[ROM][FL04][JB][Dedoxed] Kobridge's Tweaked Stock ROM + Addons + 4 tweak modes - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

What is this?
This ROM is completely FL04 JB stock ROM with rooted, busybox added with my latest Kobridge Tweak v4.0SF.
How to Flash?
Before flashing this ROM, be sure that you have a nandroid backup available or make a new nandroid backup. Flash this ROM at your own risk, I'm not responsible for any damages on your phone!
The steps are same as other ROMs. You'll need a CWM recovery kernel to flash this ROM and after flashing this ROM, you will lose the CWM recovery kernel because this ROM replace the CWM recovery kernel with stock FL04 kernel.
You will also need to flash the FL04 modem zip file (separate link provided) while flashing this ROM because it's known that ICS modem does not work on JB ROM.
No Data Wipe - if you want to keep your current manually installed non-stock apps, do not wipe the data partition. You would be able to use your old configuration in most cases. I used this option to upgrade my rom from FI25 to FL04. No issues found.
Data Wipe/Factory reset - it's also ok doing factory reset or wiping data partition using CWM recovery tool before flashing this ROM if you want to do a clean install. There's no reboot or force closing issue.

Kobridge's Stock Bloatware Remover for Jelly Bean
Some useful info on JB ROM:
Some widgets are not working on JB depending on the launcher.
Samsung Task manager is not showing from app list. To launcher the app, you can use the widget or long pressed 'home' button to run the Samsung task manager.
Old sqlite3 binary does not work on JB. I had to change the sqlite3 binary in this rom to make the wifi sleep timer working.
It appears that external_SD under /SDCARD is no longer pointing to external SD card. Now it's under /mnt/extSdCard, /storage/extSdCard - I need to look at some scripts running during the boot.
System partition is too small to hold all apps. It seems like that's the reason why Samsung added /preload partition and moved some of non-core apps there. I tried to keep all apps into /system partition and phone didn't boot.
snapshot key - vol down + power do not work any more. To get the snapshot, press the home key + power button together
New way to recover the phone using Nandroid & stock ROM:
Because Jelly Bean is using another partition which is not covered by our traditional CWM recovery. Whenever you restore your phone using nandroid backup oly, you may not get the full restore of your phone. It's because the /preload changes are not included. So, there is no way to backup this folder by cwm recovery.
So, what I'm suggesting method is
1. Be sure that you have a nandroid backup after JB rom flashed. Be sure that you have the flashable JB rom.
2. now to start the nandaroid recovery, reboot into cwm.
3. (full wipe data & cache) or do the factory reset
4. flash JB rom
5. (do not reboot after flashing the ROM) recover nandroid backup on the same recovery session
6. Flash Kobridge's Bloatware remover tool if you did that before
7. flash the JB kernel again (if your CWM kernel during nandroid backup was ICS or lower, then phone won't boot without this step)
8. reboot
Some other Kobridge's Tweaked ROM info:
When many apk files are updated or if you flashed new Kobridge's stock ROM, remove /data/local/zipalignedapk file and reboot. It will try to re-zipalign all apks from /preload /system/app /data/app.
Removed apks are placed in /storage/extSdCard/Removed_Apps/ (from system/app) and /storage/extSdCard/Removed_Apps/preload (from preload/symlink/system/app). /storage/extSdCard folder is a symbolic link of /mnt/extSdCard.
To move the removed apps back to original folder, you have to copy(move) the apk files from Removed_Apps folders to /system/app folder and change the permision to 644 and reboot. You cannot move the apk files back to /preload folder because the symbolic link is not there. To move it to preload folder, you have to manually create the symlink for the move files.
If you do not want to use Kobridge Tweak, remove the init.d folder and /system/bin/dvfs.sh file. For build.prop, copy it from original stock rom and place it to /system folder.
To check the tweak result, find /data/log/kobridge_tweakxx.log files (total 4 files created)
Again, I do not use 'data wipe'. From ICS to JB, everything moved ok and working fine for me.
On the same CWM recovery session, you can flash the ROM, Modem, and bloatware remover script also. But be sure that you need to wait enough time until system reboot and settle. After flashing the ROM, you may need to wait about upto 5 minutes. If you removed alignedapk file and doing the re-zipalign, then it would also take 3-5 minutes.
Kobridge's Stock Bloatware Remover for Jelly Bean (Samsung FK23 ROM)
How to flash - just like flashing the rom, flash zip file from CWM recovery.
You can flash this zip file just after flashing the rom or you can flash this zip file separately depending on your need. Be sure that after you flash this zip file, you may need to flash the original Kernel also at the same CWM session without rebooting your phone.
Where you can find the removed apps
You can find the removed apps from /mnt/extSdCard/Removed_Apps (system apps) and /mnt/extSdCard/Removed_Apps/preload (preload apps). To bring it back to your phone, move the apk files to /system/app or /preload/symlink/system/app folder and reboot.

You're right but no worries about that because FK23 gave me some experience about the JB ROM.:good:

Can't wait to try it out.

