[Q] I'm about to upgrade from... - Samsung Captivate Glide

Morotola Milestone 2... I'm looking to buy Samsung Captative Glide i927, the sub forum is a lot more active and there are plenty of diferent roms to choose from.
Is it a worthy upgrade from a MM2?
Thank you.

Depending on your radio requirements, you should consider the Relay 4G. Its only downside over the Glide is its 4G isn't compatible with AT&T (but it's fully quad-band EDGE/UMTS), and the community just took off like a rocket this month.
I'll ride my Glide until it can't run the newest Android comfortably anymore, but if I was buying now, without a doubt in my mind, I'd get an unlocked Relay.

I'm from Argentina, I will look up what bands the carrier use here. Thank you, Relay 4G seems a strong candidate in my book, too bad I can't get it here via normal means, that is something I have to deal with down here, the choices are really non existant, that is why I'm also looking for someone or some business to get me one from USA.
Can I ask you some questions about your Glide? Because this one I can get it in Argentina, for about 450-475 USD, brand new in box, unlocked.
Edit1: the Relay 4G is a beast of a phone (dualcorewise), but dang it! the OLED is a pentile matrix
Still my account is not activated, I have to wait 5 min even to edit.
Edit2: neverming, I've just read the forum help.
Edit3: What is you opinion/feeling on the i927 Forums and development of ROMS? Still ongoing? Stuck? Dying?

If your carrier doesn't even offer HSPA+ specifically (I don't know the situation in your country), I wouldn't even bother. Both Glide and Relay will operate 3G in all four bands used in the US, and neither are LTE capable. If one won't work, neither will the other.
As for procurement: you may find someone on eBay US that will ship internationally. They may request some payment method other than Paypal (due to Paypal/eBay's reputation of siding with the buyer even when said buyer is very obviously and blatantly in the wrong). It's up to you whether the hassle (+exchange rate) is worth it.

Glide is also pentile, and a very obvious pentile at that (red has a plainly visible pattern). Looking at the specs, it's very likely the Relay and Glide have the exact same screen.

It's been aggravatingly slow since forever, and has cooled a bit but she's not dead yet. Relay is definitely more active right now. The fact that the Glide's SoC is rather exotic (the Tegra 2 specifically is freakin' WEIRD) and a pain to develop for hasn't helped any. That said, what we have right now is still pretty recent and is above and beyond DD quality (where the Relay ROMs have just gotten off the ground and still have some glaring issues).

Speaking of LTE... if that's what you need, look at the Stratosphere II. Yes, it's VZW which is CDMA, but it's an international device meaning it also has a GSM radio, and supports all common LTE bands instead of just whatever VZW uses.
That said, you'd be taking a serious gamble in the ROM dev department -- as of this moment we know NOTHING about the bootloader (it's not even rooted yet) leave alone what nasty surprises there could be waiting for us once we can flash it. And VZW has been by far the worst about bootloaders.

well...

I think they do not even do HSPA+, but even so, I'm not in need of H+ or LTE/4G speeds, my plan only has 512mb/month and I'm barely using half of it, I do not travel a lot, I do comute a lot, and the rest of the time I have WiFi access (I work at IT), so there is that. I'm happy with the 4mb/1mb I get with the 3G, I mostly need it to check mails, be online, Skype, access some servers via RDP and reddit.

Seeing that the Motorola Photon Q LTE has the SIM card soldered, I will try to see about the MM4. But yeah, I have to see if the hassle, and the waiting times are worth it to me, I had the MM2 for 13 months now, before that I have the Samsung Galaxy Spica (really really low end phone) but made me fell in love with Android.

Crap, in the MM2 I dont even see the pixels (it is a 3.7" screen with 852*480). I tried to google some screen reviews of the Glide but found nothing, that bad is it? I wish I could see it before buying it...

As long there are some cool CM ROMs I'm up for it. The fact is that with my MM2 there are only 4, CM7.1 is totally dead, there is MS2GINGER (which I rather not) and CM10/10.1 which are painfully slow on my device. That is why I recon it is time to change, also I bought it used, so it was an old model when I bought it. I'm poor, and the prices are insane.

