I was just wondering, where do the names for our phones come from? For instance our phone is called a galaxy s2 at sprint. But its also referred to as the epic 4g touch and also the sphd710 or whatever. My wife had the galaxy 1 on T-Mobile but it was also called the Samsung vibrant. Now she has a galaxy s3 but she came with with me to sprint. I don't know where to find the name of it on the forums though. Is it the gs3 international? Is there a website that has all of the phones listed with all of their names on it?

There is a reason this phone has the longest name ever, Samsung Galaxy S2 Sprint Epic 4g Touch. Carriers want to re-brand the phone and make it "theirs" (here in the US of A anyway) however, Samsung isn't stupid, they knew what kind of reputation they built around the name "Samsung Galaxy S2," I mean hell I've seen more SGS2 TV commercials recently than I think I've ever seen for a smartphone. Samsung wasn't about to let them take that name away, but they let Sprint slap some crap on the end knowing which name would stick. What does it say on the back of our phones? Galaxy S II, I don't see the word Epic anywhere on here. Now I do think we have one of the better SGS2s, considering screen size and processor, but I don't need the words "Sprint Epic 4G Touch" to distinguish those things.

Atts normal GS2 is the closest to the international one of all the variants and uses exynos. But the LTE ones don't

Exactly. And because Epic Touch has a larger screen, 4G and notification led, it's the best version of GS2 or any other android phone in the us.
He'd probably have to import an international Note just to make up for swapping out the Epic Touch. And that still may not be an upgrade if one cared about 4G (which I really don't, so it would be for me).
Congrats. You just downgraded your service provider and downgraded you device. AT&Ampt is the worst possible carrier and you no longer has the exynos chipset. If i was you i would do an about face. Return your AT&Ampt device. And NEVER EVER look back. Also i hope you enjoy getting limited to 2GB of Data thru AT&Ampt. And getting charged more for less minutes. Enjoy. Lulz.

I want a gNex just to play with. The et4g hardware wise really is the better device, but it has its quirks. Brick bug being the worst, but the one thing I really hate is the resolution at 240dpi is so damn big Stevie Wonder could see it. However I've converted my ET4G to the Galaxy Nexus 2 by disabling and covering my hardware keys, loading aokp and enabling the navigation bar and dropping my dpi to 185. And i get almost double the quadrant the gNex gets so I'm happy and i have the look and feel that is about all the nexus has to offer over the ET4G.

I have both phones, the GNexus definately wins in the GPS part and the roms are great also.
Id do it.
Not as powerful, but it has an HD screen, and the development! Roms, kernels, everything. I would do it just for the development.
