Htc one sv - question - HTC One VX

Hi I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I bought the above phone and when I turn it on it seems to be some sort of development phone , and when I look at things like software information it says protected next to it. What I was wondering is will I be able to update this phone normally as and when software is available or will I have any sorts of problems or restrictions with it?
Thanks in advance.

Its possible it's been rooted and s-off, it's best to look in your app drawer and look for a app called "su" or turn off phone the hold vol down and power at the same time. You will go into boot loader, at the top if it say "s-off" then it's rooted and no way to do official updates but that's ok rooted /custom roms are better

Thanks for that , I had a look and it doesn't have super user but in the boot loader it is s - off.
It says locked at the top , do you know what that relates too?

Also do you know how to tell if its open to any network without a sim to try in it.
Thankyou

Yes it means it didnt go through HTC Dev Unlock,(phone is still factory unlocked) and you have engineer Hboot(s-off) also you are SUPERCID, either a stock rom got flashed and removed "SU" or it could be called "superuser" check if you have that

Well the previous owner never did HTC Unlock, cause it would say "relocked" if he did a relock on the phone

Definitely no super user or su
So I should be unlocked for any network .
Does it matter if the boot loader is locked?
When I look at things like software version or processor etc it says protected , do you know why?
Also are there any Roms for this phone already do you know.

no that is Sim Unlock, SUPERCID and S-off means you are region free from the phone(superCID), and you have Fastboot capabilites(s-OFF)
i dont know if there is Roms for your phone, best choice is to google SV or do a search in here, if there is no SU or Superuser app next check if you have a custom recovery if you do then it will be very simple for you to flash a rom on to your phone, if you dont then there is some steps you need to do before you can do so
--------------------------edit-------------------
this is throwing me off a little bit, there is no real forums for the One SV, and i only found one root method, to even have s-off with a locked bootloader is weird, you may actually have a Developer Phone,

Is custom recovery an app? If so I don't have it. Or will it be in settings somewhere?

Not a app Hmm i say for now boot into android and hang till dev comes in and see what he says bout it, but what you are describing and what im looking at this could be really a developers phone from HTC
i could be compeletely wrong on that but it seems it is, as there is no s-off for it not any i could find, and the fact your hboot is still "locekd"

Ok thanks for your help so far, will check back in a while.

actually go here and post your pic to let others know, if your phone is a dev this is a golden egg, dont follow the root instructions, just let them know what you have the.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113671

Most probably a dev phone. I thought at first that it could a test unit or an unreleased version but when I read mfg kernel my doubt was gone. Mfg allows even more stuff so there's still a chance you won't even need boot unlock even if it says otherwise. Keep in mind I'm just speculating.
A full backup of partitions could be handy for devs.

Its a test unit. One that has an eng hboot oddly enough. It does no good to achieve s-off but it does allow an eng hboot to be flashed once s-off is achieved. I have a surefire way to s-off the sv but can't get a tester

From GSM to CMDA to S-OFF

Hello,
The GSM version is not unlockable without xtc clip, but the CMDA version is. The Devices all always the same, same nand ram, but the software is another. And one big thing different, the sim slot. Cmda doesn't have on.
The GSM to CMDA UNLOCK
Flashing the CMDA version onto the GSM device:
BEFORE YOU BEGINN!:
Make your SDCard to a Goldcard! http://2fastroms.com/download/file.php?id=194&sid=62d820e4c053590a051998ced5242cf0
1) Do the same as downgrade: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301388 (use the cmda version number: 1.37.351.1)
Q: Why?
A: Because you will get an BootLoader Error [140]
2) Download the Cmda version: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0a...35.3029H_7.46.35.08_release_188032_signed.exe
Q: Will the Cmda version brick my phone?
A: No, because if there would be a problem the RUU will dedect it and will give an Error.
3) Plug-in your device, debugging enable, and plug only.
4) Start the Ruu and let it do itself.
Now your device is a cmda device:
Q: Will the new version bring problem with it?
A: Yes, the first thing is that you will not be able to make a call or message, sometimes the WIFI will not work and you get an error
Q: Why should I do that when i get errors?
A: This is just to get S-OFF, after the process you will get back to gsm version, so it will work everything very well.
5) If the phone starts, wait untill you can see the screen (or longer), pull out your battery.
6) Copy this files *PG76DIAG.nbh* *PG76DIAG.zip* and on your goldcard. http://2fastroms.com/download/file.php?id=193&sid=62d820e4c053590a051998ced5242cf0
7) Put the card back into the Device
8) Press "Volume Down and Power" at the same time
9) The Bootloader Screen will appear, now wait.
10) A screen will appear that says Clean s58. Press the power button once to select clean s58 and the phone will start doing it's thing and should take about a good 20 seconds until it's finished.
11) Once the process is complete then pull the battery to turn the phone off.
12) Remove the SD card from the phone, then boot into HBOOT again (VOL DWN AND POWER, if you cant remember
13) It should now say S-OFF at the top of the screen, you can now do much more with your phone. Just pull the battery and boot like normal.
Thanks to a Lot of people, helping me, testing and working this out

No one found this way before You? It's f* simple to do. Someone please test it and share results with us.

Omg dose this work lol?
What with the SIM card removed from the phone?
if this really works i might just kill myself because i thought about flashing a CDMA RUU but didn't have the balls to do it in case i bricked my phone i even googled the hell out of it and read that people converting to CDMA ro bricked there device but if this works nice on. i can see one problem tho how will users use the nightly cm7 builds there for GSM and not CDMA
Really works?
good work, but how to get gsm version back?

