BT DUN profile - is it there or is it not? - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Tried to use i8160 as a mobile BT hotspot for my tablet (as it consumes less power than WiFi). Errors everywhere, None of appls available in market does work.
According to phone arena i8160 has no DUN or PAN (dial-up networking profile / personal area network) in it's BT http://www.phonearena.com/phones/co...-2,Samsung-Galaxy-S-III/phones/4522,6940,6330
Is it true? Could be anything done with that? Is is firmware-side or hardware-side? I cannot believe that DUN/PAN is too complicated for i8160 as even my old Nokia has it :/ Did samsung rip-off all new phones from DUN (PA states that SGS3 has no DUN profile too but it has PAN)

How to make a 3G dial up via BT?

This may have been asked already.
Ive been playing with my M2000 for a bit now and i cant seem to find a way i can make a BT modem conection through my Nokia 6630 (3G)
All i had to do on my M1000 was just create new dial up *99#
I want me 3G conection back!
grrr
I don't think Blue Angel doesn't has the right bt profile for that to work.
I seem to remember that it would need 'Dial up networking client' profile, but it only has 'Dial up Networking Server'.
Himalaya and Alpine has both.
JD
this is a problem with our bt stack, that not support BT dial up modem
regards
are there any workarounds, hacks, flashes, or programs that will allow this?
The Blue Angle buletooth have some bugs. I tried to swap another BT Engine/patch but it will disconnect in a large volume of traffic. You can find another BT Engine/Patch in the forum to test.

dun(dialup network)vs pan(internet connection sharing)+usb vs bluetooth routing help?

dun(dial up network)vs pan(personal area network/internet connection sharing)+ usb vs bluetooth routing help?
i see the simplicity in PAN but for me it seems to be limited to just the use with one pc.
i have done some searches on the these subject.
i have seen some hacks to get PAN to work with multiple pc using bluetooth.
i want to see if Pan could be set up to share the internet with multiple pcs using the usb cable.
i would really like to find a way to have both DUN + PAN on the tytn running wm6.
i want to see if i could install DUN back on to a my tytn running wm6.
from what i have read it seems microsoft did not remove DUN and left it as an option.
other than that note it seems there is no install file available to the public to install DUN
if it has never been included in the rom.
i guess i would not worry about DUN if PAN could do everything i want.
i have shared multiple pcs before to connect to the internet using DUN.
i have had no luck with PAN.
in the end i really want to use the tytn as router to connect a handful of device to the internet.
is Pan really that limited or do i just nut understand it enough to maxims its benefits?
if PAN is that limited is there any real chance to get DUN back on wm6?

BT - WIFI interfirence
Try this on your Excalibur:
Establish connection with BT headset
Dial voice number
Activate WIFI at the same time
Did you hear any crackling and noise in your BT headset?
i'll try this a bit later when i get the chance, but isn't it common to have some interference if data is transmitting for both since they're both operating on 2.4ghz? also, what headset are you using? bt 1.2 should be better than 1.1

Well, I don't have this problem with TyTn.
I've tried Nokia BH 900 and Jabra JX10 - both 2.0
I'm glad i saw this thread. I'm having the same issue. I cannot stream music to my motorola ht820 bluetooth stereo headset if i use wifi. It just keeps stopping and freaks out on me. I was having issues streaming videos to my dash via wifi and using the headset also. I could not stream 100kbps videos over wifi! I thought the phone just wasn't powerful enough. (although it's not.. I could stream 300kbps videos on my old hp 3615 via wifi fine.)
I just was able to stream a video at 300kbps fine without bluetooth turned on using wifi and it worked fine. Grr!!
BT and wifi both use the same frequency.
I think you shoud try an other channel for the wifi. It may solve your problem.
Wifi how do you set IPs/DNS info?
did i over look something i can't figure out how to set IP, DNS and Subnet for my phone. I've gone to every connection screen did i over look something?
Internet via WiFi - Wireless Access Points Only
I am not subscribing to the data service on my cellular net. I only want to be able to access the net and email when I am in range of my WAP at home/work or at my favorite hot spots. I've got the WiFi settings so that I am connecting to my WAP and can see the SSID when it connects.. I've tried adjusting the settings in the IE options and am at the point where once in a while (1 out of 8 or so ) I can open access one page of a web site.. but can not navigate any further. If I type a different URL in it says locating and loading then times out.... what did I miss???
T-Mobile Dash / Re-ROM-ed to Excaliber.
All other functions seem to be OK.
Thanks, XmP
I've seen this as well. Playing around earlier today, I installed Opera Mini. Opera works fine over wifi or edge. I believe that the issue involves one or more IE bugs involving either the size (fragmentation?) of cache and/or scripts.
Also, Opera Mini isn't a solution (yet) either. It works great once installed and launched from the installer - but has to be uninstaller and reinstalled to work after you exit.
I can't wait for a linux port
I run into this problem all the time at my college and at my home. I turn on my wifi and the phone defaults to the network instead of wifi. I am on cingular with the 8125, I was using I/S PL 1.08 i just updated to cingular rom 2.24.10.1 WWE. I have tried IE, Opera, Mozilla (Minimo) and another i forget the name of. In all I preferred Opera but I feel Mozilla will be the best once the bugs are gone.
Oh yah and when I try and connect to the wifi network at my school they require a redirect to login through bluesocket. That is just too difficult for my little wizard and I rarely get through that system.
External antenna jack on Excaliber/Dash... is it just for GSM? or also WiFi?
Anyone had experience with the external antenna jack on the back of the Dash (under the mirror button)? Just wondering if using this connector would improve performance on WiFi? or is it designed only for GSM reception?
I found a cable which fits the connector perfectly. Thanks for your responses.
Issue solved!
I rebooted my wireless router and everything works great...
Bump!
I'm guessing the absence of answers means that the settings cannot be changed (or may need a reg hack to do so) - I can't find them anywhere either...
so it works for an external wifi as well?
yes, it is possible to change these settings (or at least the IP adress). I have read about it, but can't remeber where. It's possible to chnge it somewhere in the registry, can't be changed directly through settings. If I find it, where I read about it, I will post it here ...
As I remember the external is designed for car holder external antenna, not for WiFi. You may find at most of the GSM mobile back also have this.
This was posted over at howardforums too. What, you didn't search the internet endlessly to find an answer?
Above poster is correct, it's for GSM only. Like I said over at HoFo, unless you're lost in the backwoods, I don't think it's going to help much. Plus, it looks a tad silly!
Thanks for all your responses. Yeah, I posted the question in a couple of forums (the level of expertise varies widely, as you know!).
Reason I asked... we want to be able to access realtime weather conditions while at a remote nature facility on a barrier island here on the West Coast of Florida -- you know, like hurricanes There is a weak WiFi signal from an access point about 1/4 mile away. I simply wanted to establish a stronger link by using an external antenna.
So although it might have looked silly, it was to be a quick fix for instant weather updates (like radar), when needed.
Wifi connection sloooow. For you also?
Hi, with my stock htc s620, establishing a connection to a wifi network that is already saved (home & work), takes around 1 to 2 mins.
What often happens also is that it goes to sleep before even connecting (with me waiting in IE or mail to clic on a favorite or do a send & receive action).
I can't understand this since a nokia n80 will take seconds and it's almost instantaneous on my macbook.
Are there any tricks or software that can accelerate this (unless I'm the only one to have this problem)?
Seems to be a problem of your hardware or a configuration problem. I have energy save mode enabled and usually it takes two or three seconds to connect, sometimes up to ten seconds, if it has extremly low WiFi-Signal.
interesting, I'm going to investigate on the software part first... You really think it could be a hardware issue?
What's sure is that once the connection is established, it's fast and doesn't drop.
BTW, do you mean seconds after the handset is waken up from sleep?
Hum, after looking in my Remove section on my handset, nothing appears, is there some kind of registry cleaner for smartphone?

