This kernel is only for TW 4.1.x T-mobile/Att ROMS/devices at this time. The whole point for this kernel is to give the user the features wanted from all the other kernels but stay the closest to stock as possible. All the governors and the schedulers are stock and what was found in the source from Samsung. This Kernel is 98% stock and the only changes to the code are listed in the change log. blacknight1114 and I have been testing all night and today. Running very smooth and great battery life! Thanks buddy for giving me a hand testing! This Kernel would even make a great replacement for the stock kernel in all the TW ROMs and developers you have my permission to include it if you wish.

What is fast charge:
This allows one to force AC charging for any charger that is detected as USB (e.g. many car chargers) and pull the full current the charger can support. Without Fast charge, when connected to the computer or even car charger you will very low current causing the charge time to be a lot longer. With fast charge active the current is set to the max allowed (and/or safest) and charging time will reduce greatly. It also provides additional security when connecting to public charging stations because by forcing AC charging, USB/adb data transfers are disabled, protecting your data. When fast charge is active you will not be able to access your data on your device. You will need to turn fast charge off to access them. Hope this helps everyone understand it more.
How to install:
Flash the kernel
Clear cache and dalvik cache.
Reboot

InFamous 4.8.2 ROM and this Kernel... I also use mostly WCDMA as I know this tends to use more battery it also works better for me at work. Yet even on the normal GSM setting it will score that high also...Just a GREAT ROM and GREAT KERNEL .... The ROM is tweaked how Jamison does his thing and nothing else...

Stock is normally (far as I know) set at, Ondemand and cfq then of course clocked at 384min and 1512max....
Sorry trying to type as my Cat is trying to take over the keyboard..LOL ...

Anyone else having trouble getting the min settings to stick after reboot. With trickster mod I set the min to 384 and it keeps going back to 102600 after the phone reboots

After sitting overnight I also noticed ( using CPU Spy) it goes to 918 and 1026 for min... I reset and reboot and it goes back as well...Hmmmm
i just did a restore back to KP 1.2 only because I am off to work and won't have time to check things out...
PS. Also from CPU spy I noticed that it does sleep it just goes back to min of as noted above....
Just FYI using Set CPU

Huh... didn't notice that myself. No biggie, easy fix. Just didn't want to play with the clocking as I wanted to keep that 100% stock. Small adjustment. I should have something up later tonight.

This kernel doesn't seem to recognize my 64GB SD card. Is there a way around that?
EDIT: NVM, gotta reformat to FAT32.
Thanks!

So far it is excellent, although I suggest one small (but significant on battery life) addition: Abyssplug governor (it is Ondemand with hotplugging).

[KERNEL] [26 APR] v1.7.2 and GamerEdition RcrdBrt's INK kernel

With permission, this is RcrdBrt's kernel on the Nexus S threads. He said that someone can post his kernel here, and IMO it's awesome, so here it is:
INK Kernel
Italian Nexus Kernel
It is based on latest 4.0.4 source and for now I added:
-Deep Idle
-SLQB memory allocator
-Voodoo Sound (colors+sound)
-BLX
-BLN
-BLD (I really like it)
-lazy governor
-undervolt INT voltages by default (as I learned from bedalus graphs, INT uv is more efficient and it gives us a bit of more battery).
-SIO tweaked scheduler
-optimized CRC32 algorithm
-optimized some other code and compiler flags
-many many under-the-hood tweaks by the boss Ezekeel
I merged in it Steve Garon's tweaks branch and Ezekeel's hiddenpart branch and I had a boost in performances.
I unchecked in the config the TV tuners modules, some debug options and unnecessary govs to have a lighter and more powerful kernel.
it's not gonna be an all in one kernel, I let join the project only the features that I think they are good (suggestions however are well accepted).
My default settings are:
Ondemand 100/1000
SIO
FIND ALL DOWLOAD LINKS HERE
New kernel sources: https://[email protected]/RcrdBrt/INK.git (sorry if there are mistakes with commits, I don't know well how they works. Still learning)
Credits: big thanks to steve.garon for his tweaks and because he helped me with sources
Ezekeel for hiddenpart branch and his mods
terryhau

