Samsung's original 2000mah battery is the best. It will make the phone about 2mm Thicker. Battery thickness increases with the capacity. If you dont want your phone to be thicker then you cant have an extended battery. And the original battery is available on ebay

I'm using this one. OK... it doesn't look so perfectly slim, but it is perfect as replacement on a long flight, or if you don't care if your phone looks a bit heavier.
I can't post the URL here, but search for 320919843605 on ebay

I have the genuine Samsung 2000 and find it very very good after a couple of cycles my battery life has easily doubled and I'm a heavy user. 12 hour working day Wifi/ data on all day bluetooth connection to car 2 hours a day many many calls, sms and emails every day. At the end of 'this' 12 hour shift my battery at around 50%.
I used my 'standard' case with the original back cover cut down to just below the camera to accommodate the extra thickness of the battery, so in my normal case the overall thickness is the same as if using standard battery.

Yes Samsungs 2000 battery is the best for me. Only 2mm more and a huge jump on batteryielife.

Genuine 2000mah is the best way to go, got mine for 21€ shiping included on amazon.

Anker brand quite good
Send from xda

Original 2000mah is the best choice. It will give you about 25% plus of what you are getting. The added thickness makes the phone nicer to hold and protects the camera lens.
Sent from my GT-I9100

is it still possible to squeeze a gel case protector over the top, or does that extra 1mm or so prevent it?

The official Samsung 2000mah battery seems a bit pricey where I am. Is the any alternatives that you guys can recommend?

From what I've heard it should fit just fine, extended batteries like 200-220 mAh come with a larger replacement battery cover for the phone.

No need to be sorry. What happened was I had ordered a standard battery but what I recieved was the slim extended one, which worked out for me because I was gonna purchase that one anyway if the standard battery didnt work. Besides that, it works great . Its a big difference from how my phone to and how it is now.... I'll post the link up when i get back.

why would get you get that one roloracer? the one in amazon is a lot cheaper and is a 15550 AM
I think (maybe) because he likes keeping the original thickness of the Dash (Excalibur). The Amazon one you spec'd will be thicker and require the supplied modified battery cover; at least judging from the description.

Aussiedog's right, I don't want to make the phone any thicker. I have a rubberized black hard case over my phone that I like a lot and I wouldn't be able to use it any more if I were to fatten my phone. I'm not saying the amazon battery isn't a good deal but , I would prefer an extended battery that would fit in the regular back cover.

I found a 1050mAh battery on ebay that sold with a car and home charger for about $10 with free postage. I had to ask them how much output it had - it's not included in their description. It's available from ebay member everydaysource - search for 'BUNDLE For HTC T-Mobile Dash Battery+Home+Car Charger‏'.
It works great. When it goes out, I'll probably get one of the Seidioonline batteries: an Innocell 1300 Extended Life Battery from seidioonline.com for 39.95. They claim 35% more power, but it's probably more like 15-20% more power. You can use your standard Dash back cover. They also have a great black rubberized plastic cover for about $6.
I'm definatly gonna buy one of these 1300 maH battery i use my phone for wifi all day, skype.. and web an emails but i get about 6 630mins straight wifi and emails etc so this 1300 should be able to pull off a decent calling time and wifi at night for a few good hours if if u choose, great upgrade, cant wait to get this thanks for info about this battery.

why not just use the Mugen 2000 mAh battery?
i only trust OEM batteries when it comes to Extended
besides 2000 - 1850 = 150 mAh gain, not really worth the upgrade
however 2100 - 1850 = 250 mAh gain, that is at least a decent quater pound over the original
it should at least give you another hour with 250 mAh
but 150 wont even last you 30min
according to the mAh consumption history of my phone, it averages around 213 to 555 mAh when in use, game or web surfing
iddle is 2 mAh

Here's why...
About the same price, OEM it is.
OEM Sammy has higher capacity, which is usually what they state. 3rd party batteries are generous with their numbers and tend to lie.
NFC

Agreed. OEM or not, it doesn't fit. I could rig a laptop battery up to my phone, that doesn't mean it's better. "but all you have to do is leave the battery door off and duct tape it to the back..." Um....no thanks. I don't care what kind of battery it is, if it doesn't fit, it's a waste of time.
Here's the extended Galaxy Nexus battery in my SGS2.
Can't tell you the battery life yet, gimme a day or two.
I'm not using the back cover, the Seidio Active takes care of it. Not a big deal since the case never comes off anyway.
peel off the label on the battery and take a Dremel to the back cover to make space. The case is thin, but a few thousands of an inch shouldnt hurt. you could possibly have the battery case down too if you're brave.
that case looks a touch heavy, how does it feel? whats the front look like?

i know our battery door is extremely flexible
i'm sure you can at least keep the better half of the batter door clicked in
while leaving only the bottom part un-hooked
and let the phone case do the rest of the job at keeping the batter in place

It seems to give about an hour more roughly. I did a little over 15hrs the other day (auto sync, BT, 4G, yadayada). I usually finish with about 14 normally.
YMMV, you may or may not see any difference.
If money is tight, don't buy it. I'm sure most people aren't going to go bonkers over that one hour.

Which is the size and weight?
I mention in the review - size is approximately double the thickness (perhaps very slightly more), I haven't actually weighed it, but noticeably heavier with it. Will update the review with more details when I have the battery usage screenshots for it.
Very nice review, almost pushed me to buying one to be honest.
Maybe once I build up some more money I will consider picking one up.

