Hello!
I would give 9/10 to my Samsung galaxy grand duos.
I sold my Samsung galaxy mini 3 and then bought this one.
I have for about a week.
I am testing it to the limit even though it is my daily phone.
I rooted it.
Positive:
+The fastest device I had so far, no lags. Fast on games. Fast fast fast.
+ Big screen. The most comfortable smartphone for web browsing, Facebook, games and stuff.
+Great speaker sound.
+Sublime battery endurance.
+ Dual SIM features work flawlessly.
Negative:
-The screen is too reflective. Not a deal breaker.
-The phone feels big in my hand, and I have big hands.
-did not use the camera yet but I saw some reviews that indicates a low performance under low light conditions.
-Only 8TH of internal storage. You can use an sd card but your data will stay on the internal memory. It is a real issue to the unrooted phones.
If you need more informations just ask!

Have been using this phone for 2 months..
Performance is good . I never experienced any lag . Display is also good its bright and vivid..I didn't use the dual sim much but I checked it at the time of purchase. .It was working fine and there is better control over selecting sim..camera is also nice but I missed burst mode ..Battery backup is ok for me almost getting one day.( with heavy use of 3g, calls and messaging)

Already read so many reviews from different sites at time of buy.. I will give 8/10. One for no more key lime pie support and other one for less driver support from broadcom chipset. So official support for cyanogenmod and Dev will be less... Overall it's a good phone with less game support from playstore because of broadcom chipset.. It's my 4th month with grand. No issues at all..

My review... get i9082 instead of i9082L. Y? Cos more dev support. Period.

I thought I might start a thread for people who are getting or want to get the Xperia ZL coming from the Galaxy Note 2.
I myself just listed mine up for sell to pay for the ZL I could had last week but didnt know so I canceled it which I should not have
So Will you be switching from the Note 2?
Kind of "I selling my horse to bay an donkey" story! But maybe you can explain why?

What he meant is Galaxy Note 2 is better than the Sony ZL. I want to try one but but it is more expensive than the note 2. I am not a Samsung fan but I have to admit that No other smart phones can beat the Note 2 right now.
I just sold my note 2...going get xperia zl when it becomes available...

Ha ha.. Sold my note2 as well in a heartbeat as soon I laid my hands upon the ZL. And I'm very happy with my decision.
Apart from the bigger screen & battery life on note2, I find everything else better on the ZL (which also doesn't have buggy emmc nor corrupts those 64gb SanDisk SDXC cards like note2/GS3 ).
Sold note 1 for zl tho.. Im quite satisfied. My samsung experience was horrible. Batt bloated 3xs for one year of usage. Cant waste more money.

It really depends on how u use it. If u like to simply point and shoot, I would say Samsung (note2/GS3) is bit better for day photography, but Sony is better for indoors & night shots. But, if you workaround (play with different modes/settings ), then Xperia camera beats Samsung's, whether day or night. I've had some decent shots with my note2, but some really good ones with the ZL. Having said that, I have no doubt that the camera hardware is much better in the ZL, but sony really need to fix the default high ISO preference (auto mode) & resulting loss of sharpness (due to over smoothening). Besides, I feel that Samsung camera software is zippier, with better optimised post processing, but always liked the colours (also details due to higher pixel count) captured by Sony more than by Samsung.

I don't know about Dpk1's experience, but I've had better luck with getting good pictures switching to Normal mode instead of using the default Superior+ mode. I seem to be able to get the right exposure and focus on a consistent basis this way.

