Scratch Dummy Skins for the SGSIII - Galaxy S III Accessories

Recently, I ordered in a black carbon fiber skin for the back cover on my SGSIII from the Scratch Dummy store on eBay.
It only cost me $.99 with free shipping (only took two days to arrive) this is my text review of the product. The full coverage only costs $1.99.
You can find it here: http://stores.ebay.com/scratchdummybrand
Along with their entire store at: http://scratchdummy.com/
Pricing
It only costs a dollar so you really can't go wrong there. I bought it out of sheer curiosity to customize my SGSIII a little bit more. For a buck, I would say that it's worth every penny. I consider myself a cheapo that sometimes sacrifices quality for price, but in this case, I would say that I paid for a high quality product that should be valued at a higher price.
Quality/Durability
I actually did some scratch tests after installation just to see how well it would stand up. Of course, I did the blatant key and coins pocket test while Christmas shopping for a couple of hours and my phone was completely fine. The skin itself did not scratch at all. I didn't take a drill or a razor to the skin, but I can tell that this is a product that will last. Especially given its pricing.
Look
It's the pretty common carbon fiber pattern that I think looks great. I ordered the black carbon fiber, but they carry white, grey, and pink as well. Additionally, I ordered a clear version that should be arriving next week.
Installation
Installation was a breeze. It was a wet installation, much like when you install some other protectors. They did not include a cleaning cloth or any solution but they do give some instructions on how to make the application solution from their website and included instruction sheet. I had a bunch of microfibers laying around (and i'm sure most of you do too.) Applied and left it to dry for about 3 hours and I was good to go.
Comparisons
This is truly the cheapest skin you will find (not from China.) It's advertised as being American-made ('Murica). A full body kit (Carbon fiber) only costs $2.99 from Scratch Dummy. Compared to the $29.99 (Carbon fiber) and $24.99 (clear) pricing that Ghost Armor offers. Quite honestly, the material is of similar quality. For a fraction of the cost.
Conclusions
It's the cheap man's Ghost Armor/Zagg. I think that it performs well and still allows me to use a case if I want. I'd say give it a shot, and if you don't like it, you're only out a dollar. It's really worth a try, in my opinion. I know a quality product when I see one, and this is definitely something that i'd recommend to you guys.

Thank you for the review dude, I was looking for something like this because I wasn't really shure about buying this brand because of the really really cheap price.
Now that I've seen you review I'm totally going to buy it right now. :good:

Ive has this for about a week now. Very very nice quality. I wouldve uploaded pictures but I thought you would do so. But I got the black carbon fiber back protector

Vinyl Skins for Archos 101/70

Hi guys. I posted this in General this morning, but I think this is a better place... if a mod sees this please move/delete the post in General.
Check this: http://www.decalgirl.com. I know this place from some time already when I bought them for my iPod.
They make vinyl adhesive covers for almost every device in the world, and some of them look really cool, specially the rugged ones. The material (rugged) has very good quality and they send it by regular mail including a key to download the desktop wallpaper that fits EXACTLY with the design, making the customization very good.
Its very easy to place as the adhesive material which is made of can be placed and removed as many times as you need, and it will keep your device away from dirt and scratches. You can even have more than one and switch them when you want, as they're easy to remove and they can be placed again even if several days/weeks have passed.
Yesterday I went to check if they had covers for the Archos 70IT, and found they only have for the 10.1, the 4.3 and the old archos as the 7HT, that's slightly different from 70IT, so they wouldn't fit.
I posted a "Device Suggestion" asking them if they would support the Archos 70IT in a near future, and this is their reply:
We do not have that device currently. What I can do though is have it added to our list of devices to discuss with our development team.
If the device is really being marketed or we get a great response from consumers there may be a great chance we will do it.
We release about 4-5 devices per month so are always looking for devices to bring in.

Maybe if enough of us ask them to make it, they will do... I would love to get covers for the A70IT cause they make it look really cool and customized. Will anyone lend a hand and help me asking them to make it?
Cheers
They seem expensive at $20. For press/apply vinyl, I wouldn't expect to pay more than $5. There are folio cases available in the $20 range, after all.

I agree they're expensive.. but anyway, folio cases and this kind of vinyl skins are not the same animal...
Guess you're paying the design and giving your device a "unique" or "cool" looking more than protecting it...

