[Q] For the brave developers. Assure view without spen - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I love GMD spen gesture controlling app.
Samsung has made things in these phones that the finger touch will not work when spen is on screen. It's pretty much super and useful. But, I saw GMD gesture controlling app working while I'm writing in the screen with spen. It's an error. But here I'm not asking you to fix it. I appreciate it, because you could do it with your app. Now what I need is that, air view feature without spen. The Note series models (NOTE2, 10.1,8) uses the same features that xperia sola or today's release, s4 for the air view. So I think that Samsung had restricted finger air view feature for the promotion of spen, same as restricting finger touch while s pen in use. Since GMD gesture controlling app could remove the restriction of finger touch while spen in use, I hope that you could do this too(air view without spen). so I request you to try it. So can you?

I guess bumping up the touch sensitivity could do it.
But there are two problems:
1. I don't know if the sensitivity on our device can go that high.
2. There is no supported software. You won't get previews as the software on the Note 2 is build for Air View by the S Pen, and would not recognize Air View with a finger.

But, s4 has same technology..

But, s4 and note 2 shows same software features in air view. S4 is by hand and note2 by s pen. Also, the technology is same. What I guess is that Samsung would make it happen in next update. But I wish to get it early. The update will take2 months or so long. They will need s4 to click the ground.

Take a look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190830
Edit: Most of the features announced for the S4 will not come to previous devices like Note I & II and the S3. Not officially anyway, because that would harm S4 sales.
So...don't count on official airview on the Note 2, ever.
Maybe Note 3!

But the software wouldn't know what to do with the finger hovering, devs will need to rewrite parts (if possible, I'm not sure) so the app would pop the text/image/anything else.

Always, the profit is for Samsung

No it's not the truth. If companies fear such type of sale affection, apple wouldn't have provided the iOS6 update for previous iPhone models. The note 2 released with unique multi window feature and see currently the previous released s3 and note 1 got it. Also, if Samsung fears the affection for their super phone, then they wouldn't have released the galaxy grand. We should think things in the other way, if the update bring same features of s4 to note 2, n2 is going to be the best with unique spen features. It may affect the sales of s4, but it never affect the profit if Samsung. Whatever the model is, phone is of Samsung's.

Any source and note 2 features like air view came to note 1 and s3 also then why we will not get s4 features?? Maybe we will get it after some months or so...

The S3 does not have air view.
@OP
Note 2 is bigger and has double the RAM of the S3. Plus the S- Pen.
So they have no fear to also boost S3 a bit as well.
But the S3 and S4 do not have many differences in hardware with each other so Samsung has to make them a bit different also software wise as well as hardware wise because the hardware is not improved enough for an S3 owner to make the jump.
This is my thinking.

But Samsung released galaxy grand at lower price specs same as s3. for Samsung, all those are not a problem. If they consider so, then they wouldn't have released the updated touchwiz upgrade for note1. Note 1 and note2 look pretty similar.

Ya because it did not have stylus spen.if u try note stylus it will have that..I think lets stop this ..it will be great if samsung provide us the update all will be happy

Samsung will release an update by the end of may that is after two months of s4 launch.

i think it is possible on the s4 beacause it has a more sensitive touch(u can use it with gloves)... and that is a hardware feature, so it is not likely that our note 2 will have it ever...

Can anybody help me to get this feature? I want to open popup note without using s pen's done tap. What I mean is a way to add shortcut in home screen

It wont be long and my upgrade be here. So I was wondering if I should get this or the s3. I like this one and the fact that is a quad-core and samsung have the same build hardware on all of the note 2. But I also like all the gestures features from the s3

I know I went to see the phone at the store it huge! I didnt know it have all the gestures features like the s3 because they were never announced. Like automatic calling somebody from text by just put your phone in the ear, Smartview. Screenshot by swiping your hand on the screen, etc etc. Those features really caught my eye. but wasnt sure if the note 2 have them. I guess I'll go with the note 2. Thanks guys

