I have had my Kindle Fire for over a year and I have used various ROMs. Most recently, I was using the HellFire ROM and it crashed out on me. I decided to go back to stock for a while but noticed a new version of FFF (v1.4a) so decided to install that. Now, it boots to the FFF screen but nothing else. I cannot enter the boot menu. My computer does not recognize the device (no sound from the computer recognizing that it was plugged in) with either a regular or factory USB cable (I've used the factory cable before to unbrick the device).
I have read through the other posts regarding similar problems but all of those posts were resolved with either a driver problem or with a factory cable. None of the utilities or terminal commands are useful since the device is not recognized.
I have let the battery completely drain (letting it sit in a drawer while I take a break from the problem). It does recharge with the factory charger, but one thing of note is that the LED stays green during the charge. It never turns amber either on the charger or when it is connected to the computer.
Anyone have any ideas? I've been scratching my head lots over this. Many thanks for anyone willing to scratch along with me.
So have you tried Soupkit? How did you flash your bootloader?

First of all, thanks for replying and trying to help. I have tried SoupKit and the Macintosh utilities but I keep getting the same response "Your device appears to be offline."
I originally rooted the kindle by manually entering adb commands. I installed the bootloader with KFU.
Is the bootloader splash static or does it blink on and off? Are you able to accces the boot menu to reset bootmode or enter recovery or select normal boot?

The bootloader splash is static. I am unable to access the boot menu at all.
I have been playing with the "short the point" install TWRP over USB but to no avail. I get "waiting for OMAP44xx device" and that's all.

i got a kindle fire 2 here, but it is stucked on the Bootlogo. it was tried to install a custom rom by a friend of mine, so i cant tell, which method he tried or on what command it failed. a backup isn't available.
anyway, i got a fastboot cable here, which my friend didn't had.
when i plug it, it start into fastboot mode an show me a flashing green traffic light. the windows device manager shows me the "Kindle Fire -> Android Composite ADB Interface" (as seen in the attachment)
the "fastboot devices -i 0x1949" command shows me a "0E6... fastboot" line.
i tried to fix it with commands from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963
ended up, that the blue kindle logo doesn't show up. instead its now stucked in a bootloop. the logo disappers any few seconds and it seems, the device is restarting every time.
now i have no idea anymore, how to go on. tried to use the kindlefireutility2, but after i run it, it closes immediately or just shows "Initializing..."
also the FirstAide64 will not work. when i select "Completly Restore KF2 - fastboot" it shows up an Error Message "The system can not find the specified path..."
adb commands are not usable during fastboot, right? because the adb devices list is empty every time.
hopefully someone can give me a hint, what else i can try.

So you have followed Steps 3 and 4?
Just below that is a method to flash back to stock, have you tried that, as the stock files are there as well?

I was having the same problem, i just booted and suddenly turned off. It was on the stock rom , so I used a factory cable and installed fff 1.4 then installed the twrp 2.5 from their site but I'm not able to get it into recovery, just an amber light and it turns off!! I'm wondering if is not compatible, I tried the otter and blaze twrp just to make sure...
What do you think? Did you managed to fix it?

i wanted to get the restoration tool from here, but the file is not availible anymore. anyway, the device didn't received the adb commands.
i tried to flash the original stock rom back, just by using files from amazon. i don't know what happend, but after "fastboot bootloader" command the Kindle is dead. No more LED light while charging, no reaction on fastboot cable
first i thought, the battery is empty, but after one night on the charger, nothing changed. the device stays complete black.
Any chances left (even at amazon?) or is the garbage the only place this kindle belongs now?
Well Arthur, if you have not opened it should not be dead, it seems like you are on a boot loop and maybe the battery is fully discharged.
Please explain how did you tried to install the Amazon stock ROM

well, my first thoughts were also, that the battery is discharged. but i used next to my computer already an ipad charger and my phone-charger (both over 1A out) over night. but still no lightning of the LED.
last thing i remember, was a (afterwards clearly) stupid hint from a ebay page. [fastboot -i 0x1949 flash bootloader u-boot.bin] i used the u-boot.bin from the amazon homepage.
afterwards the kindle shut down and the lightning LED has never been seen again
Your KF will not charge if bricked, you could try a factory cable to get it into fastboot mode but if it is discharged maybe you must try another method to charge the battery... First try the factory cable!!

i tried with a factory cable, but again, no response from the device. As I mentioned, I tried already several charger.
And what do you mean by another charging method? Is there something i don't know yet ?