Try this. What I usually do is use the auto mode with auto flash at night/poor light, and Normal mode with ISO auto, hdr off, center metering, flash off in bright light. For indoors ISO 200/400, flash off, hdr off, average metering. For landscapes (in daylight), the scene mode "landscape" does a decent job. I'm yet exploring other options. I've also noticed that auto mode sometimes delivers quite good results even in daylight (its a hit or miss). Burst mode (mid) does provide crisp images in bright daylight. Sony really needs to improve on the post processing, i.e reduce & optimise its aggressive noise reduction. Hope it helps.
Iv been a Note 2 user since it came out and i have zero complaints..I wanted to give the ZL a try because i figured google wallet would work on an unlocked phone. When i got the ZL i was very happy. But the happiness didnt last long. I love the looks of the phone but there are alot of downsides that i experienced (which might not be what you guys experience).
First the size, im so used to using the big note 2 its hard to use something smaller even if it is only .5 smaller. its a big difference when you type and web browse etc.
2nd, google wallet doesnt work unless you root and tweak and tweak and etc..i want google wallet working straight out of the box since its an unlocked non carrier specific phone with nfc.
3rd, the signal on the ZL is not the greatest, it doesnt seem to get my wifi signal too well compared to my note 2 and it would be in hsdpa(+) mode in an LTE area sometimes where my note 2 would be in LTE all the time. also the LTE signal is weaker by one bar compared to my note 2.
4th, the screen is beautiful and crisp but the note 2 screen seems so much brighter and more vibrant, thats just my opinion.
5th, camera start up time is like 4 seconds..this is on the initial start up..from then when i close the camera and reopen it it starts up within 2 seconds which the note 2 does every single time.
6th, i compared the call quality to the note 2 since i heard the quality on the ZL was awesome. I heard alot of hissing noise when calling someone and during the call. I know that has alot to do with the network but when i called on the note 2 right after i get no hissing noise. its just a cleaner call quality on the note 2..much cleaner..for me
7th, battery. I knew going into this the battery wouldnt compare to the note 2 but my god the battery sucks..im to used to the note 2 lasting 2 days.
8th, the loud speaker sounds good but the note 2 speaker blows it away..there is a big difference in the speaker quality and music output
there were few other minor issues like the notification light bug which i got around and fixed it.. but those r the main ones..so im keeping my note 2 and selling the ZL..I hope you guys have a better experience with the ZL than me..i wanted to like this phone so bad but it cant beat the note 2 sorry guys.
I LOVE The size of my zl but its sitting in a box. I ordered a note 2 and should be here Monday. The value of the zl dropped big time. I paid 635 when it came out and I can't even sell it used for 500

Well
I Just ordered a Xperia ZL today - Will be here Tuesday - Paid $515 delivered to me - Put my Note II for sale online and locally.
The 1080p Screen and easier "pocket-ability" is what got me Interested - and the fact that I could get it for almost nothing after I sell my Note II.
It was an impulse buy as it was a good price and only 2 of them were available.
This thread has me wondering - I expect the battery life to be less - But I think I'll be happy with it.

Battery life is definitely note2's forte (7hrs vs 5.5hrs screen time for me). But I am enjoying my ZL and certainly don't miss my note2 (sold). It's more portable & fits in pocket/hand better than note2. I'm much impressed with sony's build quality! Mine survived a 3ft drop (without case) on concrete floor with minor scratches on two edges, which note2 certainly wouldn't have imo. I think the call signal/volume is as good as on note2 (even louder maybe) on C6502. Camera launches faster than note2 within 1-1.5 secs from screen off/sleep (using camera button). Default sound quality (via headphones) is better on the ZL to my ears & speakers are loud enough (note2 was louder). I can't even think of going back to 270ppi AMOLED display after being spoiled by super crisp 441ppi Sony ZL's display! Reading text is much better on ZL, its like night and day for me !
Remember, every device has its pros n cons. So, don't be bothered and enjoy your new purchase!

Any problems?

So I'm thinking about picking up a galaxy note 8.0. Just wondering if anybody has run into any issues or problems with the device?

The only problem I got is that I can't leave it alone
The screen is very bright and colorful
The battery life is good
The performance is great
it charges in a few hours so you can go back to use it
In terms of experience ruining, game breaking, regret inducing, where-is-my-receipt sorta problems, nothing as of yet. I've only managed to come up with a tiny list of minor annoyances (like the position of the speakers and accidentally hitting the back button while in landscape), but nothing that's pushed me over the edge. In fact, of all the Android tablets I've owned (Xoom, Nook Color, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Nexus 7, Transformer TF300T), this is hands down the most useful and practical I've owned.
So how is the battery life? I.e. how long of continuous use before needing to charge?

I really like tee tablet and it is a considerable upgrade to my N7 in every way, even without considering the s-pen functionality.
But since you asked for quibbles, here are two....
In my experience, the IR blaster weak enough that to call it a "blaster"us misleading. More of an "IR crawler".
If you are a really big fan of Hulu (I've met one person), the Hulu app has a framerate stutter at the moment (but the ads are silky smooth).
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
After nearly a week of use I have no real quibbles. The biggest one is I hate the stock lockscreen but that... that is changed easily enough. So far the device is very responsive and snappy, has less lag with pen input than my note 10.1, and the screen while not the highest resolution by any means looks very, very nice!