I think I will keep researching and trying to cool off myself, I was about to pull the trigger on the Glide, but the pentile and 4row keyboard got me thinking, I has stuff that I like/want (1gb RAM, dual core, slide Keyboard) and stuff that I dont, pentile matrix and 4row keyboard. (mm2 also has 4 row keyboard, but I want an upgrade on everything if I'm putting a lotta money on it).
Would you recommend the Glide if the year were 2011/2?
Bottom line, I cant decide yet it seems. Thank you.
edit1: I'm about to pull the trigger on the Glide (it is theRogers version, so that makes it an i927R, that $2900[pesos] are about 467 USD official price or about 350usd black market us dollar price [black market dollar is abut 67% more than official one, the country is in the ****, dont be mistaken, is more than a half month salary of mine.), I've contacted the seller, and awaiting his/her reply.
Besides the pentile screen, on how bad could it be, how flat are the keys? are they totally flat? the action is clicky, springy or rubbery?
Thx again.

Development on the GLide has slowed to a crawl. No disrespect to the developers they are the best but most have now moved away from the Glide which is now almost a 2 year old phone. I love my Glide but I am envious of all the new Phones coming out with larger displays, LTE and now even IR. Wish I could control my TV with my Glide without need for any other attachment or computer. Our GLide is still one of the best Hardware Keyboard devices but the bad battery drain that makes me have to add an oversize battery making it look like a phone from 5 years ago. We will never get an official JB from our carriers as they have dropped support for our phone already. As for JB from our developers it is promising but unfortunately Bluetooth headset profile is not working or very flaking that makes it not a viable solution especially for those of us that live in areas where it is ilegal to hold your handset and drive.
My recommendation is get the GLide if it is very cheap as it is still a decent phone, but if you can shell out a little more cash get something newer with more support from it's carrier and more people on it in the XDA community.

Any of them can support it. The real reason they don't leave them in is because they don't want video calls lagging up their network. They don't have enough of a 3G foundation in place to feel secure with the concept. As long as the software is available (and it is), we could have it. I don't blame them, but it still pisses me off that I can't have it.

I wouldnt even use it over 3g, if i were to use it, id only be over wi-fi in hotspots. In all realness, i doubt id even use that camrea much, but i just hate it when i see one device, that has removed features for (what equates to) the same price.
The front camera isn't much of a big deal really. Don't let it stop you from getting the phone. It looks really cool. I won't mind having it but it doesn't support our 2100 3G networks. . I hardly use my fron camera on the HD. The novelty wears off really quicky. Also video calls cost a lot and you need to be on the same network to get cheaper calls. I only used it once to test it out and never used it again. Mainly because most of my friends won't take video calls cos it cost them money. LOL.
Damn, Mid June?? Thats right around the corner! Looks like Sprint is corning the market in June of 2009. Time to buy some Sprint stock.... weeeeeeeeee
Then sell it!!!
Well, with the 2 hottest QWERTY handsets out this June (Palm Pre and TP2), I am sure Sprint will be very popular this summer.
I am soooooooo happy about this. With this being a CDMA/GSM Hybrid I'll get to have my cake (Sprint) and eat it too (the world)!
Hehehhe! As far as video calling goes, do we really need it? No, I mean, who are we going to call that actually has video calling in the US? May be a handful of business users MIGHT have it on a hard line. Engadget is reporting on a June release for the TP2 but (hold your horses, bad news) this FCC doc https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/oet/forms/blobs/retrieve.cgi?attachment_id=1113590&native_or_pdf=pdf clearly states a confidentiality release date of October 31st, 2009! Weird, huh? I mean, things change but I still think it'll be a Q4 release like originally anticipated (leaked for internal Sprint roadmap earlier)
I suspect that's business as usual, though I don't know for sure. But it would make sense to request that sort of thing for several months past the release date as a contingency for a last minute need for change of plans regarding rollout. I don't see this as in any way restricting a carrier or HTC from releasing the phone before the date stated.

for me, thats not so much the point as, i just dont like features, useful or not, being taken away from something with out it being replaced by something else.. and sorry, a sprint/t-mobile/att logo isn't an adequate replacement for a camera. Maybe i wont use it, but i always like it when something is there, and not use it, rather than if something wasn't their, and i needed it.
Does anyone else think the release date is suspect? I want some confirmation first from Sprint as it would make no sense to release 2 smartphones like the Pre and TP2 in the same release time frame, they would hurt each other's sales. Also, Palm has been known for business devices, so saying the Pre is consumer based and the TP2 is business focused would not sell it for me...I'm sure hoping this isn't like when people rumored the Pre as early as April and it got pushed back little by little...personally I can't stand my TP any more as I'm having major problems and would do anything to trade it in for a TP2 sooner instead of later (may have to resort to a Pre if the TP2 doesn't truly come in June).

