How do I use the OUYA store and games on my phone? - Ouya Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I remember a long time ago, someone got the OUYA store running on a phone. Back then there were no games on the store, so it was just out of curiosity. But today there are many games on the store. So I was wondering, is there any way I could get the OUYA store on my phone, use it to download and legally buy games, and play those games with a PS3 bluetooth controller and mhl output? Effectively turning my phone into an OUYA handheld. If so, how exactly could I do that?

I think the official developers are working on this, but it's not ready just yet. It's gonna be called "OUYA Everywhere"

This is the closest you can get. Just install the apks in the zip at that link. Works on lots of devices. It isn't an official release so there are some bugs occasionally.

[Request] Use PS3 controller with Kindle Fire?

I was just curious if anyone had any ideas about if this would be possible. I know Sony recently released an update so one of their tablets could use it. Given the Fire's mini-USB port and the fact that Bluetooth is physically there, any chance we'll get to use a PS3 controller with Kindle Fire? I have never been into the touch screen controls for games like Zenonia. And I think being able to play it with a PS3 controller on Kindle Fire would be pretty sweet. I already did a few Google searches but couldn't find any information about this working.
Another great thing about this, would be that we could theoretically use the gyroscope in the PS3 controller for other stuff.
I'm still new to this scene so I'm not sure what all would be needed, but wanted to bring it up while I had it on my mind.

It's a slim possibility only if someone finds a way of getting Bluetooth to work, but even then it's down to someone to write the the code to make the PS3 controller function, and then the game either has to support it, or there needs to be a driver layer that can emulate the screen touches/gyroscope.
However, as currently the KF only supports 2 finger touch, and nobody knows if that is a hardware or firmware limitation, that might also be a show stopper.
An external joystick would be nice, but I'm thinking there are quite a number of hurdles to overcome first!
IF u had cm7 installed on ur kindle and they got the bluetooth to work then u could use ur ps3 controller on ur kindle as cm7 lets u use a app called sixxaxis which lets u sync ur ps3 controller with bluetooth to ur phone and u can play games on ur phone with ur ps3 controller. It works perfectly on my sgs2 running cm7

That is an interesting app for sure, never seen that before. It could be worth a shot if they overcome the Bluetooth limitation.
I might see if this works on my Droid, as I'm still skeptical about the button/touch emulation. However, it does have good reviews so it might be a good working solution.

I forgot about that app, but I have heard good things about it. If they can get Bluetooth then as you said, could be our solution. In fact, I'd think it'd make the process fairly easy after that.

[Q] Is there any way how to play games on TV or PC?

I know there were many topics about hidden HDMI under the cover, some people even tried to add hdmi port, I also tried to find a developer model of Xperia Play (without luck of course) with HDMI port. I know we can play videos, pictures and music through wifi in official app, but that's all I know. I also read about no MHL support even with Android 4+, cause it's a hardware problem, is it true?
So I'm asking is there any way how to play games on TV or PC for example through wifi (or something else?) or not?
It's not a hardware problem, it just doesn't exist.
There were early pre released play devices that did have HDMI out, but I don't think it's possible to get your hand on them, it would be a collector item if you can even find anyone willing to sell it.
What you should do is buy an Ouya or an Android TV stick, then use a wireless or Bluetooth controller. Or get an nVidia Shield.

[Q] A few questions about Fire TV

Here is what my needs are :
Netflix
XBMC reading files off a NAS/SMB or USB drive, or some other video player
Some emulators using a Ps3 controller.
Is this still a good solution for this, or should I just go with something like this - http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00OTK8OZ0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1F1P6OW46LBLQ
My wife is in the States this week so I can get her to pick a Fire TV up.
Thanks.
Netflix/xbmc/smb/nas all fine and run great. I would recommend spmc over kodi/xbmc though, but try both.
videos from USB drive can be done but only with root and StickMount. Root is only possible on older fire tvs. If this is something you want/need, maybe ask your wife to check the serial numbers on the boxes shes finds (my gf would just laugh at me if I asked ;P). Here is a guide: http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-decode-an-amazon-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick-serial-number/
PS3 controller can be paired with an aftv, but also required root access and has some slight annoyances (like needing to launch the sixasis app first before each use and stopping it after each use, plus the remote doesn't work at the same time). Thread about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2710632
But you have other options. PS4 controller works better, and I think does not need root. 360 controller (which I know has a crappy d-pad for emulators) or the official controller. Or even something like the NES30.
I can't speak to the box you linked, but I love my fire tv! If you are flexible on the PS3 controller, then you I think you're good to go.

Thanks for the info, for what I want it for root will most likely be needed. I will have to order it from Amazon.com and get it delivered to her hotel so checking the serial is out of the question. I am sure it is answered somewhere, but why has no root been found for newer versions?
In that case you may be lucky and get a rootable one. There are reports that Amazon.com are still shipping them, but that was a while ago (maybe 2 months ago).
I don't know the specifics as to why newer ones aren't rooted yet, but from what I understand the original firmware versions had a old Android exploit that allowed root, which was eventually patched. A new exploit hasn't been found, but awesomely dedicated people are working on it There is a hardware root, but I have no experience with it. There's a thread about it here on xda.

