I don't think it works with pre-paid plans. I think it works on the new simple choice value plans though

Ah....that sucks.

That's a student offer... I don't believe you will be able to get it through T-Mobile unless you are a student but you can try.

I did little more research to clarify my original post. The offer is not technically a "student" offer. It is an offer for Student Rate members. All you have to do is sign up for the site. You don't need a .edu email to sign up anyone can

I did this when I transferred from Sprint. It works. Btw, they were recently doing a $50 visa card if you transfer your number from another provider. Might be worth seeing if you can get into that as well, it's a mail in rebate.
You *do* have to call in. And btw, call in the morning/noonish time. After about 4-5pm PST, I think they switch call centers over to another country (one of the day CSR's told me this). I ran in circles with those people, at one point they tried to charge me an ETF for transfering TO them (from Sprint) *boggle*. Took about one hour to get my transfer put into processing. With another phone line, I called during the day and it was put into motion within 5 minutes. Same process, different call centers.

I did it entirely online. I didn't call in. All discounts reflected properly. It worked like a charm. I also confirmed via online CSR I was getting the $50.00 prepaid Visa card for porting.

I called to ask a couple of questions and CSR was very helpful. This is via the Tmobile advantage program which you qualify for by being a member of the discount site. I think I am going to transfer from my current carrier and sign up over the phone.

Everytime I bring up TMO Advantage program in livechat CSR starts flat out ignoring me
"M*** T: Hi Lily!
M*** T: We appreciate you contacting us about your discount. My pleasure to assist you in checking your eligibility. I am currently pulling up your account.
...45 minutes later, no reply. Same for every agent. wasted like 4 hours TRYING to even ASK a tmobile agent about it, after the "happy to assist bit..." no reply EVER.
J*** S: Hi Lily, I understand this concerns the advantage program, and I will be happy to assist you the best way I can.
30 minutes, no reply.
I literally just signed up so Ive been trying to ask them about the possibility to apply it to my account but if they wont even say anything how can I?

Thanks for the info, going to be saving 12 dollars a month!

T-Mobile UK, 24 month @ £10/month - free internet for only 18 months?

I was just perusing my T-Mobile account when I noticed that the "Plan Summary" section was not exactly as I expected:
Code:
100Mins&100Text(24)10 £8.51
web'n'walk Plus ([b]18[/b]) Free [b]<--- 18?!?[/b]
Monthly charge total £8.51
I was suprised that the free web'n'walk plus was only marked as "18" where my contract is for 24 months. Searching google for "web'n'walk Plus (18)" suggests that I will only get free internet for 18 months of my contract...?
Did I miss some small print somewhere? I was pretty careful to read most of it, or did I miss something / screw up my order...?
Anyone else on this plan get the same report?
UPDATE: not to worry, this seems to be a quirk of T-Mobile's billing system. Just watch out for the extra charges in 18 months!
SGTDavePwnage said:
Just called t-mobile to ask about this for you.
They say that the maximum amount of time that their systems will allow them to put the W&WPlus onto your account is 18Months at a time, after this they will simply put another W&WPlus on your account.
They confirmed that should they accidentally not put it back onto your account in 18 months time, that you would be refunded for any data usage when you raise the issue

Could it possibly refer to the content lock?? This is aimed at those 18+
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/phone-support/content-lock/
Mine shows:
My price plan
Pay monthly 10 (24 months) £8.51
Additional services
Services you currently have:
Unlimited Text Booster Free
Capped Data Rate Free
Video Calling Free
Remove Content Lock Free
Internet Plus Monthly £4.25
24 Month Upgrade Flag Free
£5.00 Loyalty Free
Total Monthly cost exc VAT £12.76
So that would be £15/month VAT included.
What happened is that they Charged me £5 for the Internet Plus option on my first bill, and after I called them they gave me £5 back, and they added the £5.00 Loyalty, Additional service which evens it out (or so I was told).
Just called t-mobile to ask about this for you.

