arrg 4.2 issue! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Starting to wish id never put this update on.
Managed to find an app that removes the pointless lock screen widgets.
Now when my phone is in my pocket, locked, the stopwatch keeps starting up and timing. Funny thing is I cant work out how to replicate what's happeneing .

The clock widget on the lockscreen can be removed, which would probably get rid of your issue, at least temporarily... Don't need an app, just remove clock widget.

How the hell do I get HTC Weather Animations off!?

I just went from Cyanogen to Warm TwoPointTwo and I can't get the animations to go away.
I've tried taking off the clock widget, then putting it back on, UNCHECKING weather animations, and then removing that clock (since i dont want to use the HTC clock) and yet they still show up!
any help is appreciated!
If you are rooted and have titanium you can freeze them. Or just remove them altogether from /system/app
Did you go to display, animation check no animation?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Maybe you should try remounting rw and deleting HTCWeatherWallpaper.apk file? I think that's what it's for. It's the only wallpaper apk I have on my rom. I'd just try pulling it with ADB, then deleting it. If the problem goes away, then cool. If not, put it back as it's probably for something else.
Edit: If you need directions on how to do this, say so and I'll tell you.
Just remove the clock and manually add it back. When adding it back, uncheck weather animations.

Are you using Widget Locker? Cause that'll keep them on even if you turn them off on the clock...you turn them off in there also.

Nah. I'm just familiar with the concept of sarcasm. The OP clearly stated that he removed the widget, re-added it and unchecked weather animations. Then Rydah805 says to do the exact same thing. It's like he didn't even read it.
Help the OP not be sarcastic to other users. it's not a open party conversation. it seems the OP's problem lies in actually "freezing" the app. or just reflash the rom
there is a setting in one of the xmls that actually controls that... i think its in the rosie apk... but i cant remember off the top of my head where i saw it.
its in bool.xml inside /res/values/ which basically presets a bunch of values to true or false... what i think might happen is that the animations were set to "true" and therefore they go on, but for some reason it doesn't get changed... which is very strange cuz it should.
are u using Rosie or a different launcher... and if u r using rosie please let me know if when u try a diff launcher it still does it.
of course i assume u r using rosie cuz otherwise the clock wont work... but u also said u took it off and they still come up.
i dont have time to dig inside for the exact location of that xml... but i hope this gives u something to look into real quick.
You can stop the animation by touching the screen. When you press the power button to wake up the phone, touch the screen right as the animation starts. The animation magically goes away...stops. No big deal. If it still bothers you, just trash the HTC clock widget....download Fancy Widget from the Market and place the Fancy Widget on your screen in place of the HTC one. It also has the weather..no problem...no animation. It has a great clock. The BONUS is the replacement widget gets rid of that FUGLY flip clock from the 80's that HTC thinks so much of, but I think sucks...even on the newest version of HTC Sense that animates the flip as time goes by. This new one also sucks.

Lol I didn't. That should work though and since be did that and it did not work, it sounds like he should nandroid and wipe then reflash his Rom. It doesn't hurt to try. Do you want to disable animations in the app also?(when you click into the camera app.)

[Q] Slide to Unlock w/Pattern

Maybe an odd question.
Is it possible to have the slide to unlock screen available if you use a patter to unlock the screen?
I know if you use a pin the slide to unlock still shows.

Not on an aosp rom, no. On a sense rom you can. Just remove the htclockscreen.apk, and you'll be left with the vanilla unlock screen. If you have a pattern enabled, it still comes up after unlocking the slider. (Again, only on a sense rom)

I'll see if I can't get it added as a feature request for CM.
Try widget locker. Any widget you can add to the regular home screen can be added to the lock screen, including music controls, etc.
I have mine set up such that all the apps I normally use are available from the lockscreen. This way, don't have to multiple tap to get to them.
Don't mind the duplicate calculators..

