Ok...yes root is working....when I hit the notification it asked me to reboot. At first I said later and the notification came back so I hit reboot and it took me to recovery. I rebooted from there and the notification has yet to come back. Thanks for your work

Thank!! I already purchased both of your apps for this kernel but one question. When messing around with the sound settings, I do not notice much difference. Did I do something wrong?

make sure all MUSIC/SOUND are off before adjusting the registers.
stop music / sound for 2~3 seconds,
adjust the sliders
start music / sound again.
be careful, it's fracking loud if you turn it all the way up!

I froze the seandroid apk with titanium and it stopped the noitification.....will that alter anything with kernel?

nope, it shouldn't

I haven't seen many quadrants yet on the S4, but I just ran one after flashing this kernel - here it is. Off the bat, seems impressive.

Howdy faux good to see you here! Thanks

Now we have CWM - Notification Indicator??

Hiya all,
Well, now that we have CWM and could mess around with the phone with ease, is it possible for someone with the knowledge to try and get someone kind of notification indicator working on this phone? It could either be a Mod or an app, either one will be great, but while we wait for great ROMs coming out, maybe someone can work on this? I know we don't have any indicator LED on the phone, so maybe we can work on using the softkey LEDs to indicate things like missed calls, incoming texts or IMs or emails, etc. It will be great if it's customizable but let's just start with getting it to work with the notifications.
Thanks in advance
What happened to that app you once posted about? any news from the developer?
If someone can compile a custom kernel, it would be fairly easy to integrate BLN
== What is the BLN mod? ==
The BLN mod turns the touchkey backlights into a notification led.
It enables any android application to use the touchkey backlights of your phone as a notification led.

No news from him. I will reach out to him again and see if he is more interested now that we have made much more progress, but I'm not holding my breath for him to follow up.
KernelPanic, I have no clue what to do with kernels so I'm gonna go n sit on the bench on this lol. Unless u or someone can instruct me on what needs to be done. And yeah, it'll be great if we can intergrate BLN into the Rom.
I'll see what I can do. Maybe I can compile a kernel with a few tweaks and BLN real soon.

Thank you very much for any support you can provide. Really much appreciated.
For now, those who would like to get some kind of notification via the softkey, Xigzil came through with updating his app to support our phone. You can look for the download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22047422#post22047422
Of course it will always be better if we can have BLN compiled into a kernel, much better to have it running natively rather than via an app, but for now, this can help us all.

Is there any way, or app that I can use to alert me via soft keys when new text messages arrive?

Of course, assuming you are on gingerbread and have a kernel that supports BLN.
app is BLN control
I am on ICS running the IML74K_Ics_Perfection II rom. I tried to install the Synergy kernel but ended up with a boot loop. Any ideas on how to remedy this issue or point me in the correct way.

Bud, you can't run gingerbread kernels on ICS. Which also means you can't have softkey notification on ICS. Flash aN ICS kernel and you'll be fixed.
From what I recall synergy is a gb kernel. U cannot use a gb kernel with an ics rom. Until source code is released, u have to pick. Either no ics, and bln control works, or use ics and forgo bln until source comes out
Thanks!
You can try an app called Noled, it doesnt use softkeys though. It uses the screen to light up icons.

I use BLN pro (ofcourse with a compatible kernel and a GB rom).
It's pretty neat and can be configured for your sofkeys to blink at a custom rate(I set mine at half a second off and on) so it looks like regular leds. Some iphone users think its pretty legit!
Only reason I have yet to switch to ICS is because of no BLN support, no OC and no DOCK audio

It's been awhile for sure. Trying to get back into things.
Perhaps you want to make your ROM M8_WHL compatible (Sprint m9)?

[MOD] [01/21/2016] GPE Dialer -- *Updated for Lollipop & MarshMallow*

Lollipop zip provided by: asif4self & MarshMallow zip provided by @bumpaneer. I am just posting these for everyone to use. Be sure to thank them both!
There have been issues reported of not getting calls at all, if that's the case be sure to have a nandroid, no one mentioned in this thread will be responsible for anything that happens to your device.
For the record this will remove stock sense dialer so make sure to make backups!
How to install:
1. Download zip Lollipop here - MM here
2. Place in SD or EXTSD if you downloaded on your computer.
3. Reboot to recovery.
4. NANDROID (seriously don't get mad at me or @asif4self or @bumpaneer if anything goes wrong and you don't have your own backup)
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache + Cache.
6. Install zip.
7. Reboot and enjoy!
If you have any questions just ask here. Also, don't forget to thank @asif4self & @bumpaneer.
Trying it now. if this works, I will profess my love in the manliest way possible.
Would u pls upload the screen shots ? Wanna see what it looks like. Thanks

It works! Didn't have sound for a bit, but it's up and working now.
As for professing love in a manly way, it's a lot of fumbling my words and kicking the dirt and I stare at my feet. Oh, and I possibly offend you unintentionally.

Thank you for this i like the GPE dialer instead of the sense one
I still use ExDialer, but would love to switch to GPE if I could get the same look out of it... black with dial-pad taking up less than half the space and at least 3.5 contacts from Call History showing at the top (plus swipe contact row right to call or left to txt).
Is any of that possible with any mods?
Thanks for this!
It's working for me with one small problem. The keypad doesn't seem to work in-call. Is this a known problem with a workaround?

My keypad works just fine during calls? What's your setup? Maybe try wiping app data via settings>apps>all and choose phone then clear data.
No dice. I had messed with trying to install GPE Dialer before finding this mod, so tomorrow I'll RUU and try it fresh to see how it goes.

Are you rooted? I'm running non-rooted stock Dev Edition ROM. Flashed the zip but new dialer does not show up. Still have Sense dialer and cannot find the GPE Phone icon in app drawer. I can see in the app in all Apps but no way to open the app.

I am rooted yes ... If sense still shows up means it didn't flash right... Or maybe disable sense phone app in settings>apps and reboot see if it shows up.

Keep in mind, it was buggy for me for about 5 minutes. Been working fine since.
I'll install one more time and give it a few hours. Is there any chance this is a problem for me because I'm on Verizon? Are dialer/phone mods like this carrier/radio agnostic?

Don't think by me. I don't own the device, sorry.
So I think I found a reason to have root access. The app Advanced Settings can supposedly adjust the vibration with root access.

Very interesting indeed.
Any change to the display driver settings to see if the red tint issue it's software addressable?
@Skin1980 I installed your kernel and the app Advanced Settings to change the vibration intensity. But no matter what I choose, I don't feel any difference. Can you or someone else confirm, that this is working with your kernel? Is there another way to change vibration intensity?

No one has figured out how to do it. Some of the other watches have a text file that controls the amp power for the vibration motor. This file is not there for the Huawei.
