Home screen disappears - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The top half of my home screen disappears this morning without any known reason. That is the digital clock/date and whether on the top half screen. How can I restore it? Thanks!

Stock? Custom? Tweaks/mods?
Just like calling your dr and expecting him to fix you when all you say is "my finger hurts"....

New toAndroid? .....You mean.... No weather widget? .... long press home screen. .select widget. ..select weather widget
You can also select widgets to add to screen by going into your apps. ..there is a widgets tab on top. ..tap it to see the available widgets
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)

I did not know the widget is named weather widget as this is a factory default widget that I found it useful since I purchased the phone from day one. Thanks for your guidance and I know my phone in greater depth. I now resume it to my home screen successfully. Thanks for taking my silly question.

Beautiful Widgets Help

Please forgive my ignorance, this is probably an easy one.
I just purchased the beautiful widgets pro app from the market and I have installed it but I am not sure how to use it. When I try to get to widgets on my homescreen I don't see anything different (any beautiful widgets) Does sense have to be disabled or something? What am I missing?
Thank you
So you long press an empty space on your home screen (assuming the space is large enough), go to 'widgets' and select one of the Beautiful Widget options and nothing happens?

I rebooted the phone and its all good. It was not showing any of the beautiful widget options. Figured why not try the windows method of fixing things...

Beautiful Widgets

I've just downloaded this and have no idea how to get it to work, it says to long press on home screen and select widgets, but it doesn't have that option. Not supported for ICS??

Obviously not tried this with beautiful widgets. Their widgets do not show up in app draw. Only way to get them to work is 'long-pressing' home screen, which we know doesn't give a widget option in ICS.
As far as I'm aware, you would need a custom launcher which has long-press home screen for widgets option. Not worth it imo. I uninstalled my BeautifulWidgets App within 10 minutes of paying 10p for it yesterday, not wasting that kind of money!
I had this problem, beautiful widgets not showing up in app drawer.
Restarted my phone and they show up now.

What are you talking about? You use beautiful widgets just like any other widget. Did you happen to look at all the widgets that started with the word beautiful in the app drawer? I'm using it now and its super easy

You sometimes have to reboot for widgets to appear in the app drawer... You guys really take this stuff personally LMFAO
Thanks for calling tech support, have you tried turning it off and on again?
Lol, about half the widgets I've downloaded required a reboot to show up in the app drawer...when something doesn't work right, reboot.
A question, when I go in my widget setting to try and change it as I want to change something, I go into settings -> general and it force closes on me, I'm trying to get the black squares to disappear for the Ice Cream Sandwich Super Clock skin by a person named Tama-Chan.
If you can't do it using the app, is there any way to edit a current skin? I just want to remove the black squares and change the font to Roboto to match the ICS font? Any guidance would be much appreciated!

There was an update this morning that mentioned ics compatibility so maybe you can now edit preferences for a widget properly or you could try this:
I did it by removing and re-adding the widget. When you re-add it you get a dialogue asking you what settings you want to use which works.

[Q] Alarm question on ICS

Hello all....
Those of you familiar with Beautiful Widgets will understand my question...
Previously with Gingerbread roms on my SGS, there was an actual Alarm Clock app that you can hit and it would go straight into the alarm clock.
With Beautiful widgets, you can map the "Time Tap" to open up the Alarm clock, which to me was a great feature.
Now, with ICS on this thing, I can't find a way to go into the Alarm clock directly anymore... I have to go into the Clock app, then hit 'Set Alarm' Not a big deal, but kind of redundant and annoying.
Oddly enough, if you use the stock 'Analog Clock' Widget on your home screen, it does exactly what I want when you tap it.. it goes straight to alarms.
Am I missing something? Can I not get into alarms automatically with one tap somehow the way the Analog widget can?
In beautiful widget settings, go under advanced and select there which app should be opened when you tap the time part of the widget.

Just checked and noticed the same thing, Clock is an option, but nothing for Alarm Clock.
When I tap the clock from the widget I get sent straight to alarm clock.

I think he was referring to the stock clock widget. That is what I use to get into the alarm directly. I didn't see you mention that anywhere. Be kind, anyone who replies is only trying to help you with your question.

As for mentioning it, it clearly states that in my original post that the stock widget performs this function.

Hello Greeced,
Can you please clarify your question? I think it got a bit confusing down the line.
The stock "Analog Clock" widget takes you to the alarm menu when tapping on it.
That is the only widget ICS stock offers for the clock.
The Beautiful Widgets clock widgets also have that functionality. A tap on the clock part takes you to the alarm menu.
Are you looking for a way to get into the alarm settings without a clock widget?

