Galaxy Note 510 is a SIM version available for PRE Order for Rs. 30900 ($ 570.64). Is it worth buying?
Book Cover worth 2600 is free with pre order. Should i pre order or w8 for other tablets?

"Is it worth buying?". Nobody can answer that question for you. Everybody has different expectations, budgets, preferences. There are plenty of reviews and comments on these forums, and elsewhere online. Read up, and formulate your own decision.
As far as upcoming devices, as far as I know, a new Nexus7 is only rumored to be coming in 3 months or so. But just a rumor, and we don't know anything about the specs. People are also talking about a new iPad Mini. But I personally do not prefer the iOS closed ecosystem. Plus, Apple is pretty much on a yearly refresh cycle for its products. So we probably won't see a new Mini until close to Christmas. Again, we also don't know anything about it. So something unknown and not coming for over 6 months is not really a "competitor" to what you can buy now (or very soon, in your case).
In any case, I expect the next N7 and iPad Mini to continue to push the budget/mid or low range tablet market. Guessing that specs would be comparable to the Note 8. Maybe a tiny bit better in some specs as technologies progress, but nothing that will blow the Note 8 away or make it obsolete.
Its a great tablet. My opinion, the best tablet you can get in a 7-8" form factor at the present time. The rest is up to you.

Don't know how the price of these devices varies in your country versus US. But I imagine its at least proportional.
People keep commenting that the Note 9 is "over priced" or "expensive". I think that is crap. The only reason people say that is because of the release of low priced "budget" tablets like the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire, that are gimped for features. Decent devices, but they sacrifice features to get a low "entry" price for the masses. Yes the Nexus 7, for example, is $200 US cheaper than the Note 8. But the N7 lacks a rear facing camera, removable SD, pen support as well as having a older/slower CPU, less RAM, and a smaller screen.
A better point of comparison might be the iPad Mini, which is $70 cheaper than the Note 8. Not a huge difference. Yes, Apple has a talent for charging a premium for their devices. But again, the Note 8 has it beat for many features, including pen support, removable SD, and a lot more RAM (2 GB vs. 512 MB).
I paid a hefty premium of $499 for the HTC Flyer back in the summer of 2011. Didn't regret a penny. Similar in many ways philosophically to the Note 8, with pen support, great specs for its time, a full list of features, and an incredibly premium look and feel. Yes, the Flyer's price is a lot of what held it back. But I loved the thing. It now shows its age, and I've moved on to it for the Note 8. But I held onto it for a long time, simply because the other 7-8" form factor tablets were all in the "budget" range and simply didn't seem like much of an upgrade. Faster CPU and more RAM, but a lot less features.
The Note 8 is a premium device. Its thin, light and sexy (actually weighs less than the N7, despite having a significantly larger screen). Its jam packed with features and high specs (maybe not the type of specs that would blow you away, but still great) and meant to appeal to enthusiasts, not the budget conscious. And this is XDA. When the heck has this been a place for people who buy middle of the road devices at budget prices? This is a place for tech geeks, the type of people that the Note 8 was made for. Yet so many complaints about the Note 8 being "over priced".

Also if i get the 3g version will the battery drain much faster? battery is 4,600 mAh.\ on 3g version.

The Note 8.0 is a great device but you must keep it in mind, it is a premium product. The Main reason it costs more than the iPad Mini is that it has better specs but more importantly the Wacom Digitizer.
If you don't really have much need for the S-pen and don't need 3G, I believe a Nexus 7 would be a better choice for you.(Now that it is officially launched in India)It is pretty good in Gaming and Tegra 3 isn't fading away soon. It costs only half of the Note 8.0.
Heck I would have probably bought it, but no pen input+lack of TV-out turned it down.
If you don't use the 3G, (put it on airplane mode0, consumption would be same as Wi-Fi model

Ya i thought of buying N7 and Tab 2 7.But both are one year old. Also N7 doesn't have expandable memory. Tab 2 7 has weak specs for gaming. So planning to buy Note 8. My main usage is games, you tube, videos.

Look at the 32 GB Version of the N7, I don't think you will be able to cross that Space limit, unless you fill up the Tab with Movies you watched once, and never intend to again. It is available for 19K at Play store now.
Tab2 is certainly anemic in terms of power, but the n7 can still hold its own. If you really ever need to get more storage, USB-OTG can be used.
If you don't require the S-pen , 12 K price difference is a lot for just expandable Memory.
BTW, you can also look at some lower tier brands (Like iBerry, it comes with same CPU/GPU as the Note 8.0.....10 inch....for 18K....3G)

I'm not much of a tablet gamer. But comments on other threads seem to indicate that gaming performance is quite good.
"Is it future proof" is another question that is impossible to answer. If I just say "yes" will it make you happy? haha
It depends on how you use your tablet, how you like to spend your money, how critical performance is to you. "Is it future proof" is purely a matter of personal opinion and preference.
As I mentioned above, I don't see any tablets in this size range really exceeding the Note 8's specs by much (if at all) in the coming year. The trend for tablets in the 7-8" form factor seems to be mid-range specs on cheap tablets to get them into as many hands as possible. This is the first real premium tablet in this size range for some time. And I don't expect any of the major manufacturers to jump in with more premium quality tablets any time soon.
If you want to talk about how future-proof this device is, versus "cheaper" tablets that are presently available, the Note 8 blows them away. The Nexus 7, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, and Kindle Fire HD are already all obsolete in comparison. So I find it a bit odd that you are talking about how expensive the Note 8 is one minute, then asking how future proof it is, the next minute.