How is the gaming performance of Note 8? Can you play all latest games with out any lag with good frame rates?
Also how is the battery life?
The mali400 is the only thing i'm not so happy about. (Oh, and the lack of camera flash).
I was hoping that the note 8 would be a complete upgrade in every area over my HTC Sensation.... But from what I've been able to gather - the Adreno220 in my Sensation is superior to the mali400...
I haven't been able to find any real world evidence of superior performance online though... I guess I'll just have to wait till I actually have a Note 8.0 and do the tests myself.
Would love to hear some feedback regarding the Mali 400.
My feeling is that with current software it's not really an issue. But I fear the note 8.0 / Note 2 will start showing the age of their gpu in the next couple of years.

Every game I've thrown at this thing has done just fine. I'm not sure what a good benchmark game is, but I've not noticed any issues, lag, or performance issues in any title.
In regards to battery life, I've honestly not been paying attention. It's been good enough that I've not had to think about it with extremely heavy use throughout the day.

Oh! That is helpful thank you.
Have you tried putting it up to 800?
Is it me or does the note 8.0 feel warm on the back (bottom left)? I downloaded system tuner and it is reaching 50-55° C ON CPU by simply browsing the internet or just having the screen on. Also, if I put my ear close to where it feels warm I hear this hissing sound (very faint but noticeable). I dont get this same effect on my note 2. Otherwise, I love this tablet!

I have owned the xoom, Asus transformer, Nexus 7, and now the Note 8! this is by far the best in my opinion! I've only owned it for 2 days but have found more use for it than all the others! I find it actually makes things easier! The only down side is a small creak I've found in the back part of the casing next to the Micro SD card slot! By the Way, I wrote all this with the s pen and my own hand writing!

That very much sounds like your tablet is defective. Hissing is usually a failing componentof some sort. I would take that unit in for an exchange.
My note 8 is completely silent, and produces no heat that I can feel.

Xperia ZL or Galaxy S3?

I found a deal that would get me a Galaxy S3 or an Xperia ZL at the same price, the S3 is new, and the Xperia ZL is a used one. I've been having many problems with my Galaxy Nexus lately and am looking for a suitable replacement.
Which one is a better option?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
If ZL is in good condition then you can go for Xperia ZL becoz you will get latest tech spec compare S3, and S3 is now year old device..........
However, Galaxy S3 has an SAMOLED screen (far better blacks and far batter viewing angles), replacable battery and a way bigger developer community. It depends what you expect from your phone.
I had to face the same decision and decided to get the Xperia ZL for the Full HD resolution and hopefully better lifetime of my screen (SAMOLED screens tend to get worse over the course of years).
Greetings
Yeah, coming from a Galaxy Nexus, I was searching for a phone with a great dev support. I like everything about the S3 except the design. And I like the ZL because of it's newer innards and FullHD screen, but I've heard that it's really washed out, color wise..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
yeah the display appears washed-out when you don't look directly into the screen but in real life it does't matter much at least for me now its depend you...... i had same problem choosing between this phones but i wanted latest spec so that i can have good gaming experience as well as watching video on 5" Full HD screen its too Good, you can compare both phone online that may help you.....
Get ZL if its in good condition.
Its better than s3.
But just make sure ZL is not opened and repaired...before
Sent from my C6502 using xda premium
Well actually i came from S3, i love the viewing angles, and battery replace. but i decided to buy the ZL and let me tell you. ZL its like 1000 times better than S3 in terms of support, hardware, and even quality and design, viewing angles i dont really care, its not that bad at all. the truth is that the screen it the best screen i have seen on a phone, really 441 pixel per inch and a 5'? wow in a compact design even much smaller than S3.
In other words, go for the ZL if the phone is in excelent condition and never had been opened.:good:
Yeah, I went to a nearby shop and got a hands on of the ZL, really nice phone.
What's the battery like? Screen on with 3g?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
With 3G I'd say 3-4 hours but WiFi I get around 5 hours max.
Screen pixels are awesome but energivore. You'll get used to it tho.
The Sony UI is also a huge bonus over vanilla Android UI. At first I was annoyed by it but now I feel like I'm really using my Android phone for real.
I'd go for the ZL. It feels much better than the S3, and looks much better, too. On top of that, you get a better processor (Snapdragon S4 vs Exynos 4412), a better graphics chip (Adreno 320 vs Mali 400), and twice the amount of RAM (1 GB vs 2 GB). On top of that, you get a full HD screen. There have been complaints about the viewing angles, but I'd say the viewing angles are not as bad as they are made out to be. Viewed top-down, though, the display is really, really good. For some reason--and I've observed this on a couple of units--the ZL's display is better than the Z's (I've actually got to evaluate both side by side with a Z).
So, if the ZL's in pristine condition, I'd say you go for it. Otherwise, if it's been "damaged" to some extent--you know, scratches and stuff--opt for the S3. Because personally, I wouldn't go for a damaged phone, no matter how good it might be specs-wise, and neither would I advise anybody to. That said, if you're going to be using your device heavily, and there's the need to carry around a spare battery, then it's obvious the S3's the best bet for you. So, weigh up your options, see what you need. If you're going to be carrying around a spare battery for backup, you're good with the S3. Otherwise, I'd definitely pick the ZL over the S3.
S3 is good, but ZL it's better, for me. :good:
Zl user here.. I was in similar confusion, well the chose zl over one x plus and s3 mainly its full hd display, I agree that viewing angles are not that great but normally the colors of the display cone out really well, camera though there is a problem with over compression and macro, it gives better results with manual settings, ir blaster is added feature, hardware wise its good too, not too old either. And frankly receiving updates faster than other companies. With every updates its improving, battery is better than s3 for sure. Interface is simple yet beautiful, no bloatware, I have tried most of the high end games, there is a heating issue.
Conclusion at this point of time I would buy zl over s3 or one x plus, or wait for mini version of z1