Does that cause any lag? When I tried widget locker a long time ago, it lagged. My phone on wake up.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
The only lag I notice is when booting, and possibly the first wakeup after sleep after a reboot. There after, it seems to wake up relatively fast (1/2 second?) Is it an instant wake, no, but I can live with waiting a split moment to have the functionality of not having swipe then tap, or swipe then tap twice to get to something.
Like you, I tried it some months back and thought it was a piece of garbage. I was reluctant to try it again, but got spoiled with CM7's multiple sliders on the lock screen. Having returned back to sense for other reasons, I missed that functionality.

Thanks for the response. I may consider giving it another try.
If you plan on using this with cm7, keep in mind, actual widgets on the lock screen only work with the standard system theme. With other themes, the widgets disappear after a reboot.

It's stupid little bugs like this that annoy the crap out of me. So much for final I can't stand the green, so I just have shortcuts on the lock screen. In fact, I could almost tolerate the green, but it changes the theme of the status bar pull down widget to a light grey instead of a more black.

Adding the stock lockscreen is very complicated, requires editing of the framework.jar and android-services.jar aswell as framework res.
I will begin work on it once we have fully functional deodexed rom

If you haven't given widget locker a go yet I would try it.
It's even better if you've rooted and increased your lcd density somewhat (192 seems good to me). I love being able to unlock straight to SMS, Email & camera, while being able to use torch mode without unlocking too... etc.
The old lock screen is still on in the background. Sometimes it flashes up when I unlock. Is it a bad idea to disable through Widget Locker?
I love widget locker, but I'm finding it a pain - my home button first start bypassing it, then when I figured that fix out, hold it down still activates the task manager grr
WidgetLocker is great - I've been using it for about a year but only found out the other day that you can get custom themes for the sliders, and because they're mostly just zipped up image files it was relatively easy to customise.

This is the 5 second problem. It's discussed in the Widget Locker documentation (and in the settings menus too).
If you root your phone you can get rid of it once and for all. Otherwise Homehelper is supposed to maybe help, but I never managed to completely get rid of the system lock screen till I rooted as you can't override the 5 second thing.

Okay. Planning on rooting my advice so may try that. Cheers. What is home helper? Do you mean root helper?
Widgetlocker on my O2 branded unrooted SG2 worked perfectly. However, now I have rooted it and flashed the unbranded firmware the home button overrides it meaning just pressing the home button twice unlocks the phone.
Anyone else with this issue? I have checked to make sure the option to allow the home button to unlock is unticked.
Edit - Ignore me, forgot the Homehelper needed to be set as default.

DO you think it would be possible to add Cyanogen's unlock screen (with rotary unlock and stuff) or would that be even harder ?
I would love to see the AOSP lock screen pop up on the SGS2.
my vote is the puzzle unlock from some sgs models.

That one is built into Widget Locker if you don't mind using that. Given the power and battery life on the phone I'm quite happy to do that. Although my resource reporting apps show Widget Locker as quite a hog.
I hate the Widget locker icon in the notification area. It makes me sad.

Lock screen / pattern lock behaviour

I'm looking for a Galaxy Nexus rom that can be set up to behave like this:
When I turn on the screen, I should get the slide-to-unlock screen. So a single swipe would unlock the phone.
BUT if the screen has been off for more than 10 minutes, AFTER the slide-to-unlock screen I'd like to get the pattern lock, so I have to draw my unlock pattern to unlock the phone.
That means I'd get two lockscreens after each other when the display has been off for more than 10 minutes, but just one lockscreen if the time was shorter.
(This is exactly the way in which HTC Sense worked by default on my old Desire.)
Im currently running rooted stock Jelly Bean, and I'm using Tasker to implement this behaviour. But this is not the most elegant way... so I was wondering if there is any rom that can be configured like this WITHOUT using Tasker...
Interesting request. I've got Tasker setup so it will disable lock pattern while I'm connected to my home wifi. Does the trick for me.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
So far that I've seen, no ROM does this by default. You need to download an app like go locker or widget locker. That's at least what I was told. I posted the same topic here a few days asking if it was possible to do on a system level w/o an app. Only real answer I got was that, yes it is likely possible, but hasn't been done yet.

Ive actually done the same, in addition to my 10 minutes delay.
Still, the task sometimes just doesnt work and the pattern lock doesnt get reactivated as it should... not sure why.