It was confirmed by Sprint, in a roundabout way, when this was first announced. A Sprint employee said a high level Sprint sales rep demo'd the phone, and said the release date was June.
Sprint is apparently coming out with the Pre, Snap, and TP2 all within a few weeks of each other. This does make sense if you think about it, because they are all very different form factors and each is likely to appeal to different sorts of customers (I wouldn't touch the Pre or Snap with a 10 foot pole - Pre has an untried, little supported OS, and Snap has a keyboard design I personally can't stand - But I can't wait to get my hands on the TP2). It's unlikely, I think, that they will hurt each other's sales. If Sprint can generate some real mass enthusiasm across three different phone styles all at the same, it's probably going to be to Sprint's benefit to have all the buzz being around them instead of the other guys.
Marketing guys will tell you it will even be an advantage to have negative buzz ("love the Pre but they are sold out till August! Dammit!"). No such thing as bad publicity and all.
Sprint really needs to get people talking about them, and not Verizon and AT&T. I think this stands a good chance of being a brilliant strategy.

And this is the thing that finally pushed me over the edge. I end up using CDMA locally and GSM on the road, and I have always kept two phones around: this will *finally* put an end to this. 'Cause honestly, it would be hard to justify the purchase absent that: the hardware underpinning the device is nearly the same as my Touch Pro.

I so sure the fine folks of the hacking and unlocking communities wont let that go, we should have the best of both worlds in the same country -----ITS A FREE COUNTRY!! HOOK IT UP BARACK!!!!
from what i've learned by poking around the CDMA phones require a different firmware correct? among other small things?
i would assume this means less support since it seems like a majority of the genius's here use GSM phones.

Should I return my Epic Touch 4G?

History: I had an Evo then few months ago got the Evo3D.
I had been waiting for this phone since it was announced around Feb 2011. Now I've had it for almost 2 weeks and with the 15 day return policy I have 2 more days to keep it return. I still have my E3D and I paid $499 for this phone.
Decision Time:
Pro's:
Screen resolution, smooth scrolling, cool camera 8/10, 16GB internal plus SD, slim and light
Con's:
No NFC, touch screen not as responsive, screen size requires mostly both hands to navigate, USB pluged on computer doesn't show up (only way I found to access my GB is wifi kies), keyboard lag as I'm typing right now. I'm sure an update will fix most of the problems.
Now, Im big on tech yet I feel this phone or another phone should feed my tech thirst for atleast 6months, with no nfc I feel like I paid $499 for sexiness and looks. Had this phone NFC no doubt I wouldn't consider returning this hotness. I read ATT and Tmobile version will have nfc kinda bummer.
I'm really looking forward to using google wallet, bust out my phone type my pin and transaction paid, no CC... My delema is IF I return this, is there any other sexy phones coming to sprint equiped with NFC (nexus prime). I dont mind holding back until November bur doesnt look like anything is popping.
Totally confused, any opinions suggestions?
I don't have this phone, but looking at your cons, I would return it.

Evo3D doesn't have NFC either. I personally don't see any of the problems you're suffering from. My computer recognizes my phone fine, and I can transfer files to and from it, or it's SD card without using Kies. I have yet to experience keyboard lag (though I switched the keyboard because I hate swype). I also don't have a problem navigating it with one had, but that's definitely based on your hands and preference. I've also never had my touch screen not be responsive.
I had the 3D before the Epic Touch and I'm still somewhat on the fence about trading it back out for an Evo3D again. I love this phone, but I loved other things about the 3D (including the HUGE dev following it has). I'll likely end up keeping the Epic though, because I do feel it's substantially faster, and I like the bigger screen.

Nobody knows if the Nexus Prime will even come to Sprint. This phone is king right now so I don't know what your problem is. Splitting hairs a little too much maybe? Nothig will ever be perfect for some people. No offense. 3 months after the Prime comes out something else will be better then people will complain about that.
But if you're that unhappy stick to your E3D and return this one.