Proscia A. for his geekness

Changelog:
GamerEdition -----> do not expect battery life from this, it's a special verison meant to gamers, 72 Hz screen and tweaked lazy governor (default gov)
v 1.6.1 ---------> for 9020 users ---> fixed wifi issue caused by the toolchain added code tweaks (high smoothness) and optimizations retweaked SIO. I compiled this with arm-linux-androideabi to test it (instead of arm-eabi of 9023 version)
This can be considered the dev branch
v 1.5 ------- Optimized compiler flags, tweaked SIO, new sources (again and again lol), removed wimax and voodoo colors to have a highly optimized version for i9023 and added custom voltages, removed other debug options, merged some new Ezekeel tweaks
Pixel Edition --------- added bigmem and tun.ko, merged again with steve garon tweaks for under-the-hood insane performances
v 1.4 ------fixed the fix to the voodoo colors
v1.3-------reverted back to stock branch and readded all the tweaks to prevent mistakes I've done , added SIO as default scheduler, fixed Voodoo, added FASTCHARGE patch, raised the INT voltages (but still undervolted) added deep idle
v1.2 skipped version
v1.1--------removed wheatley and bfq. made SIO scheduler as default. fixed voodoo colors and a bit of fixes for the laggy thing. Added bigmem and deep idle
v1.0---------inital release
Thank you for posting this Joe .

No luck here either. I tried to flash this kernel and it wouldn't even get past the boot screen. Just a big ol' bootloop..
4g works why wouldnt it?
Try it with a Fresh install of Codename 2.0.
My phone hates UV and its working great here for me, not one reboot. Make sure your phone isnt overclocked already when installing too.

Krazeecracker, Thomas.Raines and Team Fah-Q! presents
The Lightning Zap! kernel for the Hercules
ATTN:
I Krazeecracker, thomas.raines, Team Fah-Q!, nor it's affiliates claim responsibility for anything you do to damage, destroy, brick, explode, or otherwise screw up your device.
I revamped the Lightning Zap! kernel across the board. Since I have so many of them I was loosing where I was on each one. So I have now broken it down into 3 phases:
Phase 1: Introduction of LZ kernel to device
Phase 2: Fine tuning of tweaks, values, etc
Phase 3: Implementation of OC/UV
Phase 4: Continue updating and adjusting as necessary
From now on I will name the .zip accordingly as well:
Sky_p2.1
On a good note, I think this latest update will finalize phase 2 and now I can work on OC/UV...
Features:
Improved performance
Improved battery life
Improved network speeds
Improved boot times
Smoother scrolling
Better responsiveness
Cleaner file systems
Governor tweaks for amazing speed and performance without sacrificing battery life
Improved Memory and Ram tweaks
Improved Internet speed
Amazing kernel tweaks, build.prop mods, init.d scripts and more!
Instructions:
Make a backup
Download LightningZapv1Sky.zip to PC
Transfer LightningZapv1Sky.zip to your sdcard
Or just download it straight to your phone
Reboot to recovery
Flash
Phone will automatically reboot after install**
Wait 10 minutes
Enjoy the Lightning Zap!
ATTN!
If you are currently on any version of Lightning Zap! kernel, you must either replace your build.prop from your ROM or re-flash your current ROM. Or you can open your build.prop with a text editor and delete all lines below the Lightning Zap Tweaks entry.
This kernel was tested on ParanoidAndroid. This kernel and tweaks will work with any version of CM10 post 14OCT.
**First boot, especially after a fresh install of your ROM (wipe system cache etc, flash ROM gapps Lightning Zap) will take a while. It will seem to hang between a blank screen (which use to be the 2nd boot splash) and the boot animation. There is no need to panic. Everything is fine. It is the vacuum script trying to clean databases that have yet to be created. After first boot, your phone will boot as normal (a little faster actually)...
After first boot, ensure your I/O scheduler is set to cfq and your governor is set to ondemand to gain the maximum benefits of Lightning Zap!
See 3rd post for further instructions on improving and customizing your Lighting Zap! experience.

