PhP insurance for the note 2 raising in price soon! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

just informed that the galaxy note 2 for tmobile will increase to 11.99 bundle 7.79 insurance only on 3/17 and deductible of 175 instead of 130.

Wow, that sounds a little high. I hope mine doesn't get lost again. I guess I'll consider myself lucky I had to replace it before this.

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19736_7-57557373-251/t-mobile-could-hike-up-2013-smartphone-insurance/

If that happens Ill be buying a Nexus 4 if something happens to my phone.

You guys do realize that there are other companies that insure for far less and covers a lot more, right?

Squaretrade, I don't understand them. $99 for two year coverage and $50 deductible on the iphone 5 64gb that retails for $799, or $125 for two years coverage and $99 deductible for the $699 note 2. Or the $299 nexus 4.

The more popular the phone = less the deductible because the percentage of people actually breaking their phones is probably less than those that don't. In the end they make more money.

Not doubting you, but then the S3 should be the same price as the iphone.

Squaretrade covers none iphone smartphones up to 499 OR 599 I dont remember which one.

Probably has quite a few more factors into the price, they might want to appeal to apple care folk maybe?

When so many people are buying a single phone (iphone) repair parts are everywhere and inexpensive. The cost of repairing them drops dramatically.

From my understanding, if you already have the grandfathered php, it won't increase to 11.99 unless you remove it or add it on after. could be wrong but that's my understanding. As its this early anything is possible.

I just got a letter in the mail today saying it's going to be a mandatory increase in March and our device deductible is going up to 175.

Would have been nice to be "grandfathered" into a lower price. But that definitely isnt happening. Everyones premium going up.
Thats why I went with square trade.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app

Might aswell not get it cuz da funds saved could go towards a early upgrade for da next note, etc

I was contemplating getting the SquareTrade warranty but it doesn't cover lost or stolen phones does it?

I just received an update in t&c from Assurion. The monthly fee is not increasing, the deductible is.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium

I got the same letter. Monthly going up to 11.99. Deductible going up to 175.
Also got a letter for my husband's S2. monthly staying the same on that, but deductible going up.
As far as not counting for grandfathered plans, I've had insurance for a long time, still on an old plan and we've been with T Mobile for over 10 years since they were voice stream.
The insurance on my note 2 is still going up to 11.99

So I busted my display and SD no logner mounts either. I'm four months out for contract renewl and upgrade pricing. Does anyone have any tips for talking to Sprint and getting it advanced?

SquareTrade vs. Ensquared

Now I understand that there have been quite a few threads on insurances companies but I want to know what you guys went for and why.
SquareTrade covers everything except lost and stolen but i have seen exceptional reviews with them
-They require you to buy their insurance within 30days
-$69 for 1 year (Coverage up to $750)
-$99 deductible
Ensquared does cover lost and stolen and I have seen decent reviews with them.
-They require you to buy their insurance within 90days
-Claims all phones are replaced NEW
-$58.99 for 1 year (Coverage up to $1000)
-Max of $75 deductible on any smartphone
I've read much on SquareTrade but i havent found much on Ensquared in terms of reviews. If anyone does have experience with Ensquared that would be nice. Insurance that covers lost and stolen is golden.
Now there are other companies too such as Negri and Asurion. I've read Negri is unreliable with their umbrella insurance company. Asurion is okay but doesnt cover every carrier.
Input would be great. Remember, we all just want to secure our investments
Also interested. I have a coupon for square trade, but ensquared is tempting with those prices.
Att/Asurion is pushing it with that $200 deductable
I wouldn't recommend Ensquared. Here's why.

Had a friend use Ensquared. She had a At&t Samsung Captivate, lost it, and filed a claim. They sent out a brand new international S2 as a replacement (when they were JUST released).
She later found the Captivate, and they told her she can go ahead and keep both phones. Cool.

So have I, on many many electronic devices.... but their rates are just ridiculous now! Here's an email dated 7.7.07 (odd....)
SquareTrade Care Plans are available everywhere you shop, whether it's Amazon.com, Best Buy, or your local store, and always cost just 10% of the purchase price.