Obviously, transmitting data over thousands of feet uses significantly more battery than transmitting 50 feet. How much faster, I have no idea. I only have the WiFi version.

Yes absolutely, the minute I can get my hands-on it(quite literally).
But I am certainly not pre-ordering anything. The First week of May, I can probably check it out nicely at Croma and probably even buy it at a lower price, or at other local Mobile Shops.

Yes...go for it. I' ve replaced my Note 2. 7' Tab is small and 10' is too big for me. 8' Note is not mass market product, but just in between Note 2 and Note 10 solution with perfect performance and everyday use/ carry around. I use it as well as my primary phone, navigation, multimedia and personal computer.
The "problem" you see here relates more to the very niche market for a device like this in its price range when compared next to something like the Nexus 7 and even Samsung's other 7 inch tablet. So on price alone, its going to struggle a little when you have so many quality options for half the price in many cases. For example, the iPad mini is $100 less, you could buy 2 Nexus 7 16GBs, or hell, I've seen referb Nook Colors going for $60 so you could almost buy 7 of the damn things. What they all lack, however, and what sets this apart for those that need the feature is the Wacom digitizer. Yes, that little pen is the source of the fuss. If you're the sort of person who values hand written notes or loves to doodle in a way that no other tablet in this form factor is capable of (even with a third party stylus), then thats all the reason you need to pick up the Note 8. Other reasons would include the super thin body or large screen size (or you have some creepy love of IR blasters), but the pen is the point here.
This all means, sadly, that we won't ever enjoy the flood of rom options other devices enjoy. Sure, there will be some in time, but I'm not holding out for a solid, feature filled port of Paranoid Android. Instead, I'm doing with the majority of Android users are and just making due with what I have and honestly, the things I love outnumber the things I hate about TouchWiz.
At this point, I can't see myself ever going back to a "normal" tablet again (which will really suck if they don't make another one lol).

I helped organize a Nexus 7 32gb 3G for my mother, and was suitably impressed with it.
I also own a HTC Sensation... which I was also suitably impressed with 2 years ago when I bought it.
I also have to my name an i5 Desktop + Wacom Cintiq 12wx.
So, yes, you guessed it... I like digital art / image manipulation. I also enjoy keeping journals and 'writing' stories... yes, WRITING, not 'typing'... when I sit infront of a keyboard and see the words spill from my fingertips in clinical neat text, it kinda kills the creative process for me...
So you can understand that the note 8.0 *BLEW ME AWAY*
It's as if someone out there decided to design a device *just for me*. It's the perfect size, perfect weight, so comfortable to hold, handwriting recognition is superb, and the sensitivity of the S Pen is second only to the Cintiq experience...
All i need is a means to fine tune the sensitivity of the S Pen for my drawing style and I believe I would actually prefer the Note 8.0 over the Desktop+Cintiq as a drawing medium.. I've only had the tablet for a few days, so I may still be able to figure out how to do this. If, however, the calibration must stay as it is... it is still an excellent drawing experience and, as I said, second only to using a full-blown Cintiq.
Like others here I'll never be buying a tablet again that doesn't at least match the features and convenience of the Note 8.0.
I'm very excited to see what they do with the Note 8.0 v2 + v3... and if for some odd reason, this is the first and last in the series... I'll be keeping this tablet... and keeping my eyes open for developments in the Surface Pro line (it's still too bulky/heavy to be a concideration for me at this point in time).
Bottom line:
Are you an artist / designer and do you prefer handwriting over typing?
If yes, then I can see no better option for you in this form factor. The price is well justified.
If no, then although it is a superb tablet that trumps the Nexus 7 in every way... the price will be hard to justify. If you're not going to put the Wacom Digitizer to work for you, then only buy this tablet if you have money to burn.

As others have said. The price of the Note is almost purely based on the Spen / digitizer technology with in it. To decide if it is worth it, you need to decide if the added functionality that technology brings is of benefit to you.
If you dont draw, or dont think you will be taking hand writen notes, then there may be little benefit of this tablet over a cheaper android alternative. My advice is, if you want to use the Spen, then the Note 8.0 is the perfect companion, if you dont, wait for the new NEXUS to be announced and either buy the older 7 at a discount or wait for the newer one (or do the same with the ipad mini. cant be too long before a newer version is announced).

