That one won't work either. There is a specific one on the Samsung website that has to be used.

The one for the GS III should work. They have 11 pin connectors vs the older phones have 5 pin connectors. The 11 pin connector is what allows the dock to have HDMI and USB output over a single port instead of two like Motorola. You can get an adapter so the newer style MHL adapters will work with older phones, but not the reverse.

I had a 5 to 11 pin adapter that I had for the SIII, which also works fine for the Note 2. Since you bought the MHL, just buy the little 5 to 11 pin adapter for it for a couple bucks.

Do you have a link to the one you bought? I have a MHL adapter that worked on my GS II and One X. From what I understand I would have to use a 11 pin MHL adapter with a 5-to-11 adapter to be able to use the same for all three. I thought the adapters were only made for 5 pin phones to use 11 pin MHL adapters. If I can buy a 11-to-5 adapter and use my old MHL adapter with my Note II that would be great.

[Q] USB TV/AV Composite Cable

Hi
I found the following cable in DealExtream:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/premiu...ble-for-samsung-p1000-black-134cm-cable-81876
AFAIK, Galaxy Tab 10.1 Connector is pin compatible to Galaxy Tab (7"),
do you think this cable will work also with Galaxy Tab 10.1?
99% chance of rain. Even though the 30pin connector will go into the unit. From my understanding, the only video out on the 10.1 is HDMI but no one yet knows how.
anyone tried this yet? Would be great to use with old CRT TV's!
According to the Samsung site its not compatible.
Here
Ordered this cable for my GT10.1 and received it yesterday, it doesn't work there's no video output.
But! There is audio output...
Yes you will get audio but no video. Only way to get video is hdmi adapter.

It's MHL. You need a MHL to HDMI chip. There are generic micro usb to hdmi ones you can buy then wire up to the pins in connector. Those cost $7.99 at cheapest and the connector is going to cost you $4.99 unless you gut an existing one and move the pins around
Have u try to connect it not in color code order... try it..

As I recall, the S3 uses an 11 pin MHL adapter and most others are 7(?) pins. Samsung makes an 11 to 7 pin adapter for about $10. I got it and it works.

I recommend buying the samsung stock mhl adapter made for the sgs3. It worked without a problem. I have one personally.

Well the brand name Samsung adapter is best and made for S3 but $40-$50...
The other option that works is using the mhl adapter that was for the S2 and other phones. Can buy for $10 AND also need the 5 pin to 11 pin adapter to use it on S3. Can get that for about $10 too. I did this option and works great. Both parts are generic but no probs. As mentioned in the earlier posts an adapter is needed but wasn't 7 pin... its 5 to 11.

[Q] Micro Usb to Hdmi on Note 8

Hi everyone, just wondering if anybody has found a usb to hdmi cable/adapter that works with the note 8. I want to be able to connect it to my tv to watch movies. I tried connecting my Samsung phone usb to my note and it isn't a good fit. Is the micro port on the note 8 different than a standard micro usb? Thanks for your help. Not sure if it matters, but I am in Canada.
I have tried 5 pin and it does not work so I think 11 pin (the one that work with note 2 / s3) will probably work.

The 11 pin version works. I own one.(the one for the galaxy s3)
A normal 5 pins otg cable also works. In case you wanted to buy that one also.
Best regards,
Niels

The Note 2 Galaxy S3 and after use a 11 pin adaptor. Those work with the Note 8 ( I have one). You can buy a 5 to 11 pin Micro usb adaptor on Amazon.
Today I found a new type adapter by Samsung in a store: White, rated 1080p 60 fps. It has the longer, 11 pins connector. I think it is a proprietary one, based on micro USB. The black HDTV adapter for the SIII uses the same connector. That one has no rating on the box, so I guess that one is only 720p. Both are recognised by my Note 8.0 (it beeps). But I haven't had the chance yet to test them on an actual TV set.

[Q] mhl hdmi adapter compatiblity?

www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-5-Pin-to...Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item5d438ed18f
will any mhl adapter work? or does it need to be a specific mhl adapter for samsung note 8?
I'm currently using the MHL adapter for S3 and Snote 2 for my Note 8 and works flawlessly. I think in order to works best, you need to plug in with the power adapter too which is a faeture of Samsung's MHL adapters
the power adapter?

Every mhl adapter requires you to plug your charger and micro usb cable into the adapter to provide power to the phone while using the mhl adapter. You have to make sure you purchase an mhl adapter that is compatible with Samsung devices. Samsung uses an 11 pin micro usb/mhl port where as HTC only had a 5 pin. My mhl adapter that I used with all my HTC phones will not work with my Samsung devices.

That is not what you need, that is to convert a non-samsung mhl adapter to work with a Samsung phone or tablet. Just search for Samsung mhl and look for one that says it works with a Galaxy s4 or s3 and it will work with the note 8.

Sorry to revive an old thread. I am in the position of looking for an MHL adapter for my Note 8. Can you share the exact model of the one that you have? I would very much appreciate that.
Thanks.
