Hiding the status bar with Tasker - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

As the title says, I want to use Tasker to hide my status bar, and temporarily reveal it when my finger is over the proximity sensor. The sensor part of it works fine but I can't find a method of toggling the status bar that Tasker can use.
I've tried:
-The native status bar option in Tasker which doesn't seem to work on this device
-SystemUI actions: I can use the SecureSettings Tasker plugin to run activities. Which means I can toggle the navigation bar fine but the status bar does not seem to be an option
-Hiding the status bar in Apex launcher only: I can add a shortcut to it on my homescreen but Tasker doesn't seem to be able to call Apex actions. I'd prefer not to use this method as it would only work on the launcher
Essentially what I'm looking for is an app that toggles the status bar and has an activity that I can access through Tasker, that lets me toggle it.
Galaxy Nexus GSM
Xylon 2.1.1 (AOSP 4.2.2)
Rooted
Thanks in advance for any help!

I know this is probably not what you want, but with Nova Launcher you can hide the status bar and assign a simple gesture to toggle it.

I've now got it working with the Apex actions using a different plugin but as I said it only works on the homescreen. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply... You're right in that it's not what I'm aiming for, I can do the same on Apex but it's less fluid than using the sensor. I also want a system-wide kind of thing that will work everywhere rather than just the homescreen.

If you have the "expanded desktop" option in your rom, you can use an app called "Locale", with a plugin called "Secure Settings", to trigger the expanded desktop by turning the phone facedown. That may not be quite what you're after, so another thing you can try is an app called GMD GestureControl. I'm pretty sure that has a fullscreen option in it.

Secure Settings:

GMD:

I've tried GMD, but it's too laggy. Secure Settings works on Tasker as well as Locale but the expanded desktop feature isn't there.

[REQUEST] [TASKER TASK] Expanded desktop/LMT toggle

I want to make a tasker task that will start/stop LMT launcher service when the expanded desktop is enabled/disabled, but I'm a super noob when it comes to tasker, and only understand very basic stuff. Does anyone know how I would go about that? I think it's a task that a lot of people would enjoy! Thanks!
I'm not even sure Tasker could recognize expanded desktop because I don't think it's a stock Android feature. Believe it's more of a mod.

I was kind of thinking the same thing, but at the same time, I've seen people make variables for some crazy, obscure stuff, so I cant help but feel like it's possible somehow. I just wouldn't even know where to start looking.
I've wanted to do that for forever, but I don't think it's possible

I use both and an uncertain how to do this. Are you assuming it's possible, or do you know how?
I'm no good with making variables. So far all I've been able to do is create a widget that launches lmt and expanded desktop. The problem is, it just takes you to the lmt menu and you still have to start the service manually.
maybe it just isn't able to happen, I don't know...
I am usually running paranoid android, and you van set certain apps to trigger expanded desktop on launch. I just thought it would be cool to also have a task that started lmt service at the same time, then ended it when you disabled expanded desktop. I mean... Seriously.... How awesome would that be?!?

Under the Task Edit window, select Plugins -> Secure Settings. Then in the Secure Settings screen, select Config, scroll down to the "Custom ROM" section (should be right at the bottom), and select Expanded Desktop. From there you can select ON, OFF, or TOGGLE.
Remember to set an Exit Task if you just want expanded desktop for certain apps!
slim rom has this option built in... =]

[Q] How to? T-Mobile LG D851 G3 Hide Top Status Bar

I think it's silly that LG has given us this big beautiful screen and diminishes it's full glory by not easily allowing you to hide the top status bar. I am pleasntly supprised about the fact that they let you hide the home navigation bar on the bottom. Love that.
So getting to work, how do we hide the top status bar in the same way as the bottom bar with a swipe to activate on demand?
So far on my quest I have done the following:
Placed the phone in developer mode and allowed USB debuging. Described here in the a PurpleDrake how to guide that I used: http://www.droidviews.com/root-and-install-twrp-recovery-on-t-mobile-lg-g3-d851/
PurpleDrake: Rooted, Installed TWRP, Disable LG Security. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/development/root-twrp-root-twrp-tmo-lg-g3-t2821005
Installed Xposed Framework http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-installer-versions-changelog-t2714053
Installed G3 TweaksBox and activated the module in the Xposed Framework https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.ptoti.g3_tweaksbox&hl=en
I have searched and searched google, xda and all the phone settings looking for an easy way to hide the status bar. What am I missing? Can someone please help? I hope this will benefit a lot of people. Thanks :good:
If you download gravity box module for xposed you can put the phone in expanded desktop mode which will hide the status bar

Is that just for the homescreen view or all the time? I'm looking to hide it while in applications. The same way the home nav bar at the bottom hides. Thanks
I use ADB launcher to get the job done.