Ill tell you what. after using it my s3 feels tiny . almost iphone 4 tiny ........ Btw get the note Trust me i have both
I hate to stir the pot, and I know that it hasnt been talked about yet, but if your upgrade is not here yet and u have some time to wait I would wait for the Galaxy S 4. Now wait! Let me explain! I am currently the very proud owner of the Note 2 with T mobile. This is the best phone on the market, with all of the great Hardware with excellent software to match. I mean the innovation and true attention to detail is unmatched. But I have read some rumors, yeah rumors, that the S4 will be a beast also in a smaller form. I love the huge screen of the Note 2, but you are trying to choose between the Note 2 and S3 so I take that to mean that you are on the fence and the extra screen size really isn't that important. Maybe the power is what u are seeking. Word on the street is that the S4 will bring in new tech, edge to edge screen, quad core, 1080p screen, 2gb ram, new software features, and new design. These things are not outside of the realm of reality and as we can all see Samsung is on a roll. I think this year they found their groove, and they can only get better from here. They are suppossed to announce this sometime end of January and into February. I say all this to say, if u are thinking Note 2 vs. S3. Don't do it as the S3 is so last year. The note 2 is basically the precursor to what we can expect for 2013. Think more like Note 2 vs. S4
Written from my Beast T Mobile Note 2
Also not that its much different but the S3 will NOT be getting LTE on tmobile from what I've heard and the Note will get LTE. Now as far as the Nexus 4, the biggest issue is that it's made by LG Booooo!
Sold my s3 for this phone. No regrets.
From the Best: Note 2
Yeah that is a dissapointed for me too Nexus 4 from LG gosh. I had the G2X and LG support sucks. Really guys I am a little nervous I have the S2 but it have a lot of problems with the noise reduction where other people hears an echo. And if you flash aosp rom or miui they say you sound like underwater and there is not a fix really. I really like how samsung did with their TW but I dont want another samsung and is going to have the same problem as my s2 with call quality. But The s3 and the note2 are really good phones!! The S4 announced in Jan or Feb? The s2 and s3 were announced late of year. I think its too soon for them to release the S4 and by the time i think it will I will have another upgrade lol. The big screen doesnt bother me. When I got my S2 it was big and at first it was wow. But then if I play with another phone like the Amaze It feels weird because of all the small icons. lol

The Note 2 is a different level then the S3, has all the same features and more, and has a much better processor then the S3. It's just about whether the screen size is too big for you.
And I wouldn't worry about waiting for the S4 or Note 3. The S4 might be announced at MWC but I don't think that will happen so soon and the Note won't have a sequel till at least Oct-Nov of next year. Then it'll take at least 2-4 months before the first US carriers get them. So the Note 2 will be king of the hill for quite some time, barring HTC's Dlx when it comes out.
noted for future reference on my Note 2
Either you have been living under a rock, or... who knows. This video will answer your questions, and pretty much make up your mind for you. It's long, but thorough.
Colfustion's Review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2
And to the bloke who recommended waiting for the S 4... just stop. Recommending non existent hardware just makes you sound silly. It will have a processor similar to the Note 2, a smaller screen, no S-Pen... etc. Not a very good comparison.
I've got both.. and honestly can't make a decision - have to sell one - need the cash.
GOing back to the S3 from the Note, it feels positively TINY...
but, the Note really does feel big; and I've got pretty big hands... whether its too big or not, I guess its partly personal choice and partly ease of use - I don't think I can honestly say that the Note 2 is always easy to operate with a single hand -
Also, to be honest, the alternate rom scene, at least for the T-Mobile Note 2, is pretty limited - I'm not sure if there'll be any "original" android development for it as I guess to make use of the S-pen etc, a vanilla android rom just wouldn't have the features (I'm only guessing here). Most of the rom development would be those "de-bloated/de-odexed/zip aligned" versions of stock TouchWiz rom which claim to mysteriously give longer battery life. I'm currently on the Jedi Rom on my Note 2 and not really sure how different it is to the stock rom.
On my S3, I've got Task's Rom, and it truly made a huge difference to the battery life - to the point I'm comfortable returning to the standard Samsung battery form the extended Hyperion 4200 mAH one I had bough due to the horrible battery life the S3 has (on cellular internet) when on the stock rom - with Task's rom, there is a marked, appreciable improvement in battery life.
Right, coming back, I still can't figure out which one to keep and which one to sell - I'm pretty sure, whichever decision I take, I'll regret it cos both the S3 and Note 2 are really and truly excellent products!!!.