What are the chances of me bricking my phone? I'm willing to give it a go but if there's a chance of bricking it then I probably won't do it.
So, in case this would work, could I just install the latest european original htc rom again?
If yes, would it be S-On again?
Would love to test but wfs is my only phone. Maybe no.human.being could test it for he would be able to unbrick wfs if it fails using jtag. ?

Testing now..
But after i place DIAG files to SD
(after downgrade hboot still was 1.08.0000)
I see only HBOOT screen with
"Jumping to DIAG..." and nothing happens...
Now i downgrade HBOOT to 1.03 and flash CDMA rom again...
Sorry my english
Same problem with HBOOT 1.03, still wating on Jumping to DIAG .. screen.
Flashing a CDMA RUU on a GSM phone? Hmm... I don't think that's possible.

[Official Unlocking Bootloader] HBOOT HTC Desire

HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC Desire:
http://www.htcdev.com/ruu/PB9920000_Bravo_Froyo_hboot_1.03.0003_R.exe
http://www.htcdev.com/ruu/PB9940000_BravoC_S-RUU_Alltel_UTSI_001-27_hboot_1.09.exe
http://www.htcdev.com/ruu/PB9940000_BravoC_S-RUU_UTSI_028-47_hboot_1.09.exe
After this you must reboot in FastBoot Mode and type in Command Prompt: fastboot oem get_identifier_tokenSubmit
Then submit the token in order to receive your unlock code binary file...
When copying the token, start with this line:
<<<< Identifier Token Start >>>>
And end with this line:
<<<<< Identifier Token End >>>>>
The difference with the official way is that you only unlock the bootloader. You don't get S-OFF so you can't make changes 'on the fly' with Android running, you'd need to do changes with the phone in HBOOT/fastboot mode.
Hi,
thanks man. I'll have a good play with this later today.

If you are using AlphaRev's HBOOT, you should flash downgrade hboot first to be able to flash any other hboot...
I tried this last night but when I tried to flash the unlock binary file it just sat there then came up failed.

the official way of unlocking bootloader. a bit more restrictive than true s-off (cant flash radio)
theres a thread with a little discussion about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431726
FYI.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=662710
Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
If you have developed a ROM, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing. If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?

it's what I was thinking, what's the point of unlocking it with this.. and if you do that I bet you won't be able to flash an alpharev hboot since you can't roll back hboot version, and running revolutionary won't work since it's different hboot version.
That's my hypothesis on this anyway.
Yup. Correct. Unless you flash a hexedited version of this hboot, which has the version downgraded. Any guineapigs? It's useless, unless you plan to retain HTC's stock recovery to flash custom roms. Which again is useless..

Including me.. There's no way to be completely sure that the hexedited portion is the correct bit which decides the version. I flashed a hexedited hboot onto my device, and it did downgrade the version number displayed on the hboot screen, but that does not mean the version lock happens there.
But for fun, you can change the bit that says Alpharev/Revolutionary to whatever you like.

[Q] do I REALLY need Gold Card?

Hi y'all, somebody gave me a DesireC, it needs "Scrubbed"
Really can't do much other than play with the phone coz it's got that "CarrierIQ" crap in it, never mind my good freinds phone number --
Got it to root and S-off, factory reset it, (her number still there, tried that 3 times) as well as boot screen from her carrier...
I've tried making a gold-card? Learned alot but never succesfully made one. There is uncertaintly in the instructions wether to reverse the HeX string needed for the Gold card. Or Windows won't format the SDcard rightly...
Wouldn't all this be easier using Debian? [Linux]
I just want it bare nekked, no carrier, no number, NO SNITCHWARE (carrierIQ)
Do I NEED the gold-card to make this phone anonymous? If so, please point to the CLEAR instructions
Thanks in advance --

The dern thing won't let me RUU, as it's US Cellular apparently stock as I've tried "Factory Restore" hoping to clear my friends infoz off it
no joy, her number's still in it I'd be much happier if the phone number was blank, or xxxxxxxxxx (or whatever the default string is for a never activated phone)
Don't have (or see a need for) a carrier for it, coz I've not yet learned wether I can have it activated as a plain CDMA "No Gee" cell phone, If I gots Wifi I don't see a need for even 3g... It's loaded apps OK over WiFi. I'm a bit skittish even using WiFi till I'm sure it's clean with no CIQ
Once I get it's innards wiped (without any snitchware gunk) want to load a clean, battery efficient, more usable ROM (I don't need Fap-Book or Twiddler or games)
will loading a custom ROM remove the US Cellular crap and number?
Thanks in advance

I got a old Desire CDMA (PB99400 Bravoc) with US Cellular. Unfortunately it is S-ON and I want to root it. The deal is that the HBOOT version is 1.09.000 and all the tools I have found are for HBOOT 1.06.000
Do you know if it is possible to downgrade the HBOOT?. My phone looks like Picture 1 in your post.
Any advice will be highly appreciated.
Cheers
D

[Q] Hard or Soft Brick? Please help me

Hi, I'm new with this... So I want to know if my Wildfire has a Hard or Soft Brick. It doesn't want to start up. Just stay in a blank screen saying ''HTC'' in green letters and it doesn't want to do anything else. I want to know if it has a Hard or Soft Brick, if you know the solution, tell me please.
PD: It enters to Recovery and Fastboot mode, but it doesn't have the HBoot downgrade and S-Off mode.

I think it is a soft brick as you can still boot into recovery. If you can boot into recovery then you can recover a backup of a rom that managed to boot earlier. However if you have't made a backup I think you can flash a new rom, just make sure you do a FULL WIPE though.

do not run a htc ruu for the htc buzz wildfire!!!! your wildire is a htc bee! this is a cdma device and unfortunatley does not have much rom support. actually now that i am looking at it the only "custom" rom ever put out for it was by me..
chech here and follow the install instructions and your phone will boot