Uploading completed. It took several hours....
For now, to flash the modem or stock FK23 kernel, please use rwilco12's repository.
For the CWM, I used Agat's FF18 CWM kernel. Again, be sure that you have a nandroid backup available before flashing this rom.

Flashed it last night and stayed up an hour just to play with things. Definitely a smooth ROM. I haven't come across many bugs or anything, will be keeping as my daily for now. Thanks Kobridge!

Thank for the work kobridge! Do you know if the stock hotspot is working in this one; it worked for me on the stock FK23 (I think Sprint let it slip out that way)? Eitherway I'll spin this when I get home.
As always I'm sure it's quick and smooth.
Thanks again.

It works for me on FK23 without additional hotspot hack. For the last several releases, I did not applied the Sprint Hotspot on my rom but it's working fine for me if I do not wipe the data - This does not mean that you can get the hotspot without applying hotspot hack. By some reason, mine started working continuously since I applied hotspot hack from my several ROM versions before. After that, I never applied hotspot hack but it still works fine.
By the way, I'm uploading JB bloatware remover now. The link will show up shortly in my second post.

will you be adding multiwindow? pretty please!! kidding
but you know
what additions are you planning?
can I flash over my stock odexed rom (also fk23) or a full and utter complete wipe would be needed?

Tweaks?
To be honest I am not very familiar with your work But am in the process of downloading. I am curious as to what your tweaks are? I am for sure a noob by all means but understand the basics like flashing and mobile odin.... I have been one of the brilliant ones to hard brick my last E4GT and must say learned my lesson not to take short cuts. I am so grateful to you and all the other devs who have continued to provide us with these great roms and tweaks.:cyclops:
Also do you know if Tdunhams add-ons are working on this?

[ROM] [FROYO] (previously) Voodoo Doctor Edition v2.1|Universal Lagfix|CWM recovery

This ROM will soon be merged with Doc's ROM
Based on DocRambone's experimental JPA rom/DocRambone's JP6 ROM and sztupy's Universal Lagfix Kernel.
This ROM is just a compilation of various things on the forum itself
Features:
- Based on JP6/JPA (Doc's rom) (theme removed, and Facebook/Twitter sync added)
- Zipaligned
- Deodexed
- Pre-rooted
- Superlight (no touchwiz)
- Clockworkmod Recovery
- BLN support (enable via CWM)
- Voodoo enabled (ext4/jfs)
- Startup script tweaks
- Unthemed
- Modular: YOU choose what you want on your ROM
In case of doubts, please check FAQ first
Latest Version: v2.1
Changelog in post #2
Pre-Requisites:
1. Disable Voodoo if have it installed (create a folder named “disable lagfix” inside the “Voodoo” folder on your internal sdcard and reboot).
2. Make sure have the 2e recovery. If you don't have 2e recovery, see FAQ).
3. Make sure you have a backup of your /efs (not mandatory, but highly recommended).
4. This ROM will delete all your apps and data (not the stuff on the internal sdcard). So make sure you have proper backups (I recommend Titanium Backup)
Installation Steps:
1. Download the packaged ROM (check below) and put it on your internal sdcard.
2. Download clockworkmod recovery from here. You need Clockworkmod, this won’t work with stock recovery.
3. Rename the clockworkmod recovery file to “update.zip” and put it on your internal sdcard.
4. If you had Voodoo installed prior to installing this ROM (eclair or froyo), make sure you still have the "disable lagfix" folder inside "/sdcard/Voodoo".
5. Shutdown phone, wait for it to power down, then boot the phone into recovery mode (press volume up, keep it pressed, then press home button, keep it pressed, then press power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it).
6. Select “apply sdcard:update.zip” (use volume rocker to move up and down, and home button to select). Clockworkmod recovery will boot now (you may have to do apply update.zip twice for Clockworkmod to show up).
7. Once in Clockworkmod, select “install zip from sdcard” (use volume rocker to move up and down and the back button to select).
8. Select “choose zip from sdcard” and then select the ROM zip package. Choose yes then.
9. The update will start (will take some 5 minutes) and during the flashing you will see some strange big characters on the screen, don’t worry, that’s normal. After the process finishes, you will be dropped back into Clockworkmod recovery. From there, choose go back, and then reboot phone.
11. The first boot will take some time as the ROM will deodex
12. After the phone boots up, shutdown phone again, and then boot into recovery. The phone will boot DIRECTLY into Clockworkmod. From there, select a "advanced ULK features", then "Lagfix options". You can select any of the lagfix schemes (description here). I recommend NO-RFS advanced JFS or EXT4.
13. You can also enable some startup tweaks from the "Tweak options" menu.
Things to note:
1. You will see a small screen corruption when booting the phone. This is a known issue.
The ROMs
v2.0 (JPA Superslim) + 2.0 to 2.1 Patch (apply patch from CWM)
v2.1 (JP6 Full)
Extra Goodies!
JPA
1. Stock Lockscreen (Will take a LONG time to boot after applying this.. Be patient! )
2. Circle Battery Mod vD
JP6
1. Stock Lockscreen (Will take a LONG time to boot after applying this.. Be patient! )
2. Circle Battery Mod vD
3. Disable increasing ring
4. Elegant Steel Theme (Screenshot, thanks scheichuwe)
5. ANDRODeNa GaLaSSiA Theme Apparently not working with this ROM
Shout out to: DocRambone (for the awesome deodexed and zipaligned base rom), supercurio (for his voodoo magic), sztupy (for his exceptional lagfix kernel)
Changelog:
Version 1.0: Initial internal version
Version 1.1: Updated Voodoo to pre4
Version 1.2: Added 2e recovery
Version 1.3: Added SuperSLIM version, and updated Voodoo to pre6, renamed to "Voodoo Doctor Edition" in recognition of DocRambone and Voodoo by supercurio
Version 2.0: Changed base ROM to Doc's experimental JPA. Now supports direct CWM boot and various lagfix options!
Version 2.1: Updated Universal Lagfix Kernel to v0.3, added JP6 full on popular demand.
Todo:
- Disable increasing ring
- Add update.zip for I9000M modem with a FAQ entry
FAQ
1. I don't have 2e recovery, how should I install this ROM?: Disable Voodoo (if you have it), then install the corresponding CFRoot kernel to get 2e recovery, then flash this ROM as usual
2. I flashed this ROM, but I see no increase in responsiveness: Open Autokiller and set preset to "Strict".
3. I am on XXXXXXX ROM/Firmware. Can I flash this ROM?: Yes you can, as long as you have 2e recovery. If you don't, check FAQ point 1.
4. What ROM do I need to be on to flash this ROM?: This is a complete ROM, does not need a base ROM. You can flash on any firmware!
5. I am getting force closes with Maps/Voice Search: Update the apps from the market (they require manual update).
6. I'm getting error while installation (line 79/80): Reboot to stock recovery, clear data/cache, then try again. This happens very rarely, and I'm not able to pin point why (sorry for the trouble )
2e!! FTW
Well done kalpik - it was such a pain to go through hell to just flash an update.zip - thanks
In the title it says 2e recovery (CWM compat) does that mean that if I use your rom I have voodoo and CWM ? in eclair releases , which had 2e recovery, cwm wasn't compatible with voodoo .. To get cwm working you had to disable lagfix ..is that still the case?
How did you integrate 2e with voodoo, can it be done on my current rom by replacing files or is the proces much more difficult ?