10% of the purchase price? That would have been $15 for me buying this phone.... What about big expenses? Here's one from 11.23.07:

Yes, I did buy my first unlocked, international Windows Mobile phone for $750 back in the day, it was F-ing nuts.... okay, okay, so times change, let's see something newer and more relevant then! On 7.21.10, I bought my girlfriend a warranty for her Captivate, here's the breakdown:
Your Care Plan Summary
Care Plan Price $67.20
Care Plan Term 2 Years
Level of Coverage ADH
Covered Item Phones & PDAs - Samsung
(later on in the email....)
A $50 deductible applies on ADH-related claims for Cell Phones only.

That's on par with today's plans, and they have nearly doubled the purchase price and has doubled the deductible! There's got to be a better solution here, especially when we all baby the crap out of these phones and only have an accident every 5-6 warranties or something....
I haven't had any experience with those two companies, but might I suggest you look into Best Buy? Within the initial 30 days you can add it. Its $9.99 a month, they don't cover lost or stolen, but don't have a deductible. I've used them on my Original Galaxy S II, when the screen broke they shipped it off and then gave me the cash value. I used the in store cash value to get the Skyrocket. Anyway, just an idea!
I think I'm gonna go with ensquared lol

so anyone getting squaretrade on their Gnote?

squaretrade is around $100 with coupon...which is 1/6 of the gnote's price. typically, that ratio for me is about 1/4 the cost of the phone, so it never seemed worth it. my current phone is the evo shift, which i don't think has gorilla glass, and amazingly, doesn't even have a scratch on the screen.
apparently, i'm very careful with my device (even on the second leg of the 2 year contract when i'm less careful with it). so i'm considering whether or not insurance is a sucker's bet or a good investment on this one.
what route did you guys go with?

With S. T. You can always return the unused portion of your warranty. If you buy a 2year warranty and sell the phone after a year and do not choose to include it in the sale then log on and you return the half you haven't used time wise

Sprint can keep their warranty for $11/mo. I'm now paying less than $5/mo with SquareTrade.

Cracked my screen

And it didn't take much to do it either! Was sitting in a patio chair, slipped out of my pocket 18in down to poured concrete. My gnex had taken falls 10x worse and come away unscathed.
Be careful, this big phone is really a whimp in the durability department.
No case, never use them so it is partially my bad but I was really surprised this fall was enough to cause this kind of damage. She is still 100% operational however. I have been quoted $300 and $350 to replace. I do have insurance but am not sure how I will proceed at this point. I may just use it as is for a while versus getting a new one immediately and feeling like I need to keep it in a bubble.
Be careful!

Makes sense. More glass. More fragile.
Mines cracked too. Don't even know how it happened. Store refused to mark it as defect. Sprint is telling me to file a claim with asurion on Monday. Its not on the site yet but I'm willing to bet it's the first 200 deductible. Phone works fine and for the note 1 they sell an outer glass for $30. What to do?

[Q] Selling Questions

Wife and I might be leaving Sprint due to having bad service at home and work, but not in between. How annoying is that if we're roaming and can't use our data? I got a call from Sprint offering a free out on both lines with no ETF due to data roaming that's occuring while I work. We have an Airave here that we got for free (and have no problem sending back to Sprint).
Anyway, onto the question. What price should we be looking at to sell our phones? Both are in great condition -- hers is white, and mine is black. Hers has an Otterbox Defender on it and mine has a Commuter.
I was thinking about $250 a piece for a total of $500 to help pay for our new phones on another carrier.
Thoughts and comments are appreciated! Thanks
I think your price is too high. $200 if you are lucky but $150-175 per phone is more realistic. This phone has been out over a year and used cases have very little value.

150-160 if you want to sell it real quick. 170-185 is where I personally would look for if I'm looking for a used GS2. $200 and above is really stretching it.
I sold mine for $300 on dec 1 with 2 batteries and 3 cases. I put an ad on craigslist nov 31 and by 9am dec 1 I had 3 ppl message me 2 offered 250 and one offered the asking price. It was gone by 10am and I was at sprint picking up my note2

I would've said $250 each at the minimum. Especially if they are in almost new condition since you've had cases on them.
Jist because this phone is a little over a year old it is still a great phone. If they are being sold now at $99 with a 2 year contract, $250 off contract for a like new with accessories is a great deal.