Skinomi has skins that come with screen protectors. They have clear, carbon fiber, and natural wood skins. Unfortunately the carbon fiber and the wood skins for the 70 still show out of stock when you try and order them. I plan on getting the dark wood skin once they are available. 24.95 for the 70 skin and you can usually find a coupon to use with the purchase with a quick Google search. They also have a lifetime replacement guarantee.
Skinomi is finally are showing the Carbon Fiber and Natural Wood skins for the 70s as in stock. Just ordered the Dark Wood skin. They are $24.95, used the coupon code "get25" to save 25% and it was free shipping. All together cost $18.71.
Hello,
OMFG They are really expansive i got an rubber case for about 15DOLLARS.
Got it from Amazon.
you should buy that.

My TPU Fusion Review

So I ended up wanting a MT4G case and came across this site through a friend who bought a similar case from ambitronic.com.
Wondering whether to get the TPU Fusion Case? Look no further!
Shipping:
The product came relatively fast. When I got my final order, all they allowed was first class shipping, but it was only about $3. I ordered my product on Saturday, was notified that it shipped out on Sunday, and it came on Tuesday afternoon.
The website said that it was "delivered" on Monday when I checked, but when I went to check the UPS tracking number it just said sorted. So if you're wondering why the case hasn't come, check the UPS site and be patient, it's worth it!
Pricing/Value:
This is where the product shines. The case was only $3.40, and I bought a $0.95 screen protector with it. I also used a promotional code that docked off 10%. Unfortunately, shipping was $2.95 (still not that bad for first-class), so my total came out to be $6.87.
The Product(s):
I bought two things:
The Black TPU Fusion Case, and
a MT4G Screen Protector
The case itself is pretty good. All the holes are in the right places, and it fits really well. It does not add any noticeable bulk, and although it was somewhat difficult to get it on my MT4G in the beginning, it gets easier as time goes. The side grips are really nice (they're textured for easier grip), and I have 99% confidence that I won't break my phone as long as I have this case (the other 1% is if I keep it in the washing machine ). I had an issue with the power button being too hard to press at the outset, but as time went by, the issue got better and it's much easier to hit the power button.
Note: The TPU Fusion cases for this product only come in Black (+$0.45), Clear (+$0.45), and Red. I got the black one, and it looks really sleek on my black MT4G.
Now, the screen protector on the other hand was not useful at all. The product said that it would come with a soft card, but it did not. The thing also did not come with any instructions, so I ended up having to check how to install it on XDA. After cleaning the glass screen with the microfiber cloth and applying the screen protector, there were too many air bubbles, and I realized that the screen protector collected dust quite easily. I ended up having to trash it.
Overall:
4.75/5
Great product, great company.
-0.15 for the worthless screen protector
-0.10 for only 1 shipping option (shipping ended up being about 45% of the cost, but it was relatively cheap, so I can't complain too much).
Get it here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I shot them an email, and here's what I got:
Hi, thank you for your honest opinion on our product and service. Your support is really important to us. We have just issued you $0.8 credit (Rounded it up) via paypal.
Regarding the screen protector issue, it used to include a soft card inside the package but it seems our supplier did not include it in this shipment. We have removed the word "soft card" from our description to avoid being misleading.
If you did not get another screen protector for the Mytouch 4g yet, we would like to re-send you the screen protector for free. Hopefully, this time it can do its job. Please let us know and have a good night!
Sincerely,
Dale

Lol, made me buy one also. I also read the extended battery thread and that made me buy one before I read this. Now I don't know which to put on unless I cut the case to fit the battery.

Exactly. I may just cut the TPU case to fit the battery.
I did not like this case. I found it to added far too bulk to the phone.
However....I cut the top off of it and hot glued the case to the armrest in my car. (It looks clean I swear!) So now I have a great holder that my phone slides in and out of easily that keeps it nice and secure where I can see the screen to know who's calling before answering on the bluetooth.
It's a GREAT phoen case for this purpose. And I'm thrilled with my purchase.

I got a TPU Fusion case when I got my phone. I'm pretty pleased with it overall. The grips on the sides make the phone feel much more secure in my hand.
Thank you for your support. It is good to see people like this TPU Fusion design.

