PTPT-New Beta Software for Android - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, just wanted to share this with you. Thought it was pretty neat and a fresh take on android since the roms lately kinda seem like the same old stuff anymore, not to put down the great work the devs of this community put out. I just signed up to be a beta tester so hopefully they'll email me back saying i can test this software. I believe this would be considered closed source, but would be great if they approached this community for input into this OS. If this has been covered already, mods please let me know and this posting can be deleted.
http://www.petitpetit.de/products/ptpt/

I didnt see any new OS there. Just some apps running on a year old galaxy s2. The video was from almost a year ago

New PTPT Beta Release
Hi t1.8matt,
I was able to try PTPT's previous version and I agree -> a definite fresh take on android They'll be launching a newer release some time next week. Probably Friday March 22, so stay tuned. Along with the release, there will be an easier way for beta testers to login and download the .apk.
I wanted to share a video with you re: PTPT but currently, I am not allowed to post outside links
Cheers!

Honestly, I watched a couple videos on it and dont really find the UI pleasing to the eye. But I guess I will keep an eye on it just in case.

PTPT New UI
Hi jsgraphicart, PTPT's initial UI needed to be a lot more user friendly. I saw the latest version of their UI and there has been much improvement. Hopefully, you'll join as a beta tester when the new release comes out next week. I'll make sure to send you the link.
Cheers!

Thanks so much for trying the link. We're in the process of making the LOGIN a lot easier, with a link to download the .apk.
It should be ready by this Friday, March 22.
I'll let you know once everything is done.

You can't find anything that smooth though. That was well done. I agree with the launcher7. I had my MIUI set up like wp7, but it didn't look that smooth

I got the dev, and he may be able to port. If anyone else wants to test with me, pm him and mention that I asked for a port.

I will try to port this over. I don't have the dinc2 but I will see what I can do. But I would like to wait till the ROM gets out of beta. You guys have an unlocked bl of i'm not mistaken and id like to get a kernel to go along with it give me a week or two I'll start the process.
Tyler? He asked for the sense setup a opposed to blurs, and yes it will be sense setup. That well make the phone more smooth, and I don't think I can without a different kernel anyway. If you guys want this, op make this thread a poll, so I can see what I got to please if you don't mind. I'll try to get test roms out next week sometime, I already have two testers(the originals who pmd me). Check out the link for current standings of the rom. Keep in mind it is still beta on x2.
What I do need...
A themer
And any init.d scripts for boot unless you have a good kernel dev that would help for I don't have this phone.
but regardless I won't be able to start this until I get the x2 out of beta.

I have the only known copy of HC that works. There was v 1.0 which should have had the audio fix I did so you can switch between onboard speakers, and headphone Jack, v 2.0 was a few very minor tweaks, and my personal build is a port with full video, 3g, resolution fixed, and keyboard fixed. Its my daily driver/pet project.
There were 8 released BTL roms in total, well I think if I remember 4 but with a revision, ill look on the backup drive when I get a chance this week.

Im getting constant force closes with 1.0. Is that fixed in your daily driver? Using a VZW SGT. Btw, AMAZING work on thesee roms. I hope you return to developing for the CDMA tabs and dont let those other jealous people bring you down. I am not, nor ever was any kind of "messiah" for the tab. I had alot of help from Spacemoose and was trying to nail down kernel development. It was just a side "hobby"
I get requests for "teaching" people how to do this, i dont have the time, or ability to do that, I am a difficult person to work with as a teacher.
As far as "future" releases, at this moment, not going to happen, new stuff that is. I am still pretty upset over what happened here. Hell I dont even visit The Android Door right now.
re:
yea always good to have hobbies.. keeps ya outta trouble lol... yea im with ya on that one. id like to learn how to build from source im gonna start looking at forums and guides try to get started on that... i like the new ics seen on ur post u was tinkering with that... is it better than HC? i have a rom on my phone but id love to see it on tab... techs moving fast with tegra 3 and everything... only takes a few months and seems like ur device is out dated lol.. idc i still love my tab and it fits perfect in my back pocket so its pretty much everywhere i am lol plus the kids love netflix so keeps them busy too
But it would be completely awesome to see some working sexy HC on our CDMA tabs...
Am i missing something on better than life hc v1? Installs no problem, however i cannot get past the first screen for selecting language, if i install spacemoose v2.5 i have no problems....
Good to see your presence again oldmacnut!
nah it does there was a thread about it... to get pass the welcome screen u have to do "four corners trick".... on the screen tap the top left corner, top right corner, bottom right corner, then the bottom left corner it'll bypass it..
nevermind....i found the original install instructions.
Nice to see these again

Just a quick, HUGE thank you to oldmacnut. I inherited a bricked tab; I got it working with AdamOutler's one click back to stock, but couldn't bypass the activation (except for the initial setup; after that the bypass stopped working). I installed the Confidence and Paranoia v1 ROM, though, and it lets me skip activation and have a great little Gingerbread tab!
Now I just need to find an update to 2.3.5/6 (If someone can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful )
I hope you'll consider continuing with v3 someday, oldmacnut!

Time to start a campaign

That being, a campaign of Twitter and G+ posts to try and get some form of response from Google about the next OTA for the Galaxy Nexus, or at least some transparency on where they are up to with the release.
I am thinking a hashtag like #NexusOTA
Let's pretend i'm a big person at Android team. I can realease ICS 4.0.5 for you tomorrow, but it'll have nearly same issues as 4.0.3. Do you really want it? I don't.
Next version of ICS will be out as soon as it's ready!
I think what scottatron is saying is why the heck do they take so long...be transparent about at what stage of development they're up to and give us an estimate of when is ready...I mean a the whole premise of a Google phone is the continuing update and support, they can be more open and up front about it

Pretty much spot on.
I agree, there are enough issues to warrant releases. And some regions have yet to get an OTA release. Seems odd given ICS was intended to simplify development by making it platform independent.