Sprint employee discount change

I don't know if everyone heard but if you have a employee discount with Sprint get ready to pay more than you prevously did. Sprint will start applying the discount to the primary line only, not the plan. I have the family plan thats $129 I get a 15% discount which is $19.50. When this goes into effect I will be only getting 15% on $109.
I know whooppee a few extra bucks I have to pay. But if we don't say anything next will be our unlimited data.
Thanks,

Actually it hasn't. This is a new change.
The previous change was they stopped applying the discount to lines 3-5, but they did apply it to the base plan which includes both lines 1&2.
Now they are restructuring the base plan so it only includes line 1 and splitting out line #2 separate. The purpose of this restructuring is a back-door way of reducing your discount without changing the advertised percentage discount.
This is considered an ETF waiving event by Sprint. You can leave ETF-free if you'd like.

The discount applies to the initial plan, no add ons... so as a for instance, if you are paying 129.99 for your family plan with 2 people plus you both have smart phones which would give you 2 $10 premium data charges that would bring you to a grand total of 149.99 a month before tax, now that initial 129.99 is what the discount will come off of. Also if you have more phones than that you will have your additional 19.99 per phone... the discount will come off of that as well.
EDIT: I am looking into this further, I have someone on the inside who knows all about this.
I don't think you can cancel the ETF fee with this change.

I hope this email I got from a sprint rep will help you guys have a better insight into this program than me:
Your request has been approved and you will soon begin receiving Sprint discounts through State of New Jersey - Higher Education - NJ1 Contract, including:
? 15% on your Sprint monthly service charges.
These discounts are also applied to your add-on services that have a monthly service charge of $30 or more. Your discounts will be applied to the monthly service charges on the first line of your shared plane.
It takes 1 to 2 bill cycles for you to see the new discounts on your invoice. You will be able to view them under the heading "Service Discounts/Charges" with the description "Employ Discount Sprint/Nextel.

What will renew your contract?
a) there is a huge thread in this very forum that covered this topic.
b) discount is not contractual. You will not be able to get out of the contract ETF fee. You may with a lot of complaining and getting lucky with customer care roulette, but getting a discount is not part of your contract. You do have to re-sign a 2 year agreement if you add a discount in the middle of your current contract, and for people who did this, you may be able to use it to get out, but I am not sure.
c) All this changes is that you will no longer get your discount on an additional 19.99 of your plan. For people on the 129.99 EDS 1500 plan, you will be getting your discount on the first 110, and not the next 19.99. There is no other difference. So you will be losing 15% on the 19.99, which is 3 dollars per month.
d) Sprint will still be far and away the cheapest of any national provider (well, T-mo is close). The maximum this change will cost any customer is $6 per month, if they are on the 27% discount that a very limited number of companies offer.
e) If you are in an area where Sprint is really terrible, this is a convenient excuse to at least try and get out of your contract, but don't be upset if it doesn't work. The 2-6 bucks ain't gonna break anyone. I think you are very likely to get a $2-6 monthly recurring credit for the length of your current contract, and very unlikely to get waived without ETF.
I didn't want to quote your entire post, but in that other link that was just posted "Slick deals" I believe that I read that a few people did have their etf waived because of this.
In addition, people said that you wouldnt be able to get your etf waived the last time Sprint changed something, which I believe was this past July. And three people I know was able to get their etf's waived as well as a bunch of people around here.
It don't hurt to try and that's what I'm gonna do.

Just call sprint and ask them to apply corporate discount to your account. They will ask for company and then attempt to verify. They usually require an email in the form of [email protected]. Most of us that are not in the corporate ranks do not have those however. In this case they can use a copy of employee id, check stub, or other methods. Shouldn't be hard to accomplish. Hope this helps.