The phone has been out for less than a month in the US. I think the ROMs will come, in time. Plus, the battery in the Note 2 is amazing... ever try running the battery down to 5% on purpose? It's actually harder than I thought it would be! That's the beauty of the Note 2; the battery is big enough, by itself, that minimal changes are needed to constantly see 24+ hours on one charge. I have had both the S3 and now the Note 2, and I would never recommend an S3 over the Note. The S-Pen alone is > any wizbang S3 thing out there!

I wasn't making a point about the Note's battery life - it really is pretty good - what I waas trying to say was, the S3 alternate ROM scene is very vibrant; the particular ROM I've got currently make a noticeable diff. in battery life; based on my guess work I'm not very sure if the same would happen for the Note.
Seems like all of the Note 2 series including the international one are the same hardware. Why not make it a worldwide phone with a universal radio. or Like on my Sensation? I may be wrong but in any case do like the tmobile version of the s2 and the skyrocket which are very similar phones

The note 2 can do anything the S3 can but better.. and bigger.. and with a stylus

cm10 vs Touchwiz. Loss of features.

Cm10 is my favorite rom on the market and I feel its the fastest and smoothest thing you can get as well as adding some very functional features. With any other phone, I would without a doubt be doing everything in my power to install cm10. The note is in a different category however. The note 2 has added functionality in its touchwiz rom that allows for running multiple applications on the screen at the same tine, as well as s pen features such as taking a screen shot and then drawing right onto it.
For those of you that have installed cm10 or other non touchwiz rom, do you miss any of the touchwiz features?
Of course they do.........
but everyone is different the features that they miss still may not be enough to drop CM10 its light and fast and def has its advantages......
i personally on the note will only use TW based roms, i like the features added in it this time around.
I am curious about this. 4.2 has new features I'm excited about, so I'm curious how CM10.1 will turn out. I know the nightly is still fairly new, but I'd like to hear what people say about it, and I'm especially curious if it's possible to port (I'm not sure if I'm using the right term) over that Samsung's TouchWiz has, such as S Note and the ability to trigger it to open when the S Pen is removed.
I can never go back to a touchwiz ROM. I never use the s pen, never use multi window, and I despise the capacitive buttons since my palm always triggers them in landscape. The customizable navbar and spell check are my main reasons for using cm10

There's the Droid DNA, the Spectrum II, the Optimus, even the Nexus 4 and S3. These are all 4.7+ high-resolution (720p or FullHD) devices that I consider competition with the Note II. The main draw and defining feature of the Note II is the S-Pen. If it wasn't for the S-Pen combined with the 5.5" display and Touchwiz software, I probably would not have considered it.

5.5 inch screen and the quad Samsung processors and very nice screen is some very good reasons to go to note 2 versus any of the other phones even if you don't use spen.

Nobody was telling anybody how they should like their phone. I was simply wondering why somebody would buy the Note II and not use (or even be interested in) it's defining feature.
To me, that's like buying a convertible and never putting the top down, or buying a Boss 302 Mustang and not tracking it. Just doesn't make sense to me.

