[Q] Where can I find the 4.2 keyboard to be used with 4.1.2 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Used 4.2 stock for a few days, it was absolutely terrible, so I re-flashed back to stock 4.1.2, and my phone works beautifully again.
However I now cannot live without the 4.2 gesture swiping keyboard that came with the new update.
I have searched high and low for this keyboard but all that comes up is an "early version" of the 4.2 keyboard from late oct, and it turns out its quite different from the actual 4.2 keyboard that google put out..
The 4.2 keyboard that is easily available is not nearly as accurate and has this large cartoon looking bubble text that hovers over your swiping. I have this installed now, but its just not as accurate. The official one is substantially better in this regard.
Does anyone know where to find the "actual" 4.2 keyboard that came as part of the official update?
I am running 4.1.2 yakju stock, unlocked and unrooted.

Latest Swype update Sweet!

Just wanted to put it out there that the Swype keyboard has caught up with the best of them really nice work! Gestures and new color themes are :thumbup::thumbup:
White Hot! GS3.
I also like it's ability to back up your dictionary to the cloud. Not exactly a requirement honestly... but it's nice to have.
Cool. Thanks for posting. I wouldn't have know about it otherwise.
I like that it has the voice input like the stock keyboard now. Some prior versions I had used had that but it wasn't in the version for the SIII that I was using. Seems faster for some reason as well.
I love the latest update as well. The heptic feedback works without any lags and the feedback strength is just right.
Is this update enough to stray me away from SwiftKey?
Although I love Sywipe....I've been having problems with the latest updates.
It's started to no play well with a few of my apps; Chrome and CoPilot. It will double up on the words by itself and it's almost impossible to get it to stop. I finally had to stop using it for CoPilot.
This has only been happening on the last update or two.
I've already gotten more keyboard FCs on this update than the entire length of the previous build (2) and now there is major lag when switching between languages.
On the plus side, word recognition is improved, and it now properly inserts spaces between words on forums in the browser such as this one.

I highly doubt it
It's pretty sweet! Thanks OP.
Is the backspacing still screwed up? Won't delete whole words anymore as of the last time I used it

Here's hoping for another update. Mine takes 8 or 9 seconds to pull up three times a day.

4.2 appears to have butchered my Gnex, is it possible to roll back, BUT keep typing?

Used the google services stop trick to force my stock Yakju to OTA update to 4.2 a couple days ago.
Phones been annoyingly wonky ever since. Its mostly just UI stuttering bugs, 50% of the time i'll get a pronounced hiccup when opening the app drawer. Overall "project butter" has been thrown right out the window, most easily noticeable when swiping apps away, but its everywhere. Calendar hiccups and stutters when scrolling across "days". Scrolling through messages is no longer "buttery". Looking at screenshots in the gallery it takes a full 2 seconds for the image to draw to the screen in high res! Donno if this is a bug, but you can literally watch the render from low res to high res climb up the screen.. It never used to be like this. That OS's natural fluidity is just gone.
Where I draw the line is now the stock browser is slow, like "Chome" levels of slow, its absolutely terrible on high content sites, and I also get a weird screen tearing glitch on a few sites.
I'd like to flash back to 4.1.2 but having used gesture typing for a couple days, i simply cannot go back! Before my Gnex, I came from a blackberry, and for the first time since the switch I do not miss my dedicated keyboard! gesture typing is that good!
Is it possible to roll back to 4.1.2 but keep gesture typing? Is there a patch available that would allow me to do this? switch back, but then patch over the 4.2 keyboard?
Edit phone is Galaxy nexus 4.2, Yakju, stock, unlocked but not rooted.

Try the 4.2 Transformation Pack, it has the new keyboard. Just delete the unneeded stuff from the zip, or extract the apk and the lib file from it and push them to your /system.
There are several mods that give you the 4.2 camera, gallery and gesture keyboard for 4.1.

You can search the "Galaxy Nexus" forums and find the 4.2 keyboard, the gmail app and the clock app if you so desire it. I personally like to use CM10 (4.1.2) with the new Google apps. It makes for an awesome experience. BTW You may also wanna try one of the AOSP roms in the threads. They are great sans the bugginess for the most part. My suggestion is to look around, but if you already know exactly what you want, then go directly to it and get it. I didn't go through the problem of searching the threads to find and post them for you because they are very easy to find. My hope is that while searching you may find something else that would interest you. Hope this helps...
BTW, don't know if you know, but when you go to flash another ROM (be it a 4.2 rom or 4.1.2), you will have all your content pushed to a 0/ subfolder. It is an annoying thing caused by code in the 4.2 rom that enables multiple user accounts. If this is a problem for you to (as it is for most people) then you may just wanna stick with 4.1.2 indefinitely. (that is until CWM or TWRP find some way to prevent this from happening)