Sprint No NFC
ATT & Tmobile Yes NFC
Verizon nexus prime Yes NFC
NFC will rule by end of the year
NFC really? Not that big a deal right now very and I mean very few places even use it yet. Future proof sure but for the next year you'd be fine NFC lol. It will be great when it gets more mainstream. As for screen I haven't seen any screen lag either. Keyboard try another keyboard. USB plug works on PC and MAC just fine, got drivers?
pretty sure the prime isn't going to have the Exynos processor. I think the prime is going to basically be the samsung hercules for sprint with the 1.5 ghz qualcomm processor. An inferior processor. I'll see you when I'm running kernels and roms months from now trying to break the 5500 mark barrier and beyond on quadrant overclocked. This thing is raw power in the nicest package you can get it in. U want NFC go at&t and lose the screen. Sounds like you don't like the extra real estate anyways. The prime is gonna be the same screen.
Rumors say 1.5 ghz ti omap 4460.. So we don't know how good the processor will be.. And from what I read that processor was delayed until early 2012 so wit the tell knows what the prime will have now

There are only 150,000 locations across the entire continental United States that currently accept NFC. You do know that we don't even have the resources to install the NFC receivers even if there was demand within years yet alone a year right? NFC if it became very popular and essential for business's due to demands would take years to become widespread. At least 3 years at the very earliest. Well outside of everyone's plan agreements. I even expect a very slow start due to peoples comfort with credit card transactions and initial worry about possible security liabilities amongst the general public.
You need to enable USB Debugging if you want to be able to view the phone to show up as a USB Drive. I'm not sure about the keyboard lag and the screen has been plenty responsive for me though it's not the most responsive screen ever which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

From what I gather the Exynos set up with it's GPU won't be matched by the 4460. The Exynos will out process the 4460 across the board. Also I read that samsung is forced to use the 4460 because it supports 42 + HSPA for t-mobile and the like. It's a weaker processor set up that supports a special kind of wireless connectivity is why samsung is forced to use it. If I'm not mistaken it will be in the t-mobile variant of the GS II so we'll have benchmarks within a matter of weeks. Now mind you, t-mobile was the only carrier not to allow access to their phone at the samsung press event. I would gather it's because their phone benchmarks lower than the sprint and att versions.

I want NFC myself, but you're kidding youself if you think NFC will become even popular within the next 2-3 years. I give it 5 years before it becomes kind of mainstream. Even paypass isn't full deployed yet and it has been around for more than 10 years.
The list of things this device doesnt have keeps getting longer. I could deal with the old tech resolution, no NFC... Yeah that sucks, but whatever. It's still pretty early in that game anyhow. But the thing that bugs me most is that it's looking more and more like no Rev B when Sprint upgrades its 3G network. Would have at least let the wife keep mine, but not now. Sending it back. If it turns out later the device supports Rev B and the Prime doesnt come or isn't what it's hyped up to be, I might consider picking up another GSII.

Galaxy Nexus no longer being released on the 9th in the US?

sigh... dropping the ball. They dont want this phone on their network.
if it doesnt launch friday ill be buying something else, i'm getting sick of using my cracked thunderbolt and even more sick of waiting
I don't think they ever officially stated a day. I've thought for a while that they would release it with some clause that said no worry free guarantee exchanges for this device since a lot of people are planning on returning their razr or rezound too.. we'll see.
Sent from a can on a string using XDA app.
I called Verizon yesterday, the 1800#, and they confirmed the 9th, so this has to be a change if true
I can't wait until this thing is released, not because I want to get it but so these threads will end.
Wait for it or buy online like most people did here

Take a look through this forum. I think VZ would have to iron out all these issues before putting it up for sale. I doubt VZ is going to have thier tech support saying " oh you can just download this app to fix that issue". It's going to have to work 99%, or people will just bring it back in and swap phones. There really isn't anything so magnetic about this phone that will make a regular user say they can't part with it. Imagine 50,000 used phones, cases, screen protectors, cradles etc. I can understand a few issues with a new device, but it looks like there are quite a few.
So I guess we will just wait for the 9th and see.
this is what i know verizon has a **** load of iphone and razrs! wouldn't you try and get the most out of your inventory? i wouldn't want to price cut just to sell if i didn't have to, or at least prolong a long as possible
Verizon sucks. that's why I left them after 10+ years. They are like the Apple of cell carriers. Need to control every aspect.
So now they aren't releasing the Gnex cause their 4G LTE is crapping the bed... Seems their LTE service has all kinds of issues with each new phone that is released to it.

I'm pissed!!! I'm shipping out my G2x Friday and thus wont have a phone until they get off their ass.
The phones are sitting in their stores. Its a little too late.
Verizon usually releases phones on Fridays? So of it misses this Friday, it won't be available until next Friday?

Do you seriously think Verizon will iron out anything?
Have you used a droid bionic? The phone is total garbage, riddled with bugs, and had plenty of Verizon and Motorola "testing time."
They will release it eventually and it will be full of plenty of bugs they missed. Who knows what the hell they're doing.

