Check your ZL's display manufacturer - Sony Xperia ZL

LordManhattan said:
It would be interesting to see if Sony does indeed use two display manufacturers, so i'm making this thread so people can actually see this. I posted this in the "Clearing up.. blah" thread, but it'll be more effective having a stand alone thread for it.
Now, let's get down to business. You have to be rooted, install a terminal from the Play Store and type this into the terminal:
- su
- dmesg|grep -i panel
Look for "Found panel: mipi_video_********_Full_HD_******"
Some report that a reboot helps if you aren't getting a proper result.
This far we've gotten these results (from the Clearing up.. blahh thread)
JDC panel: 1
- Found panel: mipi_video_jdc_Full_HD_mdy70
Sharp panel: 2
- Found panel: mipi_video_sharp_Full_HD_ls050t3sx01_id_dlogo

You can also use this app: YourXPeriaZdisplay
Everybody who have ZL, so can you check it and tell us where did they come from?
Thanks for LordManhattan
/hope it will work with ZL

I think it'll be easier/better if i just edit my first post and add that app link, with credit of course. Or what do you think? It's easier to have one thread instead of two nearly identical ones
EDIT! Hey ho! This isn't the Xperia Z forum! Haha! Please proceed!

I know your thread in xZ but I wanna know what about xZL. Did SONY use 2-3 manufacturers for ZL's display?

That's totally fine by me. I thought this was the Z section It looks like Sony is using two displays; JDC and Sharp. That's on the Z at least, but i won't be surprised if they use the same panels on the ZL.

I preordered ZL so I wanna know more about display. I will say goodbye to SONY if I get a JDC display -,-
anyway, thanks for you method to test them

Hi guys. Write you from Italy.
Here's a big discussion about Xperia Z displays (JDC/Sharp) on major mobile forums, and users who got jdc displays are really disappointed and returning/selling away their phones due to the poor black level, and the mediocre view angle.
I'm interesting now, are just you sure that also ZL will mount different jdc/sharp displays or is it just a (plausible) supposition?
Cheers.

Here is my result on a C6503 :
[email protected]:/ # dmesg|grep -i panel|grep -i found
<6>[ 1.537830] mipi_dsi_panel mipi_dsi_panel.0: detect_panel: Found panel: Sharp LS050T3SX02 R63311 black

maybe SONY used SHARP for all ZL, don't know about 6506
plz vote after check and tell us where did you buy it from
thanks

I don't have root and i get the same result (u posted earlier) with XperiaZdisplay app (i.e Panel ID 1262-4791 & manufacturer = unknown). Now, that you've found yours to be sharp panel, would it be right to assume mine to be sharp as well (as it has same panel ID as yours)?
Does anyone here with ZL, having sharp panel (confirmed by root) have Panel ID other than mentioned above? Thanks in advance.
Btw, i've compared my ZL to my older Xperia S, many demo XZs (& one owned by a friend) and found the display to be better with regards to viewing angles & colour vibrance/contrast (not by much to friend's Z though).

would be cool if someone coded an app that allowed us to MAP the functions to certain keyboard keys
not particularily familiar with the layout you have here.
my personal preference:
X should be moved to S for the D-pad
L1 should be moved to @/~
R1 should be moved to Del/<x
action buttons should utilize I, J, K, O instead of I, J, ?, L
still a cool mod though!

You have ICS? I have it to and it says no such file or directory
I didn't install it. I was just asking for someone else who wants to install it on his device but with other mapping...
Yes, I was asking to the guy I quoted. I've almost completed a different keys layout, but I've just close it without saving changes because of the time... I hope I'll have five mins this evening to finish it. And an app isn't that simple to do... Believe me it's far simpler to change keys before flashing... I'll post how if someone doesn't know.
probably I'll upload it tomorrow
I've got the Game Gripper for the G2 and it's been mostly useless outside of emulators because there's been nothing like this before. I would definitely love to see some sort of interface to customize the keys so I can use that.

looked at the gamepad.kl file maybe its just me but the keymapping doesn't make any sense. Keymapping numbers are all over the place.
Here's mine version it should have the layout fixed as in the first page someone asked....

The update for the 2011 devices wiped all data.
This is usually the case for updates that upgrade the Android Version.
Database changes make the old data unusable in most case scenarios.

I'm UB but I also have the same problem. Does it work for me?
So we need partial root because thats all we Lb have on 4.3?
Great work again, monx! :good:
The Xposed was the only reason to keep my BL unlocked! Now it's time to relock with backed up original TA partition. Thanks!
xposed fan pls recommend/suggest any good module(s) that worth for our device. I will list them in OP. so far Gravity box is outstanding.
Graqvity Box - full moding of ROM! Navbar, statusbar, and many more cool things!
What are the differences with this installer and Rovo89's original? The original worked just fine, so I'm curious what is different here (other than making a recovery installer with the bridge included, of course).
Anyhoo, Gravitybox is great and is the best multi-module around although XBlast is pretty good too I like Wanam on my Sammy devices, but no joy on the Xperia.
The best module, IMO, is AppSettings and it is the main reason I root and run Xposed in the first place. Think basic Paranoid Android per-app DPI settings, but on any rooted device. I have Nova Launcher set at 420 and Gmail and touchdown at 370. The Z1's screen density allows for some really tiny text.
NFC Icon Remover doesn't work on our phones since it was made for HTC devices. If anyone knows how to get rid the icon, I'm all ears.
20MP Superior Auto - Forces the camera to use 20MP size for pictures instead of just 8MP.
Alternate App Picker - I always found it annoying that Google changed the app picker to make you press the app, then press 'always' or 'just once'. This puts it back how it was in ICS where you simply tap the app you want to use.
App Settings - Paranoid Android style app settings for controlling DPI per app.
Gravity Box - This just wonderful. It does a ton of stuff. Everyone should be using this.
Hide Stamina Mode Icon - That icon takes up valuable space in the notification bar. This removes it.
Music2SD - Lets Google Music store files on the external SD card.
XPrivacy - needed for those of us with tin foil hats.
XVolume30 - Adds additional steps to the media volume to fine tune the sound.
Xperia QuickSettings LongClick - Lets you jump right to the proper settings menu by long pressing any of the quick settings.
XPosed Recent Tasks - Shows a graphic RAM bar on screen in the recent window.
YouTube Ad Away - Gets rid of video ads in videos. Can also hide channel logos and video suggestions.

What are the differences with this installer and Rovo89's original? The original worked just fine, so I'm curious what is different here (other than making a recovery installer with the bridge included, of course).

Install in the normal way
type the test results
Not bad. Focus is very sharp, and on macro I just have to hold the trigger button until it focuses on the area and then release it. Not bad at all.

location?
CAN WE CHNGE THE STORAGE LOCATION TO SD CARD?
Interesting port ! Nice Job !
Tested on my Z1C working well , it give nice quality picture in 20mp and 15mp , picture looks sharper then usual , when zooming image ... will test in different environnement ...
For those how want to mute camera beep go to \res\raw\ and delete :
focus_complete.ogg
shutter.ogg
video_record.ogg
And perhaps others
Changing storage location cannot be change in app but probably can be fix with modding some xml in res/drawable or res/xml .. will try to decompile later
Working on Samsung Note 4

What do you mean? You won't tell us if it is the same as in CM12?
I'm on CM12 right now and I'd like to try this app but if it is the same one
I wouldn't bother downloading and sideloading it onto my device...
Working on Sony Xperia M too
Why does this app needs so many permissions? Very strange and not safe at all.
Works fine on Xperia Z Ultra C6833 with KK 4.4.4! Have better quality and nice focus...thanks men!