Modern Combat 5 and similar games on Fire TV

Has anyone here been able to get Modern Combat 5 to work with the Nyko Gamepad Pro on their Fire TV? I download the game last night because it looks really good, and it recognizes the gamepad way at the beginning when I press a button to skip ahead, but during the beginning of the actual game play when it tells you to shoot with the R2 trigger, nothing happens. I've used the same controller with all the other games I currently have installed, including Dead Trigger 1 and 2, Beach Buggy Racing, Roboto. and several others. They all work fine and I know this game supports game pads, but I don't know how to make it work. Thanks in advance for any help with this.
Forgot to ask, but has anyone also tried to play Overkill 3 on their Fire TV? I tried to play it last night, but it just hung when loading.
I can't be the only one who's tried to play the Google version of Modern Combat 5 Blackout on the Fire TV. From what I've played on my Tab 3, it looks like a pretty good game, I just don't what could be so different about the one from the Google Play Store that could prevent someone from playing it. The only thing I'm able to do is look around with the mouse, but not fire the gun. I think the game is detecting my controller, because it's giving me prompts to shoot with the R2 trigger, but nothing happens when I do.
Are you rooted with the Play Store installed? If not then its not gonna work. Gameloft and several other app makers require you to have the play store and google services installed to play. I am guessing you do have the play store installed so thats probably not the problem. Have you tried a different controller? I haave some controllers that work on certain game while other will not. Go to settings/system/about/controllers, cause every since the latest update some of my controllers do not show up in the list anymore, but always did on past updates. Since they have given us usb support for storage, I have had issues with bluetooth and USB controllers. They work mostly just not like they used to.

You're right me having the Play Store installed. All the other games I have installed that support controllers work fine, as well as Asphalt 8 Airborne. I use a Nyko Play Pad Pro and it shows in the Amazon controller setting and the other Android Settings.apk. I did try a USB gamepad I have, but it's for my computer so it didn't work. I considered getting a wired XBox controller, but I don't want to spend money on something I may not use that often, especially when my bluetooth gamepad works so well. The game works very well with the controller on my Tab 3 8.0, and Beach Buggy Blitz also works well with it, which I also downloaded from the Play Store. It's not the end of the world if I can't get it to work, but it would be nice.

If I were you I would ask someone on here for the Fire TV version of Modern Combat 5. There is another thread on here where some guy is asking for the apk, but its pretty clear that he never paid for the game in the first place, cause he said he seen it for free on amazon, which I know is a lie cause I has just paid the same price to get the Fire TV version as it was selling for in the play store. Nobody gave it to him, but you miht have better luck if you ask since its clear you have actually paid for it. They used to sell it on amazon, but for some reason took it down. I actually need the Modern Combat 5 Fire TV edition too, cause I accidently uninstalled it. It sucks paying for something then losing it.

Actually, the only reason I installed it is because I noticed it was free on the Google Play Store one day when I was updating a couple other apps last week. Otherwise, I may not have done it.
The Google Play Store version of Modern Combat 5 Blackout is a nice game and works well on my Tab 3 8.0, but I would like to be able to play it on my Fire TV. As I stated before, the game is actually free on the Google Play Store, and I just checked it again a little earlier to verify. The game installs and loads fine on the Fire, but when it comes to actually controlling it, nothing happens aside from my being able to move the camera around a bit with the mouse. I think the game is detecting my game pad, which is a Nyko Play Pad Pro, but after hitting a button to skip something in the very beginning it acts like it's not there. I don't want an illegal copy of this game, otherwise I would've downloaded it already. If anyone can tell me how they got a Google version to work on their Fire TV, it'd be appreciated. Otherwise, I will give up on it and move on.
i'm also looking for a way to use my xbox wireless controller working with gameloft games. missed the chance to get the firetv version. google playstore version is free.
several tricks didn't work for me (use wired keylayout from xbox360 and so on)

Trouble connecting Dualshock 3 via OTG (rooted phone, Android 5.0)

For the past 3 days I've been struggling to set up my PS3 contoller to work on my HTC One M8. First, I tried USB/BT Joystick Center and got the D-Pad to work, but couldn't really figure out the proper button configs so that games could detect them. Most of the other controller apps require root; therefore, I went ahead and did that. Then, I installed Sixaxis Compatibility Checker and it told me that my phone was compatible with the main app so I went ahead and bought it. Well, lo and behold it doesn't work. It seems that unless I override the MAC address of my controller, it won't let me pair up via OTG, Bluetooth-only seems to be the only way. Unfortunately, I can't do this because the drivers that I need to install to do this render my controller unusable with my PC games for some reason. I missed the refund window so I gotta make this work somehow.
You don't need OTG to link ps3 to phone. I've used the app many times on both my tablet and phone. I even use my ps3 on my laptop to play android games through emulation. I'll have to get with you later. Its 4am here, so give me time