No. It is just like eclair releases. CWM still cannot backup while Voodoo is enabled. You can replace some files to get 2e working on your own rom. Follow steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813475
thanks for your quick answers . You are doing a great job here on the forums !

could you do the same thing, but based on DocRambone's Superslim JP6
AWESOME haven't tried it yet ( due to the fact that I don't have internet at home until tomorrow and EDGE is pretty slow ) but this Rom is nearly everything I have right now on my Phone.
- Docs Custom Rom is one of the best
- The new Voodoo Lagfix works so smooth
- 2e Recovery was missing but it would be great if this works
- And JP6 is by far the best Froyo right now
I have only one question and maybe two wish.
??? Does "V1 Theme for JP6 with stock android lockscreen" works with this Rom or is it already Themed ???
1. Please do a Superslim Version of this ROM because most of us hate all that Samsung stuff. Of course we can delete it but it would be the best Rom right now
2. I don't know why everybody links the round Battery Icon. I think it is too big compare to the other normal Icons and it looks everytime like the top, and bottom, part touches the end of the Notificationbar ( the Icon pic looks too high for me ). I would recommend Version 2 of rom-g's mods. But anyway I can flash it afterwards with it, like I did last time with Doc's RomMod JP6 Superslim.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=895
Anyway, both of you done a great job.

can you remove battery mod?
anybody can install [APP] SGS Battery Icon Mod and choose battery they need...
I came from eclair ddjg4... followed the steps one by one... but somehow i'm getting Force close with maps... is it just me or someone else has this problem too??
Same question here: Does "V1 Theme for JP6 with stock android lockscreen" from DocRambone's thread works with this Rom or is it already Themed ?
I'm having trouble at the first hurdle... it freezes when trying to flash the CWM recovery.
From the instructions it looks as though Voodoo should be enabled while flashing CWM, is this correct? Should I disable Voodoo before flashing, then re-enable once both CWM and the ROM are installed?

This is an unthemed ROM, you can apply the theme Doc made on it. I had bundled the Circle battery mod cause earler Voodoo did not have 2e recovery and it was not easy to apply the Battery Mod. Now that 2e is bundled, Ill remove the Batter Mod

What firmware are you on? And btw, I took a LOT of pain making such detailed instructions, if you follow them to the word, I think you will not face any problems
I'm on the stock 2.1 (I9000XXJF3) that came with the phone - you're my first rom-flash!
The recovery is 2e.
I really did follow your instructions to the letter! I'm going to re-download the CWM file incase it got corrupted en-route.
Edit: Something that I should probably mention, when loading the standard recovery, prior to doing anything it shows the following message in red:
multicsc : can not acces to /system/csc/ORA/system/

[ACS][Base Rom]Stock Rooted Odex & Deodex[Updated 10/15/11][Closer to Real Stock]