Beautiful Widgets only has the functionality to select which program you want to open when you click on the time or date in the settings... but no longer has the option to select inside the "Choose Application" area to select Alarm Clocks... You can select Clock, but it only takes you to the desktop clock, a further tap below the time at that point will take you into the alarms.
So in essence, what you can do with the Analog Clock widget you can no longer do with Beautiful Widgets. (1 tap vs 2 to get into alarms.)
I hope thats clear.
Thanks for the clarification, but Beautiful Widgets behaves differently for me.
It behaves exactly like the stock analog widget. When I tap on the clock part it takes me straight to the alarms, not just to the desktop clock which would require another tap to get to the alarms.
I have nothing selected under super clock settings/clock settings/advanced/Time Application.

Thanks Pal, appreciate the help. I was going bananas.

Thanks a million

Well, from your description I can only guess what you actual problem is, since you didn't give any details.
So I just tried it on my N7 2013 and it's working as expected. Long press the clock/date that's normally there, then pull it onto the "remove" text that comes up. Now press the + that should show up and select Zooper from the list of available widgets. Tap the new widget, unlock the screen and you should be in the widget edit screen for your new Zooper lockscreen widget.

Allow any widget to be added to the lockscreen?

I've been searching for a way to allow any widget to be added to my Galaxy Note III lockscreen. I am using TouchWiz 4.4.2. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is an Xposed module that allows you to add most widgets to your lockscreen. It's called the "Samsung Multiple Widget" module. It also adds back the 'swipe right for camera' option. Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2363189
Edit: The thread above is the original thread, but the Dev is no longer working on it, so another user picked up where he left off. Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-samsungmultiplewidgets-kitkat-t2690190
Also, you might want to install the "Notification Mod" as well to get notifications on Touchwiz if you are using a secured lock screen. The way Samsung stopped allowing us to access the notifications when there is a pin/pattern is very annoying.
Let me know if you need any help getting either of those installed (but it's pretty self-explanatory).

Thanks for the reply man.
So I get all that but what i am trying to accomplish is to allow ANY widget to be allowed to be on the lock screen. For example HD widgets official lock screen widgets only has the Glass Gems packages. If I was able to "trick" the system into thinking I was just adding a widget to a home screen, not the lock screen, I would have many more options as to what I can add. Not as concerned about the number of widgets allowed. I was able to do this on the note 2 with some mod, but I don't remember what it was called.

I wish I could be more helpful. I don't use HD widgets, so I can't test it and see what works. But from looking at the cloud.tv FAQ, it looks like you should be able to get other themes/packages working on the lockscreen. This is what it says:
I can only see the Glass Gems style widgets in my Widget menu. Where are the other themes?
New themes are installed automatically and available for you to use in the app as soon as you've downloaded them from the Play Store. However, you won’t see the new theme style widgets in your Widget menu. The Glass Gems style widget that you see in your widget menu are just examples for each of the widget sizes. Once you've selected a widget size, you’ll be able to switch between themes from inside the app.
How do I change themes after I've picked a widget size?
After you've selected a widget size, tap on the theme name in the top right corner of the configure screen and to reveal the drop down menu. Then tap the theme you'd like to use.
Select new widget themes from the drop down menu (See screenshot below)
Also,
How do I add & remove lock screen widgets?
Deleting lockscreen widgets is really easy. Simply long press on the widget and drag to Remove.
How you'll add lockscreen widgets will differ slightly depending on your device.
For non HTC and Samsung devices:
When viewing your lockscreen swipe left to right starting with the clock until you see the add (+) button.
For most Samsung devices including Galaxy S3 and S4:
First enable lockscreen widgets in your device Settings. Go to Settings, then Lock Screen and check the box to enable Multiple Widgets. Then, when viewing your lock screen, swipe left to right until you see the add (+) button.
Note: Samsung have disabled lock screen widgets with pin or password. If you are using a secure lock screen setting, you won’t be able to use lock screen widgets.
The last part is true only if you don't use the Xposed mod that I posted earlier.
So, it looks like even though you will only see the glass gems widgets, you can still select the different theme/package you want after you have selected the widget size. I hope that helps. And if you already know all this stuff then I apologize.
Is there any way to automatically HIDE the PIN screen? It cut off the widgets, like DashClock. I have to swipe down, look at the widget, then swipe up to bring the pin screen back.

No, not without disabling it. And for the former try xlocky plugin for xposed, that may allow to use the widgets you want
