen so that's a win. Speed wise I know this one is faster than the note2 so no concerns there.. and if battery life is even 75 percent of the Note2 I'll be happy.. hoping it's the same though :good: .... oh yeah Speaker isn't very good on this.. not a big deal to me though.
Welcome Aboard.

very easy wait for Note 3 if money is not an issue, I'm currently using OGP even though it's a lovely device I don't think it will fair well against Note 3.
Cons
LG speaker not loud enough, got used to HTC One.
No development support worse then Xperia ZL, which I thought was very bad.
Brightness level pretty low compared to Note 2 btw I prefer OGP.
I have an S4, Note 2, and an HTC One. This phone looked very appealing out of the box so I just ordered one and am anxious to get it! I will indeed sell it or something else and buy a Note 3 most likely just because Im a device whore as most of us are.

anyone else considering a nexus 6p?

I want to get, but Frost white is out of stock.
And I'm sure performance on our phone is much better, build quality on our phone is much better (look at the used nexus 6P black color, it look very weird, the black aluminum got silver scratches, the front speakers looks very bad when is dirty, and that huge top and bottom bezels are too big.).
But still I'll get that, it's a premium nexus ! Lol Let's try
Ps we are just spoiled it
I might consider it.

If it came to tmo I would consider jumping but I'm really getting spoiled by Samsung pay. Love❤ not needing wallet anymore!
My cards aren't supported with pay?
Ditto I am loving Samsung Pay on my S6E+.
Same here... Sticking with my sammy S6E+ for Samsung Pay and Wireless Charging. I don't care that the nexus has type-c. Plugging it in is still a pain.
No OIS, no thanks.

Is Nexus 5x worth it ?

Hi, is the nexus 5x worth it ? i can get this device from ebay for 316 $ with fedex shiping, so for the price is ok, what do you guys think, should i get it ? or meaby suggest me a better phone at this price range ?
Depends on what screen size you want IMO. If you can deal with something bigger you can get a Nexus 6 or an LG G4 for about the same price.

Yes I just got one for my wife and I've messed with it a little. My only complaints are that it's only got 2gb RAM and she had some issues with dropped calls.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Its a great device, no problem with dropped calls id imagine thats network issues.
Camera is great, screen is lovely and performance is good for me (general phone use no gaming). Battery life is good too.
Only thing id like is stereo speakers, more RAM would be nice but honestly ive not really noticed any issues.
Your budget might be a consideration in your decision. As for me performance wise I don't notice a big difference between the Nexus 5 and the 5x. I do like the finger print scanner, camera is a big improvement and battery life improved. For me the Nexus 5x is everything the 5 was and more. Google supports the Nexus for 3 years and it the first to get updates. One thing that is important to me is the ability to use the Nexus with any cell service, it also has the new T-mobile band 12.
Good luck with your decision.
$316 is a ridiculous price for this phone. You won't be disappointed. If you have access to Project Fi in your area you can save that much in a year. Never an issue with calls or ram usage by me. I use the phone a lot but I'm not a power user so can't attest to ram stuff very much. Couple of really good roms out there and kernels too if you're so inclined.

16gb or 32gb? You can get brand new ones on eBay for $280/330. I picked up my wife's Google refurbished 32gb on Swappa for 290. Not sure if either of these would ship to your country but you should be able to find one under $316.

To me from the software side it feels exactly like my Nexus 5. I have disabled encryption and the phone feels as responsive and snappy as my Nexus 5. Opening different apps is sometimes faster on the 5 and sometimes faster on the 5X. It feels thinner in the hand but ever so slightly wider to use. Fits in my pocket just fine and doesn't feel like a phablet. I would still prefer a phone the size of the Nexus 5 but we don't have a choice really unless we buy a Samsung Galaxy S phone or a smaller Sony phone. The problem with a Sony compact phone for me though is it wouldn't have wifi calling on t-mobile which I need. That limits my choice of higher end phone to basically Samsung or the Nexus 5X (which is more midrange now) I bought the 16GB version on black Friday for $299 and haven't regretted it at all. I have about 10 games installed and have roughly half my space left.

