Is there a particular forum for the htc m9 dev edition? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been stuck on the verizon s3 for a couple of years and I finally bought a new phone. Naturally I had to get the developers edition of the HTC One m9. So I am wondering if their is a specific forum for our phones? Or do I just flash a rom according to whatever SIM card I'm using that day?
Also even though it was purchased as a developers edition, can flashing the wrong kernal get me stuck with a locked bootloader again?

Your in the right forums for your Developer Edition M9, Are you still with Verizon ?
I have a bit of a repository for the DE stuff here >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=28823
Any of the Roms in the Developer forums will work fine on your phone, I have tried Leedroid / ViperOneM9 / Stock with Goodies / and ARHD
with no problems.
I would be interested in knowing how you can get Verizon to work on a GSM phone if that is the case.

Awesome, thanks for the link!
I am still with verizon! tried the vzw sim to no avail and so far my m9 is just looking pretty. am still using my vzw s3 with no power button. I may go out today and get a t-mobile Sim card. I am definately dragging my feet because verizon does have the best coverage. But I will also find out if I SIM unlocked the s3. After the power button broke I went crazy with a few dialer code apps and I got to a point where I could manually input APN's. If that's the case I may invest a few bucks to have it fixed.
I was looking at you nicely organized repository and noticed you had a copy of the stock recovery. May I ask what you used to back it up?

LeeDroid is a nice Sense based Rom, lots of tweaks and very stable/bug free and includes his own custom kernel

Just curious, what rom are you currently using?

Anyone know if I already get them to the developer edition the update 1.40.401.8 ?????

Can you rephrase your question? I'm not sure what you're asking.
If you are asking about the 1.40.xx than as far as I know it is firmware for the international version. However you can flash it in Order to run some custom roms. I'm currently using it on my dev edition in order to run viper one.

Getting rid of branding

Hi all,
sorry for my lack of knowledge, I'm a brand new HTC One X owner. I'd like to have the very standard software (ICS in this case) without the branding of T-Mobile. I've bought my phone in Poland (Europe Version).
Any step-by-step tutorials in here? I surely don't want to brick my new phone
not 100% sure on this but think only one way to debrand that is to unlock bootloader and root then install custom rom could be wrong tho

Well, I've got no problem with unlocking the bootloader etc. but I would like to have the normal ICS with HTC's Sense on the phone rather than some cyanogenmod or something along those lines. If anyone can help me out with the needed files and a step-by-step how-to (I'm not dumb when technology is involved, but I have absolutely no contact with the moding scene of Smartphones).

I think ARHD is meant to be pretty close to the standard sense experience. Cyanogen is a good release though, but maybe wait until its more stable on one x?

While i might instal this rom one day, I'd like to give the stock version a try. I don't want all the bull**** from t-mobile though The bootanimation alone is kinda ruining the experience for me

ARHD is a stock Rom tweaked to make it even better. you will find it much better, that is the only way to remove it, or rooting and flashing another boot animation
Easiest way I found was to unlock bootloader, root then delete all the carrier bloat you don't want and then flash a new bootanimation

Since you still opt for ICS the ARHD is the best alternative choice! Just search the thread on the XDA Developer you'll find it.
I have a T-Mob as well but flashed on CM10 for JellyBean and so far works great!

[Q] Quick Question about Recovery

I recently purchased a One V from Cricket and the stock firmware truly isn't bad so far. Minimal micro lags and such but I'm an Android mod-a-holic and I would like to go the whole 9 yards with this device. My only question is if recovery for the Virgin Mobile version can be flashed on the cricket one. I've looked through this whole forum and so far I've gathered yes but I really would hate to brick my brand new phone.
Of course you can, otherwise cricket guys wouldn't ask for roms and stuff  the only problem you could meet is an high radio with wouldn't let you flash roms, so if you did the most recent ota, ask the developer if it's ok to flash before doing that

Verizon GPE 4.3

So, I'm about to send off my aluminum baby and be phone-less for a few days (booooo) to Sonic so he can java magic my phone (yaaaaaay!) and I see there are several ROMs based off CM at the moment. I'm curious if anyone is going to try to port the official GPE rom over to VZW? I want to basically turn my phone into GPE. I haven't seen anything from VZW about the official GPE version of the One yet. I know the Moto X has a GPE version but the only GPE I see on the google play site is GSM based. I thought I remembered reading VZW was getting the GPE version but haven't see anything about it since. If we're not going to get the official version I will most likely run andy's rom he posted. Has anyone heard any updates on the VZW GPE?