Thanks for the link! After reading that... I'm a little nervous about possibly screwing up the sensitivity that I have - after all, there's nothing *wrong* with my pen, it's not wonky at all... I just would love to be able to map out the pressure gradient curve like I can do via software for each of my Cintiq pens (I have them all - Airbrush, 6D Artpen, Grip Pen and Classic)... So I'm going to continue looking for a software solution. But if one doesn't turn up, I'll probably buy an extra S Pen to fiddle with mechanically.

Do you own any other Apple products? Have you already made significant purchases in the Apple app store you want to use on your tablet?
If not, and it's just a case of which is the better tablet... Go for the Note 8.0.
In my opinion, the iPad Mini and GNote 8.0 are not even in the same class of device.
iPad Mini is appropriate for the mass-market consumer who is primarily concerned with consuming content. It's easy to use, especially for people who are not all that technologically skilled.
GNote 8.0 is aimed at power users, creative professionals, and discerning creative hobbyists who are primarily concerned with *creating* content... but who also want a top class media consumption device as well.
If you have any interest in creating content, then it's a no-brainer.
But like I said, if you aren't really going to use the Wacom Digitizer all that much... then the iPad mini could be the right device for you... even though it makes me cringe recommending an Apple product to anybody.

You need to check with whoever you are buying from. As far as I was aware, the gift card was only available to US residents.
As I live in South Africa, I got other extras... such as a free Official Stand Pouch, a 16gb MicroSD card, 2 year warranty, and two months free internet with MWeb (which i'm not using as I'm with another service provider - I bought mine outright, i.e. not on contract).

Bingo. The Android tablet market is dominated by low priced, low spec devices (at least in the 7 to 8 inch form factor). And this has worked to get Android tablets into people's hands and steal market share from the iPad. The N8 is targeted towards users who actually value a premium device, and are willing to pay a bit more. Unfortunately, we are in the minority.
Yes, the N8 is not going to sell in huge numbers, and that means less developer interest. But all that is needed is a few good developers. We already have some good looking contributions, and this will continue to grow. My previous tablet was the HTC Flyer, which arguably had a worse market penetration problem than the N8 has. The Flyer was more expensive ($499 US at release), and the tablet market was much less mature at the time (much less people interested in buying tablets). The Flyer sold in very low numbers. But even so, it had a fair number of very good developers, and a decent number of ROMs. More than sufficient, IMHO. In the end, you don't need dozens of ROMs. Just a decent selection of good ones.
I don't see the trend towards cheap Android tablets changing anytime soon. The Note 8 is easily the best Android tablet around in the "smaller" (7 to 8 inch) form factor, and I'm willing to bet that will remain the case for some time.
That is just it. This tablet is NOT just about the pen. It is a really fast tablet too. Much faster then the Nexus 7 or just about any other tablet out right now. It is smooooth. The screen is the perfect size too. I had a Nexus 7 and returned it because I couldn't stand how slow it was. I have a note 2 and it is nice to actually have a screen large enough that the multi window feature may actually get some use too.
As a consumer, I love my Note 8 (speedy, responsive, relatively okay battery life, etc everything else ppl said)
As an Android/Linux dev, I lament the fact that because this thing costs so much, it is just statistically less likely to get huge momentum behind it.
I don't know, from a practical point of view this tablet is a better buy than an ipad mini. It does cost a little more than an entry level mini but does the mini have expandable storage, usb otg support, multi windows and a pressure sensitive stylus. If I were Joe Public I'd certainly consider getting one as it offers quite a bit more value for just a little extra investment.

I sold my Note 2 ans Ipad Mini 64GB and replaced them with a Note 8.0 w/ 64GB SDCard and am much happier now.
As for the $25.00 Play Store credit , That is for the WiFi model only checks serial # ( US Only ? ) . 3G versions do not qualify.
So, basically, I'm in the process of quitting smoking. As a "congratulations" type gift, my parents are purchasing me a tablet. I'm stuck choosing between the Nexus 7 (2013) and the Galaxy Note 8.0 right now. I already know the Nexus is worth the money, but I like the features and such on the Note.
If you saw my other thread asking about ROMs for a Note, that was part of trying to make my decision. Now that I've seen that I can keep the functionality, gain some more, and improve performance, I have to decide if it's going to be it or the Nexus.
At $330, is the Galaxy Note 8.0 worth the money at this point in its life cycle? Please try to avoid just straight yes or no answers, I would love you to elaborate. I know it also depends what I'm using it for, so just assume that I like to draw, am not fantastic at it but it's a fun hobby, and I would make use of the office suite included.

Thanks very much for your input. At Best Buy here, the Note 8.0 is $330, but I'm Canadian so that's just the crappy exchange rate.
I've done extensive reading on both of these tablets, and that's something that really stood out, just how much more functionality the Note has over the Nexus. The SD card slot is a huge thing, too. Being able to spend $40 and slap a 64gb class 10 MicroSD card in it would be nice. Speed wise, I heard TouchWiz can be laggy, get hung up here and there, but that custom ROMs fix that with improved performance, removing some bloatware, etc.
As it stands, I'm still slightly on the fence between the two, but I'm leaning toward the Note. I figure I don't need to make this thread in the Nexus forums, because I already know the Nexus is worth the money (minus that there's no SD card slot) and it's got its own advantages. IMHO, the only reason to chose a Note 8.0 over a Nexus 7 is the stylus/handwriting recognition. it's what makes the Note truly unique the 7-8" tablet range. If pen computing is 'nice, but not essential', then go with the Nexus 7. It's cheaper, a better screen, just as powerful, and slightly better battery life. The speakers suck compared to the Note, but then most people use headphones or powered speakers than listen to the tablet 'naked'.