Weight and size.

as netizenmt mentioned, weight and size are factors to consider. a buddy of mine has the extended batteries and they're thick. if you have a leather case it'll be quite a challenge to close it...let alone use the case snaps to clamp on the sides of the phone. given that the play is slightly thicker already, the thick batts really make it bigger. just be careful if you do order the batts. i read somewhere in the forum about them being sold through ebay...only to find out that some aren't "compatible". can't remember if that meant function-wise.

If the case requires the PLAY's original dimensions, then no. The MUGEN battery protrudes further than the stock battery
the MUGEN battery is bigger and heavier, but you would have to really work your phone to get through it in a day, ive left my phone running castlevania sotn at 180fps for about 8+ hours with a 1.5ghz oc and i still had power to spare..
essentially the great thing about these batteries is that battery life doesnt become a concern anymore, i get about 3 days battery life with standard use, if i turned off data, god knows how much i would get.
iphone users jaws drop when i tell them i get 3 days battery, i love it.

Yeah but you carry a behemoth around with you
i dont think about the weight, in fact i usually still have trouble feeling it vibrate and i have to touch my pocket every now and then to make sure i still have it.
ive had a comment off a teenage girl before who seemed rather offended at the prospect of trading size for battery life.. but she probably also doesnt understand why i want a gamepad.. noone else, or me cares.
the part i care about is being able to use my phone, for anything, whenever i want and never having battery be a factor. its completely worry free. my ultimate device in my pocket that can always be relied upon. i quite like the feel of the gamepad with the thicker back cover, and i honestly dont think the replacement cover is anywhere near as visually offensive as many slab phone back covers which jut out in crazy places, im 100% happy with it.
you have already decided to sacrifice some form for having a gamepad, why not sacrifice a bit more form to be able to use it to its fullest extent?

Battery Case recommendations

Hey everyone. I have seen countless threads for the Nexus 5 Battery cases.
Just wondering if anyone has tried this:
http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/251631021161?nav=SEARCH
Want to know if its worth it? Also, i have heard good things about the i-Blasin battery case and ZeroLemon ones.
Any feedback on a really good battety case would be appreciated
I have the Zerolemon, it arrived today. I can't comment on battery life yet but I'm very pleased with the case itself. It is particularly bulky but I prefer this to the bare phone, which i find far too slim. The extra size hasn't impeded on "thumb-reachability", I can still use it entirely one handed - in fact it sits far better in my hand as it actually has some weight to it and enough device to grip properly.
The built in screen protector does its job although I'll likely replace it with an adhesive glass one in the future, it's a bit naff. Buttons all work well, as does the camera flash - doesn't seem to impede image quality when it's used.
The belt clip I'll never use, and it's useless as a kickstand as the clip itself holds it at terrible angles. Could be repurposed as a car mount though without much trouble.

On Amazon. This is the exact product link I bought, but the spec and picture have now changed (my case is black, plus I have the battery) It was $39.99 before shipping.

If it helps at all, the LG G2 battery they do should fit fine, albeit you'd need to buy the case separately.

I've ordered the exact external battery case as shown.. Charging full for the 1st time now.. Looking good so far. No complains except the slow charging..
zerolemon urgent help needed!
I just bought a zerolemon extended battery for my nexus 5, but i dont know how to use it beside that ive charged it gor 12 hrs for initial use and it got over in just one day!
Maybe i didnt use it efficiently or any other issue,
If anyone has it please advice me how to use it effeciently!
Thanks!
Maybe users with external battery cases can share how they use their battery cases..
Is the zerolemon customber service good or they don't answer?
Is this any good? -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/3800mA-Exte...18?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item566ddadaa2
Price is good and installation seems easy.
Tommy this thing seems good but shouldn't a battery of 3800 mAh give your nexus a charge more than once? As nexus built in battery is 2300 mAh?
I am using zerolemon extended battery of 3500 mAh but it doesn't give me one complete charge though, but still its handy while you are travelling..
But the zerolemon is very bulky with 100% protection, this thing isn't bulky but as they claim its optimal protection, so my opinion is you given it a try, its worth it BUT @ your own risk
So can anyone give any reviews on the zero lemon case? Worth the money or what?

I don't recommend it for continuous use, until and unless you are someone who constantly is in journeys. The battery gives one n a half extra charges to your nexus 5..
I would rather call it an external charger, or a power bank, rather than external battery for nexus 5..
Hopefully I answered your query, there shall be any other query? Feel free to ask..

I would rather call it an external charger, or a power bank, rather than external battery for nexus 5..
Hopefully I answered your query, there shall be any other query? Feel free to ask..
Thank you!

Why would you not recommend it for daily use? I'm trying to see the pros and cons. This is pretty much the most solid one of all the options we have for the Nexus 5.

I don't recommend it because I've used it, the charging input from the zero lemon to your nexus is weak, it will take 3 hrs to complete, and constant usage at the time of charging heats up not only your device but also the zero lemon battery...
I don't say its bad, but I wasn't satisfied with it, and yes comparatively zero lemon is the best... But ultimately there's no solution to this nexus battery problem..
U can still go for it.. But don't use zerolemon too much, except at the time of necessities..
Anything else?
I carry a vinsic 20000 MA battery and 2metre lead in my backpack. Just pull out as much lead as needed to reach my pocket. Soon charges with 2.1amps and fast charge. Better than a case imo. I use bluetooth adapter for music and calls so the phone stays in the pocket and I can use my Sennheiser cans with no lead.