Skinomi TechSkin Carbon fiber skin protector

The battery cover seems to be a potential weakspot on the phoen from reviews ive seen. Although that opinion has been mixed.
I saw these though andthought id share. I dont like using cases on my phones so thought some people might enjoy this also.
I bought a sleeve but I am also thinking about one of these just to sturdy up the battery cover. It comes with a front screen protector too!
anyone dealt with these before? ive only seem limited reviews. any input appreciated.

Is real carbon fibre?
Sent from my HTC HD2 on ICS 4.0.4 using XDA
Not real for that price, if it is then that's a great deal.
real carbon fiber would be too rigid.
it does seem to be more rigid than a sticker, though.
the application video suggests using a hair dryer to apply it to corners and palces where the material must bend.
Id only put it on the battery cover, not anyhwere else. The contrast of my marble front, the silver on the sides and the black on the back will look cool i think.
heres a link to an example. This user used 3M stuff though.

I've done this with MANY devices, even used white carbon on my girlfriend's Captivate, and recommend using 3M Di-Noc over ANY of those gimmicky skins.... Even though the Di-Noc is much harder to go around complex curves, it holds up better than the 3M 1080 version, which is thinner and therefore more flexible, but also includes a glossier finish with a smaller carbon fiber weave.... 1080 trumps Skinomi, et al., so buy in bulk from eBay or wherever, and you'll get much more use out of it than just getting one skin that looks terrible and doesn't compare to real carbon fiber at all!
My 2 cents as someone who's been in the vinyl graphics industry for 10 years.....
^^ To each their own
I have a few products that have Skinomi's Carbon Series on them & they look great, corners suck a little but that was known.
Quick & painless
I went to autozone today to look for some of the stuff you suggested or similiar but they didnt have any.
i appreciate the advice but these skins already come cut to fit and with the holes in it. I went ahead and ordered one. They have free shipping and and the carbon fiber skin comes with a front glass cover. I wanted one anyway so its kinda two birds with one stone.
Ill post up impressions but itll be in july when verizon finally ships. I have a pile of phone accessories already for a phoen i dont even have yet lol
edit: Forgot to add - if you use the discount code "skinomi25" you get 25% off.
I ordered the carbon fiber package and it came to 14.98 with free shipping to US and canada
carbon fiber skins are totally worth it but the screen protector sucks cuz it has the rubbery feeling. To each their own though.

yeah ive never used a screen protector on any of my phones. I probably wont use this one either but it saves a few bucks if i decide to.
can you post some pictures of your skins on your devices???
but it looks nice though. Ahh there are already so many things that I wanna buy before my device comes !
I got my order in the other day just posting smoe initial intial thoughts (no SGS3 yet, damn vzw)
anyways the skin came attached to a adhesive backing that has 3M logo on it. So perhaps its the same material about psoted above. any way to tell?
it came with a wet application screen protector and all the goods to apply it.
it looks liek the right cut. im excited to try itout when my device is finally delivered.

Ghost Armor - Review

I like many people am looking for the best way to protect my phone and keep the sleekness of this device prevalent. After buying my Galaxy S III, I started my research right away. Unfortunately I work as a Carpenter and Installer and couldn't afford to keep my phone naked at work, so as I was looking for a case at my local mall I had seen the Ghost Armor kiosk and decided to give it a whirl.
Review!
To start I have had the device for a week now, and the shield just as long. As I stated above I work Construction, and my phone is one of my most invaluable tools while I'm out at a customers house, running errands, or just in the shop. I had the Galaxy S II (Sprint) and it went through hell, from dents in the sides to scratches on the screen to being dropped from the seat of our work van, it took quite a bit of abuse, I didn't want my S III to endure the same beatings my S II took. (Just a note, its now in my girlfriends care, safe and secure in her everlasting grip.)
Pro's
Covers screen and backing well.
Price isn't bad, $35 for my total.
Screen stays less oily and less streaky.
Does its job and prevents the screen from getting scratched.
Cons
Does not cover entire body.
The skin placement is only as good as the installers skills.
The carbonfiber backing option creates edges.
Exposed areas. (where some skins cover.)
While this product does do its job and did to it well it does leave a lot to be desired, I have seen skins out on the market that cover the entirety of the phone, and you would think getting it from a bigger name they would have a more complete skin for the product. It did do its job however, but then again for about $30.00 USD I could get an Otter-Box that would do the same and much more. I have attached pictures for anyone interested in how it looks.
In short I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone looking for full protection, as a screen protector its nice, but it doesn't offer as much as other wraps that I have seen online.
Would've looked better in black imo. But thanks for sharing.
Ghost Armor is kind of overpriced. I had it on my one S and will never buy again.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I've used Ghost Armor screen protectors on my last three phones - Inspire, Skyrocket, and now S3. I like the screen protectors because they still feel pretty slick (probably not quite as much as the actual glass, but they don't tend to "catch" your fingers) and they don't seem to change the screen's appearance (at least not that I can tell).
However, I have never put a skin on any of my phones (I've only used cases), so I cannot personally comment on the quality of those.

