[n80xx][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch - Galaxy Note 10.1 Original Development

Main thread + features + install instructions + dev support
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
PhilZ Touch is a CWM Advanced Edition that adds all the features you could ever miss in CWM
It is a well proven recovery for many phones
It also adds a full touch interface a completely configurable GUI
Since many requests to port it to N8000, here it is finally released
Please give your feedback, what works, and any bug you could encounter
Read the features, and check if you are missing something
I would appreciate a screen shot from your device, mainly under GUI options or custom backup menu where you select partitions
To take a screen shot, just slide left
Also, do not forget to read about the powerful aroma file manager integration and double tap shortcut
Download links

I had a hang up on the Note 10.1 splash screen trying to enter recovery after flashing the zip file but no problems after flashing the tar file with mobile odin.
I`m going out soon so haven`t been able to test it much.
Initally it isn`t working very well. The touch screen interface is very erratic.Pretty much unusable so have to use the power up/down button to navigate.
Once i get home i`ll try changing some of theGUI settings to see if that helps.
Thanks for porting the recovery over here and i`m sure the glitches will be sorted out soon.

I see in Post #1 the .zip file is for the P5100 (Galaxy Tab 10.1). Any ideas where I can find the .zip version for the Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000)? Thanks

Well spotted mate.I had my sleepy eyes on this morning and flashed it with predictable results
The tar file flashes fine with mobile odin. Why don`t you try it?

Sorry, fixed the zip version, now it is the one for N8000
About touch behavior:
1- when you touch a menu to select: is the selection precise and working as expected
2- bottom virtual buttons: do they work as expected?
3- If it is slow, try to reduce the Scroll Sensitivity setting and reduce menu height. Play with both to find a sweet point¨
Try to describe what happens with precision. A video would even be better, so that I can get what you mean. I won't be able to help much as I do not have the device, without these

1-no. For example i touch Backup and restore and the highlight changes to Install zip from SDcard. Go back picks another option or is unresponsive.
2-Totally unresponsive. (Edit:The back button works.)
3-Haven`t tried this as it is very difficult to navigate anywhere.
Maybe a N8000 user could post some findings as i`m on a N8010.

Thank you (out of my 8 daily :good
Ok, maybe it is a kernel issue in fact, as the kernel is stock N8100, but wired anyway
Post the recovery.img from N8010XXUCMA8 and I will look at it

Ah, bad news
So, the kernel swap won't fix it
Can you try to hide bottom virtual buttons in GUI settings and let me know if it fixes anything?
Also, Stock CWM Touch does work for N8000?

Ok,
Here is another repack:
Deleted
If touch doesn't work, try also to hide bottom virtual buttons in the GUI Settings
This version is is same recovery but repacked with original cm-10.1 ramdisk and kernel for N8xxx devices
Maybe the touch code issues are related to differences between stock and cm-10.1 kernels!
The adverse effects are:
- no exfat support
- aroma file manager could not work
Take it as a debug version just to rule out kernel from the touch issue

Flashed the latest repack and it made no difference.

Just flashed on 8010 and echo what ttav said scrolling up and down results in it flying up and down menu.
Turned off the virtual buttons and no diff at all.

Re: [N8000][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch
Figured it out. Probably key setup. It will be fixed. Meanwhile stick to version in post 1 and use hardware keys

Let's do it the hard way:
I changed the Key up / down mapping, but from the video I saw on P3100 thread and your description, not sure it would be enough. So, this a debug version only:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/l970z1wgn9ncpsv/philz_touch_4.90.8-n8000-debug-touch.zip
On each touch, it will print a lot of info about screen touch events
Please do exactly the following, do not touch screen other than below instructions, until you are done with log file
1- Boot into recovery, do not touch screen at all
2- Touch and lift finger on top left corner
3- Touch and lif on top right
4- Touch and lift on bottom left
5- Touch and lift on bottom right
6- Touch and lift on a menu
7- Touch and lift on a second menu
For steps 6 and 7, describe what happens
Now, using hardware keys vol up/down, navigate to Advanced / Error Reporting
Attach here the /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log file you get
This will help me spot the issue

[Q] Install custom ROM without optical trackball (cos it doesn't work)