Sky_p3.2-1.zip
Vibration fixed thanks to tmob.
Sky_p3.2.zip with rotation fix included
Skipped 3.1 because it was incomplete
Added userspace voltage control (You can now use an app or script to control your voltage. I tested with Voltage Control (preferred) and Antutu CPU Master)
For badass battery life, I am using noop io-scheduler, Lionheart governor, underclocked at 1026Mhz, and globally dropped voltage by -100mV
Deep sleep is working right again (doesn't take forever for it to enter ds)
Leaned up thread and removed old versions. They are gone for good so please don't ask...
Sky_p3.0.zip
Fixed the ability to set max/min cpu frequency. Thanks to car vs driver for pointing me in the right direction
Added OC/UV from flappjaxxx h0tcakez kernel source
Fine tuned ondemand governor
Archived changelog
Plans:
I want to trim down the oc frequencies. I think that 29 is just too much. I also want to cut back on the governors and io-schedulers. There are so many to choose from and everyone has their preferences. How bout some feedback in the general scetion here
Enjoy the Zap!
More tips and tricks
This is already included but left for reference.
The governor tweak is set for a fairly balance of performance and battery life. If you find yourself needing battery life over performance, you can make some minor changes. Here's how:
1 Download Script Manager from the market (it's free)
2 Open Script Manager and navigate to /system/etc/init.d
3 Press menu/more/advanced options and select mount as RW
4 Select 01governor and select "edit" at the top (this will open the file in atext editor)
5 Uncomment (remove # in the particular line) and change:
Code:
echo "45" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold;
To:
Code:
echo "[COLOR=red]70[/COLOR]" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold;
6 Select menu/save
7 Press the skull and cross bones icon at the top (this will allow Super User)
8 Press run, close app and enjoy
This will result is slightly slower performance but higher battery life.
If you want even better battery life:
1 Following steps 1-4
2 Add a # at the begining of lines 11 to 19
3 Scroll to "pwoersaver" section
4 Remove the # at the begining of lines 28, 30-38 and 43
Code:
#AWAKE_GOVERNOR="ondemand"
#SLEEP_GOVERNOR="ondemand"
# echo "70" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold;
etc
Code:
AWAKE_GOVERNOR="powersaver"
#SLEEP_GOVERNOR="powersaver"
echo "20000" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate;
5 Follow steps 6-8 (no need to select super user icon if you already did)
This will result in lower performance, but ultimate battery life
When running in a higher performance mode (especially for gaming) you can disable powersave_bias by changing the 1 to a 0 like this:
Code:
echo "1" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/powersave_bias;
echo "[COLOR=red]0[/COLOR]" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/powersave_bias;
Powersave_bias only allows the CPU to peak for small increments at a time, and not allow the CPU to remain peaked even when the system calls for it. In gaming, that could result in choppy, laggy perofrmance and slow FPS..
Although it says not to in the script, you can change the sampling rate as well. Do not go below 50000. I left it at 57500 as I found this seems good setting for smooth scrolling and performance.
Code:
echo "[COLOR=Red]57500[/COLOR]" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate;
Always leave SLEEP_GOVERNOR="powersave" uncommented (no #) and do not uncomment any other SLEEP_GOVERNOR as this will keep ultimate battery save while screen is off.
Only change values in increments of 5 for the up_threshold.
This is already included but left here for reference.
Source code tips
Needs updating.
just add this to your local_manifest.xml:
Code:
<remote fetch="https://github.com/TeamFahQ" name="LZkernel" />
<project name="msm8660-common_lz_kernel.git" path="samsung/msm8660-common" remote="LZkernel" revision="jellybean" />
<project name="vendor_lz-kernel.git" path="vendor/lz-kernel" remote="LZkernel" revision="master" />
Then add this to your cm.mk file i your device directory:
Code:
# adding Lightning Zap tweaks to build
$(call inherit-product, vendor/lz-kernel/lightningzap.mk)
And don't forget to remove the kernel entry in your cm.dependencies found in your device directory...
First! This should be fun...