Awesome, thanks for the link.
Searching the gnex forum for 4.2 keyboard turns up a whole lot of nothing......... Fortunately google searching it got me what I needed.
However the 4.2 keyboard in these links is slightly different then the one that actually came with 4.2 from google, it functions just fine but has this giant cartoon bubble text hovering over everything as you swipe/type out. Any ideas on where I would get the actually(correct) keyboard?
I`d also like to install just the 4.2 *google now* updates, how do I determine which files in that zip are responsible for that part of the update?
I will point out, I highly recommend switching back to 4.1.2.. I didnt realize how bad/laggy/stuttery 4.2 really is, until I switched back, its really night and day. I`m convinced project butter is flat out broken in 4.2.
All is well again in the world
I've been disappointed with the 4.2 update, too. It does bring a lot of stability issues, along with ugly. But CM10 nightlies + 4.2 keyboard and Trinity kernel make for a potent combo. That's what I'll be rocking until the next version of CM comes along, or perhaps an updated version of Android that fixes issues in 4.2.

[Q] Rootbox Digital Keyboard Issues - How To Resolve

Well I purchased a couple of i927r's from newegg, got them updated to ICS, rooted. Decided to go with JB rootbox as it seemed to be what I wanted, simple, effective. Just got both phones activated on ST recently, so far been liking them. But a couple issues I am having with them are primarily related to the digital keyboard. I don't really plan on using the physical keyboard much...the phone was at the right price so I guess it's there if I need to use it. But whenever I try to use the digital keyboard for mms, email, searching I hit one letter and it closes. If you keep tapping the word, the keyboard will come back up, but eventually closing again, usually a few keystrokes later.
Both phones do this, both have the most recent rootbox update via goomanager and teamwin. I would post this in the dev thread, but alas I do not have enough posts to. I am searching, but I can't seem to find an answer. I do like the stock digital keyboard, maybe I should try a different one? Anyone else have this issue? The physical keyboard is okay, but I prefer the digital one even on the smaller screen. Thanks for your time.
Have you tried different keyboards.just saying you can try Swype? Or another from the market and see if it still does it.

The default keyboard crashes when used. It is recommended that a third party keyboard is used until the bug is resolved. There's a fair number available on the play store. Avoid any that are directly based on the jelly bean keyboard

[Q] Samsung keyboard issue (Stock JB 4.1.2)

For anyone else using the stock samsung keyboard on sotck 4.1.2, does the autocorrect function properly? For example, if you write "tgat" instead of "that", will it autocorrect? I'm running the stock Koodo 4.1.2, and the keyboard will not correct it. Although it will show the correct "that" in the prediction bar, and highlight with a slightly darker blue. However, in order to correct it I have to press on the correct word, thereby taking away the usefulness of autocorrect.
Have you guys encountered such an issue? Is there any fix for this problem?
Otherwise, I'm quite liking the stock samsung keyboard.

I can confirm this issue on jedi mind trick rom
I've seen that happen for awhile on many roms ....for the 10 minutes I use it after flashing, then I install my backup of Smart Keyboard Pro and all is well!
But yeah....not sure if there's a solution. I've played with stocks settings and it doesn't change. Just a poor keyboard.
Sent from my cell phone telephone....
I like the look of the keyboard, I just can't use it because if the auto correct

[Q] Android 4.2.2 Keyboard AOSP

Hey All,
Jelly Beer's 4.2.2 update worked great on my Samsung S3. However, I went out and purchased a new Note 2 GT-N7100 T-Mobile T889. I love the phone. The only problem is that I got used to the keyboard that the guys included in with Jelly Beer 4.2.2 update. In the Input settings, the keyboard is listed as Android keyboard (AOSP). That's the keyboard that I want.
The one that came with the Note 2 is Samsung's own and it's awful. Yes, yes, yes, I've installed just about every other keyboard out there. I've purchased the paid versions and all. Still, nothing does the job as well as the keyboard AOSP. I was literally going to toss the phone because I can't type on it. Then I started to use the gesture part of it, and I'm getting used to that. However, I still want the AOSP one. I've looked all over in the Play store and nothing.
Does anyone have the direct link or the actual .apk that I can download?
Would really appreciate it.

I am wanting the same thing.
yes, there is a google keyboard in the app store. but its not the same as AOSP, AOSP has the symbols as long hold on the letter keys. and you can long press the "." and slide to choose ?! and others.
I tried pulling out the aosp keyboard from carbon rom, if I just install it, it works, but no sliding to type (like swype) and if I move it to system/app and set permissions, then reset, it just force closes... so... it kind of works... but I would really like to be able to slide type.