I think this falls into the category of the old saying " ask ten people you will get ten different answers" but that said I will do my best to honestly answer your questions.
I've got large hands and have used my 5x with and without a case and decided not to use a case. I did put a leather textured skin which in my opinion added grip, with the skin I've never dropped the 5x. I did use it for a short time without a case or skin and dropped it a couple times, fortunately on carpet. The skin solved a dilemma, I didn't want to drop and damage my 5x, the skin provided enough grip I was comfortable I wouldn't drop it.
As for comfort in my hands, I find it very comfortable. I've used it to read lots of e-books, always reading one handed. I read a ton of books with my old Nexus 5 and it's almost exactly the same size with a case as my Nexus 5x is without, hits the sweet spot for me regarding size and comfort.
As for the design I think google pretty much nailed it but it's subjective as no device is going to be perfect for everyone, we all come in different shapes and sizes having different needs or expectations. I really like the addition of the finger print scanner but is it in the exactly perfect spot for me? Nope, I find myself putting my finger on the camera most of the time. Some feel a better location is on the front near the bottom but with my big paws I would need to use two hands instead of one handed operation in its current location. As for the size most flagship devices are larger and I don't want or need a larger device. The deciding factor for me between the Nexus 5x or 6P was strictly based on size. I won't deny it would be nice if the Nexus 5x had a more premium look and feel but its certainly not a deal breaker for me. Since most people keep their phones in a case, honestly I'm surprised how much importance is being placed on it.
Good luck with your decision, if you decide on the Nexus 5x I hope it meets or exceeds your expectations.
My "net" upgrade cost from the good old, reliable & solid N5 with 16GB purchased from Google Store as it launch was under $200 including extra USB-C accessories, not bad (sold the almost like new, near mint condition N5 package on eBay) - got the new N5X with 32GB storage via a reseller for $320 shipped. With a solid, hybrid bumper case - it feel nice & good in my big hand, same MM 6.0.1 as the N5, both running PureNexus - not looking for a speed boost, just reliability that I can count on, extra storage of MP3's & MP4's and oh, yes - camera/flash combo - and longer battery life (plus, if necessary - use the fast charger for a quick boost on days with heavy use) Bigger screen is beautiful, although I do "like" Mrs. L's Nexus 6 - she described it as a mini TV screen with great sounding stereo speakers, almost to a point of being too loud (and it's set only midway) - she carried it in her purse or tote to/from work, so not worried about how it "sticking" out (as I would hate to carry the N6 on a belt pouch or clip, whether vertical or horizontal)
N5X is about as big as I would comfortable wear/carry on my belt all day long - and the 5.2" screen is more than very good for maps/navigation. I look forward to using this for 2 to 3 years, if not longer & pamper it like the N5, got the glass protector over the touch screen.
On T-Mo USA's network, I have yet to miss important calls - and, freedom to flash Roms and not having to live with bloatware, etc. - a happy camper.
One minor adjustment, when Mrs. L and I are taking longer driving trips together, her N6 become the default in-dash entertainment unit with bluetooth enabled, woohoo !

L and I are taking longer driving trips together, her N6 become the default in-dash entertainment unit with bluetooth enabled, woohoo !

well, thanks for your time, today i had nexus 5x in hand, for couple of minutes and it feels ok, i come from Htc one m7 and before i thought to upgrade to HTC M8, but nexus 5x is still there , btw the m7 feels way more bette, so my delay is still here : M8 or Nexus 5x :
I came from a i9300 S3, briefly had a Nexus 4 in between, but I am happy with my 5X purchase.
I have my 5x completely vanilla as one of my reasons to get it was not having to mess with the software to make it behave properly and I can tel you it's completely worth it.
Camera is fast and accurate, call quality is great and the feel in hand is wonderful. And the fingerprint sensor works as a charm, way better than my wife's iPhone 6.
Here in Spain it cost me 400€, with its load of taxes and I still think it's worth it. 316$ is a great price.

well, i m going with htc one m8, i dont like the nexus 5x feel, and design .
Meanwhile at my country Nexus 5x is 285 euro

Was going to preorder LG G5 but will wait for M10 now

The value of the preorder for the LG G5 means you get $932 worth of equipment for $632. It was very tempting, but I don't want to preorder it and then wish I had waited for the M10. I really want the M10 to be top dog. Rumor is going around there is going to be a M10+ with a 5.5" screen but nothing about when or where it would be released. That's the one I'd rather have.
I'm waiting too.

Even if it still a rumor, I would stay away for the M10+ and buy the M10. If you look in the past, you'll see that the "+" variant never had good development compared to the non "+" one. Might not be an issue if you don't care about custom roms...
i just saw these 2 videos and i got disappointed with LG, i wasn't going to buy it but i expected more:

All metal? Ha! I'm glad I resisted and didn't buy this. After watching these, I would have been unhappy. Thanks.