Welcome!
Hello, these roms were made in order for people to have recovery-flashable zips of stock roms (not having to rely on tars and Odin). These roms are compiled from Odex and Deodex system dumps and have no other mods besides root, busybox and recovery.
***Disclaimer***
I am not responsible for any damage, be it mental, physical, mechanical, etc caused by the flashing of this rom. If you flash it, you do so at your own risk. Glad we could get that out of the way
If any developers want to use these as a base rom, there is no need to ask. Just grab em and go. I made these for themers and other rom developers who don't usually work at making the rom itself, but taking what's there and making it better. I hope it helps out!
First the shout outs:
CNZ (RoadRAGEN) - Updater Script, Odex & Deodex Dump
ptfdmedic - Deodex System Dump
bubby323 and chris41g - for use of kernels and general help.

Kernel Build: bubby323's stock with cwm 5
Rooted with SU v3.0 with fully updated binaries(thanks to cnz(RoadRAGEN))
busbox latest version(thanks to cnz(RoadRAGEN)
ClockworkMod Reocvery version v5.x (thanks to bubby323's kernel)
No-CIQ mod (one of the deodex roms only)(thanks to k0nane)
All stock apps/widgets included (I have removed nothing that came stock)
Pick Which SD Card You Want Recovery to Read
For now, the recovery on the kernels in these roms tells CWM to read from the internal memory card. If you want it to read from the external memory card go here and download the "Latest Compiled Version". Flash in Odin and CWM will work with the external sd card. These roms run the link under "Older releases".
Installation Instructions
For those who just wanna use it as their daily drivers, here's the installation instructions:
ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BEFORE YOU FLASH ANYTHING!!!!! <-----Words to flash by.
1. Download rom, put it on your phone.
2. Boot into recovery.
3. FULL WIPE IS REQUIRED. Data AND cache AND dalvik.
3.5 Go back and make sure step 3 has been completed
4. Flash rom.
5. reboot and enjoy
**Warning**
The flash process and first boot takes a minute. Be patient, it will work!
Known Issues
Okay, for whatever reason, the deodex w/NoCIQ just will not install the MyFiles.apk. This doesn't sound significant. However, without it, the contacts app will Force Close when you attempt to assign a custom ringtone to a contact. There are two workarounds:
1. Get a different file manager, navigate to the sound and manually assign it to a contact.
2. Find the apk (it's in every flashable rom) and install it onto your phone manually.
I will attempt to fix it once an update comes out and I'm forced to play with these roms again. Until then, the workaround works just as well. (thanks lballer59 for finding the problem).

How to flash if I am not rooted stock?
Hi can you provide a just a few more steps for people like me who are still on stock non rooted rom? I know it says save it on and then flash.
Welcome to the party!

Thank you for you hard work And i totaly agree with what you said in your OP.
And the only prob i see is you are using buddy'2 kernel + cmw. From what i understand, and PLEASE correct me if im wrong, THat kenel is still a hack of source and initrams from int sg2. The jury still seems 2b out on wether or not there r issuse with that.
Im still currently looking for totaly stock kernel +root+cmw. IF i new how to make, I would.
again correct me if im wrong and thank you.

From my understanding the kernel is built from stock source not the sgs2. However, the cwm is built using the sgs2 binaries to save time. I know a new version is being worked on. I have been using Bubby's stock cwm for about a week and it is working great. Using a jig removed the exclamation mark and the i9100 screen so I am happy where I am. But I am looking forward to a new release that is completely stock with hopefully nothing but boot animation support and init.d. I hate having root and busybox built into the kernel. Just a personal issue.

Great work absolutezerogi!
CWM first?
Do I need to flash CWM first for this to work? In that case which CWM should I use? I see two versions available.
Thanks.

Yes. I use Bubby's.
Looking for something Stable... Hope I find it here ( ACS are normally stable ) giving it a shot now! Thanks
So far, this seems to be the closest we can get, without actually getting there.
I have tried Zedomax, and had a few LOS', no big deal, but I went back to stock.
If I go back to Zedomax (CWM, SuperUser, Root), can I flash this in CWM and have a completely stock rom with CWM, SuperUser, and Root WITH the stock kernel?
Thanks in advance.

Got your developers backwards lol. Zedomax's first kernel was from source and initramfs from the SGSII international. I pulled the initframfs myself for bubby's kernel, it's stock I promise

Hi there!
First you must be rooted. If you're not you need to go to one of our root methods and get rooted and get recovery. Then you just flash these in recovery However, I will make the instructions a little more detailed for ya.
Hi guys!
UPDATE: Now includes busybox.
Enjoy!!
Off topic, but do you suppose cm7 will be compiled using this kernel?