Adding a Bluetooth DUN Client Profile?

Hi,
I'm trying to tether my Touch Pro 2 to my N95 (N95 acting as the modem as I want to use that SIMs data plan). When my TP2 tries to discover the N95 it only displays the "File Transfer" and "Serial Port Data Transfer" profiles. It does not display the Dialup Neworking Client profile (even though the N95 supports the DUN profile).
Looking through other threads I see that other devices (such as Blue Angel) which have had this issue have been resolved with some registry changes and replacing the BTWizardProfiles.dll. However, this DLL doesn't seem to be present on the TP2 - presumably because it's a different OS version and different BT stack.
I can't use the BT PAN profile as the N95 does not support PAN and I'd rather not go down the WiFi Joikuspot route.
Any ideas on how to add/enable the DUN Client profile?
Thanks,
Graeme

Wifi cuts out when bluetooth is in use

Whenever I have both bluetooth enabled (and paired with any device) and wifi enabled, and I'm streaming music (Spotify in my case), after several minutes (almost randomly), the internet will stop working. Meaning, the WiFi icon will still show as connected, but it can't connect to anything online. I typically have to disable and re-enable WiFi for it to work, but then it would do the same thing again.
The strange thing is, my Galaxy S4 had the exact same issue/behavior. On both devices, I've seen this behavior regardless of the type of WiFi connection and/or bluetooth device (I've noticed it with my skullcandy headphones as well as my Sync in my car).
Do these devices share the same bluetooth/wireless chipset? Is it an Android thing? I'm forced to either use 4G with bluetooth, or WiFi with wired headphones. Thanks.
EDIT: this is using 5ghz Wifi.
What version of android are you on ?
carrier phone or unlocked. Some times these issues are carrier specific and non existent on others.
If you go into settings - wifi
Uncheck any option that says switch to data if wifi is unavailable.
I can confirm that this is an issue, I experience the same problem on my g4 818p
Sent from my LG-H818 using Tapatalk
WiFi goes on 2.4ghz or 5ghz(most commonly on 2.4ghz) Bluetooth works on 2.4ghz. Unless you are 1m from router, BT is going to butcher your wlan. Had the same problem before. Solved it by buying dual band modem-router.
You could forcing different channel in wlan settings.
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/fix-bluetooth-wifi-interference-71008.html
idea here is reducing interference to bluetooth from competing sources.
- switch off wifi and use data which the OP is doing. Curious that the problems occur even at 5Ghz. Would have thought that band would be relatively immune to 2.4ghz sources.
- reduce the distance between bluetooth device and phone.
- move away from any sources of wifi interference if wanting to use bluetooth.
And now from the ppposite direction. Preventing bluetooth from interfering with wifi

Read the comments below. similar to the OP.
The key is more management of the problem rather than solution.

I'm using the Verizon variant.
this issue hunted me on all software version
Many options live
Router: Try another chanel
Router: Try only 2.4 or 5 Ghz
Router: Try only N or try only b/g/n mixed
App: Delete tunin radio
Last options send back service mainboard change.
i m facing the same problem but only when i do cellular call,
i am using realme wireless earphone , when i used to call my wifi speed gradually decrease , and after that stop working completely..,
after disconnecting the call i need to OFF and ON to work wifi again....,
My wife got the same issue with a Samsung A40 (and before with a Motorola), when using 2.4 wifi and Bluetooth connections (band and speaker for instance) the wifi is hanging. With wifi 5 it's ok. I don't have any issue with my phone using same network. It's crazy.