That tear down video is a plus for me. The phone is easy to repair! The only criticism he makes is the "lack of premium feel". Personally that is way down on my list of concerns. I am not looking to impress anyone with how great my phone looks and I doubt anyone gives a damn anyway. I look for the features I want first and foremost. I have to admit I was not happy with how thin the glass over the screen is on the other video. That does kind off suck but I don't think it is a deal breaker for me.
I have a G5 arriving tomorrow. The camera and the replaceabe battery are what sold me. The free extra battery and charge case and the free 360 degree camera made me jump on it. I will miss the wireless charging now I am accustomed to it and have charge plates sitting everywhere! I only wonder if I should hold off opening the box until I can find out more about the HTC 10 after it is released on the 12th. I
I believe LG is on to something-- a modular phone has been my geek dream since the birth of smartphones! However, I don't think the first generation "beta" of this feature is going to be where it's at. There are a couple WOW mods (Battery and camera) that are simply awesome, but otherwise this first iteration is just a really nice albeit average phone with some snap-in "meh."
If the M10 fails to impress, the G5 is probably what I'm going to get. I didn't pre-order the G5, so I won't be getting the package either way.
I pre-ordered the G5 as I wasn't convinced of the HTC 2016 flagship a month ago.
However my pre-order for the G5 has now been delayed to the 22nd April and as a result I've been following the build up and now really liking the look of the HTC 10.
If it has a 5.1 inch or bigger LCD (not AMOLED), SD 820, 4GB RAM, I think I'll cancel my G5 and get this. I'd want the black face though, either with silver back or black back, I don't like the white fronted version in the leaks....
Time will tell tomorrow.
The G5 is a flop. Most of the reviews say it's half baked and pretty lackluster. The only good thing anyone has to say about it is that the camera is good.
I am currently using the S7 Edge but I have one more Jump until June. (I am on T-Mobile's Jump on Demand program which gives me 3 upgrades a year). I was going to maybe move to the G5 or the HTC 10 since I wasn't all that impressed with the S7E. After the major update T-Mobile pushed out for the S7E last week, my mind changed and I am now extremely impressed with the S7E. The battery lasts forever and the touchscreen is no longer overly sensitive.
That being said, I will wait to see what the HTC 10 brings. I love the look of the phone and I like Sense more than TW. The only thing I wish it had was a larger display but I can live with 5.2".
At the end of the day, the G5 is already crossed off the list. I played around with one in the store and was totally unimpressed. It felt like crap in my hand. The chamfered edges are too sharp and feel uncomfortable while I'm gaming in horizontal view. The display is also very average. Not impressed one bit. I wouldn't call it bad but it wasn't what I'd expect from LG. When it comes to looks, I know it comes down to personal preference but damn the G5 us fugly. When you hold a S7E next to it, you can just see that the S7E is on a whole nother level when it comes to sleekness. Everything wasn't bad for the G5 though. The UI felt snappy and I didn't notice and lag/jitters.
I like the look and feel of the G5. I think all the phones pretty much look the same and I really don't care that much about it anyone. I don't think anyone is getting laid because their phone is so impressive. I have been wanting a wide angle shooter on a phone for years...awesome! I have always carried spare batteries. I can always go from 10% to 100% in seconds.....also awesome!

LG g5 is DOA. I'm returning mine. Better competition. The build quality alone isn't very good as that gap between the module and Chassis is frustrating. Moreover, the camera isn't as good as the S7 Edge.

I've cancelled my g5 order. It getting delayed was definitely meant to be as I've ordered the htc 10 for only £13 more
After seeing the HTC 10 today it's looking very promising. Much better than the G5.
What do you mean by better? The finish and feel might be slicker but that is not my main concern. I will miss the wireless charging on my S3 but the 10 doesn't have that either. The replaceable battery and wide angle shooter are what makes me want the G5. No matter how great the phone looks it ain't much good if the battery craps out on you at 2AM and you are not at home! Zero to 100% in seconds will always be a winner for me. I always carry a spare battery. No matter how strong the battery life of the S7 is it will not be as good in a year! The fee charge cradle, spare battery, and 360 camera cinched it for me (I see the T-mo offer on the 360 cam had been extended so you can still get it).
Did you see the breakdown review on juryrigeverythind.com (I think that is it)? The G5 will be very easy to repair. That makes up for a little sloppiness in built to me, as long as everything works ok from the start. I think they all look like cell phones. If you want to look cool get some new clothes, nobody is looking at your phone and judging you on it!
None of the reviews fault the G5 on performance, it is a beast. Most of the reviewers discount the friends module aspect of the phone because there are not many now and it is questionable what will develop. Still, the idea that I might get surprised with some cool new module feature is a plus for me. Who doesn't get a little bored with the phone after a couple years? I think the G5 is getting unfair treatment by a lot of reviewers.

The big cross against G5 is the locked (or unlocked custom as seen on Tmobile variant) bootloader. That's a big one for me. I was looking at G5 and gave up on it because of that.
As for battery, I just carry a 10k slab and charge up my phone using that if I am not next to a wall or laptop or pc. Who wants to reboot the phone for a replaceable battery! So, I will likely not use that unique feature of G5 ever.
Going to wait and see what this feels like in hand, coming from 5.5 and up phones I don't want this to feel tiny in my hands.

I've had my G5 for 2 days now. Build is good- the modular piece seams nicely, feels good in hand. Tested for light bleed- minimal bleed on top and only noticeable in darkened room with test app, very accceptable. I read about someone having a proble with the audio jack- mine is very tight. Someone said they had hissing sound with BT- mine is great with my jawbone and my car unit. Battery time is ok, maybe not great, I tend to be a heavy user. Quick charge is very fast, about 1% per minute. I look forward to receiving the spare battery, unlike previous poster I do not mind rebooting my phone, especially if I can go from 15% ot 100% in 30 seconds! Camera is very good, lover the wide angle. It seems that the metering only has center weight and matrix which disappoints but I may not be understanding the interface, need to find a manual, phone only comes with a quick start guide so I guess I can download from LG. Overall I am very happy. Can't wait to play around with promo 360 camera when it arrives!