First off, this is my first post :victory: and I need some help.
Last night I used this thread to successfully get root access on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9".
Then, wanting to install CyanogenMod 10.1 on the Kindle, I tried to install the second bootloader and TWRP Recovery. At this point, the Kindle began to reboot. When it turned on, the Kindle Fire logo appeared, shined a few times, then blank red covered the screen.
I can turn on/turn off the Kindle, but all I see is this red screen. Anything I can do?
I've looked at factory cables, hopefully there are some things I can try before I buy that...?
A factory cable won't work on the 8.9
Disconnect the USB cable
Turn the device completely off (hold power button for 10 seconds)
Enter: fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
Reconnect the USB cable
As the device powers up, if your fastboot drivers are working properly, the device should boot into fastboot mode. Use it to restore your saved partition images.

HAVING SAME PROBLEM KFHD 8.9 2nd Gen RED BOOT.
I have the same problem. Can boot into fast mode with KFFA, but restoring stock settings seem to be Impossible. I have tried to restore with ADB, ADB (Fastboot), KFFA, and KF SRT. No matter what red boot screen will not go away and device can only fastboot. Any help?

Red screen is also considered a hard brick. Sometimes restore does not work.
Same happened here
Today I rooted my kindle fire 2nd gen10.4.8 using vroot I also installed a boot loader that as soon as I tried downloading shut my kindle fire down and when I tried unsuccessfully to turn it back on the red kindle fire symbol came for a second and then the careen was red

My kindle is rooted and when i flahsed a recovery it asked if i wanted to boot into recovery after i said yes then when it booted the kindle fire logo appeared for about 1 second then a red screen slid in from the side now it wont boot into recovery fastboot or normal mode and i have reinstalled kindle drivers several times as well as fastboot.exe and also adb.exe and nothing works the computer sees it for 3 seconds if i hold power volume down but then it goes to red screen
You need to run this on the computer: fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
Once it says waiting for device, plug the kindle in while it is off, if the bootloader isn't too damaged it should kick into fastboot. Hopefully you also installed the fastboot drivers previously or your best bet might be a Linux live distro like Ubuntu.

fastboot doesn't recognize if there is a way to fix this or a way to keep the kindle connected for more then 3 seconds i would appreciate it
What does the kindle show up as for those 3 seconds? Because usually it shows up as a jem device (without the driver installed) or a adb device (with fastboot drivers installed) and in those 3 seconds that command gets it to go into fastboot mode so you can fix it. All that needs doing is the bootimg needs to be flashed or erased and fastboot should be more cooperative.

should i run certain files?if so please tell me where and how?
Use kindle fire first aid or system restore tool for the rest once it is in fastboot mode or flash a backup of your boot image with "fastboot -i 0x949 flash boot boot.img", that should fix a red screen/bad loop scenario where fastboot is not working well, etc.

i cant tell what it shows up as because by the time it shows up in the device manager the kindle disconnects
how do i flash a boot.img if the kindle is only connected for 3 seconds and fastboot isn't working
A ubuntu live os probably would do the trick
May I give up kindle fire hd 8.9 ?