Thanks muchly for your input! From what I've heard, the speakers on the Note 8.0 are pretty crap, very tinny. That's not much of a concern though because, as you said, headphones or external speakers are what I'd be using when I'm using it for movies or music.
For me, the advantages from the stylus are that I can use it to draw, to learn to draw because kindergarten kids probably do better work lol, and various small functions like improved web browsing and such. I've also got a thing for teaching myself random things because... well... I'm a nerd lol, so the S pen will be good for general stylus uses in that regard as well, like highlighting, etc.
Now, one thing I've noticed is people talk so much about how the Nexus 7 has a much better display and that text is hard to read on the Note 8.0. However... if you look at reviews from before the Nexus 7 or iPad Mini Retina came out, you see everybody saying how nice the display looks and how easy it is to read all sizes of text. To me, that says that focusing on the resolution and the PPI is more a marketing scheme than anything. Don't get me wrong, the Nexus 7 and iPad Mini Retina DO have sharper screens, the numbers don't lie, but the people talking about those numbers tend to exaggerate just how much a difference it is.
I have the note and my wife has the nexus. I much prefer my note over hers. The extra inch of screen males a huge difference. I also use the pen a lot at work highlighting material, writing logs but mostly writing on pictures.
The resolution on the nexus is better but the functionality of the pen makes this the tablet to have IMHO.

Well I paid half price before Christmas for a new boxed 5110 and in January half price for a new boxed SGH-i467. Could not touch those deals with any other product that is like the Note 8.0. Though there is not many like it to choose from.
Well, it's decided! You've all helped me solidify my thoughts about the Note 8.0, I'm not just crazy and making myself think it's good. That's what I'm getting then! I'll just have to figure out how to get updates manually, since in Canada we don't seem to get them very fast. From what I've heard, we don't even have 4.2.2 available for OTA updates here.
If I were buying a tablet now, I'd highly consider the Tab Pro 8.4, which was just released in the US yesterday for $399.
It looks to be everything the Note 8 is, except with a much nicer screen and an updated processor; but no pen. Although personally, I found I don't even use the pen on the N8.
The N8 is a great tablet, and I use it every day, sometimes for hours. But its getting close to last gen specs, having been released April 2013. And I typically don't recommend buying last gen technology.

I would certainly consider the Tab Pro 8.4, but my problem is price. I'm stuck with a firm $350 price limit (tax not included), and it's unfortunate because an extra $50 would open up my options immensely, but beggars can't be choosers right?

You should have quit smoking earlier, then you would have plenty of money (those things are expensive!!!).
But seriously, I realize everyone has different budget requirements (one of the main reasons your question "is the N8 worth the money" is ultimately a decision only you can make). But to me, an extra $100 to get the new generation hardware (versus something almost a year old), is a bargain. Although if you think you will use the pen, that is obviously a consideration as well.

Like nrage, I had both at the holidays. First I had the new Nexus 7 lte, and I was wondering what I might be missing with the note 8, so I bought one of them and compared. I kept the Note 8 simply due to the larger screen, and the sd card slot. I figured, I can always tether for data, and I didn't see much difference in the screens side by side, or the audio side by side.
Also, the Note 8 will be getting kitkat 4.4.

I was kind of having the same thoughts. I recently saw a Note 8.0 and a Nexus 7 in a local computer store, and the screens aren't that different in quality. In fact, I liked the Note screen better, because it was bigger and more accurate with colors, and still very clear. The SD card slot is a big thing too, that's for sure. As for the Note 8.0 getting KitKat, that's a good thing I suppose. I don't know that it'll improve it much, or how long it'll take before we get it in Canada (we still don't have 4.2.2 on Note 8.0 here, I believe), but one can hope.
I wish you woud have posted this back in August. I bought my note 8 from staples for $240 with tax and be honest the note 8 is going to updated to kitkat soon.

For someone who just bought this note yesterday l will say it is worth the money as there are no other Comparable tablet you can find and left for a hander the handwriting recognition is superb.

My mom smoked her whole life. I fought with her to quit since I was 16. She died of a heart attack. Lung cancer doesn't always get you. For her it was periph. artery disease- she couldn't walk more than 20 feet at once, and emphysema, and a clogged heart that got her in the end. Very poor quality of life for her last 10 years. :crying: I am a nurse and witnessed an autopsy of a smoker with lung cancer. Very ugly.

