Sync-Manager problem while reinstalling - HTC One X

Dear friends,
long time ago you were so kind to help me with my HTC HD2.
Now I have a problem with my HTC One X on my WinXP-Computer.
After buying, I've downloaded the Sync-Manager and installed it.
That time it worked perfect.
After noticing this program just works with USB-connection, I installed "MyPhoneExplorer" for sync my Smartphone with Wifi and deinstalled the Sync-Manager.
Now I lost the Drives what appears in the Windoes-Explorer to transfer Data from and to my One X.
Each time I connect my One X, a error appears "USB-Decive is not recogniced"
So I tried to reinstall the Sync-Manager in V 2.0.41.0_htc.
Before starting the install-process, I deactivated my antivir-program.
While running the Setup in some DOS-Boxes appeared in fast order while perform to install the drivers, as the Sync-Manager-Setup title says.
The last of the DOS-boxes says "Path not found" before closing itself.
Unfortunately my One X wont accepted, if I connect this device with USB after installing process was finished and shows the error "USB-Device is not recogniced".
The Device-Manager says "unknown device" in the section "USB-Controllers".
If I open the settings of the unknown device (what just appears, if my One X is connected), it says driver from Microsoft in V 5.1.2600.0 from 07/01/2001 are installed for this device with the devicecode "USB\VID_0000&PID_000\5&C0AA250&0&4"
If I press "update" - "not jet" - "Install from list" - and choose the folder "C:\Programs\HTC\HTC-Drivers\XP_x86" the system says "no drivers found" - the named devicecode is not existing in the Inf-Filed in this folders (the listes devices starts with "USB\VID_0BB4...").
Then I tried to:
deinstalling the Sync-manager again,
deinstalling the unknown device from device-mamager
deleting all HTC entries from the registry,
rebooting the computer
and tried again to install the Sync-Manager - same result - DOS-Boxes cames up and "says folder not found" - thinking this is the problem for unworking drivers.
What I can do to get my drive letters from the One X back in the Win-Explorer?
Can anybody help, please?
Syncing with MyPhone-Explorer works fine, but for some cases it is much more better to have drive-letters for the sd-card and the device-mem.
If I forgot to give some importent informations to solve the problem, please feel free to ask for them
kind regards
Veronika

Uh, I am so stupid...
Excuse me please.
The problem was the USB-cable, I have used.
When trying connection with the origin white HTC-cable my One X was recogniced.
Never known, USB-cables are different.
Now my device have the code starts with "USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0DFB&..." and is shown in the Sync-Manager.
But there is just a new drive-letter "G" (CD-Rom) what says "insert CD" in my win Explorer.
No drive with the SD of the One X is visible ;-(

HTC sync won't run

Started a new thread rather than reactivate an old one (sorry if this is poor behaviour)
The new version of HTC sync (...33) appears to install fine on my PC (WinXP SP3) but will not run. I get a message that the application launcher is not properly configured.
I have followed ALL the instructions regarding uninstalling old versions, turning off firewall and AV protection etc to no avail. Now getting the same message if I try to reinstall the old version - which previously worked fine.
HTC support were no help whatsoever so a further appeal to the generous folk on this forum for help?
PLEASE don't tell me to uninstall and reinstall or turn off my firewall and AV or go back to the old version - see above - but any other suggestions gratefully received!
Similiar Issue with HTC Sync 2.0.33
I experience a similar issue today.
I create an new appointment on the Desire with the "Calendar" set to "My Calendar", connect with PC, it sync fine but the newly created appointment does not show up in Outlook.
So I delete the appointment in Desire and recreate the same appointment with "Calendar" set to "PC Sync". HTC Sync did not pick up the change automatically, try "Sync now" and it gives error saying cannot sync.
Discount the USB cable and try again, still say it cannot sync.
Power cycle the Desire and connect to PC again, HTC Sync takes a minute or so and report "Unable to find HTC Sync on the PC"
Suspect some bug in the HTC Sync software.
Any comments/ suggestion?
Rather a different problem I think
Any solution?
I have the same problem with HTC Sync application. I uninstalled it several times and tried different versions but still not working.
It actually was working without any problem, but after changing my desire Z ROM to a new one, the problem started on my PC !!!
Even before connecting my phone to the PC, the HTC Sync application cannot start. It flashes an error message very fast that I cannot read what it says and there's no log file to check this error offline.
Can someone help please?
Same problem here
Hi,
i tried to install several versions; but on win7 64 with no luck. Latest version 3.05551, still the same. Flashes some message, so quick that is impossible make screen, and is gone.
Still the same and it desnt matter if im logged as admin or common user...
BUT - when i try start synchronization from trayicon with phone connected - it appeares that sync is working; but nothing is set to tynchronize.
Now i got idea. Ill try make video of that flashing message with phone, mayby we find some clue...