This is stock rom with TouchWiz and Bubby's completely stock rooted kernel. CM is made fro AOSP (Android Open Source Project) source and then ported to a phone. So, CM won't be using this at all lol.
crap!
UPDATE 2 - back in business. needed to flash stock kernel/rom then let it encrypt, then tell it to decrypt, then re-root, re-flash, back to normal again.
I have a problem, I really hope someone can help.
I followed the directions here, and everything worked great.
i was rocking the rom for about a day and then I noticed in settings that I had an option to "encrypt the phone" so stupidly (and obvoiusly not thinking) i did it and was thrown into a boot loop.
I tried rebooting, and nothing.
I tried booting to recovery, and wiping all, and then reflashing this rom. - nothing
I tried doing the volume down and power, then the volume up thing, and then I reapplied the zImage using heimdall and nothing.
Currently - all I can get to is recovery, I can't mount the the phone (nothing shows up on the computer, maybe because it is encrypted?) So I can't even copy something to the phone to try to flash it
Any ideas? - really deperate here, I can't believe I pulled such a newbie move.
Downloading this as soon as I can. Thanks for your hard work!

I'm also going to PM with these instructions so I can be sure they get to you faster.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282420
download the stock tarball made by crawrj
boot into download mode (volume down + power)
Odin that tar. It'll return you to pure stock (unrooted, stock everything). You should be able to boot then. Do a factory reset once you do (to wipe everything), then you should have a functioning phone to re-root and do whatcha want. Let me know if that works.
Thank you so much OP. I flashed to v4 of Zedomax, then I flashed your ROM in CWM, and now I have everything. CWM, SuperUser, and all of my root apps are working on a deodexed ROM!!!
Thanks again.

[UPDATE][ROM] tFD02_ v0.1.1 Rooted. Deodexed. Themed. Tweaked.

Credits:
Calkulin for his stock rooted deodexed rom.
Calkulin for repacked stock kernel that allows to flash zip files in recovery
Thank Tiffany84 for initial ICS theme she made for us.
Rom:
I present tFD02 rom.
1. Touch of ICS theme by Tiffany84
2. Changed touch sound to GNex. (thanks Ben's for help and research)
3. Changed settings background to GNex scaled grey (thanks Ben's for help and research)
4. Removed boot sound
5. Added enhanced Camera.apk (thanks to Calkulin, KCRic and little bit to me)
6. Removed all system camera sounds. Camera is completely silent photo and video
7. International SGS II Boot animation.
8. Added build.prop tweaks for camera quality, battery life, overall responcivness, faster dial out, less black screen after phone call, deeper sleep, wifi scan interval. I think some more but can't recall all.
9.Build.prop tweak for smoother scrolling thanks to custodian. It feels like odexed rom now.
10. I know did something else. If you figure it out let me know I'll add to OP.
11. Added app to switch between MTP and USB storage.
12. CRT animation zip file will be uploaded shortly. Just check Misc. Stuff in my signature.
v0.1.1
Look didn't change.
All changes are in tweaks.
My thanks to jt-hatch and JSnively for testing it for me and running full day.
You should thank them too.
1. Added VM managment.
2. Internet speed
3. Battery tweaks in buid.prop and in init.d
4. Undervolt -50 mv (thanks to Calkulin and his script)
5. Kernel tweaks in init.d (hope it works as planned).
6. Low memory.
7. Smooth scrolling.
8. Added Team Rogue repacked kernel with CWM recovery. Our big thanks to Team Rogue for their continued great work.
Pretty much it should look same as v0.1.0 but little bit better, faster, smoother and with better battery life. I would suggest to install this rom with battery fully charged to get most out of it.
Full wipe is strongly suggested. Just do a nand back up and after flashing the rom to data restore under advanced restore options. This apply only if you coming from another ICS build.
If you flash this over GB do a full wipe (Calkulin's format all is the best way) and do NOT restore data. Download all your apps from play store again.
If you have any questions just ask. I'll try to answer if I can.
Download links are at the bottom of this page.
Installation instructions:
1. Download rom zip file.
2. Download modem zip file (optional)
3. Copy files to root of your sd card
4. Boot into recovery.
5. Do a NAND back up (optional but strongly recomended).
6. If you still running any GB build flash/apply Calkulin's format all zip. This step can be skipped if you running ICS builds. I have tried flashing this rom over FC24 ICS rom and had no problems.
7. Apply rom zip in recovery.
8. Apply modem zip in recovery.
9. Boot to system.

I'm using ODIN only to revert back to GB.
Flashing ICS over ICS is pretty safe.
Don't use recovery if you come from AOSP/AOKP/CM.
Does anyone have an idea of what was changed between the this and the last leak. Just curious if someone knew or had an idea.
Im on FC24 so ill go ahead and flash. I take it the bricks usually happen when flashing gb over ics or vice versa?
ill give a spin as well
Downloading -- already made a fresh nandroid so ready to flash as soon as it's done
Thanks, agat!

It's safe to flash an ICS Rom from GB CWM after a full wipe/ factory reset, but don't do it the other way around. Bricks have occurred when doing a manual full wipe with an ICS recovery but I haven't heard of any problems wiping with Calkulin's format all zip. I wouldn't restore nandroid backups back and forth either.

I'm now running on tFD02 and so far everything works fine.
So I'm running AOSPICSmod 4.0.3... to flash this, is it safe to flash the EL26 CWM kernel using mobile odin, then go into recovery and flash the tFD02 according to instructions?
Or should I just flash a kernel with Rogue recovery and flash tFD02 right over this?

