[APP] CWM online cloud backups? - Samsung Captivate Glide

Is there any app that will backup cwm backups to the cloud? Such as google drive, dropbox, box, skydrive? Seems all the ones out there only do data, contacts, photos, music, apps, but no options to choose a nandroid backup folder.

Doesn't work for large files.... Bummer
I finally found an app that lets you choose exactly what files you want backed up to the cloud. It's Browser for skydrive app & if you have a hotmail account you get 7gb of free storage. This allows you to back up your cwm back ups & retrieve them wherever you are. It's got a pretty slick explorer 2 pane interface.

Well I thought this would work but I guess these websites don't allow large files or blobs to be uploaded. Bummer

if there any dev that want to create a tiny app that can zip/rar the chosen backup folders and then upload them to one of the cloud services, it will be great
i dot have any knowledge of building such an app, but i recon it will not be a difficult job.

Tried using a Zip App but upload failed

I tried using a couple of different Archive Zip Apps but the uploads always seem to fail. I suspect file size might be an issue with these cloud service sites.

you need to zip/rar to up 100mb per file for box.com or 300mb per file for dropbox.
i'm using my box.com for archiving CWMR backups and Titanium Backup backups.
btw if you also have a lg phone you can get 50gb free for life space on box.com (also there is a workaround for all other android phones)

I just tried using es explorer to login to my skydrive (7gb) & it seems to be working fine without using any compression. Guess those blobs are good for something after all.

He posted below the apk of the new Android Market. Just download and install it with any file manager!
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?31bn3e258jjpj8d

What's new:
- A "carousel" user interface that allows users to flip through featured apps.
- New categories for widgets and live wallpapers, as well as more unnamed categories "in the weeks ahead."
- A unified app details page that eliminates the need to interact with tabs.
- Content ratings for applications
- A reduced refund window of only fifteen minutes.

It works on the sgs, tested it. Rename the file to Vending.apk and push it to the /system/app folder.

Dont like the new market. The green **** (yes.) takes half of the screen space on a 800x480 device that's just dumb. Prolly pushed by publishers in the "featured" who pay money to get there or something.
Descriptions are halved because this green stuff takes all the space. comments, same. List, same.

SugarSync 5GB Cloud Storage (dropbox killer)

SugarSync is the best syncronization solution i've tested so far
some of the features that attracted me mostly
- 5GB of free space (+ 500MB)
- sync the files between all the computers and devices
- music streaming
- photo sharing

Yes, that is one thing dropbox has over SugarSync, Linux support, but I'm sure after the flood of emails they have recieved, they would get it going and have linux support.
I couldn't help but notice in the intro video they talked about a free trial...for 30 days. My question is, how free are these free 5 gigs?

The trial is for the 60GB they offer. The 5GB is free.
Oh, thanks. I thought it was just a lame scam to get people to try it. Sorry, but growing up on the internet has made me suspicious of anything labeled free.
I have both of them. dropbox seems faster and with sugar sync I have issues downloading some files to my phone.

it wouldn't surprise me if dropbox increased its free offerings to match in the near future. for now, i'm up to 6gb for free anyway.
Personally I wouldn't use either service due to privacy concerns.

As seen in the image, I am running low on space. Adding up the used portions of my memory should leave more than 5gb's left, but instead I have only 2.9
Any help?

Usually this is due to nandroid backups.

the amount of space taken up by your nandroid doesn't show up in this screen. you should try downloading DiskUsage from the Play Store so you'll have an idea as to what's taking up space in your phone.
P.S. I am not, in any way, related to or are friends with the developer/s of DiskUsage.
I noticed that when initially 'calculating', there is a 'misc' group where usually nandroid and other big files are but once it finishes calculating it disappears.
I'm not sure why it does that now on jb roms but on ics roms it would calculate the misc group. Or maybe it's just a rom problem but I doubt it.
I'm on aokp btw

Your doubt is justified, it's the same on stock since Jellybean!
I'll check out disk usage. I have no nandroid backups on my phone.

This happened to me before, and i know exactly why, though its pretty situational.
I used Google music to download all of my songs to my device. What I didn't know is that you don't just get copies of the same files you uploaded. What I ended up getting was a bunch of strangely named files in the cache of Google music with a .nomedia file hiding them. My data manager did the same strange disappearing misc. files thing. I tried to unpin the music through Google music, and the space was still taken. I then tried to delete the files from the cache using a root manager, and I couldn't for the life of me free up that space, no matter what I did.
I ended up wiping my data and starting fresh because it frustrated me so much.

What is the best way to import contacts without using google?

Hello Everyone,
I am looking for the best way to import my contacts from my S4 without using/syncing to google. I tried to export and import with the program Super Backup, however my contacts imported to the G4 as a random unmerged mess (random numbers and emails without names, etc.).
Additionally, when I tried to merge my contacts (without using smart contacts) I found that I could not control which contact was primary and which was attached. Sometimes the contact would be found with the full name and would have a profile pic, sometimes the would choose to ignore the pic and go by the nickname.
Any help would be apreciated! Thank you!

Thanks, however, I did not want to replace the contacts app, I just wanted to transfer the contacts without them being a jumbled mess. It looks like if I use this app to transfer them, then delete the app, the contacts will be deleted as well.

You can export them to your storage and copy the file over to your new device.

Using SIM card is a choice. Another way I'm using is AirMore. It is a free mobile app I found in this forum. Tried to copy contacts without any loss. You can search it in this forum.

Anyone notice this with Google Photos?

I have something strange happening with Google Photos. When I go to download one of my photos on Google Photos to my pixel, it will show its downloading it but it's not in my downloads folder, if I try tapping on the downloaded notification it asks me if I want to open it up chrome or another HTML viewer. If I do open it in chrome then this is the URL..
content://com.android.providers.downloads.documents/document/546
I have tried downloading multiple different photos and the same thing happens. Anyone else seeing this?

Yeah, I can see the file in that path which is odd because it use to download them to downloads. Also have you tried opening the file from that path? I did and none of the files open. Photos just opens a blank screen

Hmm. Not sure. Maybe a bug. I found on google product forums a suggestion to use Google Drive to download photos to downloads folder. That worked for me.

Same thing happened to me today. When you restore pictures using google photos, it creates a folder called restored.
I tried to restore 5 pictures from about 5 years back and the same problem happened.
When I restored 2 pictures from earlier this year they were in the restored folder in the gallery.
Edit: went into the restored path using Mixplorer and those pictures that didn't restore are in there. All 55kb, when opened the thumbnail isn't available.