I agree. The S-pen comes in handy for certain things, especially notes, but I don't use it as much as I thought I would.
I had a Treo 750 (came with a stylus) some years ago, the beginning of smartphones. Just having the stylus made things easier. The stylus didn't make the phone it just complemented it IMO. Same with this one only its way advanced and almost part of the phone, again a great thing but not necessary.
I would like to see some type of CM10/TW Hybrid or something that will keep the "cool" features of TW and the S-pen. Maybe someday lol
The DROID dna has some nice hardware but the lack of an sd card slot is a huge turnoff for me. With games coming out being 2+gb its totally unacceptable to be stuck with only 16gb of storage. This also kills the nexus 4 for me. The spectrum 2 SoC sports a weaker gpu and has a smaller screen so that's no competition in my eyes. The Optimus G is competition and S4 with the Adreno 320 gpu seems to edge out the notes 2's SoC but I'm in favor the 5.5 screen and have not had the the best experience with LG phones. The note 2's battery life beats the Optimus G and the Note 2 takes better video if you care about that sort of thing. As far as pictures are concerned the LG has a higher mp rear camera but it doesn't seem to produce better quality images and the front facing camera on the LG is a lower mp camera. The Spen is a nice feature but I like having CM 10/ASOP so that I can have pdroid. If your not familiar with pdroid look it up as it is a great app.
I chose the Note II over the S III for the S-Pen. And, at the time, the multi-view. I want the big screen and big battery and the best performance. But I also want the TouchWiz features. Smart stay, smart alert, pop up play, multi-view, S beam, AllShare Cast, none of that will work on CM10, or AOKP (at least not at the performance TouchWiz will give). I wanted the best Android hardware, and (IMO) the best Android software. If I wanted AOKP more than I wanted TouchWiz I would have a nexus 4, or Galaxy nexus. After the One X I don't plan on buying another HTC device, and the Thrill turned me off LG. Samsung is the only Android OEM I trust for solid hardware and software support after the device ships.
I use the S-Pen just about every time I use my device. I thought after a while the novelty would wear off and I would stop using it. But, I find I enjoy it quite a bit. The only reason I rooted and flashed another ROM was to get multi view. As an added benefit I get to keep all the TouchWiz features I use constantly, and I get to resolve my only two complaints with TouchWiz: more icons on the stock launcher (and keep page buddy), and to choose and re-order the Notification toggles. I can think of many reasons to stay on TouchWiz, but I can't think of a single reason to go on an AOSP based ROM. For me, I don't plan on even trying CM10 or AOKP on this device, even though I couldn't stand running anything else on my One X or S II.
Sent from my Note ][
Ironically for me, I bought the Note 2 for the screen and hardware. I knew spen, multi window, and some other features for me would be gimmicks. The ironic part is, that although I rarely use them, for some reason that is why I'm staying on Tw instead of CM10. I rarely use the spen, but I love having those options. I just don't really see how the spen makes anything easier or more efficient. That being said, I love that stupid thing anyway. I considered Nexus 4 but liked removable battery and bigger screen much better.

now a days, people need someone to tell them how to wipe their own arses, so, its not surprising when ridiculous questions like this get asked all over this site...
What makes it ever worse, is the fact they don't even post them in the correct (Q&A) section...

I think raduque has a bit of a point. Some people, such as myself, like some of the features TW has associated with the S Pen. Some can care less, as many have you stated. For you guys who don't care about the S Pen features, CM10 the way it is now might work out for you. For those of us who do want some of the S Pen features, hopefully it's something as simple as copying some of the APKs containing those features and porting them over. (I wouldn't know the process yet. I haven't even rooted my phone as of yet.) I can personally care less about the TW launcher, itself, since I use and really like Go Launcher EX, but that said, I'd still like to be able to use the S Pen features, like S Notes, Air View, etc.
But then there's features that I'm not sure whether or not comes from TW that I like, such as Quick Glance, Direct Call, Smart Alert, Turn Over to Mute/Pause, Palm Swiping to Screenshot, Palm Touch to Mute/Pause, etc...

All these features are built into the core Touchwiz UX. They could be put in AOSP/AOKP, but so far nobody seems to be interested in coding in those features.
I use most of those features daily, and I'm always scribbling something down in Snote.
Not to mention I find the default Google-stock Android theme to be flat and boring.

do our phones have the tech for smart scroll?

being that we already have SMART STAY feature, do you think they will roll out smart scroll in an update?

Hopefully!
I have a G Note II with rogers in Canada (i317M) and would LOVE this feature.
i did read that the thing preventing it was not hardware but software, so if the sgs 4 runs on the same os as us im sure someone can find a way to port one over
it uses the front camera so yes it does but if samsung doesnt update our phone to include that feature than we will need to wait for a galaxy s4 rom port
Since that is one of the features being touted for IV don't expect that update soon.
Carbon 1.5 | Kroz Hue Brown Theme | Crack Flasher
But as soon as the s4 comes out, don't expect to wait long for it to be included in GNII custom roms

