[Q] Kindle fire second gen 6.3.2 root help - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Ok i am trying to prep my KF2 for custom rom install and can't find any rooting method for 6.3.2. So i tried to update to the latest stock software on the KF2 and nothing work, sync for over the air wifi and manual nothing takes. I reset to factory clean and still won't take best i get is the update button will light up once i place the update on the kindle but all it does it start to update then deletes the file from itself! KFU is only for first gen and will brick my device, can't install ADB drivers and wouldn't matter if i did at this point for 6.3.2 on the KF2 has no option to enable such feature. About all i have done was install the SDK for android provided in the KF2 root forums. I am totally new to this and want to rid myself of amazon rom and its limitations so any help on how to root 6.3.2 on a second gen kindle fire would be greatly appreciated.

There is no 6.3.2 for the kf2.
I think you may have an original kindle

Ah that's possible since i only googled the model number and it came up with second gens not like it was solid research lol. Thanks i will look deeper then proceed with KFU

Seems i can't install the drivers provided with KF utility running win8 x64

You have to boot up in unsigned driver mode and install the drivers manually through device manager
Just be careful. Make sure you only follow directions in the first gen forums. The model number is the same for first and second generation, but the device is way different. You can always tell which one you have by the software version.

[Q] Installing twrp & rom

Hello, everyone. I'm having some trouble trying to figure out how to install twrp so I can flash my Kindle Fire with ICS.
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to figure it out for some reason, this is what I've done so far.
I couldn't figure out how to properly set up the Kindle Fire Utility so I looked for an alternative
and managed to root my Kindle Fire with "QemuRoot_v1.0". After it worked, I went back to
KFU and installed the the google apps/play store using "Kindle_Fire_Utility_v0.9.6".
So the Kindle Fire is rooted and found this guide on how to install twrp but I can't figure out
how to configure it. I have installed terminal emulator, busybox, and goomanager but didn't
see the file I needed "devs/smirkis" so I downloaded the dropbox link.
I'm not sure were I should put the zip or how to flash it, different forums suggested using
a file manager and changing the extension to .apk but it doesn't work.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Okay your headed south with this one real fast. Do you have a 1st gen. Kindle or 2nd because if it's a 2nd gen you cannot install a recovery or ics. QemuRoot_v1.0 is for the 2nd gen. Kindle small chance it could work on 1st gen. but I doubt it, which leads me to believe your kindle is 2nd gen. and your headed towards a permanent brick that there's no rescue for.
I'm gonna agree with The Pooch here, but if by a slim chance that your kindke is a first gwn, then you could just put the smirkit scripts into system/ect and try running them from terminal your self but I wpulnd recommend it because we aren't sure about your kindle yet..

Hmm.. I'm note entirely sure what it is. It's the 7in Display with 8Gb; was 159 and has the ads on lock screen (can't be taken away). Like I said I was only able to get QemuRoot_v1.0 to work, at the moment I have the Play Store, and a bunch of other apps like the terminal and droidwall.
I assume that the 2nd gen could be the Kindle Fire HD? Sorry about the late reply.
Yeah its 2nd gen. like I said do not attempt to flash a recovery or a bootloader to that device or it will be permanently bricked a really fine 159$ hockey puck!!!

I had the same problem when i was trying to root my KF 2 10.2.4
Lots of information on XDA forum, but not unified for this version of software.
After spending several hours reading the treads, i was able to do it and motivated to create a blog about this
So i wrote 2 articles, one how to root and one how to install a custom rom, containing links to XDA treads and goodies
Do you still need help?

[Q] kindle fire unrecognized in windows. adb does not work. No SO. bricked

hello.
I write this post because right now I'm desperate. my kinde fire was rooted and works great. I wanted to install an unofficial ROM and there came all problems.
first of all I want to say that I resort to this message because I've tried everything, but I did manage to save my device.
My Kindle was rooted and TWRP works well. I inadvertently left the device without an operating system. I forgot to put a rom after you wipe. After this, when the device booted, first came out the white and orange logo, then white and blue recovery and eventually returned to the first logo.
First I tried to recover it with the original firmware. I could not access the device via the file browser windows, so I copied the. zip with adb push. after several attempts I went to plan B, because I always got the same "error 7", so I tried to install the cyanogen rom, but I had the same fate.
After that, I was reading about fastboot, so I downloaded kindle fire utility. I think something went here even worse, because now TWRP gone.
I finally discovered unbrick kindle utility, but now my pc does not recognize the device. drivers are installed and kindle fire utility says "adb: online", but I can not access the device.
I searched a lot of information, but I think I am increasingly far from the solution, so I decided to write this post.
anyone can help me to recover the kindle? I'm desperate now. I'd like to have everything as before, I do not lose the root
thanks!!!

This forum is full of people doing the same thing. Why do people keep using tools that will brick their device, even though there are other posts saying it will happen.
Frustrating.

Hi. I was just commenting that a lot of people are rushing into doing things without reading, or even checking what model they have. Admittedly Amazon hasn't made it easy by advertising it as the Kindle Fire 2. All the recent posts in this section of the forum are from people bricking their devices, mainly because they did something wrong.
I don't know how the situation can be changed, apart from building some checks into the KF1 rooting/modding tools.

Happened to me too after the 10.4.6 update.
I used KF First Aide though and got root working again:

After Root -> sluggish Kindle with flashing logo
Hi,
I root me Kindle Fire v2 (v10.4.6) to, with the software KFFirstAide but I got several problems.
1. software can't find and install busybox.apk
2. software shows me the message "all fine" but the kindle is sluggish and the boot logo is always flashing every 2 or 3 sec.
The Software-Option to remove this problem doesn't work - i get always a error back.
Is there an option to fix this?
If i use the kindle option: factory reset, all works fine again but root is off.
....
root
Is it worth rooting the kindle fire? I've been thinking any doing it and flashing a rom
---------- Post added at 03:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:16 PM ----------
One thing I like abt rooting is that it gets rid of the special offers which get annoying after awhile
Is it possible to change the original ROM-Version 10.4.6. directly to CyanogenMod 10.1.3? ( cm-10.1.3-otter2.zip) or does I need a factory cable for a downgrade or some other fixes? My only experience with CM is a Samsung N7000
That's not a downgrade, the kindle doesn't run CyanogenMod by default. You have to install 2nd bootloader+ twrp to flash custom ROMs. Look here for info and make sure to downgrade the boot loader first, and I can't stress enough to check the md5sum of the boot loader when you download it, you don't want a hard brick from a bad download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963

How do I root a 1st gen Kindle Fire running 6.3.4 using Linux, Ubuntu 16.10?

All of the threads that I have read are using Windows and are using a Kindle Fire version earlier than 6.3.4. None use Ubuntu. Also, that thing about getting into USB debugging doesn't seem to work with this version. Can anyone please help me. I would also like to know how to get TWRP installed and flash a custom rom onto the Kindle.
Thanks.