I am trying to install a custom ROM (CyanogenMod) on my Desire, but I can't seem to complete the process because the optical trackball doesn't work any more. It stopped working a couple of weeks ago for no apparent reason - can't move a cursor when typing, can't take photos, can't scroll or transition between home screens, etc. I didn't really mind that much because I rarely used the trackball anyway, but now I really need it.
I have successfully rooted the phone, installed ROM Manager and flashed ClockworkMod Recovery. In ROM Manager I selected Download ROM (and downloaded the latest stable CyanogenMod); then I selected Install ROM from SD Card, and it said it needs to reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery to continue the installation, so it reboots into ClockworkMod Recovery, and that is where it all stops. I can move up and down through the options with the volume keys, but without a functioning trackball, there doesn't seem to be any way of selecting any of the options. The power button, home button, and menu button all do the same thing - switch the screen on and off. The back and search buttons do nothing.
Is there any way to select an option without the optical trackball? Alternatively, is there a different way of installing a custom ROM which doesn't require ClockworkMod Recovery?
I should mention, the instructions I followed are here.
And the only thread I could find with a similar problem was here. Alas, there was no solution.
Ok, there are several possibilities, but I think the easiest way is to operate CWM by using the volume control buttons (up and down) and the power button to select (As in HBOOT mode)
Another possibilty is to switch to a touch recovery.
Unfortunately the power button doesn't do anything except toggle the screen on and off. I can move up and down through the options with the volume rocker, but can't select anything.
Can you suggest a touch recovery?
There's only one Touch based recovery.
Swyped on my Htc Desire running on Supernova Extreme - Gingerbread goodness with 2 GB of Internal memory
Install 4EXT Touch version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408936 (actually, you have to download 4EXT Recovery Updater from the Market) Anyway, follow the steps from the thread and it'll be fine...
Took a while, but I got there in the end.
All done - many thanks.

Well, generaly it's stable enough for everyday use, but there are some lags.
F.E. - launcher theme reset (affected after system restart)
Haven't tried to disable all kind of animations, but I think it might solve the problem.
Also its' performance is lower than CM10 builds.
Personally I don't like MIUI, so I switched back to Quarx builds.
Works fine except for Cellular Signal, i can't get phone signal, network manual search doesn't work. is any way to solve this? like a baseband patch

Broken screen and digitizer, enable cast to chromecast with USB keyboard

Hi guys,
I'm in trouble with my OP3T and would really appreciate your help here.
I dropped the phone to the ground and broke the screen and digitizer
I would like to cast the screen to my chromecast to recover my files and maybe later repurpose the phone as a media player through a displaylink adapter.
I have connected a USB keyboard and mouse and can interact with the phone.
Can someone guide me through the steps (keypresses) to enable the cast to my chromecast?

Just login into your One+ account , demand an RMA, follow the instructions and for around 120 euro you will be all good within 2 weeks with a fully functional phone.
Yeah sure I thought about that but I've been a fool and bought the phone on gearbest, hoping to save a little bit at that time...
As the phone was not bought on the oneplus website, it's a bit tricky for the warranty.
Furthermore, I wasn't aware that it was a model made for the Chinese market so the 4G reception has always been horrible here in Europe.
The local repair shops are asking 160€ or more to replace the screen, it's not worth it especially knowing about the non-existent 4G.
Ok I managed to cast another phone to my chromecast using only the usb keyboard/mouse... but I guess the menu structure is not the same on the OP3T as that doesn't work.
Here is what I have thus far:
- Unlock the phone with fingerprint
- Open the app panel with the mouse (move to the bottom of the screen then drag it up)
- Type "param" > this will filter the list, only the parameters app will remain
- Press TAB twice to highlight the parameters app
- Press ENTER
The next part is tricky but doable:
- Move the cursor at the top right of the screen
- Move the cursor slightly down and left and click on the search icon (you have to fish for it a little bit, but you can hear a "click" once you've succeeded)
- Type "cast"
- Press TAB
- Press ENTER (that brings you to the display menu)
- Go at the bottom (Press the down arrow until you stop hearing click sounds)
- Press ENTER to select the cast menu
- Press TAB to select the chromecast device (only one in my case)
- Press ENTER to start casting
I would be very grateful if someone could try on his OP3T and tell me what differs and what key sequence I should press :good:

And that won't help me in re-purposing the phone to play prime video and local media files through a displaylink adapter

For a full backup, you can create an openrecoveryscript which is recognized by TWRP and upon boot into recovery, TWRP will automatically make a backup as specified in the script and you can pull that over MTP.