I was planning on buying nexus 7, but then prices for tab pro 8.4 have dropped, if google nexus 7 lte costs 350$, then why not add some and buy samsung tablet with better performance, better screen and micro sd slot and many more advantages.
But from what i see, modrianlte is very short on customization,wifi version has some support at least, but lte has like 1-2 custom rom available, no custom kernels. Is the reason for such lack of customization because its too early ? Or the tablet isnt just popular enough ?
I'd like to know the same. The galaxy tab pro 8.4 looks like the closest thing to the perfect tablet to me, with the nexus 8 being somewhat a little further away. I'd love to get it asap as the price here in Sweden is almost identical to the "big" nexus 7 while being significantly better spec'd . so I'm hoping the lack of development (and dedicated forums for the different gtab pro iterations) is due to the young age of the device. Maybe someone with some more insight can shed some light on this
Keep in mind this tablet is having a bit of a short lifespan unfortunately. Blame Samsung.
Here in Canada, it's no longer available for purchase anymore and I had a HELL of a time finding the "white" Samsung OEM case for my white Tab Pro 8.4
I live in the largest city in Canada and only ONE store still had the white cases, and they only had 3 or 4 of them left, all for full MSRP price...
It's a great tablet, but IMO Samsung is a bit of a foolish company. I don't know which idiot (maybe someone in marketing) thought it would be good to release the Tab S just 3 months after general availability of the Tab PRO.
This is my first Samsung product since the Nexus S and probably my last (not due to product quality, but due to Samsung being a foolish company).
well that **** my upgrading plans. Good for them. New Revision, slightly worse specs, higher price. Now what. I love the N7 but its just a little bit too small and apart from the T320 there isnt really anything that compares by a long shot in the 8-9" range.

don't get me wrong, i love my Tab Pro 8.4, but i think i just have to get accustomed to using it stock (or stock + root) rather than having a HUGE selection of ROMs/kernels like my Nexus 4
my thoughts exactly. Im coming from 1st gen n7 and the n4 and im addicted to flashing sth new almost weekly so of course im used to a lot there and id never expect anything close to the variety of roms and generaly development on a the galaxy tab series. But as it is probably the most bought tablet series out there i was hoping for there atleast to be a certain amount development for it. With Google taking so long and this being such an incredible deal for the money i had hoped that that would stoke development for the tab pro here on xda.

Nope. Your criteria is very similar to my own! Before this tab became widely available, I was going to get the LG g pad 8.3,but its hardware is worse than the tab pro obviously. Especially the screen, ugh.
Basically, for 8" tabs it's either this or the Tab S.
BTW I think from a "sales" point of view, there are more galaxy tab 3's and 4's out there... But let's be honest even if more people have those (which in turn causes more development) their hardware is pathetic for anyone over the age of 10, lol

Most unpleasant situation would be would be if idiotic samsung sold all Tabs and stopped producing.
Buy used one from swappa or CL. Then sell it when Nexus 8/9 comes out. I traded my N7 2012 for $50 GC and after all the deals/coupons/perks the tab pro cost me $240. I don't care about custom roms on tablet , all I care about is root. But on my phone I need latest the Android version so my next phone is going to be a Nexus.
I think that once you change the launcher and freeze a few apps the tab runs pretty good and you can even root it if you want. Nexus 7 is good but still smaller screen, lower resolution and slower CPU. There are a couple stockish ROM and CM for the models using a Qualcomm CPU, I find the situation not so bad looking at how young the tablets are,

All just rumor for the time being, but if the Nexus 8 is going to be at the $400 price point, I would wager it would be with impressive specs and features. Yes, the Nexus 7 had a "budget" set of specs and features, but also appeals to a much lower price point (currently $229, release was $299 I believe?). Rumor also has it that its being made by HTC, which makes arguably the most beautiful smartphones around, and briefly did so with tablets. So the build quality may rival or even surpass the iPads (in my opinion the HTC M7 and M8 easily surpass the current iPhones).
I for one am happy to see the "race to the bottom" on price for small form factor Android tablets started by Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire has somewhat cooled down. Manufacturers are started to recognize that some folks actually want quality, not just cheap.

I didn't mind paying $399 for the Pro 8.4 soon after release. The exterior design isn't quite as high-end as the Ipad Mini, but it has a higher resolution screen, MicroSD, etc.
More importantly, I'm not interested in the closed Apple ecosystem. The iPad was never a real contender for me.
But I also realize and agree that the mass market is not going to see it that way. To many, a tablet is a tablet (many don't distinguish or even understand the difference between Android and iOS); and furthermore Apple has more brand recognition and respect than Android (to the masses). Android tablets need to either carry more features and/or come in at a lower price point than the iPad in order to sell.

Anyway, iOS has more exclusive content than android, some fine games, apps first come out in the AppStore, then Android, but sometimes developers refuse to make an android version, or crappy android port.
For example, a fun app called ElfYourself was first to come out in iOS then it was ported to android, but to compare both official apps android version looks crappy, laggy, lacks some features, it was probably ported by some other developers.
That's why i want iOS tablet.