I know that this is a old post. But the answer is YES! Disclosure: I am the National Wireless Benefits Manager at Sprint for ALL Applebee's and IHOP (regardless of Franchisee ownership), from coast-to-coast. Employees of both Applebee's and IHOP get a 17% monthly discount off eligible charges and OTHER special savings not available to general public.
This forum will not allow me to post outside link to the Applebee's and IHOP Sprint ordering site because I'm a new member. So, private message me for those links.
You can activate ANYWHERE (Best Buy, Radio Shack, even Sprint store, etc...) and get your monthly 17% employee discount code, BUT, not all specials will be available via all channels. You should complete the below steps within the first week of new activation to get your 17% code on ASAP. Retro-credits will NOT be issued/offered for any months of discount missed.
Employees that are existing customers needing discount, follow these steps:
1. Take a pic of your recent paystub (black out all sensitive info)
2. On your smartphone go to sprint.com/verify
3. Sign in with your Sprint wireless number
5. Tap / Select “Upload a photo of your proof of eligibility”
6. Select “Pay/pension stub issued within last 90 days*”
7. Next…. > Choose file… to select that pic that you took in step 1 above… and you should know what to do with the rest
The Corporate ID for Applebee’s employees is NADIN_ABE_ZZF; for IHOP is NADIN_IHO_ZZF
And yes, if your're current contract date is not within 90 days, then you will have to agree to a new 2 year contract from the point you request the monthly discount code, BUT this will NOT AFFECT your equipment upgrade eligibility date(s). For example, your existing equipment full eligibility date is 12/2/13, you apply for the 17% Applebee's Employee discount code today 10/22/13. Your new 2 year contract date will be fulfilled on 10/21/15. But when you upgrade to another equipment on 12/2/13, you will be required to agree to a new 2 year contract from that point on, so it wipes out the old 10/21/15 date and the new 12/1/15 will be in place.
Lastly: The name of the Sprint account holder DOES NOT have to be the actual employee (Applebee's or IHOP). So, long as the Applebee's or IHOP employee will declare that he/she is using as least one line on the account, he/she can follow the same steps above. This should solve any issues of the account being under the employee's spouse's, parents', relative's name, etc...

Go talk to a rep in-store. If you signed up for another plan, while also paying full price for the GS4, you have no contract. You can cancel that plan at any time, you own the device.

Right I just mentioned that for now GS4 is unavailable for prepaid users so I had to subscribe for a contract to order it.
I did the same thing.
I have a prepaid account but I signed up for a new line and purchased the phone outright.
i know a bunch of other people on this forum did the same thing.
I am wondering if anyone canceled yet also and how they did it.
Can it be done on the live chat?
Yeah I looked on the T-Mobile site...no Galaxy S4 for prepaid phones. You have to give them your State ID and SSN to subscribe to a "no contract plan" where you pay the full price of the phone+$70/month. Which is complete bullcrap, because prepaid is the exact same thing, minus being forced to give T-Mobile your State ID/SSN for no reason at all. It's not just T-Mobile either, it's the same way with Sprint. Carriers want as much of your information as they can get; it's not enough you pay for service and the phone anymore.
My issue was much more interesting that anyone here experienced I believe.
When I ordered to my SSN and ID they haven't approve me and I was very wondering why cause I have a great credit score.
Then I contacted credit bureau and find out that my credit score fall <<400 that is unbelievable. Further speech and I realized that I've become a victim of identity theft. Now they confirmed this and recalculated my credit score as it should be. But to save time I had to order GS4 with my girfriend's papers.
Thanks GS4 that I've found identity theft so early.
The only one thing I have to do is cancel the contract once I receive it tomorrow.
So as I bought phone outright should I call somewhere to cancel it or I can just utilize sim card that I receive?
I'm also a prepaid customer, ended up buying the phone full price. Just hate the fact that even if you're paying the ful price you still have to sign up for service. I hope the only thing we have to do is give them a call and cancel the new line.

I did the same thing. I've been a prepaid customer for a year or so, and I opened a post-paid plan account so I could get the GS4. I also paid for the phone in full. I received it today and I already put my prepaid plan sim card on it. I need to cancel the post-paid plan but I'm not sure if I should do it now or wait. The sim card that came with the phone is still untouched inside the box.

