dsixda's Kitchen - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hi All,
I'm looking to make a stock rom and remove some bloatware. I just need a little push in the right direction. I have rad about ftf, system.image, tar...
I have dsixda's kitchen setup and downloaded the ftf file and if some kind soul could help I would be very gratefull.
So my questions are;
1. can i use the downloaded ftf file as my base in the kitchen? or do i need to convert it?
2.
Ok maybe one at a time.
Thanks for any help.

You can use the ftf file as the base.
However in kitchen software, it need you to extract the system folder from you ROM.
Just extract it by using Flashtool SIN extractor for your system.sin inside your ftf package.

Flash the latest firmware and root it. Install cwm recovery. Don't install any mods. Create a backup and copy the system.ex4.tar from recovery backup folder to pc and unzip using any archive manager. You will get the complete System folder. Zip it and use as input for Rom Kitchen.

Help! I cant flash rom 0.42, 0.58

i437.photobucket.com/albums/qq99/nhai_b2f/error.jpg
I got this error when I load rom 0.42 ; 0.58 by flashtool 0.9
but, with 0.62, it can load usual!
Please help me to fix it!
p/s: Sorry for my English! Hope you can understand!
I have the same issue with Flashtool on my R800a. I have not been able to solve it yet, but I have found another way to flash these roms; but you need fastboot for it to work.
I extracted the files from the FTF file using 7-zip, then I would start Flashtool in fastboot mode and flash the "system.img" file that was extracted from the FTF.
I also had problem with same error but i manage to solve it. You basicly have to replace (overwrite) .62 files with .42 firmware files within .62 archive. I was using total commander, but if you don't understand, i can try to explain it... Just tell me what program u use for opening zip/rar/7z archives?

(Dev){sony}[Q] Make .sin Rom file

Hi
Is there anyway to make .sin file from the system folder and put it into a ftf file and flash it through flash mod?
If we could did it we could flash custom Roms like stock...
And a lot of good things too...
Unfortunately, no. You can only make a ftf file for stock firmware.

No. Ftf file must be signed or it cannot be flashed via flashtool. Locked or unlocked bootloader determines whether you can flash custom kernel our not.

They can be signed
Jst imagine what I am thinking and tell me if it will work or not
To extract .sin files from an ftf first we change its extension to .zip first or open it with a app like winrar, so basically its a zip file
We can change its extension, sign it using a zipsigner and change ita extension back to .ftf and Bam! Its signes
But not by Sony
Does it need to be signes by Sony to flash??
Maybe someone can try this? But to try I recommend only flashing system or data or cache, not kernel or anything
So exclude kernel or just remove the kernel.sin all together
I got a locked bootloader so sorry cant
But do u catch my drift here?
Think like a mad scientist

I tried that last time with a SIN file, couldn't open it in WinZip.

Hi
If we don't extract ftf file and just drag new sin file (system.sin) and replace it , that is signed by Sony yet(remember if we do s.th like this with an update.zip(replace just the same file that already exist with new file with same name)it is flashable yet...
So if we don't extract ftf file the sign signature will not change...
So we can flash it...
Just help me to make .Sin file...
unfortunately the ones that can create sin files are Sony
sin is an signed img file , signed with se certificat and we dont have that certificate
img file is an yaffs2 image

You can find a good stock based ROM and flash it from the recovery.
just flash .96 firmware ftf file through flashtool......
Please provide me the links where I can get the original firmware.
try this...http://d-h.st/e0a... or...this....https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-Eeawe_SEpJc0MwRkpxZlFEcnc/edit
hope this helps..
Mohit. I have downloaded this file but when I paste it into flashtool's firmware folder, it doesn't recognize the file. It is a zip file and when I unzip it, I get a lot of files with .sin extension. Please suggest me what to do. I have installed every driver, put my fone into usb debugging. Allowed unknown sources, boot loader unlocked, almost every thing is done but in the flash mode when I klik on flashmode, I get a pop up where I have to select the firmware, but the zip file or its extracts are not shown there.
The flashtool is asking for ftf files and I dont hav any ftf file

If you have an unlocked bootloader and a custom kernel with CWM embedded into it you are able to download that file to your phone and flash it through CWM.
If you have a locked bootloader however you have two options;
1) Download the file to your phone and then extract it. After extracting it you are able to move all of the files in the .zip to their relevant place on the /system partition.
2) If you don't want to do that you can download Flash Gordon and install that to your phone (search it in the forums) and then download the runtime.zip to your phone and then use Flash Gordon to flash it for you. Flash Gordon is similar to CWM, however you cannot flash ROMs in it and you don't have to reboot your phone until after the mod has been installed.

Bro download the runtimeskin.zip and extract it (and you will get two folder named system and meta-inf ) move the files from the system folder to its respective places i;e (to system/etc/permission and system/framework) in your Xperia using root explorer and reboot your phone and don't forget to clear the cache and data of play store and play services.

[REQUEST] [SM-A720F] Stock Oreo kernel image

Could someone please provide the stock Oreo kernel for the SM-A720F, in IMG format (flashable in TWRP)? Alternatively, does anyone know how to extract it from the original firmware package? In that case, I can do it and share here for others. Thanks!
Extracting "boot.img" from stock firmware isn't too hard.
1. Download your firmware on a desktop.
2. Extract AP.
3. Using 7 ZIP modded extract "boot.img.lz4" from AP.
4. Open "boot.img.lz4" with the same app and extract "boot.img". Then flash it into TWRP.
I hope that helped!

Thank you! Precise and straight to the point, worked like a charm!
As promised, to others who might be interested, find below the stock Oreo boot.img for the SM-A720F (A720FXXU3CRD3):
Mega - A720FXXU3CRD3_boot.img.zip
Obs.: this is not a flashable ZIP, I may update this post later if I make one; nevertheless, the plain IMG file should be flashable in TWRP as it is.
