[Q] How to always force full-screen keyboard? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The Note 2's display is large and hi-res enough to do certain tablet-like functions.
However, when I want to make a post on Internet forums (such as Google Groups) using the web browser, when I'm in Landscape mode, instead of displaying what I'm typing in keyboard landscape full screen mode, I see a small (useless) part of the webpage in the background.
I'm hoping there's an app or setting to force full screen mode no matter what software keyboard I'm using. Currently, I'm using Thumbs Keyboard (which only offers the opposite setting... force full screen off).

Check out external keyboard helper from Google play.

[Q] GN Browser Doesn't use Full Screen in Landscape?

I'm a noob, here, and have just been exploring my new GN for several days.
Does anyone know how to stretch the browser to full screen in landscape mode?
It currently does not over-write the soft menu space as does the video playback.
I also note that the landscape keyboard appears limited to the same restriction.
Verizon support says it's a limitatio and they've had some complaints, but I've found that source is not always as accurate as the best forums esp for new releases.
Does this bother any of you as much as it does me?
Are there any other browsers that do use the full width?
(I've tried Dophin but can't finds a 'cure' there, either.
There is a browser setting for full screen under labs in the settings menu. And you're supposed to see the soft keys with the keyboard active.

Thanks - I had found and set that flag. It expands the browser real estate to cover the the phone status line at the top of the landscape browser space.
But the 3 soft keys for top level phone operation aren't removed.
That extra 1/4 inch of horizontal space would give minor but noticeable improved view space for web page reading, just as that expansion during video playback provides an impactful improvement.
I'd also welcome that for the landscape keyboard, since it would give my fat fingers some more room to type accurately.
Is it worth registering requests for possible changes here with Android development support, or am I missing something about why these limitations are positive in either case?

Text Color In Full Screen

I borked something... For some reason when my keyboard (any keyboard that uses full screen) goes full screen the font color is changing to white. If it wasn't for the white background this would not be an issue. This happens in landscape, but portrait doesn't go full screen so it works fine.
Does anyone have any idea on how to change the font color in full screen only?
As a work-a-round I have installed a keyboard manager that changes the keyboard based on orientation. I am using SlideIt in landscape and FlexT9 in portrait. Occasionally I use hackers keyboard, but having same issue there. I have a habit of switching keyboards depending on my needs at that time.

What do you mean, ''keyboard that uses full screen''? Can you give an example of which keyboard app, which editor app (does it happen when you post on this forum, for example?), and what do you do to make it ''go full screen''?
(By the way, I am using Hackers' Keyboard. All the keys are there, and you can move the cursor with onscreen keys.)
In landscape using hackers keyboard or flext9, when the keyboard expands the entry field goes from web page/ app/ entry field to the fill screen mode where the keyboard takes up half the screen and the other half is a separate input screen, not the web page view.

[Q] Reduce Keyboard textbox size in landscape

Is there anyway to reduce the landscape keyboard textbox size. It dont like the fact it takes up the full screen. It would be nice to still be able to read the message above it etc.
You can use a custom keyboard, popular ones from the market have a DPI setting in the keyboard setting, however for me the result was terrible removed it in minutes after that.

Setting for Hackers Keyboard in Landscape on GNEX? Full Keyboard and textbox only

Hi.
As keyboard I am using "Hackers Keyboard". 4 Row only.
I'd like to use HK as a full screen keyboard in Landscape mode, meaning in Landscape there should be only the keyboard (big) and a textbox where I am writing currently. I Portrait it should be "normal" keyboard and everything else visible (textbox, background, other text, etc).
How can I achieve that the keyboard is "big with textbox" in Landscape?
Currently it does the same as in Portrait, big keyboard and a little gap between keyboard an the upper screen. On some apps, this is not enough to display a textbox. On others it is enough.

Fullscreen apps in landscape mode

I figured out that here would be the best place to ask.
I am struggling with the crappy fullscreen mode in landscape - the area around the camera is always either black or white. Did some tests - the most of the apps to not utilize the screen, where only the notification bar (being on the long side in landscape mode) does. Strangely enough, Google Maps and Google Translate DO utilize the whole screen in landscape mode, where as hangouts or gmail don't. This is with setting for full screen apps.
Did some reading and it seems like there are 2 ways - either the app forces the fullscreen or the OEMs. Did some tests with my own app at it looks like the only way for the app to appear fullscreen is to be allowed in the app. Is that so?
Does Gmail also have this blank area on other phones?
As you say, some apps use the full area, others don't, I believe the issue resides in the apps, not the device
