I've been reading alot...and... well I'm not sure. I returned my Nexus 4, for various reasons. So I am looking at either the GNII (Note 2), or the GS3.
I am on AT&T btw.
I am mainly wanting a good CM-AOKP rom that will give me stock goodness with all the extra lovely settings. I'd rather not have anything experimental.
Someone told me this phone was just recently unlocked? If he was correct? So am I to assume there are no good daily driver roms?
Can people for god sake stop posting questions in random sections and post in Q&A section?

That's not an AT&T Galaxy Nexus. Its an unlocked i9250 GSM model. Works on AT&T, T-Mobile, or any GSM carrier in the US/World. Its the same (save for pre-installed Google Wallet) as the European model that's been sold for the last 5+ months.

Please just leave this thread and go join the other ones. You clearly have not read about the device, because it is the EXACT SAME as the other ones. It won't be a special phone that requires different ROMs or development. The phone has been on sale for over 5 months.

No, we're not trolls, we're just tired of people that are uninformed creating irrelevant, duplicate threads before searching or even reading the titles of the threads on the first page of the forum.
Obviously this phone has developer support, it's a Nexus. It doesn't matter what freaking SIM card you put in the back of it, its still the same device. GSM device support is GSM device support. Read. Please!

Per your suggestion I've looked through the last 5 pages and there's a couple that's semi similar to mine. The official announcement: which I could try to start a conversation there and it get lost in the general chatter about it, and another question like mine but about the battery. I could hijack his thread. That would be cool? Instead of trolling, which most of the replies have been, you could have said something like "I seen a post earlier that might help out". The replies have been absolute crap. If you're tired of seeing it ignore it.
I'm Never used an AOSP device, or an international device. Before I bought it I thought I would come over kick up a conversation with some people that have a GN and ask some questions. General stuff about development on it. Is there a difference between this one and the international version.
The way you people responded to someone that has never been in this specific device's forum, or messed with any variant of the device before is not right.

Thinking about buying it. Never used or paid much attention to AOSP devices because AT&T doesn't sell them. Are there any catches coming from Non-AOSP devices? I wasn't sure if there's any catches to using the international GSM roms with AT&T. Completely clueless here. I don't necessarily have time to read every post for 10 pages. Looking for a general overview of my questions.
You asked a really obvious question which is why people are responding to you the way they are. The question also doesn't make much sense since it is hard to believe that you this little about this phone. I think you are asking if the Galaxy Nexus works well with AT&T. The answer is yes. It also works well with any GSM network provider. There is good development for this phone, and nothing has to be or will be unique to AT&T.
There's no catches to using this phone with AT&T. Everything works great. Well actually, there are a few catches, I wouldn't get this phone if you were hoping to have:
1. Delayed software updates, or no updates at all
2. Terrible superimposed user interface that is more buggy
3. Lots of bloatware like AT&T Navigator just in case you wanted to pay AT&T for something Google gives for free and does a better job at.
If you are looking for any of those, then yeah, that's the only catch.
Why would I every look into a phone that I can't use? It has nice specs. I can't use it. Close. What's obvious to you isn't so obvious to someone else. Maybe it's all exactly the same as what I'm used to, or maybe there's some stuff you you "just know from experience" that I wouldn't know.

I know this is not a primary AT&T device so I know the support is going to be back burner. I just want to know how back burner it is.

Yes all GSM rooms currently in the GSM development section will work and all future ones too.

This is what I'm saying. You have a very very weak understanding of how this works. Do you really think that there are specific ROMs and tweaks for all of the dozens of carriers people are using this device on? Its an unlocked GSM device. There's no special software needed. You put in your SIM card.
Developers suppor the device. Not the network.