If you want to talk about very particular apps and games, than yes iOS has more "exclusive" content. But there are plenty of apps for any purpose on Android, whether it be games, utilities, etc. Seriously, both iTunes and Play Store currently boast over 1.2 million apps. It used to be a big deal for iTunes to tout there number of apps when it was 50,000 or 60,000 etc. But honestly, once it went into the tens of thousands, why does it even matter? A few dozen good ones is enough. You don't even hear Apple or Google mention the total number of apps anymore, because its now irrelevant.
Yes, the quality is not always there (and there is a lot of crap to dredge through on the Play Store), but its getting better. Fact of the matter is that iOS users spend more money on apps. But on the other hand, developers can no longer ignore the fact that Android now has more market share (at least for phones) than iOS in the US (and its not even close globally). They simply can no longer ignore that customer base.
If you like iOS, then fine. Apple makes fine devices. But I personally can't stand how Apple dictates what the customer wants; instead of listening to what the public wants. How the OS looks, how it works, the device form factor (Steve Jobs "Nobody is going to buy a big phone"). iOS has hardly changed since it began. And the biggest changes to the OS appearance have actually largely stolen from HTC Sense, of all things (talk about coming full circle!). It took what, 3 or 4 years for Apple to even let folks change their wallpaper background on the iPhone? Come on!
I'm not a fan of iOS, im just trying to make point for myself, maybe you are right, maybe my infos are outdated. I just don't do much gaming or surfing or even use many kind of apps, cuz of tiny screen of the phone, that what i want to change by buying a tablet

I'm not saying you are wrong about the apps (at least particular apps or ports). iOS certainly does get more attention from software developers. And if your goal is particular apps, games, etc. than you might not be happy with an Android tablet. As you mentioned, they don't all come to Android. And if they do, they sometimes don'r run as smoothly or get updated as often as the iOS counterparts.
But for me, there are plenty of great apps to keep me busy. I'm not a big gamer (but play a few sometimes) and most often use my tablet to web browse, read books, comics, and watch Netflix and other videos.
I'm also a big user of various Google services (Gmail, Calendar, Google Maps), and their integration into Android simply has no comparison.

From the Dozens and dozens of reviews I have read in journals and seen on Youtube etc, the one big negative they all comment on is the price of the Note 7?
I would hate to be a car salesman and try selling these people a car. If we want a flagship uber mobile and the Galaxy Note 7 is certainly that, then it will of course come with a price to match.
If you visit a Rolls Royce showroom and ask the price the salesperson will lose all interest in you as its an industry given that if you need to ask the price you can't afford one.
The Note 7 is expensive just the same as all top notch flag ship cars, pens watches, in fact any consumer goods you care to mention! I have read one review where said 'professional' mentioned the mobile could be priced at 500€ rather than 850€ No reason given? The profit margin on the Note 7 is nothing even close to the Apple brand yet every year people queue to purchase their new iPhones irrespective of specification and other user factors. I find this bizarre.
You like Aston martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, RR, Maybach, or Bugatti then pay. Don't want to pay then visit your local Ford, VW, Skoda or Seat showroom.

As a Note 3 owner, I was really looking forward to this phone. It started out good (Exynos 8893, 6 GB RAM, 5,8" screen, 4.000 mAh battery) but as time passed, all specs changed for the worse untill we now have the S7E Stylus Edition with IrisScanner. While you get buy incentives all over the world and even for older models, no such thing in the Netherlands.. We didn't even got the Note 5 here, so the Note 4 was the last true Note. Only when the Note 7 was introduced, almost every store suddenly sold out their Note 4's.

Wrong!!! salespeople will have lost interest in such a person, because he/she probably is not stupid, has a brain, and wants to spend money wisely.
they are looking for silly people that do not know how to use the calculator, and fall into brand "promises". By the way, the job of the salesperson is to sell. If he/she looses interest in you, they should be fired, as they are not doing their job.
the Note 7 is terribly overpriced.
850 EUR for a phone with programmed obsolesce (non-removable glued battery, when in many samsung phones it lasts 1 year and then degrades and causes reboots/shutdowns, see threads in Note 4 forum), curved screen that we do not want; mediocre specs (just 4GB ram and 6 months old chipset).
Add to that the display that scratches easily (in a 850 EUR device),
and you will soon realize that you have thrown 850 EUR away.
there are some great devices that have similar or better specs, and price half of the cost:
ZTE Axon 7 450 EUR
OP3 400 EUR.
if you ask for the price, that does not mean you cannot afford something.
that may mean you are not accustomed to throw money away.

I agree with you. Not only, why does samsung sell just an "enhanced" S7 "note version" close to the end of the year? It will be an obsolete one in a few months...

Add the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe if it ever arrives on the market and the Nexus Marlin is rumoured at $599 (€600 I presume).
With Android Nougat, every phone will be able to use split screen, another Samsung-Only feature generally available.

Thanks for the reply. May I pose this to you? The Samsung Galaxy S range is a combination of three mobiles. The S7, S7 edge and Note7. The Note has NOT been introduced to replace the other S7 models but to complement them by the addition of the S-pen with larger 64GB of internal memory.
The Note 7 is not intended to appeal to all mobile phone users, its general roll is a business persons mobile.

