Boot Loop After Rooting - HTC One X

Hey Everyone!
I've been trying to fix this problem for hours with no luck, and while I've found solutions that have worked for others I can't find one that is specific enough to my situation.
So I just got an HTC One X that is locked to Rogers today from Kijiji, and I love it - great phone. The thing I didn't like was the hoard of stock apps that took up about four pages on the app drawer, so I thought hey, I'll root it and delete them. I didn't have any intention of using any custom ROMs, just wanted superuser permission to delete stock apps. Unlocking went fine (finding the token and what not using the app I found on here), and the rooting seemed to go alright until it turned off and didn't start again. I pulled out the cable from the computer and now things are weird..
I can sometimes get into the hboot, but when I try to just start the phone normally it goes to the HTC splash screen and has red writing telling me "this build is for development purposes only", etc etc. I really wanted to get rid of those stock apps but at this point I just want my phone working again. Am I screwed?
Thanks in advance.

Re:
Little update: I just figured out how to re-lock it assuming that might make my factory reset work.. it didn't.

Try here.
You may be in the wrong forum, this is for Tegra3 One X. I'm not sure though so don't quote me on it.

Re:
Hmm I didn't see a Rogers specific one so I wasn't sure. As for the link you posted it might have worked but a don't have a TWRP backup? I didn't think it was necessary to make a backup as I wasn't even trying to flash a custom ROM, just get myself superuser permission.

You haven't bricked your HOX yet. I would look into getting a recovery on to it, from there you'll be able to flash a RUU to get back to where you started. Make sure you get the right instructions for your phone though.
You might get some info here

Re:
Thanks! I'm trying to find the RUU for my phone. I've found the one for the AT&T version with LTE, but mine is the one without it. Will the same RUU work? Thanks

Don't flash anything from here!! You are in the wrong forum m8!
This is the correct forum for you : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538

AHH thanks! I just thought the XL one was for the LTE model?

No I've no way. When I try nothing happens. Can't boot, go to recovery.I've lost all that. With the from being called trickster, NO OFFENCE! but I feel like I have been .
I've no way in to the phone. It works normally, except I can't go to recovery or re boot etc.

I swear I cant even begin to imagine how stuff like this happens.
@op, boot to bootloader, reflash cwm with fastboot. Reboot to recovery straight from bootloader, wipe data/factory reset, reflash favourite rom.

if you cant get into bootloader and/or recovery, i highly doubt it has anything to do with the rom. most likely a coincidence. getting into the bootloader/recovery has nothing to do with having root. even if you lost root, youd be able to use the rom, just not the apps or functions that needed root. btw, what error message do you get? maybe some more info is needed here, like what version galaxy nexus? and selling someone else a broken phone is wrong, unless youre selling it cheap and the person buying it knows that its not functional.

SORRY! Just checked your links but I've no way to put the code in! I'm that locked out! When I try I just get errors.I can use the from its just plain vanilla ics, I'm using the phone now. It's a GSM unlocked international. The phone is not broken at all just no way to root it again. I will of course point it out. Its got 4.4 ics and the update link. I'd happily buy it if I did not root

[Q] I don't know exactly what is wrong HELP!!!

I have an HTC EVO V and I have unlocked the bootloader, however, when I attempted to 'flash a new ROM' the file called for 'CWM-SuperSU-v0.87' -however- I saw the upgraded version 'CWM-SuperSU-v0.96' so, instead of using the prescribed file I saved the new one instead to my phone. I then 'deleted the cache' and if I remember correctly my phone screen went the white background with green lettering and was stuck on that screen for probably 10min? So, I took out the battery and I had my stock ROM but when I went to change clocks, my widget clocks were gone and also, I am trying to flash the stock ROM to get them back I guess? But, I am unable to flash a ROM now or even root my phone. I hope I have not soft bricked it! I know it's probably just a file that needs to be uploaded or something but I don't know what to do to fix this and if someone helps me here I promise I won't do it again! Please help me! I want to root my phone but I don't care about flashing a rom now I just want my phone to do whatever I want and when I am more comfortable with flashing ROM's then I will try that but for now Rooting is all I need with my original ROM.
What method did you use to unlock your bootloader?

OK, I am not trying to spam and I am a new member -well old but I have never posted before that I can remember- But here is where I fonud the info for the process htcevohacks htc-evo-4g-lte-root how-to-root-htc-evo-4g-lte unlock-bootloadertwrp-recovery/[/url]
I brought it up to the point where I erased the cache. Then I am not exactly sure what happened after this. But it was stuck on the white HTC screen.

That method is for the EVO 4G LTE. The forum for that device can be found here:

So I think my HTC One V is bricked, can someone help?

So, I previously had an optimus v, which is like the easiest phone to root and get roms for and what not. Well i was hoping that the One V would be the same, it was not.
So I tried to install some rom that i liked after going through the unlocking and rooting process, and it had a restarting problem where every 5-15 seconds after it would boot it would restart. I found a solution (kind of) to that but most of the links where dead so i had to find them on my own. It led me to putting a custom kernel on it and that did not fix it, so i saw something that getting the OTA update that came out a while ago could cause this, and the only way to return it was to use RUU (i still had a custom kernel at this point, i think) so i got the (hopefully) correct recovery.img from RUU and i flashed that and the next step is to relock the device, so i did via command prompt, and i started RUU up again and it was doing its thing and ended in an error 155. I have tried several times and it has still not worked. I found some stuff saying that the HBOOT i have which is 1.57 doesnt have a supported RUU or something to that effect ( i found lots of conflicting information).
So now i am stuck with a phone that only goes to the bootloader menu and because its relocked i cant flash anything to it.
I have tried fastboot oem unlock and that came up with a command error, and everything else i try to flash just fails.
Any help is welcome and a thank you in advance to anyone that helps.