Quite a few people have said that, but I like the white and have no regrets on getting it in white. At least me sharing the pictures will help others decide if they like the pebble blue with a white carbon-fiber backing. To each their own.

I DIG the white on the blue! got me thinking about it. just have to think about which color I would get with my white phone.
price is $35?
wow... it's pricey
You will regret the white. Had it installed on my wife's phone and it picks up dirt like you wouldn't believe.... looks horrible after that.....
Hey Just want to let everyone know if you like this look and don't wanna cut your own.I searched all last night and found a company that doesn't have those seems on the corner I even emailed them to make sure here it is http://www.xgearlive.com/products/android/samsung/exoskin-s-iii
I just ordered one
thanks for the review.
You forgot to mention the lifetime warranty. Don't like the colour? Pay the 5 bucks labour and have them change the colour. I got the green but it wasn't bending over the edges well. Went back and they swapped the back with carbonfibre gunmetal grey. Looks great, left the green sides on just so I can easily find it on my desk/bed/wherever. Love this. I didn't find it pricey at all when I compared it to the invisashield and others that get all scratched up and faded. If this happens to this, you just pay 5 bucks and they'll slap a new one one. I also agree that the screen protector is far less grippy than the invisashield so it's more enjoyable to use.
I'm going to get my nexus 7 done next I think.
I like the fact that their Kiosks are popping up all over the place. They have 2 in the same mall local to me. I paid 20 bux for the front screen protector installed. I have them install it for me and they do a great job. IF they don't have one for your phone, which is the case with Galaxy S II and III since they sell out of them often, they can be talked into cutting one out custom for it.

Video Review: Aluminum Bumper Case Review

Hey fellas,
Got my hands on affordable (but well made!) aluminum bumper style case for the Galaxy S3. This particular model came from Tmart but you can find similar ones on eBay, in all sorts of colors. It's a two piece case that fits nice and snug around your S3. It WILL bubble up some screenshields, which is unfortunate. All the ports and the cutouts are spot on, which is impressive for such an affordably priced case. Overall, while it doesn't offer a lot of protection, if you're looking for a bumper case - this is a good option!

Why keep throwing that word "affordable" out and not say what you paid for it? I have this very case since August ordering it straight from the manufacturer. I could find no dealer in the US. Plus, there were many knockoffs, especially on Ebay. Don't get me wrong, I love my TrioBump, I'm just annoyed at how so many post while leaving out details!
EDIT: Well, I watched the video and must apologize and complain even more! I should have watched it first (my bad) but I'd rather read the pertinent details in the post than watch a vid. I do not agree with your assessments. I think this case gives protection where it is needed most. I don't use any of those new fangled screen protectors that supposedly protect the display from impact damage. I think that's going to far. I do employ the Invisishield on front and back. It give a very snug fit with no bubbling. That said, I'm confident that I will not get any damage if my phone take a hit anywhere this bumper covers. My only concern would be having it hit a rock directly to the screen and in that case, I have insurance. I like the minimalist form factor plus the ease with which it can be taken on/off to change batteries. Plus, I can use it with my FlyGrip which is why I searched for just such a minimalist case. You slip in your two fingers and can use the phone with one hand without worrying about dropping. Plus, as you can see, it doubles as a stand. What has me newly annoyed is the price you quoted. I paid about 4o bucks from the manufacturer, Gimmick Five. I don't see how it could be sold for just 10 dollars.
EDIT: Just checked Gimmick Five's website, and they are still listed at 39.99 US. I'd like to know the story behind Tmart's TrioBumps.