Skipped note 5 (couldn't get it anyway). Have used a Note 4 for almost two years now. Have it modded to near perfection and it works away without any trouble.
Saw the Note 7 and that what it. Ordered and will get it early Sept.
That's how it works. As for the nay sayers: get a device you like and don't waste your energy on the negative.

As a Note 3 owner, I was really looking forward to this phone. While you get buy incentives all over the world and even for older models, no such thing in the Netherlands.. We didn't even got the Note 5 here, so the Note 4 was the last true Note. Only when the Note 7 was introduced, almost every store suddenly sold out their Note 4's.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Hyundai? Can you name an electronic device that is either not entirely made of or has parts made in Asia including Apple? If the Note 7 where manufactured in Europe or the USA we could double or triple the price.
No where did Samsung release the data you have quoted in your reply. Such crystal ball gazing has become the forte of such online mags as "Trusted reviews" that are anything but to be trusted.
Please read my above reply to our peer as I explained there the Note 7 is an addition to an existing range of Galaxy S 7's namely the S7, S7 Edge and now the Note 7. All made in Asia as are all mobile phones at present.

If all you said is true, the Note 7 won't sell the millions of phones it is expected to. IN fact, pre-release sales appear to have surpassed Samsungs original estimates and caused some delays in getting product for some areas. Apparently people do want smaller batteries, slippery glass, edged screen, non removable battery, and so on.
All kidding aside, stuff costs money. Price is determined by cost of development, materials, demand and what the market will bear. If in fact the cost is found to be too high, you will see it come down - if it is more than you want to spend and you don't like the features it does offer, simple answer is just don't buy it.
Skipped note 5, no microsd support, no changeable battery.
I use a rooted and modded note 3. It works fine. And spen is a must. Sure a business mobile.
But more ram, for me should be very useful. More widget, more long notes, more screens opened, more multitasking...
And to connect directly to an external hard disk at the moment, just a dream.
Once note series was the real samsung flagship, obviously in my modest opinion.
You purchased a note to get an hardware which would be inherited by the next S series... So an hardware lasting for 6/8 months...up to date... And you paid it a lot.
Now you're right, note is just a complement...same s series hardware...it follows the s series, but it keeps spen...
So I think it should have the same s series price...it comes a few months later with its same harware...

or, maybe it's a traditional PR gimmick for overpriced products,
to make you believe that the device is successful, when it may be the complete opposite.
My old Note 2 cost me ~$600 which was a suitable price. $600-$700 is reasonable for a flagship. Samsung priced the Note 7 at $850 to test the market. If the market bites, next year it will be $900. If people don't buy they'll lower the price. Also by selling at a a high price you automatically imply the product is extremely high end and premium, further increasing exclusivity and demand. Owning a Note 7 is supposed to be a statement of wealth because everyone will know you paid a big amount for it. Samsung is trying to replicate Apple's business model. Owning an Apple product is a statement of wealth, at least if you are a consumerist. Those of us who aren't consumerists will see through the marketing and buy whatever makes sense from a cost / performance standpoint. As far as the Note 7 goes you will see diminishing returns at around $600 since the remaining $250 is a luxury premium. The added features of a Note 7 as compared to a OnePlus 3 are worth maybe $200 to $300 tops, but not $450.
I agree, just a PR gimmick...
Samsung sold so many S7 that with scraps is making many note 7...

With respect, to write the Note 7 is the same mobile as the S7 is an error. WE both know the specs of both mobiles so I wont bore you with them. The S-pen alone has undergone major hardware and software development its now virtually at the very least a mouse. You do also realise that in this country the S7edge with 64GB is MORE expensive than the Note 7!
I am NOT suggesting the Note 7 is cheap. Its very expensive but the cost is relative to the product.
Again the Note 7 was not designed to be a replacement for the S7 edge but an addition to the S7 range.

Once it was an apart serie....
I mean a note smartphone was presented at the end of year, but still in the next half of the year was the smartphone that had to be beaten...
Now the S serie took its place...but at the beginning of the year...

Hi, We are now in the realms of pure fantasy. This is the MO of 'Trusted reviews'. The Note 7 has been delayed for release in several countries due to over demand. Only time will tell if the unit is a success or otherwise. To date its hell even trying to get one.

Samsung PR tells you it is "due to over demand", and you believe it.
i wouldn't, as you can't really verify it.
as i read from the forums, the 2nd biggest operator here has been given only 1000 Note 7s for the whole country. This is nothing.
The strategy is the following:
1) you dedicate miserable quantity of the product for pre-sale;
2) it gets reserved quickly (as the amount is MISERABLY LOW);
3) you declare "all pre-sale done!!! huge success!! over demand!!!"
4) naive people, and those that do not question PR gimmicks, believe it, and rush to buy...
i repeat, Note 7, grossly overpriced at 850 EUR, with unwanted curved screen, non-removable battery, mediocre RAM amount, and with the screen that scratches easily, is NOT going to sell like hot cakes, NOT AT ALL.
The majority of reviews I've read (and I've read a lot) have been overwhelmingly positive. Forbes was tough on the Note7 but Forbes' opinion on technology isn't incredibly valid. AnandTech's biggest issue was lack of symmetry because the cutouts for the cameras and ports weren't aligned with each other. If that's all a tough grading uber-technical site like AnandTech can fault then the Note7 must be pretty good.

