[Q] Stupid one, but... - HTC One V

OK, I'm stupid... :silly:
How to make hov, when you connect it via usb to pc, that it's not charging?
Normally it charges, but, let's say, I have 80% battery and i'd just like to copy some files from pc to hov (or vice verse) and I don't want that charging mess with my battery life/status.
How to do it?

i get what u mean but i dont think there is any way to do that :S

It's probably something in the kernel..

i think u will have to modify the cable ! which no body wants to do ! i dont think charging can be stopped from doing something even in kernel Level ! where will the power supplied to the phone go ?:silly: .. but lol who knows ! maxwen can do magic ! but he probably wouldn't make somthing like this

I think that te HOV's usb interface gets the juice from the USB and not from the battery, but this is pure fiction (based on battery knowledge and some electronics, and some devices developed this way)

You can't. Whatever mode you set it in (Charge, Mass Storage, Sync), it'll still charge.

i think if you take your battery out, connect it to your pc it should turn on lyk when connected to charger, you battery cant charge if its not in
Why would you do that?
people should stop worrying about stuff like that.
nimh times are over.
charge it whenever you can. who cares...
Well maybe if you are using a laptop which is not connected to the ac, so you don't want the phone to drain the battery of your laptop?

Then don't keep it plugged into the laptop constantly? Move your files and unplug it. It's not like it'll sodomize your laptop's battery if you copy files for 15 mins.

I got a ]dell xps batteries for my iBook batteryup.com . While the battery itself seems to have held up better than the original apple battery in terms of how long it holds a charge, it doesn't fit in the case as well as an apple battery, and its rubber foot fell off. But in terms of basic functioning I have no complaints. It works fine.
Have you tried using ftp server. Then you wouldnt need to connect to your pc with usb.

Got another MicroUSB Cable? Try with that. If it still doesn't work, I would assume it to be a hardware issue.

I (probably) have the same problem.
Got an HTC Wildfire a few days ago. Didn't come with the original charger & cable.
The charger I got is 500mA. Problem is, it's barely charging and sometimes even discharging (while it's plugged in)
I've installed a couple of widgets to look into it (Battery Mix & CurrentWidget)
Battery Mix clearly shows the phone discharging while plugged in (as a graph), CurrentWidget says it's getting under 50mA (ranging from 15-45)
Right now it's off & charging. The battery was around 13% when I switched it off. Waited about 30 min, then turned it back on, it was at 42%.
I'm trying to exhaust all other options before I go out and get new hardware.
I'm wondering why the charger is only giving it <50mA and wondering if the problem lies with it, the battery, the cable or the phone itself.

And how you know your USB is recognized? Are you able to start the ROM?
Are you have battery to flash custom recovery and go in recovery and charge the phone?
First is good to answare to questions!!!
If no download this fastboot.zip extract to a fastboot folder and put your phone in fastboot usb start the file chargeONEX.bat the phone will start to restart a lot of times wait until you see more then 3680mv in the cmd.

plug into pc see if its even recognized if not lg waranty or a new battery
Try these steps
Hold down power button for 30s at least and try power again
If that doesn't work
Pull battery
If that doesn't work
Pull Battery and clean prongs where battery connects and battery prongs
Try different charger
If that doesn't work
Clean charging port with toothpick GENTLY....again GENTLY and dont jam it inbetween the side it doesn't fit where connector is
I have the same problem since today.
Does not start, not even Download Mode is accessable.
Seems like I have to send it to repair, but then I'll lose my data right?
I have data that I don't want to lose on that :/
Did you try steps I posted
Except for the different charger I've tried the options.
I think a different charger would not help anyways :/

plug into pc and see how device manager reconizes the device
Consider another charging block
If not go to local repair shop have them test the charging port for voltage
---------- Post added at 02:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:56 AM ----------
Also try this....hold down the power button 30s
Considering you can't turn it on
Charge it for an hour or so. Battery might be completely drained
If your charging block, battery doesn't need to be replaced, and charging port has voltage
You would need to send it in
---------- Post added at 03:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 AM ----------
Easy way to check the charging port without going to shop is
Does the cable going into charging port wiggle around and is loose? Or is it firm

He took the battery out and connect the phone to the computer, it's recognized as Qualcomm 9008 (or something like that). Is it the famous bootloop or is there anything we can do?

You might be able to follow the lgg4 hardbricked threads. Theres a few diffrent ones goin on now. In the generalsection. I dont own a g4 anymore. So if its changed and is bootlooped u may be able to disable the big cores. To stop it from bootlooping. Dont get hopes up yet. But thats a start

We've checking a few, seems like root is needed. Do you know how to root it? it's H818P MM, can't find it so far.
And there's a bit update. The phone was a few months died, now after I charge the battery using external charger and trying to turn on the phone. There's nothing happened, probably because the juice is not strong enough, but now there's a battery animation with a question mark when I connect it to the computer without the battery (still recharging the battery again).

Your batter may be completely dead
Mention this before
This is a common issue, it happened to m last month. You can try anything with you PC it wont work because the problem comes from the main board.
Just contact LG and get your phone repaired.