Saw this @ sammobile showing a leaked screen caps of those functions for Galaxy S III ROM, and I'm sure soon will be in Note II's ROM.
"leaked" "galaxy s iv" screen shots http://tmonews.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/samsunggalaxys4.jpg
The screeenshots seen on the inter-webs of this feature has been said to of been taken from a GS3, so this feature is already being tested on current gen devices, so I believe the G Note 2 will definitely be getting this feature, it's just a matter of when.
Yes, even if the GS4 is released, followed by the GS3 update it'll only be a matter of weeks max before it is ported or leaked or just flat out made to work on the GN2 by the powers that be lol.
Samsung has actually been pretty good about updating features on older phones. The GS3 got the smart tilt function the note 2 had. Also, the original note got a bunch of new features with the ICS update that included one hand mods to the keyboard and keypad. They may take a while to get out, but they sure do update features a lot more than other manufactures. I'm guessing that not long after they announce the GS IV they will push updates to the note 2 and GS3 with similar features.
Our phones can do smart scroll. In fact, Samsung worked mainly with the S3 and Note 2 before finalizing the feature on the S4. In a not so distant future, we all will get a firmware update enclosing this welcomed-surprise. However, I will probably keep this feature disabled; "Big Brother Is Watching You." Just Kidding.
I don't see why not.Basically combining the s pen scroll with smart stay.

any update on getting the GS4 air view/smart scroll feature on GN2?

Re: Off-topic other device and upgrading phone discussion
I'll go first. Staying with my note 2. Not giving up my stylus just yet. No other phone has impressed me enough to give up my GN2 just yet.
According to the commercials "The Next Big Thing is Already Here"....and I have it =D. I am totally content with my phone. I use the stylus daily, it is beyond convenient and productive. Contrary to what I suspected prior to buying my GN2, the size is just right for me. I have small hands but I do just fine with it; albeit I do get the occassional hand cramp from holding it; but that's because I rarely put it down I've been totally spoiled by the size, and couldn't imagine having a smaller screen. I was putting games on my Captivate for my lil one to play on, and I giggled...how did I live with that tiny screen. On the flip side I also couldn't imagine going any bigger, with that said I plan on keeping my Note 2 for a long time.
Im trying to decide between the S4 and the Note 3 whenever it comes out. I do love the larger screen size of the Note 2.
Re: Off-topic other device and upgrading phone discussion
I don't think I can ever go back to a smaller screen, so I'll most likely be getting the note 3.

After you own a note 2,every other device looks so tiny. I'll just wait for the note 3.
Edit: WOW this thread is a sticky now,I think a sticky should be informative not a conversation.
Edit 2: no pun intended.

Glad this thread is here. When I had my One X, every other thread was a comparison thread. Just mucked up the forums honestly.
Good idea Mod!

The HTC One has my attention, but I'm just not sure that I'm willing to part with my GN2 yet. The only thing that hacks me off about Samsung is their insistence on the cheap plastic finish.
The fit and finish of the HTC One may lure me in...I'll decide when I see it in person.
I would never go to another phone, so either way I will wait for note3 or if something bad happens to me phone I will just buy a new note2.

well hopefully the rumour about the note 3 having a LCD screen is false I rather have the AMOLED screen even if the reason for the LCD screen is better use of the S-pen.

Exactly, I love my Note 2 a lot, finally feel like I have a phone that is great and has what I want.
Just finished watching the first episode of the S IV launch event the new features seems really cool for it, but just as you said will wait to see what they do to the Note 3.
I think I'm sold on the S4, although I do love my Note 2. But... will a lot of the S4 features, software wise, is just a part of an updated OS or apps that we can use on the Note 2? That could potentially keep me here. But then again the 13mpx camera and 441dpi is very tempting.

well most of the features that are on the s4 will be coming to the note 2 so the rumor goes with the 4.22 update but we will probably get the update when the note 3 comes out and it will have all those features and then some.

I don't understand the "I hate the plastic' on the Samsung phone...
I ride a Triumph motorcycle that will do 150mph+ and it has a plastic body covering an awesome engine and frame and even better electronics ... JUST like my Samsung note 2 (or future galaxy 4)

