I guess that's for the best...

Two ways to do this...root and no root...
I was looking for the same to provide support to clients. There are two ways I've found to do this...
1) My Mobiler:
Not sure if ypu guys remember this from the good old WinMo days, but My Mobiler is now available for Android users for some time. Must be rooted and config is a little tricky on Samsung phones (easy on HTC and Moto), but once you get it working it's great for local control via USB or WiFi, or remote control via VPN or some other virtual network. Google it. Unfortunately you have to be rooted so not for everyone.
2) Teamviewer:
For Samsung devices only...no root required, free! One click install! Works great on GN2, GS3, and GN10.1 (those are the only three I tested, may work with others). Just go to the Play Store and search for Teamviewer Quicksupport. With free Teamviewer app on desktop or another Android device, any user with a compatible device can send you an invitation to allow you remote control desktop sharing of their device. According to Teamviewer, this only works on stock rom. I'm running stock MA7 rooted on my GN2 and it works great. Easy reliable connection, setup couldn't be simpler, and Android to Android remote control is great. And since no root is required, if you happen to buy a Samsung smartphone or tablet for your mom or dad, it's a great way to help them out when they call you for help!

remote assistance app that controls android devices via windows?

i was wondering if theres anything such as windows-controlling-an-android remote assistance software?
reason why i ask this is because some people are not good with android and they keep asking me for help with it. instead of meeting them up in person I was wondering if its possible to control their android device from Windows?
get the android vnc app from the market
No results found... what's the app called exactly?
Isn't android-vnc something that controls your computer from your phone? Original post requests just the opposite: the ability to control someone's phone from his computer.
Teamviewer??
I any luck yet
I think the OP is looking for the opposite -- Remote support to control the Android device FROM a computer, not controlling a computer from Android
I'm looking for the same thing to help my family out. I currently use VNC and a custom script to do remote PC support.
Droid Explorer, but you need basic adb (android-sdk) installed, but it gives you full control of your phone. You can push apps, take screen shots, and everything inbetween
Search remote web desktop. There is a control addon that works very well, and all in a web interface. No adb necessary.

Webkey. Although it might be too powerful for what you need...
You can try AirDroid.

Sorry guys, i have bought a tablet for the grandma, and tried to help her many times over phone conversation. She has now the basic skills to the tablet, but as you know the android can be very embarrassing and surprising...
I really need a remote assistance software WITHOUT any rooting and other miserable solutions: just simply install and use.
I feel myself as a victim of a fascist raping. Do you guys or do the manufacturers really think, to help for a 70 years old lady is an extreme requirement?
The tablet: prestigio pmp7070c, fantastic hardware with the looser android. The winmo 6 would be far more better than this miserable android.

You'll have to piece the link together as I'm not yet allowed to post links on XDA.
It's not free. But this will work.

Mountain Lion vs. Kies

I uninstalled Kies because when it came up indicating there was an update for my Kies, it wouldn't work. When I tried to download and install the latest version from Samsung, it came up that OSX 10.5-10.7 only are supported.
Anyone manage to install Kies on OSX Mountain Lion?

I have the same problem
Still waiting for an update from Samsung.
Ran into this the other night. Wonder how long before it updates... guess I'm glad I have a Windows partition for work.

That would be pretty much anything that isn't developed by a company with an apple containing a bite out of it as a logo.
Hahaha here we gooooo...
"Hi I'm a Mac...."
"...and I'm a PC"
just for the heck of it I wanted to see if I could use this kies via my Ubuntu.
on the phone:
So I turn on WiFi-Direct (i'm home so naturally I have my WiFi working)
then I start Kies from app icon.
In a short time Keis gives me an address.
I type this address into my laptop browser to connect.
and sure enough I have a page which shows various images, videos, ringtones, contacts, bookmarks, etc that lives on my phone. I've uploaded files to the phone using this. So it works.
and I'm using a real OS.
I love how a powerful, beautiful frontend to BSD is not classified as a "real OS". What, because it doesn't run .exes? Give me a break. I run Windows 7 in a virtual machine with 4GB of RAM and it runs flawlessly any time I need to run a Windows app. It also allows USB passthrough so I can flash my phone with Odin. I can do anything a Windows computer can do (besides game, but that's what my PC is for) without actually starting up my loud, powerful PC.
Lose the bias, guys. I'm sure you dislike Macs because you buy into the whole "Macs are for idiots" paradigm, on top of them being expensive. Cry more.
As for the topic, I haven't tried Kies in ML but I do have some intermittent WiFi issues. Hopefully 10.8.1 will address a lot of the problems.
I have a mac with lion and I use parrells with win 7 and I only use Odin that's only thing I trust.

Apparently you can bypass the installer and the app works just fine: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4163556?start=0&tstart=0

Tried that, even on 10.8.1 it still doesn't work. Sure I can launch the app, but doesn't connect to phone and I can't disable automatic backups cos the app crashes when I open that tab.
Also, side-note:

Thanks. Finally someone who actually knows that OS X is BSD, and thus a REAL OS... the GUI means jack ****, as if I ever need to do something that the GUI "limits" (which is not much), I can fire up a terminal and run whatever command I wish. As a system admin of both *Nix and Windows, I can safely say that Windows is the only OS that shouldn't be classed as a "REAL" OS (although that would be short-sighted, as it's perfectly decent and usable). I mean it's technically the only mainstream OS that doesn't follow some kind of *nix background and therefore is needlessly different...
I have kies installed on my macbook pro with mountain lion 10.8.1 and have not had any issues to date. Maybe check in settings you can use apps from the internet and its not only setup for app store apps. I never had an issue with mine and even recently have upgraded the software to make it compatible with my new phone firmware.