Note 7 is one of the priciest mobile devices ever sold by Samsung where, there were already many dissatisfied customers because of its price point, however, in light of the recent events that surrounded the release and the recall of Note 7 series do you think that Samsung will cut the price when they re-release the Note 7 "expected in October" ?
One point to consider is that IPhone 7 will be announced tomorrow and will be released at the same time as Note 7 if not sooner! and as we all know, one of the reasons that made Samsung advance the release date of the note series is to avoid direct competition with Apple.
What do you think? should we return our phones and get a refund and wait until Samsung re-release the note 7 so we can assess what would be their marketing strategy? or should we wait for Note 7 replacements?
I'm not returning it for refund. I just want a replacement. Price isn't important to me but I realise it is for some...but shouldn't those guys be looking at value brands Oneplus etc anyway without shouting Samsung is too expensives? For who? YOU?
I don't think Sammy could possibly afford to reduce the new price due to the recall but they may add extras as standard...for instance its cheaper to include a cost VR or SD card than knock £100 off!
There will also be an awful lot of remanufactured phones available shortly....no doubt going cheap!

Note 7 has a lot of issues: the unwanted curved screen, programmed obsolesce in form of the non-removable battery, fragile glass back, mediocre 4GB RAM, etc etc.
it is no longer a device that sets standards.
The fair price for Note 7 is about 500 EUR maximum.
850 EUR is just gross overpricing, it's to throw money away.
don't forget there are excellent devices like:
OnePlus 3 for 400 EUR (although the screen has low FHD resolution, and no QC3);
ZTE Axon 7 for 450 EUR (and it has amazing DACs, and dolby stereo speakers).
let's see how it goes.

I'm sure they'll do another round of promotions because it makes sense - it'll almost be like relaunching the phone. As for a price drop, why? It's a premium phone already selling below the iPhone 7. It's no less premium because of the battery recall.
I like the curved screen and prefer it.
We have battery banks, no need for removable battery. I prefer IP67 over removable battery.
Glass back for wireless charging, check.
4GB is mediocre? There's still PC's that run with 4 or even 2GB ram.
The go and buy those OP3 or A7... I care about water resistance and wirelesses charging, s pen, I even like the new TouchWiz, I love the camera of N7 and for shure I will love the phone... U are not geting any of these features in those phones so I pay more... even the build of N7 is more epic, I like the edge saying that is unwanted is ur choise... this note7 is a full package and you don't need 6 gb RAM... OP3 is a proof of that
You dont even own the Note 7. Why are you here? If you like the other brands you mention buy those why keep knocking the Note 7 as you do whenever you have the chance?
No one is going to force you to purchase the Note 7 and to keep unwisely comparing an apple with an orange just highlights your total lack of knowledge in relation to the Note 7's specifications.

Well the price in HK has been slash a fair bit. Initial Release price was $6198HKD (800USD), this morning it was 5570HKD (718USD).
The price is bearable after if I trade in Note 5, it should cover 50% of the cost.
I agree it should be around 675USD would be a reasonable price range (600EURO). I don't think they would slash price by that much until at least 6 month later.
But...
Consider that a iPhone 7 Plus is about 770/870/970USD.
I think getting the Note 7 is still hell of a deal.
none of us know what R&D Samsung have put into the device and price generally reflects a large % that.
Those saying it should cost $300 less....why? There are plenty of cheaper alternatives - buy those if they are in your price bracket.
Its a bit like buying their top of the range curve screens costing upwards of £2000. Yes there are plenty of large UHD screens on the market, but its down to personal choice and what options you need If you can afford it and will pay it, there is no competition. I looked at the price of the IP7+ and at £900 for what THAT is, that is properly overpriced! Still no notification LED!
They may bundle freebies and tweak the price a bit. If there will be significant change in price, it will upset the pre-order owners which will later have impact in their future product launch.
If you are concerned about the price variation, Samsung is offering a refund. You can take that and stay on the safe side. Each has its own preference. Unless the purchase is just for the heck of having one, then price will eventually be a big deal. As for me, if another brand can offer a model with S-pen as good as the Note series, then I may reconsider. For now, I stay with Note 7 because it makes a part of my everyday work a bit easier - signing e-docs on the fly.
In my country, Cambodia, Note 7 is only $770 (Dual sim FD). But there is no VR bonus, GearS, or SD card. $850 is a good point if you get the bonus.
Meanwhile, iPhone 7 32GB price is going to be $900-$1100, which originally is only $650 in the US. No bonus except the cheap-azz screen protector.