HTC Sync "unable to load configuration"

Sorry to be asking this if it's already been asked before, didn't find the question here.
Installed the 2.0.35 version of the HTC Sync application on my WinXP SP3 machine. Whenever I plug in my Evo I get the prompt to select what type of connection:
--IF I choose mount as external drive, I get the SD card showing up on my PC
--IF I choose Sync, the Evo churns and then says "Next Steps" with a huge explanation that frankly was a waste of everyone's time and the simple, "You're hosed, we have no clue why you're connecting" would have been more helpful
--IF I try to run HTC Sync from my desktop, I get a message "Unable to load configuration"
I have no clue what is going on but it's very strange.
Any and all help would be most appreciated.
Same HTC Sync problem 0 Unable to Load Configuration at startup
I have the same problem.
Once logged in to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 the HTC Sync application loads but only results in a pop-up windows prompt displaying no text, only an OK button.
I have tried the software stored on the memory stick of the new handset as well as from the HTC site (latest version after uninstalling the old version).
I desperately need help with this problem, anyone?

[Q] Disabling HTC Sync Manager from auto-start when phone plugged in

This may be stupid, but couldn't find any cure...As title says - anyone knows how to disable the thing from auto-starting when I plug in my One X into the PC? Thanks
Do you use it HTC Sync Manager or did you install it just because of the drivers? If only because of the drivers, uninstall the whole thing and leave the drivers installed. Here's only the drivers if someone needs them: http://www.mediafire.com/?fye0ryom9wuyvrm (someone posted this on another thread, I take no credit).
If you do use HTC Sync Manager, one quick and easy way I found was to disable the HTCMonitorService.
Thanks for the input.
It is uninstalled and I don't use it. The thing is that the moment I plug in my phone, either of these happens:
- The setup of the Sync Manager starts automatically (if not installed), so I have to cancel it manually every time;
- The Sync manager itself launches (if installed).
There's no windows service or entry in the registry, nothing. It's obviously in the phone itself as an image, as the installation appears in my PC as a virtual drive the moment I plug in my phone.
I'm using JB.
You can try the auto-run settings in windows, or if you feel brave about it (and if rooted or maybe not, since i didnt try this) remove the htc stuff from your phone
Auto-run settings seems to be ignored, phone not rooted yet, but I was hoping to resolve this on Windows level...

I changed the auto-run settings and i dont get any messages anymore
Also did it but setting is ignored for some reason. Will try again, thanks. Now at least I know this *should* normally work
The autorun settings is one way to solve the problem but you'll still see a "cd drive" in Explorer when the phone is connected and I, for one, don't like that. If you want to "fix" that, connect your phone to the PC and press "Windows Key + Pause/Break", open "Device Manager" and under "DVD/CD-ROM drives" disable the one relevant to the phone.
You'll still be able to browse the files in the phone within Explorer, it's just the "cd drive" with HTC Sync Manager installation that won't appear anymore.
But of course! Can't believe I didn't think of that, thanks man! :good:
try disabling "HTCMonitorService" thru Computer Management>>Services and Applications>> Services

Worked like a charm, thanks @samhill22
You can also do what I do, go into your phone settings, apps, all, then scroll down to you see HTC Sync Manager and disable that. That'll prevent the installer from running on any computer. I havent seen any problems with my phone by doing this either, I still auto sync to drive and cloud services, all sync's work on my phone still like weather and account, and syncing music to say SongBird still works.

[Q] USB drivers, HTC Sync, data transfer - Can't access phone storage through Windows

Hey gang!
(I tried searching this forum for my issue, but the search form keeps giving me errors like "An error occurred while performing a Searchlight query:
connection to 10.0.100.17:9312 failed (errno=111, msg=Connection refused)." So, sorry if there's a thread about this already :S)
I'm trying to access my M8's storage through Windows Explorer via USB. Been using a OneX until now, which lets me do that just fine. But the M8 just gives me an MTP connection when I plug in the cable, which doesn't let me look at the data on it (the device shows up in Explorer, but when I open it, it just stays empty - no files or folders).
I've tried installing the latest USB drivers from this thread but the setup just won't start. It briefly pops up in task manager, but nothing happens. Turned off UAC, anti virus and what-have-you. When I try an older version of the drivers, Windows tells me they're already installed.
Then I just went with HTC Sync. Installed it, hooked up the phone, it starts fine. But I can only access the Home, Gallery and Music tabs. The Files tab is greyed out, which I think is curious.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks!
Did you entert your PIN on your Lockscreen before you checked the explorer, else the device is shown empty ?!

[Q] Bricked 816 cuz I changed BUSY box installation location

I had a unlocked rooted S-ON A5_dwg hTC desire 816
It had installed busy box app installed on its own when it got rooted,
When i opened the busy box app, there I had an option to install the app in some particular location there.
But due to some error that wasn't getting installed in that path, it suggested me to try in a different path or system directory,
I selected another location from the drop down menu in that busy box app. then tried installing, but it still didn't, but some error occurred and the installation got aborted.
From that time onwards, I wasn't able to install any app from Google play store, it showed some error in installing the app.
Then i tried switching on radio, but the radio app wasn't switching on. and then i tried to power off the phone to restart, but now
1.) The home screen, apps arre gone,
2) Not recognising sim cards,
3.) The phone is bricked,
4.) It is not getting detected on computer although the usb is detects.
I took it to service centre guy at Jayanagar, Bangalore, that guy says, nothing can't be done since the phone is rooted and the only means of fixing is to change the motherboard which costs 7k INR, which i cant afford. :crying::crying:
Please help me, am crying without any phone in hand. Please someone help me. :crying::crying::crying:
Thanks a ton in advance...!