Not in a million years. The S4 looks OK, but is in no way a replacement for the Note 2.
1 - I will never use any of those "features" on the S4. Like MKBHD mentioned on his S4 video, and I agree, the new features are attractive to people who are not very phone-literate. If you want to use different apps other than the standard ones, you'll lose them anyway, like the smart pause. I don't see myself using any of the new features they announced.
2 - The battery life is virtually guaranteed to suck when compared to the Note 2. If it's anything like the S3, which I owned and gladly sold within 2 months, there won't be ROMs or kernels good enough to make the battery last anywhere close to the Note 2. Unless you need the absolutely fastest phone in the world, you don't need an S4. The processor is gonna run your battery to the ground with very little use, I'm sure.
3 - Having been a completely satisfied Note 2 owner for about 3 months, I think the S4 is too small! Well, anything else is too small for that matter.
4 - No S-Pen = FAIL. The S-Pen is one of the highlights of the Note 2 and I now expect all phones to have it (OK, that's unrealistic, but it would be really nice!).
As many users here said, I don't think I'll ever buy anything other than Notes from now on. I'll wait for the Note 3 or 4 depending on how excited I get when they come out.
Re: Off-topic other device and upgrading phone discussion
Main reason am gonna stick to Note2 is for Exynos processor.
I have used International version of S2 which had dual core exynos processor than S2lte with snapdragon and it sucked.
Then comes the North American S3 (big update in snapdragon processer), but still was behind in smoothness comparing international version of S3 having exynos quadcore porcesser.
And comes the beast Note2 with exynos processor and 2gb Ram as addon, nothing can beat smoothness of this phone.
Snapdragon qualcomm processer has got better, but for me are still behind in smoothness comparing to exynos.
Hoping Note3 to come with exynos like of Note2, orelse I will have to go with international version at cost of no LTE.

tab s 10.5 vs note pro vs 12.2 vs butche note 4

I have a note 4 thats messed up. I use it as a tablet.
Should i: exchange it for a Verizon Note Pro, exchange it for a Tab s 32gb wifi, or keeping the note 4.
On my note 4 i use it to draw [sketchbookx + spen], youtube 1080p +, videos of my memory card [720p or less Quality], music, and a lot of browsing.
Of note i use the multi window feature alot, running several things at once. I also like how they minimize to a bubble if u need to get it out of ur way but dont want to closw it.
Note 12.2:
PROS: spen. Bigger canvas. possible update to note 4 muliti window
Cons: not a samoled screen, maybe outdate by now?, older Snapdragon chip, older software
Tab S wifi:
Pros: samoled screen
Cons: not a note device. Exynos chip. ill miss my muliwindow.
Any help?
Heres whats wrong with my note:

I would say, you should buy a Tab S, because you can also buy a pen for this tablet. Well it is not that great as the one is for the NotePro, but at least you can also use it like a pen.
Multiwindow feature has been ported to the Tab S, also the NotePro keyboard, so no problem with this things, maybe have a look here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/prerooted-stock-touchwiz-rom-t2973107

Why do you prefer the Tab S? Just because of the screen?
Can you give me some info on the pen fof the Tab S? The pen's quality is much more important to be than having a samoled over Lcd. I really dont mind an LCD screen, ive had an ipad before.
I would prefer a Tab S. I may be a little bias because I haven't owned the note one. However the only thing the note has over the Tab S is the S pen. (Please correct me if im wrong) Which has no use to me. So if you really rely on and would like the s pen then for that reason alone I'd imagine the note would be the smarter choice.
Unless your able to somehow use the S Pen on the Tab S. I don't think so but it's weird because when I was freezing apps to debloat I came across a file or two for the S Pen. No idea why.
But what does the Tab S have over the Note Pro 12.2?
Ive seen how nice the screen is on the Tab S. I havent seen the notes pro's screen but i have used a ipad air. So im ok with a LCD screen. The note has the same resolution as the Tab S just a slighyly lower ppi.
So the Screen being "better" isnt enough of a reason to me
Lets say both are the LTE models from Verizon, what does the Tab S do better?

I'm assuming you're talking about the Note Pro 12.2" right? Well, the Tab S is thinnner and lighter than Note Pro, and just overall nicer to hold in the hands. I used both side by site at the official Samsung store and the decision was pretty easy.
I don't know how youy can say screen quality isn't important. The difference between AMOLED vs. LCD in Note Pro is night and day. This was one of the deciding factors for my buying a Tab S instead of the Nexus 9.
Unless you REALLY need the S-pen functionality, the Tab S is the superior tablet. I owned a Note 2 and only removed the S-pen from its silo exactly 3 times (1. to make sure it was there when I bought it; 2. to make sure it worked with Evernote; 3. to show it off to a friend).

I do actually use the spen a lot. Think ill try to get the tablets next to each other to see if the screen rly makes that big of a difference.