Here's the thing... Either you really care that much about being up to date on 4.0.3/4.0.4 instead of 4.0.2, and you just flash a custom ROM; OR you don't care that much and you should be happy with 4.0.2 and it'll be OTAd as soon as it's ready.
Chill. No one is going to do this and no one will listen. You think that Googlers are going to see a bunch of tweets and be like "omg I guess we should start coding this next OTA release! We'll stop slacking!". Good lord, people...
They're not going to release the OTA until its ready. I'd take a 4.0.4 that's fully baked rather than a 4.0.3 that has some fixes and leaves bugs... and another OTA to 4.0.4 after that to fix the rest.
Didn't they run into more problems by giving ETA's and then missing them?

Pretty much. Everyone wants ETA's... until they start giving ETA's that can't be met and/or the ETA's are considered too far in the future.
Pretty much Google will be scolded by whiney kids either way.

As my friend here said "Good lord, people..." If you must have the latest flash the leaked 4.0.4 and be done with it.
And exactly what are you waiting for in the next release? what major issues do you have with 4.0.2?
Why are you on xda developers if you're not doing anything with your phone? There is plenty of forums that are just about stock nexus and that's where you should be .... I bought this phone for one reason only custom roms and always compatible roms. If I'd be you I'd buy HTC or other Samsung device and than whine for ota

Some people (like myself) chose to buy a Nexus because it offers you the freedom to choose whether or not you want to root/hack/ROM your phone. I primarily bought the Nexus because I was tired of rooting/ROMing being the only option I had to get a near-AOSP experience with the features I wanted.
It's okay to not root, just don't complain about OTAs if you choose not to. Similar to my previous post -- if you care enough to be following 4.0.x releases, you should not complain about the quickness of your OTAs imho. Part of choosing to stay stock is dealing with the OTA release schedule. There are pros and cons to both sides. If you really want OTAs on your schedule, you just have to do the work and manually make it happen.
This is starting to remind me of the Nexus One and the froyo release. People are freaking out because they aren't getting nightly builds from Google.
Grow up.

Another one star thread, pro.
Just help yourself and root your phone, then we don't have to read these pointless threads.
95% of people here respond as they do because the could care less about OTA's because we install custom ROMs.
now I feel bad for the op.
but to quote meryl streep, whatev.

That's pretty much why I got a Nexus One and stuck with the brand. While the ROM scene is pretty cool I really can't be bothered to spend my life messing around with my primary phone (got sick of that back in the WinMob days), I'd rather have something which just works and doesn't have a 6 month lag for updates due to OEMs and carriers dicking about with the software. But I like hanging about on XDA because it's the first place I'll hear about OTA's and the first place I'll hear about something which will make me re-think my "can't be bothered with custom ROM's" stance.
Boohoo it'll come when it comes. Just stay calm, relax, and enjoy the beauty of the phone.

why do u guys think google is just sitting on its ass and not developing. id rather have something finished than something half baked.
4.0 is a drastic new os, it takes time to develop these things.
What Google needs to do for the Nexus lineup is what they do with Google Chrome, they should have a Stable channel a Beta channel and a developer channel that you can pick from for your updates.
These threads are getting annoying. You bothered to make an account on XDA and you bought a Nexus device, ROOT IT.
Also, Google isn't obligated to give you anything but the latest Official version of Android via source, they don't have to give you an OTA and before you go on and say "the nexus program is all about being first" ITS NOT. Its about establishing a standard for manufacturers and developers to build upon not for some end user to ***** and complain about a small revision change that he doesn't have.
You have Android 4.0
No other phone has Android 4.0
SO SHUT UP AND BE HAPPY

I liked the page. I cant believe Google have abandoned their original Nexus, which is still a top end phone even today.
Plus ive noticed on my tegra4 tab that Chrome is stuttery when scrolling but its smooth on my GOOGLE Nexus. Are Google optimizing software to run better on their products?

youve been on xda for a year and you still dont know how it works ? cmon man
I've tried the two 4.4 roms in the Development forum. There is still some graphic glitches, but i'm with "A taste of KitKat" since yesterday, had 1 random reboot, deep sleep is amazing, etc. And it's like 48h since the Nexus5 is on sale ! Imagine in 1 week what we will have !
I doubt a petition is going to do anything. Google has made up their mind.
Thread closed. A while ago, Google made a set of guidelines for other manufacturers that included 18 months support - I do not remember the full details of this alliance but if you Google it you should be able to find all the details. Galaxy Nexus has had 18 months support so Google have decided to stop supporting it... sure it sucks for you guys but that's what businesses do to make profits.

Droid is Back! I need ideas and testers!

Hey guys! I am glad to say that I am making my return to android development! I've been spending a lot of time on my studies throughout the year and now it's time to jump right back into what i love doing the most. I know there must have been a lot that has happened since I left. More updates, patches, and such. I want to get back into the daily development for you guys but I need your help! Let me know what i've missed and what you would like to see in a ROM. Unfortunately I sold my Note 2 a while back to upgrade to the Note 3. While it is a better phone, I have not enjoyed developing for it because of the locked bootloader. That holds back a lot of potential and fun (lol). So I will need testers. I am a reputable developer with over 600 thanks. I have developed for the Note 2 before and got great feedback from this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419768
I also have much faster internet speeds now and can upload twice as fast as I used to. So this means more updates and releases! The only downside to my development is that I can't source build. I do not have linux anymore.
Please let me know suggestions for ROMs and who will be on board to help test and give me feedback.
Thanks!
