[Q] Moving files/apps to ex sd card - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I managed to root my phone a few days ago 1 of the reasons I did this was being able to move/install to external sd card. I have a few apps (app 2 sd pro, x-plore and astro) but cant seem to find any options to move files/apps to external sd. Does anyone know of an app that can do this or any info on how to do it with the apps I have. Thanks.

Well, actually i don't "move" them to external sdcard since my 16GB microsd IS my internal sdcard so i can play big games and etc. You just need a modified vold.fstab
Check out my dropbox folder and download the modified version
http://db.tt/iY3uYjRZ
Then flash the zip using custim recovery

any ideas? I only rooted my ace 2 for the internal external sd swapping..

root of sd card doesnt mean to make a folder named root then put file in it. It means dont put the file in any folder just paste it on sd card.

link2sd cannot mount its scripts on stock roms!! That's why you cannot view the 2nd partition!!
@leodasal2
No buddy.... I'm using link2sd on stock rom... And it's working awesome.
I think he doesn't have problem with ext partition but the fat32 partition
This happened to me once your sdcard must be failing, you better backup your data before it says format unable to read device

Ya I'm on stock kernel as in signature, and I can create link also.
No problem at all.
Im also on stock Rom& stock kernal and link2sd is working perfect for me....
but i had these problems before....
I experimented many times by relinking and recreating mount scripts...but the problem came once in a while.
But after that i've backed up the .apk s and cleaned up the second partition and cleared data(settings-applications-manage-link2sd-clear data button) and now again used link2sd, created links and now the mounting problems are over! hoo....
Try formatting your sdcard,
Backup first in your pc, or delete your ext partition using minitool partition or easeus partition, make it (your sdcard) empty , copy paste cwm to your sd, and flash it via recovery , goto Advanced n then choose Partition SD Card . Hope this help..
Also, if its not working again, try deleting "content holder" or something like that, on /system/sd . Use root explorer (recommended) .

[Q] Problems flashing roms with CWM/TWRP

Hello, I've been trying to flash a rom and keep getting this error on TWRP:
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to open zip file.
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/update.zip'
Updating partition details...
Failed
I tried downloading a different ROM (ParanoidAndroid, then ParanoidKANGdroid, then CM10), installing from the external SD card instead of the internal one, switching from CWM to TWRP since some people have been complaining about CWM recently, and I just keep getting the same error.
Also, when I try to install the zip file from my computer instead of my phone, it won't let me put the file in any of the SD card's folders, so I'm not sure if that's normal/relevant to the problem. Would installing a custom kernel or trying to partition the SD card help? I don't have an SD card reader unfortunately but I'm pretty sure it's in fat32 format.
Thank you very much!
Whenever I get "bad" (followed by an Android robot on his back with a red shape on his front) while installing it usually just means a bad download.
Re-download to another folder (if you can download FROM your phone directly to your phone) I find that works really well.
Alright, I'll try downloading again, thanks. I have saved it in both the downloads and the ROM folder I created myself with no difference though.
I tried downloading CM10 directly from my phone to my downloads folder and still got the same error.
I had problems flashing a particular rom. Same as your having, I use TWRP. If you read in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034844 others have same experience. There are some solutions and something about editing a script.
Sorry I can't be more helpful but this was a bit more than I could take.
Thanks! I'll be sure to read through it. No amount of help is too small at this point lol.
If your sd card is 64gig you have to use win util to format it to fat32. Google format 64 gig sd fat.

You can take out the variable of the MicroSD card and flash from the internal SDcard.
I've tried both; thanks though.
What version of TWRP/CWM are you using?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
TWRP 2.3.1.0 and CWM 6.0.1.2
Sounds like you are having filesystem corruption issues. I would suggest formatting your internal and/or external sdcards.

I just ordered an sd card reader so I'll check it out, thanks. I don't think I've done anything to corrupt the filesystem though. Do you think it was already corrupted when I bought it?
Stuff happens. Filesystem corruption can be cause by almost anything. Typically it happens when your device random reboots.

This may be off base here, but are you selecting the option in your recovery to "flash update.zip" rather than manually browsing for the ROM Zip?
I've tried choosing the "flash rom" option from the Goo Manager app as well as the "install" option from the recovery menu.
Same Prob, escalated...
I was having the same problem. After some research I found a tip to Delete a portion of coding in the begining of the update-script zip file. Only now it is unable to open and read the zip file. I too was doing from computer via external sd card. Have you gotten any where since?

Internal SD and AOSP roms

Tried Google search and didn't get an answer to this. I flashed the PACman ROM yesterday night, and after everything booted I couldn't find my internal SD card with root explorer. Where would it be stored? I loved how responsive the ROM was and would like to try it more, but I have things on my internal SD that I need to access.
Also the SD card was not erased. I use TWRP and did a factory reset/wipe cache/wipe dalvik before I flashed. I restored my nand after trying out the ROM and everything was still there on my internal SD after reboot.

When you flash an aosp 4.2.x ROM you will get your internal SD card repartitioned and you will have a new "0" folder upon boot and all your data should be in that "0." This happens to every 4.2.X ROM because when the new update was introduced there's a feature that allows multiple users that does this. If you want to reverse this and get rid of that "0" folder so your stuff gets saved correctly and you can access it at ease first, copy all your data from that 0 folder out to the root of your internal SD. After you have moved the contents delete the folder. Now the folder might not delete because its encrypted to prevent that so all you have to do is rename that folder and reboot TRWP recovery. If you have cwm I would flash twrp because cwm doesn't have a file manager. That being said once your in recovery hit advanced I believe and then file manager. Scroll and find internal SD, then find that folder you renamed and open it. Now at the bottom right it should have tap select and then tap delete and swipe to delete it and you should be done. Hope this helps

OK so issue is partially resolved. When I am in pacman from 4-2-13 I can only see part of the files on my SD card. I cannot see anything on there from the last 60 days or so. I have been running TW ROMs for a while and in root explorer my internal storage shows as sdcard0 for them. Is that causing some sort of conflict with how 4.2.2 reads my SD card? How do I get everything on my internal to show in one folder? I thought about renaming sdcard0 to just sdcard on my TW ROM and then flashing 4.2.2 but I would rather ask before doing so.

Sdcard0 is the factory name to your internal SD card no need to mess with that, but inside that directory will be the "0" folder which is where all your stuff is if its not in there maybe its in your external SD if you have one I know my phone switches back and forth it gets annoying but I can handle it.

Formatted SD / Internal Memory

Hey guys , seeking help from the pros here.
I tried to install a new rom yesterday and mistakenly hit the format SD option instead of format System to clean phone before installing a new Rom. Now my problem is my internal memory has no files now, when going in cwm and trying to install rom from internal memory it says there are no files.
So i was wondering if anyone knows a way i can flash files back into the phone, i tried Odin and some of the flash stock rom guides here but i boot loop and it removed my cwm, so when i go into recovery i actually go into androids stock recovery mode. I have tried to flash cwm again and that seems to work but still no files in the phone. Help.

You should be able to mount sd card from recovery. Choose that option in advanced. I use twrp now and it's a bit easier to use than com. Once you mount the sd card find it on your computer move the rom zip there. Now unmount the sd and flash away.

Twrp seems easier to use and it has big buttons with the touch screen.
If you have an external sd put the rom on it from your pc. Then select external sd from twrp by touching it where it says internal and select external. Now flash a custom rom.
