[Q] Quick Question about Recovery - HTC One V

I recently purchased a One V from Cricket and the stock firmware truly isn't bad so far. Minimal micro lags and such but I'm an Android mod-a-holic and I would like to go the whole 9 yards with this device. My only question is if recovery for the Virgin Mobile version can be flashed on the cricket one. I've looked through this whole forum and so far I've gathered yes but I really would hate to brick my brand new phone.

Of course you can, otherwise cricket guys wouldn't ask for roms and stuff  the only problem you could meet is an high radio with wouldn't let you flash roms, so if you did the most recent ota, ask the developer if it's ok to flash before doing that

s_off discussion thread.

To keep the development clean you can discuss here all related things concurring s off benefits and more.
Huh?
There is a huge thread that's never far from the top.
think he means that the thread is now development not development and discussion now.
Yes because that thread is cleaned a several times i do not want to risk its getting closed or the developer is getting sick of it and stops.
So please if you have something to say about soff that is not helping in anyway to get us nearer to a soff device please post out here if you want it of your back :good:
Just wondering, can we safely flash radios without S-OFF?

Yes unlike early version the radio is within the ROM. So if you flash a ROM with new base you are flashing with the new base.
What are we wanting from s-off then? If we can change the radio, remove carrier branding, change roms and sim-unlock, what else is there?

People want S-OFF so they can do stuff to their phones without having to use HTC's tool to void their warranties. I would assume that's one of the biggest ones.

The ability to flash boot.IMG from recovery is also a good perk. No need to get to a computer to flash a new kernel or ROM.

You can remove carrier branding without s-off by rooting and installing a custom rom but, for sim unlock, s-off is needed.

The LTEVO has s-off guys, go check that out, I think it would benefit one x. We technically don't need s-off tho, we can flash everything from recovery. No need to keep running to a computer

Getting rid of branding

Hi all,
sorry for my lack of knowledge, I'm a brand new HTC One X owner. I'd like to have the very standard software (ICS in this case) without the branding of T-Mobile. I've bought my phone in Poland (Europe Version).
Any step-by-step tutorials in here? I surely don't want to brick my new phone
not 100% sure on this but think only one way to debrand that is to unlock bootloader and root then install custom rom could be wrong tho

Well, I've got no problem with unlocking the bootloader etc. but I would like to have the normal ICS with HTC's Sense on the phone rather than some cyanogenmod or something along those lines. If anyone can help me out with the needed files and a step-by-step how-to (I'm not dumb when technology is involved, but I have absolutely no contact with the moding scene of Smartphones).

I think ARHD is meant to be pretty close to the standard sense experience. Cyanogen is a good release though, but maybe wait until its more stable on one x?

I recommend arhd it is stock with some tweaks

While i might instal this rom one day, I'd like to give the stock version a try. I don't want all the bull**** from t-mobile though The bootanimation alone is kinda ruining the experience for me

ARHD is a stock Rom tweaked to make it even better. you will find it much better, that is the only way to remove it, or rooting and flashing another boot animation
Easiest way I found was to unlock bootloader, root then delete all the carrier bloat you don't want and then flash a new bootanimation

Since you still opt for ICS the ARHD is the best alternative choice! Just search the thread on the XDA Developer you'll find it.
I have a T-Mob as well but flashed on CM10 for JellyBean and so far works great!