Dynamic F-Sync
This is a goodie by faux123, so all credits go to him for creating this unique feature !
Many kernels just disable synchronous writes to file to speed up system. While this works neatly, it is also dangerous as processes believe that file writes are actually synced to disk (or mmc media in our case) while this is not yet true ! The gain is a noticeably smoother user experience, but the risk of doing so is to have a corrupted filesystem if the device crashes, user pulls battery, battery fully depletes ... so that the device is turned off unexpectedly. To allow for the benefit, but to minimize the risk, faux123 created dynamic fsync, which while the screen is on, will defer file sync temporarily, but when screen gets turned off, a flush is called to synchronize all outstanding writes keeping your data safe.
SLIMBus OverClocked
This means SLIMbus will use its maximum potential to give the best audio quality for the hardware. Takes advantage of both hardware and the mods from zeroinfinity, also opening the door for more things that were previously limited by this. Researched and experimented by ZeroInfinity and Poondog
First! My first first as a matter of fact. Downloading now.
Edit: Do we post questions/comments here or in the other thread you linked that has the downloads?
Time to get this party started!!
Sick, nice to see the new forum. I just flashed the1/30 build on d2spr and everything seems to be working great. I did have one issue I had to install the exfat zip to pick up my SD card.

I lost LTE on this ROM as well as a Slimkat nandroid after flashing this. I'm trying to flash a TW ROM to see if I can get it back.
Edit: Flashed a stock TW ROM, updated PRL and profile, restored my slimkat nandroid and 4G is back.

Same here. Flashing TW nandroid fixed it and now I'm back on my daily, Slim 4.3 build 2.2 w/LTE. Will try again with future builds of KK.
I actually had to flash TW first then go to the 1/21 build, going from the latest beta back to the 1/21 still broke LTE. It's a shame cause it was running so good.
Did you guys also flash the exfat.zip? People on Google+ are saying that's working.

That was for no data at all...
Technically the purpose of exfat.zip is to be able to access an exfat formatted sdcard. But users have reported getting data including LTE to work. There are many examples of this on Google+.
Just try it.
I have a D2SPR in an area where Sprint has no LTE so can't confirm that it works.

I actually had LTE when I first flashed the ROM, then at some point it just went away and didn't come back.

Hi guys! Here comes the first custom kernel in xda for L-preview
I'm presenting my personal kernel Code_Blue, that started as an addon for Purity ROM, called Purified Kernel.
Some of you that know me from other Nexus devices asked me to bring back the project, so I (finally) did.
My releases are Dragon_Shield powered and I'm going to share them with you.
All I want is full smoothness, performance and battery on my hammerhead, so I build always with Linaro optimized Cortex A15 toolchains.
This time I aim for a "stockish" feel lean build and for stability purposes I will stay with GCC 4.9.2 for now.
Code is based of android-msm-hammerhead-3.4-l-preview, forked from android/kernel_msm.
Useful and powerful picks are mandatory
Be sure to join Code_Blue users G+ community
You keep the spirit alive!
Kernel features:
Build on Ubuntu 14.04.1 x86_64 (Dragon_Shield VPS @ www.servercore.com.br - thanks @ChristianLetti)
Build with toolchains 2014.09 Linaro Cortex-A15 GCC 4.9.2 by @Christopher83
Full -Ofast+graphite support with device and target flags enhanced, linaro build improvements, etc
Based on android-msm-hammerhead-3.4-l-preview + own commits & cherry-picks on demand from several top devs, code aurora, linaro...
Kernel compressed with LZ4-r123, custom tweaked RAMdisk with GZIP (faster boot times)
Removed some debug and logging options
Enhanced performance and battery patches
Several CPU Governors (blu_active own governor is default)
Voltage Control UV_mV_table by @franciscofranco (UV down to 700mV possible)
Enhanced TCP methods (westwood is default)
Network and Wifi tweaks
Several I/O control (FIOPS is default)
Removed stock mpdecision and thermald
blu_plug: Dynamic hotplug for hammerhead (based in dyn_hotplug from @stratosk), with screenoff battery saving (max_freq 1190400 @ max dual core)
powersaver_mode available (switch usefull on light tasks, set max_freq 1728 MHz @ single core)
L msm_thermal by @franciscofranco
Optimized RWSEM, AES and SHA1 routines
Vibrator Strength tunable (60% default)
KGSL fixes and reworked GPU driver (removed doubled freqs, goes to idle @ 27MHz)
Gamma Control by @myfluxi, Piereligio_TrueRGBv7 profile by default)
LCD_KCAL driver added (RGB calibration by @savoca)
Tuned min manual brightness
OTG USB flash drives support FAT32, ExFAT and NTFS: use stickmount
CDROM emulation added to mass_storage (Drive Droid compatible)
Kexec (multirom) full support by @Tasssadar
Faux Sound Control, with In-call and headphone volume controls by @faux123 (must use FauxSound beta app v1.2.3 and up)
doubletap2wake available (0:disabled, 1:enabled, 2:enabled fullscreen), option to disable with power button or after wake_timeout (based on @flar2 and @showp1984 work)
USB Fast Charge (USB mode up to 900mA with MTP, by @flar2), Increase battery charging current to use higher input current (on AC mode by @faux123), proprietary charger detection
init.d support (busybox run-parts required)