[GUIDE] Official Update [UCLJ3] ATT Update with Root!

***MOVING ICEPOP ROM TO SEPARATE THREAD***Here is a good guide to updating your Captivate Glide to the OFFICIAL UCLJ3 update which includes all the fixes that were borked in the Leaked ICS release!
First off I'd like to send credit where credit is due...
Dman3285 (cm10)
Thegreatergood (literom & kernel)
Aquethys (cwmr 6)
Kombatant (ICS tethering fix)
ItsMeBdon (root)
if I missed someone please let me know!
I quickly threw this together as a step by step guide to update your captivate glide with the oficial ICS released in October '2012
I'm new to modding and developing with android code. any help, suggestions and advice is always welcome.
Disclaimer: no member here in XDA developers will be responsible for a bricked device. I have tested this guide myself and has proved to work well. please proceed with caution. Read through the guide before hand!
I will soon jaz up this thread and with permission from the devs that provided the files, post them for downloading here!
Official ICS from ATT Guide
this process is done using a pc running windows os.
neededdin 3.07
Cwmr 6.0
Official ics update
EFS Pro 1.12.6
Samsung usb drivers
7zip
Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip
1.use cwmr to make a backup of your current android system.
2.use efs pro to make a backup of your efs folder. make sure you keep it in a save place like on your pc
3.copy your "clockworkmod" folder from your internal phone memory to your pc. that is your cwmr system backup
if your currently running Dman's cm10, make sure cwmr 6.0 is installed.
there is an option under mounts and storage to mount usb mass storage. connect the usb cable and copy your files!
4.while your usb is connected, copy all your pictures, music and other important files you want to save.
after the update it all may be lost!
5.if you're like me and have apps installed that were not from the market, you might want to use a app backup utility
save them and copy them to your pc for later use!
6.open the official ics update zip and extract the files to your desktop using 7zip.
7.open odin3 (right click and run as administrator)
8.Reboot your glide in download mode by holding the volume up and power together,
be sure when prompted to continue pres the appropriate button.
9.You should now see "Added!" in the message box of odin. click the "PDA" button and select the md5 file you extracted.
10.make sure you UN-CHECK all the boxes except for the pda! THIS IS A MUST!!
11.click start. there will be test displayed in message box! wait till you get a green box showing Pass! and in the message box
display "All threads completed (succeed 1 / failed 0)"
12.remove the usb cable and reboot the phone. you now have the official ics update installed stock with no root.
if for some reason you phone gets stuck on the att splash screen, reboot into recovery and do a factory reset!
13.you will now need to re-flash cwmr 6 using the same method starting with step 8. selecting the recovery file in pda.
14.now to root, boot into cwmr and flash Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip. reboot and you should have root!

Or you could do it this way too haha
1. Cleared everything off my phone via CWMR to start completely fresh
(Follow the directions and download the files from here http://androidromupdate.com/2012/09/08/i927uclh2-ics-4-0-4-samsung-sgh-i927-captivate-glide-firmware-upgrade-official-kiesota-stock-rom/ --basically my instructions are the same as these. If you follow those instructions, continue to step 10 of my instructions to root your glide)
2. booted phone in download mode (up vol +pwr)
3. used Odin3 v3.07.exe to flash I927UCLH2_I927UCALH2_I927UCALH2_HOME.tar.md5
4. let the phone boot and activated my account and what not
5. went to settings>about phone, software update
6. and got the OTA AT&T push update to I927UCLJ
7. booted phone into download mode (pwr+vol up again)
8. used Odin3 v3.07.exe to flash CWRM through the recovery.tar.md5
9. restarted the phone
10. went into usb mass mode on the phone
11. put Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip into my external_sd folder (easiest folder for me to get to)
12. unplugged and turned off usb mass mode and turned off the phone and booted into CWRM (vol down+pwr) and flashed the superuser .zip file
13. rebooted phone
Now I have a rooted official ICS 4.0.4
14. I downloaded SuperSu and Root Explorer from the market and my sms+backup for my text messages to get restored
and everything is working smoothly!
next few goals....
1. include dman's EPM mod and Kombatant's tethering fix
2. remove bloat ware and include a different launcher
3. create a cwmr flashable rom!