Question about 4.2.2 update

Hello everyone, sorry if this has been ask before, but i really need help..i see that the update 4.2.2 has come out recently but as far as i know only in europe..so my question is, does anyone know if the update will come out soon on any part of america? Im from Venezuela and i have my HOX from movistar, and the update obviously doesn't show, not yet at least..and honestly, i dont think that update will come any time soon or ever..so i decided to update my phone like a custom rom..but the problem is that i dont know what is that CID that everyone's talking about and dont know how to know mine..if anyone can help me in any way..the only thing that i can say about my phone right know is, that the bootloader its still lock, i have no root, and offcourse no custom recovery..so, i have an stock phone, and i really want to update my phone! ..i prefer an OTA update than to flash it from recovery, but i will try everything
PS: the english, you know sorry!
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Firstly you need to find out if or not your device is AT&T. If so, then unlucky, because the update (as of yet) is only out for the international Tegra 3 version.
Your CID can be found by downloading a free app from the play store. Just search 'CID checker', but at the minute they are pretty much useless to pre determine any updates.
If your device is an international version, either wait with everyone else or manually flash the odexed stock 4.2.2 version onto your phone (this only works for Tegra 3).
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
CID (Carrier ID) is something like product code for a certain region.
To know your CID you can try this: CID Getter
Take a look here: [Guide] -The Ultimate Stock to Custom ROM Awesomeness thread - Noob friendly
This thread will help you in understanding ROM flashing methods.
Make sure that your phone is EndeavorU not Evita
Thank you! The app says my CID is BSTAR301, do i ever get the ota update? Or the only way is to flash an stock rom?
And the other thing says if only for ICS, and i have JB, but no 4.2.2 obviously.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
No my HOX is no AT&T, and i dont thing my carrier (movistar) bought the phone from AT&T..it has to be the international versión because is a Tegra 3 ..the only thing i dont want from flashing a stock rom its Bécquer i dont want to lose my phone configurations and start all over again
Thats what i love from ota updates, you update your phone but dont lose everything and your phone stay the same but with the upgrades
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Then wait until the update is out for you.

Sprint S3 Flashed to Boost Question

Hi I'm sorry if this has already been answered , but is it safe to just flash any sprint/boost Rom to the Sprint version of the s3 ? Again it is flashed to Boost currently , so would putting a boost ROM instead of "modified" sprint stock ROM work ?
Sorry if it sounds confusing I just wanted to clear that up, in my eyes I'm figuring that since it is sprint, and flashed to boost, installing a new ROM would mess with the flash and put it back to sprint, which of course we don't want.
I just wanted to double check with the community before flashing away, thanks in advance for any answers.

I believe it would work just fine, i recently flashed a stock sprint ROM to my out of box Boost S3, Problem here is you might find it difficult getting Boost Stock ROMs especially the JB 4.3. you might also want to do NAM Backup before you proceed in flashing.

Is there a particular forum for the htc m9 dev edition?

I've been stuck on the verizon s3 for a couple of years and I finally bought a new phone. Naturally I had to get the developers edition of the HTC One m9. So I am wondering if their is a specific forum for our phones? Or do I just flash a rom according to whatever SIM card I'm using that day?
Also even though it was purchased as a developers edition, can flashing the wrong kernal get me stuck with a locked bootloader again?

Your in the right forums for your Developer Edition M9, Are you still with Verizon ?
I have a bit of a repository for the DE stuff here >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=28823
Any of the Roms in the Developer forums will work fine on your phone, I have tried Leedroid / ViperOneM9 / Stock with Goodies / and ARHD
with no problems.
I would be interested in knowing how you can get Verizon to work on a GSM phone if that is the case.

Awesome, thanks for the link!
I am still with verizon! tried the vzw sim to no avail and so far my m9 is just looking pretty. am still using my vzw s3 with no power button. I may go out today and get a t-mobile Sim card. I am definately dragging my feet because verizon does have the best coverage. But I will also find out if I SIM unlocked the s3. After the power button broke I went crazy with a few dialer code apps and I got to a point where I could manually input APN's. If that's the case I may invest a few bucks to have it fixed.
I was looking at you nicely organized repository and noticed you had a copy of the stock recovery. May I ask what you used to back it up?

Anyone know if I already get them to the developer edition the update 1.40.401.8 ?????
Can you rephrase your question? I'm not sure what you're asking.
If you are asking about the 1.40.xx than as far as I know it is firmware for the international version. However you can flash it in Order to run some custom roms. I'm currently using it on my dev edition in order to run viper one.