So Ill stick to Tasker for now I guess.
Problem is, it only works reliable when I set the Tasker task to "keep device awake", but then it just eats up the battery...
Most of the time, it also works if the "keep device awake" setting is disabled, but not always...
I wonder why Android doesnt offer this by default, as HTC Sense did. I think it makes perfect sense, since it combines the usefulness of the quick unlock actions (launch camera or google search from lockscreen) with the security of a pattern lock.

+1. I like being able to unlock straight to different apps, but don't want to sacrifice security to do so. Hopefully we start seeing this implemented into ROMs soon, or at least an option to check, in order to allow for it. Thinking about purchasing widget locker until then. :/

Yeah but then I would only have an option to unlock to certain apps while home. Where my brother could pick up my phone and do whatever he wants with it if I happen to set it down. Just as well, if I am out and about I will only have a pattern unlock and I can't open to anything but the homescreen. I want both all the time. Would be nice if I didn't have to spend money on widget locker to do so. Go locker is too much, everything GO is too much. Too over the top. From what I remember go locker always lagged on every phone I used it on too. It's not really that odd, or difficult of a request I'd think. Especially since it was stock like that on gingerbread. Guess y'all forgot since you had ICS and JB for so long. I on the other hand just got my Stratosphere (2.3.5) replaced with this and it was stock on that phone.... Also not that it matters, but what's with the little copy pasta there lol?
Just to update the OP and whoever else this may concern - this is now incorporated into BAMF Paradigm version 2.2.

[Discussion] how many of you use lockscreen widgets?

Hi, just want to know how many of you guys feel that lockscreen widgets are useful and use them. I have never used them till now. Let us know.
Personally, I use dash clock widget with a bunch of extensions. Most of the info I like is all on 1 widget. Missed calls, texts, Google voice mails, weather, battery, BBS, gmail and a few others. As far as other widgets go I also use Google sound search as well as the "my work clock" widget. I can punch in and out without unlocking the phone. Quick and easy:thumbup:
That's really all I use but it all comes in handy I think.
i only use the origin clock

I have one, and it's the camera. I find lock screen widgets annoying.
I never got the utility of the lockscreen in the first place. If your phone is not password/pin/whatever locked, why would you want to touch the screen 1-2 times more just to get to the main screen with all your usual apps/widgets or to the full menu?
And all the info you could put on your lockscreen, you can put on your main screen in a better, more personalized way.
I tried a few times to use a lockscreen (a total of a few weeks over the last 2.5 years), but I always deactivated it after a few days.
Just my 2 cents.
i only use them by accident and that suxx. me wants them gone for good

I guess most of them thinks it's useless. Even I feel the same. I don't understand why Google introduced it.
Probably because they needed to ship some features with the N4 and didn't have much else to present. The whole 4.2 series looks like a cherry picked filler between the JB and next major release.

I use Dashclock, the stock camera widget, and a flashlight widget on a regular basis. The lock screen widget feature certainly isn't groundbreaking or anything and it does seem like a bit of an after thought (for example, Dashclock is what the stock clock widget should have been as others have mentioned). I do like the idea and see it as a quick intuitive way for getting to things quickly without having to unlock your phone first. Sure you had the shortcuts on the lockscreen before that would take you directly to the camera and what not but with the lock screen widgets the operation seems a little faster, more stream lined and fluid.
Really though, I don't see why you would want more than 3 lock screen widgets. There is the main home page one that you see whenever you wake up the phone, which most people have either the stock clock widget or Dashclock and is therefore mostly for informational purposes (do you have any new emails, text messages, time/date, battery percentage, etc). Then from there you can swipe to the left or the right to easily get to the other two widgets which are more functional in the sense that you can interact with them (camera, calculator, flashlight, etc.). If you have a 4th one you have to swipe a second time and at that point you have to wonder "why not just unlock the phone in the first place".
i just hate them i use pattern lock and while i try to unlock the screen moves arrfgghh thts soo fukn irritating :banghead::banghead::banghead:
