Airplay for Android - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've looked at some apps and did some research on some apps abilities with airplay. I have a JBL dock that my iPod can connect with via airplay and I want my phone to be able to do this. Dues anyone know of any apps that have the ability?

DoubleTwist?
I thought that DoubleTwist is only for receiving music from iTunes; not for sending music and video and such to remote devices. Or can that be done?
I'm also looking for something like this. I'd like to be able to send what I see on the display of my Android device or Linux notebook to my TV. In Apple land, that would be done with AirPlay -> http://www.apple.com/airplay/; "Mirroring" is what I'm after. I'm not looking for something which would allow me to send just a video or music file to my TV - DLNA works.
Can someone suggest a solution? Those AirPlay apps that I found in the Play Store only seem to be able to send music, .or at best also video files. Oh, and I'm also looking for an AirPlay "receiver" for Android, that I could put on some Android USB stick or such which I'd connect to my TV via HDMI.
Oh #2 - it doesn't HAVE to be AirPlay. Something else altogether would be fine as well, as long as it does what I "need".
Thanks,
Alexander

Well then we can close this thread now because AirPlay mirroring isn't going to happen from your Android device. Hell the native Android solution to mirroring (Miracast) isn't even going to happen. That was just Googles way of saying "Look we had a half ass thought about it, now leave us the hell alone. No you cant have mirroring. Sincerly, Google."
You say you are familiar with DLNA and it works well for you, the end.

Unfortunately, there are no Bluetooth 4.0 (which Bluetooth LE is a part of) libraries built into android right now. In order to connect an android device to a Bluetooth 4.0 connection, you must do it for a specific device, and that device's manufacturer must have released a bluetooth 4.0 SDK. There is an open bluetooth low-energy SDK for Android

"I want my gb 6900 g-shock watch to pair with my GS3!!! UGH"
I am a app developer and I need Bluetooth 4.0 in order to develop hardware for my own phone. As of now i'm using Apples Iphone 5 " Samsung's Competitor" to develop my apps and Hardware. This does not look good on Samsung's part. I really hope this gets figured out. The Galaxy S3 is the top selling phone as of right now. It is also my favorite in terms of use but. The fact that they advertised 4.0 support this sucks!
I am with you on that bro. Got the gb 6900 on my wrist right now but no application to really take advantage of the ble. Just in case you dont know, you can always check that the SGS3 can see the GB 6900 using the "Bluetooth Smart Scanner" application tool found through play.
I also have a Moto Droid 4 which can natively see the watch using the Bluetooth page in settings but I am afriad I have to perhaps look into the developing my own app.

The nRF Utlility from Nordic, i couldnt even download from the Play Store because my phone is marked as "SAMSUNG-SGH-I747" which is at^t's SGS3. I wish there was a way i could download the .apk file from Play Store or even somewhere on the internet.
I am going to check if Nordic has put it on their developer site.
The application i mentioned only just discovers the Bluetooth 4.0 devices and doesnt connect to them. At the moment it is just good enough for proof that Samsung indeed has a Bluetooth Low Energy module in the SGS3.
If you can give me more info on your SGS3 such as network carrier, what rom and kernel you are using, perhaps i might be able to figure out why it is not working for you.

I just checked Nordic's website, unfortunately they dont have the .apk listed in the downloads section only the blasted iOS version of nRF
Also, i attached the incompatibility error i am getting when i try to download nRF from the Play store. Don't think you have the .apk for nRF Utility do you? Any way you know we can actually download the .apk from the play store?

Hi! yes. You would first need to make sure you have the JB official ROM upgrade from at&t through Kies or rooted and unlocked bootloader SGS3 running JB. Unfortunately, there is no official app from Casio for SGS3 as G-Shock+ exists for iOS yet, but you can download nRF Utility from market and then use the watch as a proximity device.

The nordic nRF utility does connected to my s3 and the casio gb6900.
It even was connecting better than the official G-shock app ( from the apple store) and my partners iphone 5
I'm not a developer but does it mean i have to wait until casio, android, or samsung work on that ?
Does it work with the japanes g-shock app from their store ? (this app supports a gb-6900 bt reports the description)

have you tried to clear the bond between the casio gb6900 and nRF utility and Bluetooth smart scanner or other android apps? I believe you can do that by going to the setup screen on the watch and then keep the split.reset button pressed on the watch. What other apps other than Bluetooth Smart Scanner and nRF Utility have you found on android/for sgs3 that use BLE to connect?

I have yet to try the official G-Shock+ app for iOS. I try to stay away(physically and mentally) from any iOS device. You may be right on the on the "better connectivity " as i know Apple did screw up the Dual Mode Bluetooth chipset on the iPhone 4S...which they might have carried on with iPhone 5.
Yes, you would have to wait untill casio develops something or untill there is a API from Samsung for BLE development for Android. I think the latter one is more important as once there is a API, not only Casio can develop a full fledged app but also many individual developers. Samsung is the real sucker in this.
You hafto go into setup in watch menu then hit "start stop" twice then hold in reset. Then search for the watch again.

That is exactly what i said in my reply. Maybe you overlooked it. Oh and there is a newer version of nRF Utility. Now you can have the watch beep or find the watch as you press "Find My Tag"..and the watch beeps in case you misplace the watch. It didnt work earlier. :good:

Well thanks for the effort. Many people before you have done that and got the same response. I dont know why Samsung is not at the top of the matter on this..especially if they really want to seal the deal for SGS3.
It could be that android/google is really pushing for NFC and not so much on BLE because iOS is pushing more on BLE and not so much on NFC.
I tell you these corporate battles just are hindrances to potential opportunity to many technologies and developers. Shame on them!
Update on Android App from Casio
I have some good news to share. We should be getting an Android based app from Casio. See this link
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/49231/casio-g-shock-gb-5600a-iphone-pictures-hands-on
"It will work only with iPhone at present - because of the app support - but an Android app is in the pipeline for release later in the year."
Another site i found reporting says around end of summer.

Request apk for Viki, Crunchyroll or any apps for Google TV

Hello,
If somebody is kind enough, please post the apk for Crunchyroll and Viki for Google TV or any apps that on the Google TV.
Please don't point me to:
http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/
It does not work since evozi emulated T-Mobile devices to download apk. The Chrome extension does not work either since I don't have a Google TV devices to download from Google Play Store. So, if anybody has Google TV apks or figure out how to download all the apks for Google TV. Once I have all those apks, I will zip them and post it to my dropbox and share it with everyone if possible. Please let me know.
Thank you
EDIT: Link for apk to Crunchyroll, Viki, and Drama Fever from arunningpir8 below

I test all of them out. Viki and Drama Fever works great. Crunchyroll will give you a sideway screen. I recommend you use the normal Crunchyroll app, not the Google TV one.

dramafever gtv request
Can someone re-post the most updated version of the dramafevertv apk?
Viki works fine, and so does crunchy roll from the previous posts.
The dramafevertv apk posted from before stopped working about a month ago(November 2014) with the error "can't play this video" for all videos.
Much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Another android lover, who is missing out on some drama time.
Is there a newer version of the Google TV DramaFever app out there than 01.01.09 from about July 2014? I am getting that "can't play video" message on one of my Android sticks but I think it still works on my Revue and Amazon Fire Stick.

By the way, another app you can sideload is Dramania. You can get it from mobi24.net.
Also in the limited Amazon app store on the firestick, there is an app called MBC online that you can install directly.

Just tested on my AFS and the version of DramaFever app I have works. I am pretty sure it still works on the Logitech Revue as well. I also tested it on my old Samsung Fascinate running a 4.22 rom at it plays video.
I did notice that it stopped working on my Favi Smart Stick(running Android 4.04) starting in November. But since it works on some platforms, It doesn't sound like a server problem or change or an encoding issue.
The only thing I can think of is that the DramaFever app is having a problem all of a sudden calling the internal Google movie player app. I tried clearing data and defaults as well.
Sent from a Freedompop HTC Evo 4G
Thx
I have it side-loaded it on an Android box, it worked great until recently and I hoped there was a newer version out since I e-mailed dramafever with this error "can't play this video" and all they said was "update the apk to the latest version from the playstore". I know they haven't updated it since Sept.10/2013 version "01.00.09" on Gplay.
I guess I will have to wait until the next update whenever that is for a fix since its more of a server-side limitation for now than my client since it loads the pictures and I can login to my account no problem on my box which is weird.
I did try to re-install the apk and logging out of my account to test but to no avail. I also tried clearing the cache and clearing the data in the settings as well but that didn't fix anything either.
Any suggestions appreciated. I'm running Android 4.2.2 on my box.
Regards,
Drama Lover.

