[Q] Pixel always blue on Note 2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, about two weeks ago, I bought a Galaxy Note 2. I think it is a great phone, but since yesterday there is a single subpixel that is always blue. It only becomes dark when I lock the screen or when I shut down my note 2. Since a "stuck" pixel is only possible with LCD screens, and not with OLED screens, I was wondering whether I should contact samsung for a replacement or if there is another way to fix it. I know it's only one tiny pixel, but it is still very annoying when the screen is a bit dark (only when the screen is white, the blue pixel is invisible, but that is just because red, green and blue make white).
Does anyone have suggestions?

[Q] Stuck Pixel Desire HD

Hello,
few weeks ago [3 may 2011] i bought a new desire HD
and today, i realized there's a stuck pixel at the top right panel near the clock, the panel gray and the stuck pixel just colour almost same, take time and focus to realize it.
i create a new thread because all other threads of the stuck pixel didn't give me any solution
and this stuck pixel not just stuck in 1 colour
but,
when the screen is white, the pixel is red
when screen blue, its blue [dissapear]
when screen light purple, its light purple
when screen black, its black
when screen green, its blue
idk if the pixel really gone when its blue or purple, but my eyes are normal i guess..
JscreenFix tested, 1 hour, no work
tapping, scrubing, massage method, no work
is there any other method that you recommend?
i didn't root the phone yet because it still in Warranty, and i guess if i bring it to HTC Care, i won't get a new unit, but a new lcd, and the mechanic sure open the phone and broke the void sticker..
any suggestion?

[Q] Who else is getting the dingy yellowish white color problem?

So my Note 2 and some others are experiencing dull and yellowish white contrast as talked about in this POST. Also this POST shows the Note 2 being much brighter. We've tested this with both units on high brightness and dynamic mode on, with the browser brightness all the way up as well. I even did a hard reset, and the low brightness dingy whites are still there on the Note 2. I'm looking into returning the phone for a replacement through the AT&T store I bought it from. Most people don't have this problem on their Note 2's so it seems like its only affecting a few units, but we need to get this out in the open. Maybe there are two different panel types shipping out. Please check and compare your Note 2's white's brightness compared to other Note 2's and other original notes and report here.
I'm also seeing the same dirty white screen. I might go to the local AT&T store to compare it with another Note 2 if they have a demo unit. If anyone can do this and get side by side comparisons I'd like to see this. I hesitate to do a replacement because they are probably only going to offer a refurbished unit as a replacement and the chances are it's going to be another unit with the same issue.

The AT&T store said they would order me a new one. When I called customer care (611) they would only offer a refurbished phone. So stick to the exchanging it at the store. The store I bought it from doesn't have any more in stock but are willing to order me a new one.
You know what stop comparing note 2 to other screens. Every screen has different color calibration and software versions effect this.
My first phone was galaxy s1 and the screen seemed fine since I had no other phone to compare but I compared to my ipod touch 2nd gen. Sgs1 had blue tint. Then I got sgs2 and the screen was very purplish compared to my friends sgs2.
I was obsessed to get the perfect screen so I changed it 5 times. 1 for the dead pixel and 2nd for the white spot on tje screen and the last 3 for the purplish hue. 3rd phone was really purple and obviously something was wrong. And I checked all the phones that are on display in various stores they had yellowish hue. But still compared to sgs1 it had warmer whites. Now I have note 2 and I recently put all 4 of them side by side and compared.
Sgs1: cool blue tint, looks very unnatural.
Sgs2: has a red hue compared to sgs1 but still looks not as warm (red) compared to itouch.
Note2: compared to sgs1&sgs2 it has a warmer white, much much better color balance of them all. However compared to itouch I realized it has a yellow hue.
BUT!!!! I compared it to my laptop's white and 40" lcd tv's white, note 2 still as not yellow as my laptop and tv.
If I were you I would try to enjoy the phone instead of comparing it unless its an obvious defect. Each screen is different and has to be calibrated. Its just means the calibration is different then other devices.
I have to admit, when I compared note 2 to itouch I was surprised by the yellow hue but I am not gonna go and change it again. Not every 2 screen is the same.
Think that your "note2 doesnt have a yellow hue" , maybe its your old note has a blue hue?
Also if you tilt the screen and look it from different angles you will see yellow hue disappear. I had the exact same thing on sgs2. You have to live with it. I am %100 sure even if you change 5 times you will end up with the same problem.
Wow fukn bs yellow ****

warfanax is pretty right I went and exchanged it today for another note 2 and it looks the same an 4 units tested in store, all had warm whites....so that being said the OG note still has a brighter "looking"screen and brighter whites even if they are blue it gives the appearance of being brighter. Oh well, I'll live with it for the quad core and 2 gigs of ram though. Cant have everything...
I don't have the programming knowledge but don't think an app that changes screen colors is very hard to make. Some kind of color boost is already included in our phones in display section.
There was an app like that for sgs1 that let you tweak RGB colors.