Note is different kind of phone. Bigger screen, s pen, these are some added features, which is not there in any of these phones discussed. And all of these are priced at similar range. my suggestion, go to a store use all these phone side by side pick the one you like most, if you are routine phone switcher consider note 2 as is got good resale price of all these phones.

Galaxy Grand is it a good phone?

hi
iam planning to buy the galaxy grand is it a good phone?
what i am seeing in the internet says it's not a bad phone
however what about the performance in gaming?
i am not a heavy gamer i'm just asking
also the battery is it good?
I will just give a quick pros and cons based on my a few months of usage
Pros:
5" screen, dual SIM, decent battery life, removable battery, micro SD slot, affordable price.
Cons:
Processor is slow for today's standard (about the same performance as Galaxy S2 and S2 plus)
Touchwiz (in my opinion) is badly implemented and hinders the full potential of this device.
Low res screen despite its large size.
About gaming experience, I can't say much cause I don't have a heavy game (such as Asphalt 8 or GTA SA)
If you can sacrifice the dual SIM functionality, then you may want to ditch Touchwiz and flash one of those AOSP-based ROMs to give the device some massive performance boost.
If you want to buy for Galaxy Grand 2.. Then go for it.. Because Grand 2 is much better than Grand..

Watching videos and listening to music on Galaxy Grand is quite good.. I have watched many HD videos on Grand and Expected price of Grand 2 is about approximately around USD 360 between USD 380. .
thanks maybe i'll wait
but if it was going to cost me alot when it arrives here in Jordan
i will go with the Original Galaxy Grand
ok another Q
what about battery drain?
when you watch a movie will it be consumed very quickly or what?
can you give me your feedback on this?
For me I like it
Battery is good , gaming for me I'm little playing but it's good if I play games..
About your last question
You mean the battery consumed quick during a movie ?
If it is, so for me nope it's good

yes that
then i will pick the grand in the next 2 days because today is holiday here
thanks everybody
last Question
any Custom roms here
have an arabic support?
The original Grand's price will significantly drop when Grand 2 released... But from what I've seen on papers, the spec doesn't make that much difference. The screen is larger (at 5.2", not suitable for one handed usage, even 5" is already too much) and more expensive (about 50-80 USD more) and it will ship with the same bloated Touchwiz albeit higher android version.
Some things to consider when choosing between Grand, Grand 2, or a different phone altogether...
About Arabic support... I have no idea about that.

CM does have Arabic support AFAIK
Also you can add language support to any ROM by using a xposed module by wanam

At this point I would not recommend you to buy galaxy grand because it has become old and screen is average in 300USB you can get much better phones like the MOTO G which has a quad core cpu plus a 720p display and it also has 4.4 official update. It's not a wise move to get grand now, either buy grand 2 or any other phone or buy galaxy S3 which is still awesome now. Through bargaining you can get it at around 340-350USB. Reconsider before buying grand
sadly here in jordan prices to high for smart phones
also we don't have moto here and when the grand 2 hits market here it will be atleast 500USD
and the Grand 1 Will Disappear from the market like what happened to Galaxy S2

in that case u can surely go for grand.....if high end games are not much of a priority for you..........with cm based roms(albeit with single sim only ) would do wonders for your phone like majority of ppl here wud agree.........
but @goku15 was right to some extent..u can go for bargaining a S 3 .my friends have both S2 and s3 they are all on aosp roms.and they are mighty happier........by the way grand is not that bad i must say............

