[Q] Xperia S, lost its default apps - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hello. I had my Xperia S rooted with kingroot and I had also installed Lucky Patcher to block ads in the apps. My cousin was playing with my phone and when I got it back I found that many apps are misbehaving. I simply unrooted my fone and made a hard reset. When my fone rebooted Igound that many apps like fFacebook and fm radio are missing. Please help me to restore my phone.
Thanks

You can find a good stock based ROM and flash it from the recovery.

just flash .96 firmware ftf file through flashtool......

Please provide me the links where I can get the original firmware.

try this...http://d-h.st/e0a... or...this....https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-Eeawe_SEpJc0MwRkpxZlFEcnc/edit
hope this helps..

Mohit. I have downloaded this file but when I paste it into flashtool's firmware folder, it doesn't recognize the file. It is a zip file and when I unzip it, I get a lot of files with .sin extension. Please suggest me what to do. I have installed every driver, put my fone into usb debugging. Allowed unknown sources, boot loader unlocked, almost every thing is done but in the flash mode when I klik on flashmode, I get a pop up where I have to select the firmware, but the zip file or its extracts are not shown there.

The flashtool is asking for ftf files and I dont hav any ftf file

[Q] Stock .42 ROM

So originally my phone was on firmware 4.0.2.A.0.42 straight out of the box; it was carrier free too so no carrier bloatware. I had the phone rooted (kept the bootloader locked) but my phone developed a physical fault so I had to send it in for repair. Before sending it off I unrooted my phone via SEUS, which upgraded the phone to firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62.
As I understand, that firmware cannot be rooted. So I want to revert back or downgrade back to the Stock Carrier Free UK rom of version .42. How do I go about doing that, whilst keeping my bootloader locked?
Just flash a generic .42 ROM with FlashTool

Where can I find it though?

Cheers man. But I don't know how to flash (to a locked bootloader phone)
Also, once flashed, can I use the zerGrush tool to root again?
If you use Flashtool it will do all the work for you EVEN with the locked bootloader.
yes you can use ZerjRush

Just noticed, there is no LT18i firmware 4.0.2.A.0.42 for the Arc S, just firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62 which is what I don't want
1) Hey.. If u see.. on the same page, u'll find a pre rooted .62 firmware.. Flash with that.. u'll not need to root it explicitly..
2)to flash any ftf u'll need the flash tool.. if u dont have it.. here is the link...
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Download the flashtool for windows and install.
3)after installation check for the firmware folder under the flashtool main folder(where u have installed the flashtool)
4)now copy the downloaded .ftf file and paste it under the firmware folder. now 5)open the flashtool and click on flash..
6)now a popup window will come, select the first option of flash mode and click ok. the .ftf file will be listed automatically
7)dont change any settings and click ok
8) now flashtool will ask for the phone to be connected in flash mode..
9)so switch off ur phone and connect it to PC via USB by keep pressing the Back button on ur phone. Once it is connected, the flash tool will start and complete it work. after the flashing is done remove the phone and switch it on.. Click thanks if this helps u...

Thanks but I found another way to downgrade to firmware .42. I used the Wotan client, and then used Zergrush method to root.

(Dev){sony}[Q] Make .sin Rom file

Hi
Is there anyway to make .sin file from the system folder and put it into a ftf file and flash it through flash mod?
If we could did it we could flash custom Roms like stock...
And a lot of good things too...
Unfortunately, no. You can only make a ftf file for stock firmware.

There ia a tricks to make a ftf file but they are not signed by sony and hence not flashable on locked bootloaders
I dont know about unlocked
Also it makes it from a persons own system folder already in phone

No. Ftf file must be signed or it cannot be flashed via flashtool. Locked or unlocked bootloader determines whether you can flash custom kernel our not.

They can be signed
Jst imagine what I am thinking and tell me if it will work or not
To extract .sin files from an ftf first we change its extension to .zip first or open it with a app like winrar, so basically its a zip file
We can change its extension, sign it using a zipsigner and change ita extension back to .ftf and Bam! Its signes
But not by Sony
Does it need to be signes by Sony to flash??
Maybe someone can try this? But to try I recommend only flashing system or data or cache, not kernel or anything
So exclude kernel or just remove the kernel.sin all together
I got a locked bootloader so sorry cant
But do u catch my drift here?
Think like a mad scientist

I tried that last time with a SIN file, couldn't open it in WinZip.

Hi
If we don't extract ftf file and just drag new sin file (system.sin) and replace it , that is signed by Sony yet(remember if we do s.th like this with an update.zip(replace just the same file that already exist with new file with same name)it is flashable yet...
So if we don't extract ftf file the sign signature will not change...
So we can flash it...
Just help me to make .Sin file...
unfortunately the ones that can create sin files are Sony
sin is an signed img file , signed with se certificat and we dont have that certificate
img file is an yaffs2 image

[FTF] Xperia ZL (C6506) 4.2.2 - 10.3.1.A.2.67 - Generic US

Here is the FTF for the C6506. Flashed it on my own ZL so I'm sure it works.