Thanks for the link but that app only washed the screen out with the contrast adjustment. It washed out the black levels. I just realized that I'm running Paranoid Android on my original Note and under Settings>Display there is an option for filtering and dimness. Its set to (20) by default. If I lower the number to like 10 it then matches my note 2's screen brightness at 100%. Its as if this Paranoid Android setting makes the back light on the Note 1 put out brighter (while killing battery life I'm sure) while still keeping the black levels black. Could this setting be what is making my note look brighter than my note 2 and can settings like those be applied with a new rom or an app on the Note 2?
I exchanged out my Grey GN2 for a white version for another defect issue yesterday and the screen on this new phone is definitely whiter. I'm happy, but I agree with others that the yellowish screen was probably due to normal manufacturing tolerance variations.

I'm within my 14 day window so I'm going to go to the ATT store and compare mine to another GN2 and if mines deficient I'll have them replace it. Will post back with results in a few days.

Should I return this FHD nexus 7?

Hello
I found 3 blue big stuck pixels, 1 tiny white stuck pixel, and minor light bleeds with a significant but little leakage at the back button spot. All of these were found under dark room when displaying black. Unfortunately I got no camera good enough to shoot under the dark condition.
The tiny white stuck pixel is nearly invisible. About 2 to 3 pixels big.
Light bleed bothers me a bit but it is almost unrecognizable in a normal usage.
Blue stuck pixels are the weird ones (they too are invisible in normal usage). Even though they are relatively big, they can be only seen when displaying black. Cannot be seen in any other colors. What would these be?
Also I bought my nexus7 in the eBay. This means that I have to pay for shipping back if I want a refund. Also there is no guarantee that I am not getting a worse one.
Should I ask for an exchange or keep it?
Thanks

[Q] Dead/stuck pixel or what is this?

Hello, I have trouble with my Nexus 7 2013. I have got new device a few days ago and I found dead/stuck pixel at the bottom left corner of my screen. For me it looks like dead/stuck pixel, but after several tests I am not sure.
I can see it only at max brightness (at lowest or medium it is almost invisible) and ONLY at black color.
If I will turn a little bit my device it changes color for green, red (at least I think it looks like red or green) etc.
I did several tests with that app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.chris.blackspotdetect
And I cannot see that pixel in any of those colors built-in app, except on black color (it is clearly visible on black background).
My question is: is it dead or stuck or anything yet pixel?
Thanks for any help,
best regards

it could be a dead pixel, but my advice is to return and get it replaced while you can because later it may be half of your screen or worse!
And I will Thanks for pushing my mind forward, I was afraid of sending it for warranty, but I have no choice.
Isn't there a number of dead pixels there has to be before you can send it to warranty/exchange it?

S4 mini i9195 and true black amoled

Hi,
I'm wondering if the s4 mini has true black screen values when in total darkness. Mine seems to be a faint glowing gray when showing black colors. On my S4 (the big one) black is truly black, my Note 3 had this as well. Now i'm wondering if this is because at one point my s4 mini's screen was replaced, and i got a bad screen, or has samsung used older amoled screens like the one on the S3? What are your screens like? Also, has the VE (i9195i) edition updated the screen? I can only see the issue when in a totally dark room, under normal light i can't detect it. Would like to know, cause i love reading at night
the s4 mini was one of the first to use a s-stripe technology if i remember correctly and that is superior than the pentile on the other devices you have and most other Samsung phones as of late.. that is except for burn in and degrading. The screen on my 9195 had screen burn in within months of owning it and after the first year had a solid yellow tint permanently on it. Oled degrades fast and maybe that what you're finally noticing?
I do not notice a yellow tint, just a faint glow in the dark, as if there is a backlight active.
I have 2 screens here, from I9192 and I9195 and both don't display true black
Ok, thanks for confirming this. Anyone with a i9195i (ve) here? I reckon they probably used the same screens.

I have rebuilt all models, they use the same(ish) screens. the ribbon cables are different but the displays appear to be the same.