Remote desktop...... Buy differently wanted.

Trying to find an app that will let me remote desktop my tablet from my phone?
Is it even possible?
I was in bed last night and wanted to do something on my tablet, but it was downstairs, and I couldn't be arsed to get it, this is my main reason for it.
Thanks

Try this
JUMP DESKTOP
Handy of I need to access my PC, but I want to be able to access my nexus7 from my phone if possible? By access I mean control apps etc...

You could try AirDroid.
Install on Tablet, then access via the browser on your phone...
There are 2 Apps:
RemoDroid
Tablet Remote
But both are pretty slow and worthless..
Tablet Remote is probably the better of the two, speed and reliability wise, but basic
Think both require root, but maybe just RemoDroid.. not sure...
You could also try Installing VNC Server on your Tablet, then a VNC Viewer on your phone..
Would probably work better the other way around since your Tablet is larger.
I'd give a try to a vnc, as it has already been suggested
Remote control the tablet from the phone.
This won't be a typical RDC setup. I love Jump desktop but it won't do this unless he sets up a RDC server.

By far the best in my experience is Teamviewer. A personal license is completely free with no ads, and it works great with both Windows 7 and 8. I do not own any Macs and I am not running Linux at the moment so I cannot speak for how well it works on those platforms, but I really recommend you give Teamviewer a try.

Is the Surface RT able to remote control Android?

I bought my surface without thinking of how addicted to Android I am. That was a few months ago. Way to late to the return the device now, so I'm wondering if there is any way I can remote control my Nexus 7 or 4 with the surface. This would help out with the lack of apps and help me use some apps that I can't live without.
I know Blue Stacks might come out next year, but I'm looking for a solution now. I wish I could just throw an Android ROM on here.
Thanks guys!

I use bluestacks on my desktop and RDP to my tablet with it. That even preserves multitouch.
As far as remotely controlling a tablet, there's a VNC client ported over (go check the desktop apps thread in Dev & Hacking), and you can get a VNC server on Android.

yeah, you can use the TeamViewer to control your RT
Install VNC Server on your Android device:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.schumi.vncs
You can then use your IE browser to connect and control your Android device.
It's quite easy. I do it occasionally.

TeamViewer remote control

Looks like TeamViewer only does screen sharing on the Pixel XL. Anyone managed to do real remote control of the Pixel XL? Is it, by any chance, because I am not rooted?
I've only used it to control PC which works A OK, I know this is not much use to you but I had to comment that I dig you Avatar "Anti-distinctly-minty-monetarism..."
TeamViewer From my past knowledge of it was only intended to be used to control computers and not phones. It never had that feature.
If it did then it would most certainly require root.
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
TeamViewer on your pc can access most Android phones. With regards to the Google Pixel, TeamViewer has sent in a request for authorization however Google has not accepted it. If they don't in the next few months then it probably won't happen. I believe Google denied TeamViewer access to the most recent Nexus lineup.
Teamviewer allows full control of the phone when using many Samsung devices. Pixel isn't supported and will only do screen mirroring (no interaction). Google didn't want to give TV access to the necessary code.

I have the same issue. Cannot control my mother's Pixel 2 via TeamViewer. Screen sharing only, no control. However, AirDroid does allow mirroring WITH control, without root, even in their free version. Not as good as TeamViewer, but better than nothing!
You will have to enable Developer options (google it), enable USB debugging, and connect the phone by wire to the computer once. Thereafter, none of that is necessary, and fully functional mirroring works well enough.
However, I have just lost this ability for no apparent reason and AirDroid wants me to repeat the setup process. Not easy, with my 95 year old mother in another state. Hopefully I can walk her through it, using Teamviewer to see what she sees, telling her what to touch.
I sure hope TeamViewer gets what they need from Google to fully support this badly needed feature on Pixel and Pixel 2!!! My wife and my mom will both appreciate it, too.
Ron
Alpha VNC Lite does it without root! It's just a VNC server. The mouse and touch support are slow, but they work okay. On slower phones it's really painful, but on the Pixel it's fine. it's a bit pricey at $7 PER PHONE, but worth it if you need it.

AnyDesk works perfect on Pixel and Android phones (and PCs)!

I realize this is an old thread but, I just recently upgraded to a Pixel 2 (for $120 on Amazon) and when I recommended the Pixel family of phones (my new favorite phone, damn Google really does an excellent job with the entire user experience) now I'm wanting to remote into friends and families Pixel phones, and TeamViewer doesn't allow this!!!
I'm a long time TeamViewer user, and was really dissappointed about the lack of control on Pixel phones since I was able to control my LG and Samsung phones. TeamViewer's explanation about needing Google's authorization/help seemed like a reasonable and unavoidable issue that was out of TeamViewer's hands.
Then I happened along AnyDesk and OMG, it's a showstopper, it's so fast and capable I was blown away. At first it only offered "view only as well." But when I opened it a second time it asked about installing a Plug-in that would allow full control. Sure enough, I can remote into my phone from another Android phone or my computer. And the control is amazing. The Plugin is called "AnyDesk control plugin (ad1)" since I can't post a link.
I've since "upgraded" all my computers to AnyDesk from TeamViewer. In my opinion it is MUCH faster and more responsive, and CRAZY easy to setup and use. TeamViewer really was making the whole process more convoluted then necessary. Now it feels like I can instantly log into whatever PC or phone I want, so easy and fast compared to TeamViewer!!! Loving AnyDesk, and I highly recommend it!