Thanks
Crash338,
I just want to be clear on the steps for rooting with the files you provided:
open FlashTool and flash the part 1 file
now once flashing is done reboot device and connect to PC in usb debuggin mode
CLOSE FLASHTOOL <<< VVVIMP STEP
extract the file DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip to root directory on c:\
execute runme_ file corresponding to your OS on desktop PC, this will execute a SPECIAL version of easy rooting toolkit <<< VVVIMP STEP
after rooting is over the device will restart
you can verify if device is rooted by checking for SuperSU app (it is the newest version)
once thats done now power down device and open FlashTool again
now flash part 2 file
thats it after flashing is done just disconnect and power on device and enjoy rooted phone!
!!! Please don't flash part1 on its own !!!
(Probably can't, anyways, but don't try =p)
We flash .ftf files. The OP could not post the file directly, due to size limitations on the fileserver. Please download the 2 parts, then *decompress* using, for example, 7-Zip (www.7zip.org)
You will get 1 large .ftf file.
Then flash via flashtool, etc.
Cheers
Edit: typos
Thank you for clearing that up. Next question is what is the second file I flash? According to doomlord's "how to" you have to flash a second file
Edit: my problem was I was using wrong flashtool. I went to sony website and dl their flashtool which kept asking me to ul bl. Now I have a new question as I figured this out but still didn't get root. Did you flash the whole file or did you just check the kernal box during flashing. I checked the kernal only box and got no root. Was afraid of losing data
Hello,
The instructions from the thread below should be pretty self-explanatory.
link here
The idea: old kernel has exploit, but newer ones closed the exploit.
Fortunately, even on locked bootloader, can re-flash older kernel only.. get root.. then re-flash new kernel, and keep the root.
To be clear:
- flash full new ROM (which includes new, no exploit kernel)
- flash old kernel only
- get root
- re-flash new kernel only
(Note: my terminology may be off; the gist shoukd be ok)
Edit: typos, clarification
Thank you, I think I may have done it backwards and flashed all BUT the kernal. DOH!
Woah, didn't check the forum in a little while, thx for clearing up everything spamam1 :good:
Performed tonight and all is as it should be. Thanks for the help

I'm assuming you are trying to root your phone so just unselect everything apart from the kernel when flashing.

Hi, I've deodexed the /system partition to the most recent update (at the time of writing), 15.5.A.1.5, of the Sony Xperia M DUAL SIM.
The files have been taken from the C2004 ftf, but will work perfectly fine on the C2005 too. The deodexed files come in a neat .zip for if you have an unlocked bootloader, if you don't have an unlocked bootloader please refer to this guide on how to push the files to your device.
I have also modified the services.jar file to enable SUPERUSERMOD, just push the new file to your device and enjoy. You also need to be deodexed to use SUPERUSERMOD.
I will keep this thread updated if any new firmwares get released. Just check back after about a day and I should have them up for you.
15.5.A.0.18 files:
Deodexed files
services.jar
15.5.A.1.5 files:

I never actually stated how I made these files, for the deodexed files I used the Kamome tool (thanks for your tool @AndroPlus) and for the SUPERUSERMOD I followed the guide by @DavidMKD.

If it has booted correctly, go to /system/app and /system/framework and see if there are any .odex files in both of them folders, if not then it is.

1) This is not the thread for that discussion, however I cannot be bothered to send you to another thread.
2) You need an unlocked bootloader for CWM, you need a custom kernel.
3) Back up all your data using titanium backup, then move it all to your computer.
4) Unlock your bootloader, this will cause a bootloop so you WILL have to flash stock firmware with flashtool. DO NOT make any more threads complaining about what has happened and how to fix it, I have just told you and there are guides on here on how to flash stock firmware, use them.

If you're trying from your phone, try installing something like ROM toolbox (it includes an unzip tool). I'm suggesting this as back in the days of 2.3 I couldn't download zip files unless I had an unzip tool present on the phone.
If that doesn't work, try downloading from a computer.
Also, try multiple browsers. Especially if one browser doesn't work.
But as I have said and shown, it works perfectly fine for me.

service.jar goes into the framework folder. Paper13579 made a guide on how to move it manually, just skip the parts what tell you to download files in their guide.
Or if you have an unlocked bootloader and recovery, drop the service.jar file into the deodex zip in the framework folder.
And I don't think there is a sure fire way to see if it is enabled, apart from installing a modded system app.
please create mirror link for 15.5.A.1.5 services.jar . I cant download it, says network error.