the 1 thing i realised after taking galaxy grand...no matter what happens, never take a phone with less resolution....
i would sincerely recommend u not to take galaxy grand...trust me..resolution matters alot....atleast to me...its not just about gaming mahn..its about every custom roms u implement.... ppi low phone is smthing u better avoid... it mere luck that we got some of the amazing developers here who have made kitkat available...but seriously... u shouldnt take it...... one of the 2 reasons cm is never out officially for this device is no broadcomm source codes available..and low ppi...all icons are big....everything is so big and not finishing......resolution matters...moreover..no OTG till date...lesser the chances in future too....video playback is good but its common now to play videos in hd on almost every cell phone....!!
i know respected developers have made a lot of things possible on our device... but in my advice... don't...
i had option between this and nexus 4....i took this coz of screen size...and it was one of biggest mistake...... truly speaking man... no hard feelings........
ppi matters in every single thing..quality of ur rom and also games and apps and do on video at some point... i wud suggest wait for a while and search for a better option..moto g wud be better in this race if u confused..u can check it out...
or i can suggest you too...
if sm1 don't like my opinion then no hard feelings..but trust me..using it and i know it at sm point!.
Now i am a little confused
as i told you before the Motorola in my country is expensive
and the only devices is High End
i'm mid-range and games don't matter to me that much
the only choice i can go for a Sony but i don't like sony that much
this the website that i use for price references
http://ebuyjo.com/store/Mobile-phones/Sony-mobile?page=2
i'm up to 250JD
what do you think? can you pick me something in that range from that website?

Hello Friends, I am planing to buy Note 3 Neo, i stay in India. Could a few of you guys give an honest review about this device, i am currently using a sony xperiaP but battery has been my major concern.
IS IT WORTH THE BUY.
I liked the battery and the thin device. Camera not a big requirment. ANY KNOWN BUGS?
Hoping it hasba smooth UI and there is no lag or stuttering.
Any other alternates to this device that you guys suggest.
Awaiting your valuable inputs.

It is worth the buy.. it is lag free and smooth.. just dont upgrade it to 4.4.2 or few important features would go away.. use the 4.3 which is provided out of the box..

I agree. It's a good performing device. I barely find lags and you may find a lot of people complaining about the Hexa core processor but don't let that get you down. It comes with something called 'Heterogeneous Multi-Processing' which means all six cores (four 1.3GHz cores and two 1.7GHz cores) can be active at the same time so you can get more done with heavy applications. It also saves battery by activating only the two 1.7GHz cores for other normal less intensive applications thus saving battery.
Doesn't get very hot and the battery life is amazing.

YES indeed i like this phone. I check it out in a store, its good to hold and has a good feel about it, just that problem of rebooting while charging is what every onentalks abt, hope samsung wont abandon this device with regards to software development. And i read abt your issue too ashwin.
The current price m getting this phone is amazing 24000Rs. Any other phones that u guys suggest in that price range.
Thank you for you feedback.
You can get for less than 24K..local mobile shops offer discounts.. you could easily get it between 22.5Kto 23K.. just dont buy from samsung smart cafe or you will have to pay the whole 24K amount..

No other phone with these great specs is available in this price range except micromax and the others which shouldn't be opted for.. moto x is okay too but then the gen 2 is gonna launch and it doesn't have the expandable storage ..

I've been using the phone for over 3 months now and have never had that rebooting problem. Only the WiFi and Bluetooth isn't turning on, which is apparently a problem with the antenna. You can get the phone online for much cheaper but make sure you get the one with manufacturer warranty.
If I had to buy a phone in that range today, I'd go for the OnePlus One. It's available only in the US right now, and I know a lot of friends who have already purchased the using a trans-shipment service like PPOBOX. Check it out.
My views:-
Most of the mobile in Market having fix memory card & non detachable battery.
Samsung is the only phone and market leader which gives all options and advantages.
Phone battery is good no doubt however it is depends what you are doing with your phone.
You can expect an extended battery in near future or else you easily carry an extra battery if you are a heavy user.

But what I observed is that the BT and wifi issues have happened only in the international n7502 version and not the indian n750 version.. but if you buy a phone with the manufacturer warranty as stated by ashwin, you wont have to worry at all..
and yeah one plus one is officially coming to India after October. So if you could wait till then you can get the One Plus too..

Thank you for ur input guys, actually i have a 5.5k discount voucher of reliance digital so this phone would cost me like 19.5k and i think that would be the deal clincher as far as the costing goes, i also read about the hexa core device and its performance is commendable. That motherboard issue of reeboting while charging may be an issue in some devices. So i think i will go forward with this device. Looking forward to join you guys here soon.