Sounds amazing. Wish I could do you some good. But I don't know coding all that well other than CSS and a little HTML. No good for programming though. You should have the Navigation Bar, Apex Launcher, MagicLocker, SuperSu, and the bloatware removed all the while making it cwmr flashable. That would be amazing.
Hey does anyone know how to get the 14 toggles bar ? I had it in uclh2 with thegreatergoods build but can't find how to do it specific on our glide. I really miss those functions

Ya I saw that as I read more, I moved my comments into that thread... If we get the smooth sailing theme, 14toggle mod, gps, camera all on UCLJ3 we're going to have a rock solid ICS on our i927's.
I'm reading up on deodex and I'll try it out later this afternoon. I found this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600805
I would try deox...but I'd probably brick my phone -w-

I tried! It was able to flash but on re boot went to download mode! I'm using android kitchen .213. After building the zip and attempting to flash, I get a status 0 error!
Sent from my SGH-I927 using Tapatalk 2
I think there is a bug in the conversion from update-script to updater-script in the kitchen!
the only thing I have done to the rom so far is deodex, zipalign, root, install apex launcher and some other useful apps. also removed some useless bloat and a custom boot animation I think y'all might like
Ill post a link as soon as it uploads to google drive! it wont flash in cwmr 6 I get a status 0 error!
How did you get the rom to deodex? I installed it using xultimate but keep getting errors in Email, exchange, mobile print, phone, systemui and a couple of others...
after copying all the deodex files back on the phone and rebooting I have no phone, no email, and heaps of errors :|
I booted up an ubuntu VM and have installed android kitchen hoping it will work ...
All this just because I want to have 14toggles heh .. next twill be the gay animation menu but thats a simple fix.

I was able to deodex by using dsixda's Android Kitchen. running a ubuntu 12.04 system! as soon as I can figure out how to get it to flash properly I'll look into the toggles!
I am by no means an experienced dev! this is the first rom I have done and its just a modified stock at that! Google and xda search has been my best friend in learning!!
I am uploading the zip as we speak, my internet upload speed is slow! but it's getting there. Hope someone can find the trouble in the script!
here's a guide I found that I have been following to get started with my rom!

[FIX][JB]GPS Workaround for Jellybean

Revamped the entire OP to make it relevant for current roms.
Many users of the Epic 4g Touch have reported various GPS inconsistencies. While this seems to happen more frequently on AOSP-based ROMs (CyanogenMOD, PAC-man, Evervolv, AOKP, etc), it has been reported on TouchWiz-based ROMs as well. Below are a few tips and tricks to help fix your GPS.
FIRST: You will need the necessary tools to troubleshoot the problem.
Google Maps - The app we will use to determine if GPS works properly or not.
GPS Status (Optional) - Provides additional information about GPS performance. This shows how many satellites are in view, coordinates, heading, and other useful information as well. This can help to confirm wether you have a GPS problem or are just in an area without GPS reception.
SECOND: You will need the tools to fix the problem.
- Root-capable file browser (ES File Explorer is my personal preference)
- Mobile ODIN (Free version is available on XDA, but Pro is well worth it, as well as supporting Chainfire, one of the most respected devs in the Android community)
THIRD: You will need some files saved to your sd card. These will be flashed in recovery or Mobile ODIN.
- The EL26+CWM recovery kernel.
- Any Jellybean ROM you want to run.
***For TouchWiz ONLY* Agat's 0.3.0 GB27 Kernel with tREC custom recovery.
- A working GPS.conf (explained later)
- Goddly's ComaDose tweaks (not required if you use a standalone GPS.conf, but highly recommended. See his thread for details.)
FOURTH: You will need these files on your sdcard to temporarily return to stock if needed.
- The EL29 CWM5 Directboot Kernel
- The EL29 Tempboot ROM
METHODS:
I will post each method of fixing GPS, in order of time investment. Test GPS with Google Maps (and optionally GPS Status) after EACH METHOD. Please provide feedback on which method worked for you so that I may improve this guide further.
Method 1 - GPS Toggle
Try this first. It only takes about 10 clicks to do the whole thing, and it saves you from having to flash anything if it works.
1. Close Maps and any other location aware apps. Make sure to clear them from Recents to ensure that they are fully closed.
2. Go the your Location tab under Settings. Toggle GPS satellites off and on, then toggle Location as well (System Settings>Location Access>Access to my Location). This should result in a popup asking if apps can have your permission to use GPS.
Method 2 - New GPS.conf
All thanks to Goddly for allowing me to use his gps.conf.
Sometimes, the GPS.conf file on your phone can become corrupted or otherwise unusable. This will prevent you from locking on to any satellites, even though you may have one (or several) in view.
1. Make sure you have a working GPS.conf on your phone. This can be a standalone GPS.conf like the one attached to this post (extract the zip first!), or it can be one contained in a tweak package such as Goddly's ComaDose v1.4
2. Copy & paste the working gps.conf into /System/App using your root file browser.
3. Set permissions to the gps.conf to 0777 (rwxrwxrwx)
4. Reboot.
5. After booting, toggle Location (triggering the popup).
Method 3 - Lock on Stock
This is a tried-and-true method that was most frequently used in the early days of CM10. It is usually not needed anymore, but I am keeping it in just in case.
1. In Mobile ODIN, flash the EL29 CWM5 Directboot kernel.
2. Reboot, you should automatically wind up in recovery. If you do not go to recovery, pull the battery, wait 10-15 seconds, replace the battery, and hold vol+ and power.
3. Flash the EL29 Tempboot ROM (This will be in the Multiboot folder on your SD card, assuming you followed the instructions in the link above.)
4. You should automatically boot into stock EL29 Gingerbread.
(Optional) 4 1/2. Update Profile and PRL (if desired, you can't do this on AOSP so you might as well do it now)
5. Open Google Maps and get a GPS lock (you will likely need to be outside to get a good lock). Sometimes it helps to navigate to a random place.
6. ***WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A GPS LOCK***, power down the phone, then hold vol+ and power until you boot to recovery.
7. In recovery, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache.
8. Flash your ROM of choice.
9. Reboot.
Please reply to this thread with any questions/issues/feedback.
Thanks....will try it.