Are you having issues running it on a generic android box like me? or on an Amazon Fire TV device?
for some reason, it works on my Amazon Firestick(and other devices) but not on my generic Android stick(which I am trying to figure out as well). Like you, it was working well up to around November 2014.
I am running the same GoogleTV app version 01.00.09 on all devices which I backed up and restored from my Logitech Revue(I know they occasionally change their servers which could break the app and force you to upgrade). I don;t think it;s the app since it works on other devices on the same network. I wonder if an update to a Google service broke it on this device. Maybe something related to the internal movie player app.

I'm having issues on a generic android box like you. I don't have a stick so I can't test.
I'm sure I haven't updated anything on the box since November to android since I don't have gplay on it.
I didn't backup or restore, I directly side-loaded using the apk from a usb stick using an otg cable.
It probably isn't the app, its their servers not allowing access (maybe not allowing lower version android devices? but that shouldn't be it, what version are you running on your non-working android device?)
I don't even have google services on the android device haha, but it worked fine before it broke.
I'm stuck using Viki now which is not half bad, it just doesn't remember which episode I left off like with dramafevertv which is a shame.
Cheers
The version on my favi smartstick is 4.04. Yeah my first idea was they changed servers on the back end. But it still works on the Revue and my AFS. The Revue is running old ICS version 3.2.
The phone tablet version of Viki saves the location. But it has commercials. The Google TV version is better on the TV.

If you still want it I can assist.

I dont know if there is anything wrong with the spotify connect offer in the amazon store for the Fire TV 2 but mine almost never works. My cell phone never find my amazon fire tv 2, it only sees my receiver. It used to work perfectly with my fire stick but since I upgrade to a FTV 2 no luck. It could be a problem with the app or with teh FTV 2, dont know. I am temping to use one of the apps posted here.

The 0.3 version posted here I believe came from a FTV 2 ... sounds like similar issues to what I experienced running it on the Shield TV, not found, only plays a couple of tracks before stopping.

Same here unfortunately. I'm hating AndroidTV more and more.

[Q] Does FTV Require a Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone?

I ran out and bought a Google Chromecast, only to find out it required one of those devices. I found it odd that nowhere in the commercial did it specify that. It's what I get for rushing out to buy something, I suppose. Got my money back for it, though.
Does Fire TV require a laptop / tablet / smartphone? If this is already posted somewhere in the forum or on another site, a link would be great. I did a quick google search and didn't really find anything right off the bat.
EDIT: In case it wasn't clear, I am wondering if I can stream / mirror media from my Desktop, instead of a smartphone / tablet / laptop.
Thanks, a potential Fire TV consumer.
Really, you come to this forum and you have no idea what a chromecast does?

Short answer is no. The Fire TV can exist as a semi-standalone media device connected to your TV. The only thing required is an internet connection/display.

Well, I do now. I bought one , you see, and I realized you MUST have a smartphone - tablet - laptop to stream.
Hence why I came here, a forum (where questions are frequently asked), to ask whether or not the Fire TV needs one of those devices.

Ugh, I am sorry man. You are saying no, but then you are saying all you need is a connection, which I have. So I'm set to get an FTV? Sorry, I am just trying to be sure.
And thanks for the non-Jackass response.

Sorry I wasn't clear. No, an external tablet/phone/computer is not required, just a display and a net connection.

Sideloading App on Galaxy watch running off an iphone

Hi, so I am handcuffed by my work to use an iphone. I couldn't stand the apple watch, so finally upgraded to to the Galaxy watch. I love this watch. Disappointed at the limited apps available, which i understand fully. I am curious if there is a way to sideload these apps? Particularly the myroundpro watch app.
Really appreciate any feedback.
Regards,

I'm not sure sideloading is the answer. I know that's the question that was asked but the application he mentioned is on the galaxy wearable store and has an iOS companion app on the iOS app store. That's why I asked my questions above. What exactly is he trying to resolve by sideloading? It doesn't make sense.
I didn't go in depth but once you connect you have to root then a little easier tinzen has dev exe to Port apps on dev website I've been trying to do with Spotify lite made for gear not Samsung 2nd B's market we get non-samsung owners
i wasn't trying to be a [email protected]@@, but ive ported and signed different apps on my watch this thread will help multiple links to tinzen dev and it works look at post #53 we need all the help we can on watch https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm.../questions-sideloading-apps-tweaking-t3917082 hope this helps if not ill try to help if i can