Well I will agree on one thing. Their cell reception is the best.
But I can't deal with their arrogance, and pricing. At the time the OG Droid launched (I got mine on first day), they said they were changing their style... going to be more open with regard to their phones. After the OG Droid was a huge success for both Verizon and Android, they pretty much went back to their old ways.
Now they are releasing their 2nd pure google phone. And they are dragging their feet with the release. Probably making google changed certain aspects of it, making it more closed then the GSM version.

I'll agree that the pricing is outrageous, but until someone with an equal or better network (see: competition) comes along, Verizon will be the status quo as far as high quality networks are concerned.
I don't think the latest delay has anything to do with the Nexus as much as it has to do with the overall network from a QoS standpoint. As a network technician myself, I can tell you that the issues being described with LTE SIM Card Authentication warrant a "freeze" until the problem is rectified. Why introduce a large amount of new devices onto the network without resolving the problem first?
Was just in a Verizon store buying a case for my GSM nexus. Guy said they had the phones in store but got an email a couple hours ago that it was no longer being released on Friday. Didn't have any details but seems like the article posted was true.

Funny I went looking for release dates. Mondays and Thursdays seem pretty common for Verizon. Also funny is the original 11/21 release date (I'm sure it was even earlier then that).
You know I've been on both sides. Push the release date until it's ready and people complain. Release the phone before its ready and people complain. Coming from a LG G2x, I can honestly say releasing the phone before it was ready was good for me but not for the population as a whole. The negative feedback it received as a "faulty device" forever scarred its name.

Motorola isn't exactly known for making phones that aren't riddled with bugs.....
This sounds more like something with Verizon's LTE network and not something to do specifically with the phones themselves.

[Q] Keep my GS3 or switch to HTC One X?

I just got a Galaxy S3 on AT&T and the majority of the features, little things, that just make it more pleasant to use are probably available in 3rd party apps, so I'm wondering if the SGS3 is worth the $100 premium over the HOX? I posted this thread in the SGS 3 forum too a week or two ago and they said I should post it here too for some insight from HOX owners.
Another reason I was kind of considering the HOX over the SGS3 is that I've had two phones stolen and I just had my Skyrocket stolen, which prompted the upgrade, so with the HOX, you can't take the battery out. Am I correct in believing that that makes it less likely to get stolen? Because I thought that even if the phone was off but the battery was in, it could be tracked. Is this right or wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I like the feel of the HOX, My missus has the SGS3 and every time I lay my hands on it makes me love the build quality of the HOX. Another plus for me is Sense. As mentioned in previous post........join us!
They're about equal imo. HOX has nicer build and screen. SGS3 has better camera and dev community.
No point switching unless you're unhappy with the SGS3.
You might also want to consider the Nexus 4.

Well, you're in the Tegra 3 One X forum, this One X doesn't support LTE either and has no SD slot.
im thinking of swapping my HOX to SGS3/NOTE 2 because i'm a little frustrated with the JB update. went to the mall yesterday and feel the note2 and sgs3. and i dont see anything that would really make me swap my HOX. i still like my phone. i'll just wait for the JB update. it's always a matter of preference and how do you use your phone.
I'm just gonna throw some points.
Sense is a big advantage but it is heavy.
HOX has cooler design ?
One X has a brighter and REAL HD display, S3 also has an HD display but its RGB components are not equal in size(makes it worse), S3 has true black colors ?
S3 supports SD
Personally I think its a bad idea to switch between equal phones. At least go for the HOX+.
On the other topic, You can report your phone stolen and your carrier will blacklist(and block) your IMEI and CAN(but not sure if allowed) track the next user's info. But theres absolutely no way to track the phone even if its on, unless
-you installed some app which tracks the phone "WHEN IT IS CONNECTED TO INTERNET (3G/WIFI)" or
-if your SIM is still in the phone and the police triangulates its position (they use this to track criminals and i don't think they will do this for a stolen phone)
Is the bootloader on the HOX+ locked or unlocked?

How many people have moved on?