As you told. I try use fastboot by KFFirst Aide or KF SRT 2.1 but not thing chance. My screen still blank red. So Sad .
My Kindle Fire HD 8.9 Use stock rom from amazon 8.5.1.

i have KF2 and i try root and install TWRP on it
im on 10.4.6 on my kindle
1- root my device
2-reboot in fastboot and install TWRP
3- blue kindle fire successfully install
now after reboot my device when normal boot goes to "Your kindle device cannot boot" screen and when i factory defualt back to this screen
and when my kindle boot up goes to recovery, my device stuck on kindle fire blue and do not any thing
when this happend.. when i turn of my device and turn on when cable in my device can go to fastboot but i flash otter2-u-boot-prod-10.2.4.bin and now when my device turn on when in cable cant access to fastboot

I didn't have to reboot to fast boot to install TWRP. I just downloaded the apk from here http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/79 and installed it from es file explorer

Get into Fastboot with whatever, uninstall Kindle drivers, reinstall, and do your own recovery stuff.
If by "cable in my box" you mean the one that came with the kindle, that is not a factory cable, I believe the full name is Motorola factory programming cable, I just call it a fastboot cable since you plug it in and the device goes straight into fastboot. You may not need one if the logo turns blue even if you don't have the recovery partition flashed, in my experience, once second boot loader is installed it acts a lot like the 8.9" boot loader in the way we can get it into fastboot without a fastboot cable. If your PC makes a connect and disconnect sound when you plug your kindle in and it powers on to the blue logo, check the device manager to make sure the device is not appearing as otter2 with an yellow triangle, if it is they to update the drivers with the ones in my signature. I suggest downloading and cding (from a command prompt) into kindle fire first aid's directory and running

i use your driver and can access to fastboot then i flash 10.2.3 with 3 file in fastboot to bootup my device... but when reboot my device cant boot and have tringle red logo and i dont have blue kindle fire logo... now what can i do to boot my device.. more time i do reset factory but dont change any thing and i have tringle red logo
Odd, sound alike you will need a fastboot cable this time around and you need to reflash the system image again I think, maybe the last one had a bad md5sum or something.

Did you flash the older 10.2.4 boot loader file. The newer bootloader has the hole fixed

I have a problem with my KFHD 8.9 that i cant access my fastboot and im stuck on the orange static logo.

You have to right click the jem device with an exclamation in the device manager, hit update drivers and point it to where you would have extracted my drivers(might have to uninstall the old ones first), but its very difficult to do because the kindle only broadcasts in fastboot for a few seconds, its way easier to just boot a Ubuntu 13.10 live cd and do it because its doesnt require any drivers, just the fastboot command.

All was going well with my Fire HD 8.9, I rooted it, had the 2nd bootloader installed and was trying to install CM 11 before I got an error message saying that the jem version was the one I needed. I couldn't get my computer to recognise the the Kindle whilst in TWRP, so thought that I'd have to restore from the backup I made (of the stock Kindle OS and settings) to be able to transfer the version of CM that I needed. The backup seemed to work, but it hasn't in fact.
I turn on the Kindle and it gets stuck at the very first image of the logo, with NO animation
I'm unable to get back into TWRP
I can turn the kindle on and off but that's it
I can't use any recovery programs because my PC doesn't recognise the Kindle
I uninstalled and reinstalled the adb drivers, but when I connect the Kindle, my PC plays the 'Device Connected' then 'Device disconnected' sounds in quick succession, making the installation of any drivers fail
It's as though there's a brief second or two when USB works on the Kindle in terms of my PC knowing something is there, but then the USB disconnect noise plays
I only got it a day ago (managed to mess it up very quickly somehow!), so I could always try returning it if needs be, but hopefully that won't be necessary. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
EDIT - I can get the device to come up with fastboot mode and then the computer recognises it as an Adb device, but don't know where to go from there.
I would try to fix it from recovery if possible, it is way easier than having to do the process over again. You do know how to get it back into recovery right? Hold down volume up right after you power it on, just keep holding it even after kindle logo turns blue until you see the twrp logo. If that doesn't work, I would use kindle fire first aid to restore it and start over, but if you can get it into recovery then you can simply push a ROM onto it via adb.

Thanks for the reply. I actually managed to fix it in the end by using the fast boot command and then connecting the Kindle, then using the SR tool to erase user data and cache, before flashing the boot and recovery imgs (just saying in case anyone googles and this comes up and it might help).