Download latest Code_Blue Kernel zip on Test folder, flash in recovery and profit :highfive:
No mirrors allowed. Don't post hardlinks, use original links.
Changelog is available @ website also.
Builds are coded as follows:
test only for now on tests folder, no changelog, build with Linaro Cortex-A15 4.9.2 to minimize issues in troubleshoot.
Warning: If you come from other kernel, you should dirty flash your ROM before flashing Code_Blue zip to avoid problems.
Reflash ROM -> flash SuperSU -> Boot device -> flash Code_Blue.
Also uninstall or clean data of any kernel control app you're using.

Great! I think every Kernel management app isn't going to be compatible with every kernel and vice versa without messing around with a couple of options
I don't know if it is just me, but faux sound doesn't seem to be working. App starts up and says that the kernel is supported, but messing around with the toggles doesn't cause anything to happen. I'm assuming that the app or patch needs to be updated to work with L, or I'm just stupid and an not doing something right.
Well done Rui, good Job as ever [emoji106]

Questions & Answers
Q: How do I set or change the kernel settings?
A: Use an app like Trickster to control the kernel settings.
Q: Why do some developers use an install script to set the kernel features and others use a control app?
A: To each his own. I personally like the flexibility of a control app so I can change settings on the fly and monitor the cpu frequencies/temperature etc. in lieu of changing the script and rebooting each time.
Q: Will you add this feature?
A: Maybe if you provide me with a good reason and research backing up why it's good to add. I like to keep my kernels somewhat clean to maintain optimization on battery and performance without going overboard.
Okay might have to start from scratch. Tried simply to merge in latest changes that bring it up to cm12 and won't boot. So I'll change my tactic tomorrow and will have something soon. FYI - my cm11 version works, just borks data.

Thanks for giving this a shot. I'm looking forward most to fast charge, because although Santod's beta ROM is 99% greatness, it seems to cause the phone to charge glacially slow for some reason. I miss DT2W also but the slow charging is killing me.
Very excited to get this and santod's beta running. You guys are awesome!

Assuming your device is rooted, probably the easiest way is with an app called Flashify in the Play Store.

I will be more than happy to test!
Quick update...this seems better than the one I just posted. Links are redone.
Now that everything seems to be at least going okay...I will start by fixing the hiccups with the wake gestures and then add things back in. Camera seems messed up, but I had to revert a large commit by CM for camera....that caused bootloops...so I might have to hit @santod040 up for what he has in his build.

Just curious if there was progress on this!! If it has the same features as the aosp 4.4.4 kernal then I'm stoked

Clean Build
Anybody want to try a clean build? I am starting from scratch and my testers are MIA...lol. Just an FYI - nothing added for features, just need to know a base point. Should I test this on my own...yes...but I really don't have the time to flash stuff lately. But working on a build in the background while the wife uses the computer seems to be working out for me lol.