You should be able to flash a stock RUU for your device while it's in the bootloader menu from here:
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=Primo
make sure to download the correct RUU for your carrier/radio band and if its GSM (PRIMOU) or CDMA (PRIMOC), or you can screw it up more.
What network carrier are you with?
EDIT:, Just re-read your post, sorry. I don't know if anyone has posted a RUU for the updated radio, that Virgin Mobile released, you may need to get ahold of Football on this forum and see if he's still helping find/sell RUU's that you need.
Back in the day I had to get ahold of him to get the RUU for my phone that wasn't listed on any RUU site.

I paid like $13 for mine, but it gave me piece of mind should the phone ever soft brick or hard brick with boot, that I can recover it and not lose a phone. I don't know if he's even around anymore, but I posted a thread in general asking if he was. I am on Alltel, but one of my family members bought an HTC One V with the updated radio, so for her I couldn't do anything but root. I know there are a few new radio friendly ROM's in the CDMA section of this forum that would of boot with a custom rom and the kernel.

yeah i found some ROM's that will work only after this happened. In my research i found something about downgrading HBOOT i only saw it on other phones and it did not look like something i wanted to mess with. And my HTC One V is CDMA on Virgin Mobile.

UPDATE: So i figured it out, I went and i reflashed the Unlock_code.bin file and now its back to unlocked again. Thanks to FreakyFreakGA to doing his best to help me out.
Be sure to flash an OTA-compatible ROM. Try RhythmicROM or CyanPrimo, both of which I've used for a long time and can attest that they are better HTC One V ROMs.

I never tried to go back to stock, I'm running rhythmic ROM, can't link right now but it seems to work pretty well, its slightly faster than stock when all my stuff is on there and the only problem so far is sometimes when you lock the device and then quickly unlock it then it will freeze and restart.

Yeah I just flashed Rhythmic. Seems pretty nice by my wifi is having some weird authentication problem. It doesn't seem like there are very many ROMs out there that would work though.

Yeah, make sure you find the right version for your radio, virgin mobile made a terrible move by updating it so you cant do much with it.
Or kernel or something, anyways mine was v5.2 and it was a pain, i think there was a lot more kernels available for older versions.
Best of luck, and if you are having problems with authentication then try using WPS, in some cases it fixes those types of problems.

[Q] Help out a new guy?

Hi.
I am very new to the world of rooting and all that stuff, in fact, I have never even attempted to root any of my phones. I currently own HTC One X (International version) which is running the newest Sense 5 Android 4.2.2. update. I tried to follow some youtube videos on how to root my One X but they are all a year old at least and are demonstrated on the stock version of Sense that was on my One X when I got it.. Now I know I am a huge noob at this but I would just like to ask if somebody can guide me trough or at least give me a link to some kind of guide/tutorial which will work on the newest update for my One X. I am very cautious because I don't want to harm my phone by doing something stupid or wrong. Anyways, hope somebody can spare a minute and help me out. And also thanks for taking the time to read my post!

So this works for Sense 5 update? Does it even matter which version I am running on my phone for rooting?

Things are starting to get a little bit more clear now. I managed to unlock the bootloader so far. Before I go any further, is there anything I should look out for, what could go wrong? I've read that if I mess something up I could brick my phone, how can I avoid that? Also, thanks a lot for helping me out!

after you unlocked the bootloader flash custom recovery. then do a nandroid backup. then flash supersu/superuser then do nandroid backup again. you now have 2 backups of stock rom and stock rom(rooted) and when you flash custom rom make a backup again. eat will eat up space in storage but its better be safe.

"System update available"

Hi,
terribly sorry to bother you guys!
I recently bought an M9 (Belgium, no carrier) and rooted it with the help of this youtube video /watch?v=rOHN8byHAzk
works fine, it's rooted.
The thing is: i did updates before doing the root, as i unlocked bootloader everything was lost/deleted, at the time (4a.m), with my brain half asleep i didn't think about doing the updates again before performing the actual root. Now i keep getting the "system update available" message and can't get rid of it.
It'll keep popping up every few hours, obviously i can't install them because i arrive back at twrp recovery.
Android version 5.0.2
Kernel version 3.10.49-g5c16a62
I turned software updates off in the "about" section in settings, to no avail. I keep getting the message that updates are available. Downloading them and then proceeding to remove the downloaded files don't solve it.
I'm a total noob at this, but (hopefully) not a complete idiot. If there are any steps i can take to get rid of this constantly popping up, please advise me:fingers-crossed:
There's more than one possibility to proceed. Could you provide the output of the "htc_fastboot getvar all" command, when M9 is in download mode (without IMEI and Serial no.). I'd like to point you into the right direction.
Send by the swarm intelligence of my coffee machine ?.
Thanks for taking the time!
It's in download mode, i've got my command prompt open but it says "htc_fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external command, program or batchfile"
In all honesty just pay for s-off and you can flash an unsigned zip and be done with it.
Otherwise you need to get back to official status to flash the update. Pita to be honest.

I'm going to take a few days off of work and try to educate myself on how all of this works exactly because i'm starting to feel like i just came out of the stone age. Basically, there is a safety feature in HTC otas now that prevents them from running unless your phone is 100% stock. So being rooted, it won't run. There are only two ways forward, find the RUU files for your carrier and install them, or get s-off and update manually. There are multiple threads on how to do all this in the General forum. Read there before doing anything else. HTC phones work differently from other handsets that have to be hacked to achieve root. There is an official path, but how you do it matters.

The easiest working solution i found for the issue is to go to the Apps management (Settings, apps), go to "All", select "Updater" and then clear data.
No pop ups so far.