Last week end I upgraded my Cell to the newer HTC ONE. I just had enough with the low battery life of the GLide and the constant Bluetooth issues on various Roms not to mention annoying GPS Synch. Since all these issues are on a Samsung Product I decided to jump ship to the Newest HTC phone. I am simply making this post to wonder if many others have moved on as well to other phones.
I will miss my Keyboard and my MicroSD slot but I think I will manage.
I will still occasionally be checking GLide Forums but may spend more time on the HTC ONE forum. Just wanted to say I really loved and still do love the GLide Community. Too bad Samsung never released a JB Rom for this phone.
What do you think I can get for my GLide if I wanted to sell it? HTC is offering 100$ for my old Cell phone because I purchased a ONE.
I always preffer htc devices, but, I buy glide because I dont have enough money and I want a tegra device (htc onlyu has tegra 3 and is too expensive for me) The HTC ONE is excelent, I still have the glide because I dont have money to buy other phones

I would move on, but the problem is: there are no QWERTY phones available... specially powerful ones.
GSMARENA doesn't have anything on future phones with physical keyboard... so this is probably the last of the mohicans.
I'm thinking about the Nexus 4, but I have no idea if I'll be able to live without keyboard.
Best regards.

THe HTC has a SnapDragon 600 Processor rated at 1.7 ghz Quad core. Same as the S4 just the S4 is clocked at 1.9. It did not cost much Rogers waived my upgrade charge and let me get it at 149.99 on a 3 year contract after only having my GLide for 1 year and a half. WooHoo!
I'm not planning on moving along any time soon. I don't care about having the 'latest and greatest' phone, because to me it's just a phone. It sends text messages, makes phone calls, takes photos and videos, and allows me to use my ebook reader.
I used to want the qwerty keyboard for gaming and MUDding, but I don't really do either of those anymore. But by the same token, why should I bother "upgrading" just to get rid of the keyboard? I don't see the point in spending money when I don't have to.
And I'm not too fussed about not being able to upgrade to JB. I'm happily using ICS which does all I want it to do - GPS works, Bluetooth headset profile works in the car, and I have enough of a degree of customisation and flexibility to make it easy and enjoyable to use. I only upgraded from my Milestone 2 because there were particular aspects of that phone that were very frustrating.
So, will I upgrade any time soon? I don't think so. I actually have a spare Glide (still in original, unopened packaging) which I plan to list on eBay and sell, but I've only had the phone for 7 months now and don't see any legitimate reason to spend money on a new one.
But that being said, I don't have the same interest in development and 'ooh shiny' that a lot of other people do. I don't see the need to upgrade every year, or every 2 years. The phone is fast enough, it boots quickly, and it serves my needs. I also know there are other people having issues with GPS with this phone, and considering how dependent we are on the technology these days, I can understand that as being a reason to move on.
Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. If you actually feel you have a genuine reason to move on, then do so. But I would suggest taking a pragmatic view of the whole picture - perhaps just downgrade to ICS (which really isn't actually that bad) and you'll have your working Bluetooth again.

I'm using IcePop ROM, which I think requires you to flash the AT&T ICS ROM first. Since trying out the JB builds all I did was restore my previous IcePop ROM backup and flash the kernel again to get it working.

Ya, I got a Galaxy S3 4G. I do miss having the physical keyboard but having the bigger screen makes using the onscreen keyboard acceptable.
I still have the Glide, but reverted it back to its original Rogers GB, as it was the most stable and functional with that ROM.
europia joyful
I just recently got the glide and absolutely love it.
It's super fast and smooth on cm10.1. Even the custom ICS roms are pretty good.
The keyboard is absolutely terrible. I only use it when working in a terminal emulator doing programming (need lots of ();\ type stuff, slightly easier.)
The Stratosphere has a much better keyboard, I'm sad to say, and it is nowhere near as good as my stolen torch was.
Anyway, the Tegra 2 is awesome for me. I build and compile medium sized c++ projects on it and run a Django webserver on it for development/testing of a backend system I'm building.. so I can do everything on the phone directly.
I don't watch a lot of video, take a lot of pictures, or do other "smartphone-y" things on it. But for what I do, it's absolutely amazing.
Oh, I also use the native SIP dialer in android for 100% of my voice communication. I made a SIP gateway on one of my servers in the US for Google Voice. 100% free US calls as long as I have data anywhere in the world.
I really can't imagine what a faster/fancier phone would enable me to do that I can't do now.
Oh, I also have a larger 3rd party battery, and run the Ondemand governor for maximum battery life. If I keep it in airplane mode most of the time I can forget to charge it overnight and still have enough juice to get through the next day only using it for critical things.
Very happy with the phone and ROMs overall. (I'm currently building cm10.1 to work on the speaker/headset and then bluetooth issues.)
I moved on to the S3 and gave my wife the Glide. I couldn't take the lack of dev support any longer.