ADB Launcher allows you to hide the notification bar and create a bottom drawer where you can use folder editor to put in category Icons that when pressed open up a slideable selection bar to select programs stored under that icon. Everything is neat and tidy on mine. No wasted screen space.

Thanks. More that I play with the phone, the more I realize that I actually just want the web browser to go full screen. Just need the status bar to hide when browsing. Don't really want to install an aftermarket launcher.
For other people's benefit, in case anyone else finds this thread that wants to use their phone's full screen. I found a solution that seems to fit the bill. I'm using an app called full!screen that says it's for tablets but seems to work almost perfectly https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.tsorn.FullScreen&hl=en
It has a pie menu included so you don't even need the pie app.

Status Bar Auto Hide

hey guys
As you know there is an auto hide option for the taskbar in windows that would hide it when its inactive
I was wondering if there is any similar option\app to hide the status bar in our phones, without root, so the status bar would hide when not needed and when we need it, we can swipe it down.
I have googled it and I think its called immersive mode
any ideas?

As far as I know that feature can only be used with xposed or custom roms. So no, there is no option to use it without root.
Nova Launcher provides ability to hide notification bar but not sure if root is needed.

I found an app (GMD) that doesn't need root, but actually its focus is on navigation bar rather than the status bar, so I didnt like it.
anything else?

Hide NavBar in specific apps (Nova Launcher)?

I have tried to do this via the Settings -> Buttons, but it is not working for me per specific apps. What I want to do is completely hide the NavBar when Nova Launcher is present. Is this possible?
Use something like edge gestures? Takes 5 minutes to get used to and then you can just hide it full time everywhere.
For hide NavBar in specific apps i'm using app "SystemUI Tuner". This app work without root and can set Immersive Mode for every different app. Please attentively read instruction of activations of the program. Unfortunately specific MIUI do after every restart device you need start SystemUI Tuner and in Immersive Mode push option "Navigation Bar", for make work it again. But this is not so hard. Also this app can do without root switch off warning message about Headphone Volume.

As I'm not on MIUI, I can't test it. But will it work if you toggle start on boot permissions on in settings? MIUI turns them off by default. I had this issue with LMT launcher.
I use Navigation Bar Hider.
Require ADB or ROOT

[Q] How do I auto show/hide the 3 button nav bar?

How do I auto show/hide the 3 button nav bar? I could have sworn my phone was doing this but suddenly stopped. I use action launcher. A quick small swipe up would make the nav bar appear, that or I am losing my mind lol

Maybe it's the dock you are thinking of. I know most launchers are able to hide/show the dock area which is usually right above the navbar. I do miss that ability from my old LG V30 and V20. I'm sure there is probably a way to do this on pixel 3 but I haven't looked into it yet.
That sounds like immersive mode.
Settings>System>Gestures>System Navigation>Gesture Navigation. It works with third party launchers now, but after you activate it, you have to go into your launcher's settings and select default launcher. If you don't, it will keep reverting to the stock launcher. It won't show the buttons at all anymore, you just use the gestures.

Hello,
I don't know if action launcher can trigger immersive mode. Dis you run a custom ROM?
If you wish, you can enable immersive on Android 10 and bellow with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
If you are rooted, you can just go in the app and enable the option. If you are not rooted, you'll have to open a command prompt and issue:
adb shell pm grant com.zacharee1.systemuituner android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Good luck...

Hello,
I'm using Nova Launcher. If you don't mind the status bar a little bit during browsing, etc... I hide it using Nova on desktop. If I didn't, I had somee apps, which menus on top left of the screen got hidden once the status bar disappeared. Didn't have that issue with a notchless device (Pixel 1 XL).
Cheers...
Sébastien.