If you paid full price for the phone it's only $50/mo. The other option is to pay $149 up front for the phone, then it's $70/mo.

It's only $50 if you unlimited talk/text+500MB data pool. If you want prepaid with unlimited data it's $70.

The new plan $50/mo including data. But you need to be out of contract to use it.

Ok I was thinking that it included 2.5 gb data, but that's an extra $10. So it's $60 if you want 2.5 gb or $70 if you want unlimited.

sim locked?
I ordered mine yesterday night am planning to cancel service and use the phone also out of the country. Reading carefully through threads, but cannot find an answer: is the t-mobile S4 sim-locked? If yes and I paid the full price, can I get an unlocking code from t-mobile? Thanks

Same thing with me. I am trying to decide when to cancel the new line. SIM card is untouched in the box.
Waiting to see who cancels first and how the process went.

I think my experience might rival yours in "interesting"...
I also want to use the S4 on the $30 prepaid plan, and therefore intended to go the route of buying the phone with a $50 line and then cancel it.
I tried to buy online, but it told me I needed to contact a sales rep to complete the order. After starting an online chat with a sales rep, it turned out they required me to pay an additional $400 deposit. (I am pretty sure I never had an incidence with my credit rating so I am not sure why) As I intended to move over to pre-paid, I asked about the policy of how to get back the deposit if I cancel the line before the 1 year is up after which you automatically get back the deposit. After that she started to accuse me of committing fraud! and that t-mobile is not in the business of selling phones. I then asked her how asking about cancellation would violate their new un-carrier marketing and she asked me "where I came up with such a thing as un-carrier". She then simply canceled my order and hung up on me.
I don't think I have ever been accused of committing fraud before for wanting to pay a store over $1000 to buy their product!
I then tried to order again to get a more knowledgeable and competent representative. Unfortunately this time my bank decided t-mobile was "committing fraud" because they thought a $1000 was an unreasonably large amount for a internet transaction.
After the bank unblocked my credit card, because I told them I really do want to spend that much on a phone, I tried it again. Unfortunately on the third time the "account verification department " declined my request without an explanation of why they wouldn't take my $1000.
So I spent about 3 hours on the phone with t-mobile on Monday and I still don't have a S4 I don't think I have ever had a company as adamant to not taking my money as t-mobile. Now I'll have to wait till the 15th before I can try and buy it in a store
Does anyone know what might have gone wrong, or how to convince t-mobile to sell me a phone?

That's horrible. The reps are obviously just confused with the whole new setup. Every rep I talk to gives me a different story on how/when my classic plan will convert over to the new value plan.

Reps are stupid. I would try and see if you can get it price matched at best buy and buy it there. They should since it will be off contract and you're paying full price. I just don't think they have it in stock yet.

Looks like you won't be able to do it before 15 except asking your relative/friend to do it for you, as I've done it.
Their credit dept haven't approve me since I had credit alert on my credit history due to identity fraud.
Your situation, did they tell you why you should pay 400 deposit?
Have u ever had their postpaid account before? Cause if you've never cancelled their contracts before and had no issues with credit score then I'd suggest to contact credit score bureau and figure out from there why you've been declined.

T-Mobile Student Discount Still Working

Discount works for new activations or existing users adding a new line of service
Place your order over the phone (866-464-8662) and use the promo code 13997 TMOFAV , you get 10% discount on your monthly bill + waived activation fees + free sim card + free 2 day shipping + $50 bill credit (Within 30 days of activation, send email with order number) . The customer service rep, will do a credit check, ask what plan you want, apply the discount for you, give you your order number and give you the email address to get your $50 bill credit. Say that you are a student, and or member of studentrate.com. They may ask you for your student ID number so have it ready, in my case I gave her my .edu email address.
Worked for me today.....Good Luck!
What if we made the plan already?
Dang. Doesn't work on existing plans?

Thats what im wondering.
I bought the phone outright and never activated it on T-Mobile. I'm using AT&T. I wonder if I activated now, I'd get the discount?