Yeah I saw that. You're right, it's 4.2. Thanks for the response. I'll just use newt most likely when I get the phone back or just use CM. I didn't know if anyone saw anything about Verizon actually releasing a GPE version of the One or not. Was hoping they would so we could have the straight stock optimized for the device.

On previous versions of Sense, you simply delete or rename HTCLockScreen.apk to HTCLockScreen.bak and reboot.
I'm assuming the same still applies.

[ROM] 4/6/2014 Stock Google Play Edition KOT49H.H16 - 1.16.1700.16

This is a Stock Google Play Edition Rom KOT49H.H16. It has no modifications besides being rooted and busy box being installed, Oh and I added an inverted stock MMS app with quick reply
System write protection has been removed on boot using @flar2's kernel module so you now can write to the system.
Credits/Thanks to @pasker17 for his time and patience and allowing all the poking and prodding of his GPe devices!
Thanks to @jmz for getting us a bootable recovery!
Credit to: chrisch1974 (I used his update zip/script and dropped my files in it)
Credit to @flar2 for the kernel module
Devs feel free to use as a base, just give proper credit
Updated 4/6/2014
MUST be bootloader unlocked and custom recovery. As of now I recommend Philz's touch recovery as twrp has been giving people issues
Philz recovery can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703223
1. Make sure you do a wipe if coming from another rom
2. Flash in recovery
3. If recovery tells you something about the rom wanting to flash a recovery and asks if you want to disable it select NO. that file is needed for supersu to initialize on boot if you disable it you will not have root access
Link: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407584491
Mirror: http://d-h.st/HVN
As this is a stock rom.. Nothing will be added.. No big reports taken.. this is how it came right from google with the exception of root and busybox being installed and the kernel module to disable write protection on the system
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you use this and brick your device or if your device blows up, implodes, or flames start shooting from it or it kills your neighbor's dog. Flash at your own risk. I am not responsible.... It was the other guy... I swear....

So from my understanding, instead of the conversion, which changes it completely to a GPe setup, this is just the rom and so does not resize the system partition. Is that correct?
Thanks!

So does this rom lack any data upon initial flash? If so, after the fix, does it still have LTE connectivity?

Gee thanks for the help. I would have never thought to Google something like that.... There's a whole lot of specifics on how to go about it with this particular Rom on this carrier. Seriously appreciate the generosity of your time.
No worries, got it figured out no problem, I'll have this available for all roms I release specific to the Tmo variant on the M8.
FYI, there's a few more steps involved to get everything T-Mobile related (apk wise) working on this or any of the builds aside from Viper.

[Q] Model Number For Flashes?

I have had the HTC One M8 for AT&T For 3 days and already rooted it (couldn't handle not being rooted).
I bootloader unlocked, and i have a recovery name as [openrecovery-twrp-m8.img]
all roms for this phone is in that codename , just m8.
not CA_UL_ETC ETC
I don't know what the model number is and what not to flash now.
Is every HTC M8 the same? Can you flash any ROM file to this phone?
I have no S-OFF yet. Not even kernel.
Please let me know, my last HTC Phone was the OneXL.
Sprint and Verizon are odd, but GSM phones are mostly all compatible.

As @BenPope said check the ROM thread for this. Some ROMs require a specific FW, so sometime it has to be updated before you can use a custom ROM without running into any issues. To flash a firmware you have to be S-Off of course.