if you didnt get a good copy your multiboot wont work. Try downloading the file directly to your phone, and unzip it to the root of your internal with zarchiver.
Edit: apparently zarchiver can't extract to the root, or the system.IMG won't copy to the multiboot folder correctly. Try copying it again with your computer. Make sure it's on the root of your internal, not in /sdcard/ or on your external.
Failing that, nandroid your cm10, flash a tw-based gingerbread ROM with cwm5 recovery, get a GPS lock, reboot to recovery, flash cm10, reboot recovery, then restore your nandroid while on cwm6
Edit 2: what ROM are you on when trying to mount USB storage? It won't work on tw ICS or jb, and it might be disabled on aosp (Settings>storage > menu > USB computer connection > USB mass storage)
I was wanting to try this, but had a couple questions before I tried it:
Is the wipe of /data really necessary, or does it just help things run better?
Will this work on CWM6?
Also, with the PACman builds after 1/12, you don't have to flash Paranoid Preferences seperately.

1: Technically no, but a /data wipe is always recommended. If you have issues after this procedure, wiping /data is your first step to fixing them.
2: You start out on the cwm6 included in our AOSP kernel. You flash the el29 cwm5 directboot kernel with mobile odin, then flash the el29 multiboot (which requires the el29 kernel). When you are done with your prl updates/gps fix/dialer codes, you then reboot recovery and flash your AOSP 4.1 again, which puts you back on the AOSP kernel that includes cwm6.
Updated OP.
Does it matter that AOSP ROMS now use /sdcard instead of /emmc for the internal card? I tried the steps (without any clearing of cache or data, doh) and it just bootlooped. I was just wondering if that would be a factor?

Talking about the multi boot I assume? It goes in /sdcard/. This is the root of the phone's internal storage when mounted as USB mass storage via PC.
I don't even remember when AOSP last used /emmc/...July I think? Alpha CM9 I think. Before Chris41g started releasing like 5 test builds a day. At any rate, long before jellybean, which is what this guide is for.
And don't forget to wipe the things, or you will have problems.

/sdcard IS the internal storage. The actual SD card mounts to /external_sd. I realized this after 45 minutes of trying to make a multiboot folder in / unsuccessfully.

*facepalm* You are correct. My mistake.
I was thinking root of internal storage when phone is mounted via USB. I could never get the multiboot to extract entirely on the phone, it would just freeze for a while, then force close ES, then eventually reboot.
The correct path (when flashing) is /sdcard/multiboot/EL29/Boot_EL29.zip. So make sure your install matches this, or you will have problems.
Tried it again, this time via Mobile Odin instead of desktop Odin and it worked great! Updated my modem to FL24 and then updated PRL and profile. Thanks for the instructions and the help!
Hello, I have tried fixing my gps lock with this method three times. I even "one clicked" back to EL29 rooted for a fresh(er?) start. While in the EL29 temp boot, I can get either a 9/9 or 10/10 GPS lock( all three attempts), power down while in the lock (using google navigation), and follow the rest of the steps. Once I flash back to my CM10.1, or a clean install of 10.1, I start up GPS Status, and it tells me 0/2 sattelites locked. What is odd is that the two it tries to connect to changes every second or so to another random sattelite. So I see something like 21->03->18->12->30->14->22->32 etc. Any tips? Would flashing a new modem help? I originally had FL24 (i think) when I tried this method the first two times, and EL29 the third time (because Odin One Click reset it back to EL29).
EDIT: oh I realize this method works for 4.1.2, but would it also work for CM10.1, which is 4.2?

Re: [FIX][JB]GPS Workaround for AOSP-Based 4.1.2
I did OP fix with el29 with no success. (Used to work for me)
However..
After trying a few ROMs. I noticed I could update prl/profile in jellyverse v.4 (FL26) and get a lock. At this point curiosity struck so I Mobil Odin cwm el26, wiped data/cache/dalvik **skipped format all zip** and I flashed a JB aosp ROM and ICS modem. Long behold I can get GPS locks on my favorite ROM now.
So if el29 doesn't work for you (It did at one point for me but not anymore) try this method. It worked for me.

Never use a format all script with this fix. It will cause problems.
Better yet, never use a format all script ever, unless specifically directed by the OP.

sorrry for my late reply too, . The problem seems to be in the CM10.1 rom itself, because there are others in the thread (edit: the "wild for the night CM10.1 thread) that have the same situation as me. Actually the gps is locking correctly, with an error of 3 meters, its just GPS Status and other gps apps (like Ulysse) can not report correct lock information. Instead it shows spazzing attempts to lock to different sattelites. Hope this info works!
tl;dr: GPS locks even though apps dont report it locking in CM10.1