So, hopefully a simple answer to a (seemingly) simple question that I have not yet been able to find an answer for.
I am a Telus Mobile customer here in Canada. Some time ago, my HTC Amaze was stolen at a music festival, and upon my return home, I bought a NIB Galaxy S III (SGH-1747M) from a 3rd party retailer. Cash, no contract renewal, etc. Since I bought it 3rd party and NOT through a carrier dealer, my phone came (thankfully) without ANY of Telus's bloated carrier branding. Because it takes Telus so long to get, tweak, brand and release any software updates, it's often several months AFTER a release has come out before my carrier makes it available.
So, here I am, with my shiny, awesome Galaxy S III, and everywhere I look, there's a story about Jelly Bean, and how awesome it is. Naturally, I'd like it for my phone. But here's my question: (Two, actually) 1, if do an "over the air" update through my carrier by checking for online updates, will it update my phone with "branded" carrier software? And 2, Is it possible to just download and install a Jelly-Bean update to my phone directly from Samsung? I'm REALLY enjoying not having a bunch of crappy carrier infested bloatware on my phone, and would rather go with a clean ICS update than a bloated JB update.

Doubt it. Whatever you'll get from Samsung will be for the international, which will brick your phone. You'll have to get it from your carrier which will megabloat your phone. You may then proceed to debloat your phone, once you have obtained root. Rather than that, why don't you get one of the awesome jelly bean ROMs in the development section? Simplifies things a bit.

I agree with the above poster. Rooting and then flashing a custom ROM is undoubtedly the best way to experience unadulterated JB in my opinion.

Or when official JB is released, typically you'll see a debloated version within 12 - 24 hours here on XDA. Root IS the way to go. So many options.

I would need VERY, VERY detailed and specific instructions that could walk me through it. I have NEVER flashed a ROM, or a phone, or any of that. I haven't got a clue where to start, and with all the phones, variations, software, etc, etc, etc. Learning how, from scratch... Is a little daunting. But hey, if anyone here is kind enough to show me the way, I'd love to give it a shot.

Easiest place to start is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725839. It list all the different ways to root your phone and list all the custom roms out there in one forum. It has very clear walk throughs that are ment for noobs like me and elite alike. Good luck.

Check out the stickies in the android development section. You should find all the info you need there. It's a little overwhelming at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes simple

hey all, i know this is prob an annoying question but im looking for the best, least buggy rom for the sprint s3. im going to be rooting my phone within the next 20 minutes and i would love to hear whats the best rom out there for us.
SS odexed blue holy grail is a good one in my opinion. Its been running smooth for me and great battery life if you and in ktoonsez kernel in it. Try it out and see if that works for ya.

Depends on what you want. I prefer a stock touchwiz, but I love AOSP Cm 10 because it is mostly stable. If you like to customize though use AOKP.

Just look around. Some people find 4G unnecessary while others dont, so they consider no 4G a bug. This is very subjective and I highly doubt that anyone but you would be able to state a rom that matches your needs and usage. You could also look around, there have been at least 5 threads in the past week where people have asked this exact same thing.
They are all the best. This is why these threads are closed.
No one can tell you what is best for you. You have to try them and you have to read like everyone else did.

In one the hunt for an android 4.2.x ROM. But one that is completely different from everything out there.ive tried damn near every one availabilit.and I've grown just somewhat tired of the offerings. I know im sure im gonna hear it for this one. Whether it be from typos...posting in the wrong forum, or someone just wants to be a that day. But to me its well worth any good advice. MIUI and ParanoidAndroid are the two most "out there" ROM's that are different from the other AOSP ROM's.
OP TBH, I do not understand your posting....never the less, if you are tired of the development that is happening, Why not just go back to Stock.

Your own reading and research is your best answer. Opinions are just like watches; everyone has one, but they all say something different! haha I would suggest reading, then reading some more. A good place to start would be here in the XDA Forums. You should look in Android development and in Original Android development for the TMo Note 2. You might be interested just in some of the data there. You can see when the dev originally posted their rom and you can see how much response there is in the broader community.
So the answer to your question is already out there. It is in each and every rom as each developer rightly gave us a unique perspective. So go read, then read some more, and when you are through there, you might read a little. Best of luck to you!
