Any problems? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

So I'm thinking about picking up a galaxy note 8.0. Just wondering if anybody has run into any issues or problems with the device?

The only problem I got is that I can't leave it alone
The screen is very bright and colorful
The battery life is good
The performance is great
it charges in a few hours so you can go back to use it

In terms of experience ruining, game breaking, regret inducing, where-is-my-receipt sorta problems, nothing as of yet. I've only managed to come up with a tiny list of minor annoyances (like the position of the speakers and accidentally hitting the back button while in landscape), but nothing that's pushed me over the edge. In fact, of all the Android tablets I've owned (Xoom, Nook Color, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Nexus 7, Transformer TF300T), this is hands down the most useful and practical I've owned.

So how is the battery life? I.e. how long of continuous use before needing to charge?

I really like tee tablet and it is a considerable upgrade to my N7 in every way, even without considering the s-pen functionality.
But since you asked for quibbles, here are two....
In my experience, the IR blaster weak enough that to call it a "blaster"us misleading. More of an "IR crawler".
If you are a really big fan of Hulu (I've met one person), the Hulu app has a framerate stutter at the moment (but the ads are silky smooth).

After nearly a week of use I have no real quibbles. The biggest one is I hate the stock lockscreen but that... that is changed easily enough. So far the device is very responsive and snappy, has less lag with pen input than my note 10.1, and the screen while not the highest resolution by any means looks very, very nice!

With the official book cover, I just turned it off completely. Not normally something I do with my devices, but it seems to work on the this one quite well.

Can you please tell me the Speed or Frequency of the Mali 400MP GPU of Note 8?
Is it same as Note 2 or S3?

How is the gaming performance of Note 8? Can you play all latest games with out any lag with good frame rates?
Also how is the battery life?

The mali400 is the only thing i'm not so happy about. (Oh, and the lack of camera flash).
I was hoping that the note 8 would be a complete upgrade in every area over my HTC Sensation.... But from what I've been able to gather - the Adreno220 in my Sensation is superior to the mali400...
I haven't been able to find any real world evidence of superior performance online though... I guess I'll just have to wait till I actually have a Note 8.0 and do the tests myself.
Would love to hear some feedback regarding the Mali 400.
My feeling is that with current software it's not really an issue. But I fear the note 8.0 / Note 2 will start showing the age of their gpu in the next couple of years.

Every game I've thrown at this thing has done just fine. I'm not sure what a good benchmark game is, but I've not noticed any issues, lag, or performance issues in any title.
In regards to battery life, I've honestly not been paying attention. It's been good enough that I've not had to think about it with extremely heavy use throughout the day.

Also if possible can you check the speed or frequency of Mali 400Mp in Note 8? I dont no how to check.
Just want to know wether NOte 8 has Mali 8 as same or higher speed than Note 2 or S3 ?

Here you can see default speeds of the mali 400 mine is at 640mhz on the N2

Oh! That is helpful thank you.
Have you tried putting it up to 800?

Is it me or does the note 8.0 feel warm on the back (bottom left)? I downloaded system tuner and it is reaching 50-55° C ON CPU by simply browsing the internet or just having the screen on. Also, if I put my ear close to where it feels warm I hear this hissing sound (very faint but noticeable). I dont get this same effect on my note 2. Otherwise, I love this tablet!

I have owned the xoom, Asus transformer, Nexus 7, and now the Note 8! this is by far the best in my opinion! I've only owned it for 2 days but have found more use for it than all the others! I find it actually makes things easier! The only down side is a small creak I've found in the back part of the casing next to the Micro SD card slot! By the Way, I wrote all this with the s pen and my own hand writing!

That very much sounds like your tablet is defective. Hissing is usually a failing componentof some sort. I would take that unit in for an exchange.
My note 8 is completely silent, and produces no heat that I can feel.
Best of luck!

Ditto, noticed some warmness after playing games. Polaris can warm it up too, but I haven't been able to get it warm with Power Saving on.

Just bought it to support the development. Definitely a lot of updates have been occurring. I think not before long we'll have a stable version. (fps is like 10 or lower on many games.)
Developer is also very supportive. He answers emails fast.
It looks wonky
They have buttons on top of much of the lower screen which screws with the touch screen
Also the horrible fps
We are not ready for a new emulator yet
Maybe with the next gen of phones but not this one

There's a toggle at the top that hides the bottom of the screen if you need the touchscreen. The phones can handle it, once it's optimized. I'm holding out, the s4 krait is a monster.
But what if you need both buttons and screen
Also there was another Ds emu back in the GS1 days I believe

I don't think there's many games that have that.
There's very active development for another NDS emulator.
http://jeffq.com/blog/nds4droid/
Also the one in the title has been updated a few times too. It's getting much smoother and it'll only take a few more updates to finally be playable.

I am disappointed in nds4droid. Now it's release 11, but speed remains as release 1. The developer just worked on UI, which is great, but the real issue is speed. It appears the guy did even try to improve speed. Without speed improvement, who really cares about UI. I am sure XDA developers know what is critical, and UI should be left for average developers.

Same, but they're both off different emulation cores. One of them will have a breakthrough in which emulation speeds will greatly increase. The free one appears to get more updates but I have hope in Dsoid.
update 1.9.9 is pretty good ..
I cant play pokemon pearl (or even SS and HG) on full speed,
but it actualy goes much faster then nds4droid on my xperia P.(1ghz dual)
The speed is good enough if you have a little bit of patience.
and the battles in both pokemon games are even faster! I guess on 45-50F/s.
I think if the developer spends some time on it he might could get this emulator at "almost" full speed.
Nds4droid is getting a lot more support in. Kind of wish I didn't purchase dsoid.

From Galaxy S III to iPhone 5..... to Note II? I need some opinions

Hi!
So, the thing is, that this summer, I got the GT-I9300, and was very happy with it. Late in December, I drowned it by accident, but luckily my insurance covered it, so I could afford a new phone. Being somewhat tired of not getting a fully working CyanogenMod10 because of the lack of Exynos-sources, I decided to pick another brand and/or model.
After some thinking, I landed on the iPhone 5. I was happy with my choice, for a while. I experienced a lot of small issues tho. When I turned it on, it wouldn't connect to my WiFi, so I had to connect it to my computer, and small annoyances like that. When I had set it up properly, adding accounts and such, things were starting to behave the way I wanted. Until I had a WiFi problem. Again. The connection would drop (speed would go ridiculously low), but the icon was showing full signal strength. After some googling, I found out that this was a common problem, and that many people had been getting replacements without any help. This made me want another phone, (I expect things like WiFi to be fully working when you buy a device this expensive), because waiting for an update fix from Apple could potentially take forever.
Since I wasn't noticed about all these issues when buying the phone, and when it's behaving this abnormal with a feature this critical (WiFi is one of the most important features for me), I might be eligible for return my iPhone in trade for another brand or model.
This leads me to my questions. Have anyone here had and iPhone or SIII and then bought the Note II later? What's you opinions regarding user experience, general OS "smoothness", and features?
When I had the SIII, the sources were an important part for me (though I didn't know SIII had no proper sources before I bought it). How is that on the Note? I know the Note II doesn't have the sources either, but how is the overall experience compared to the S3? Does it have the small "hiccups" the S3 had?
(Contacts and Phone opening lag and stuff like that). I'd really like to know, especially from former iPhone and SIII-owners.
(Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, though I thought this might be the place for getting opininons from Note II-owners.)
I had s3, didnt like it because of some lag, 1 gb ram isnt enough for s3 with touchwizz. Note 2 seems to be perfect for me, had a lot of high end devices but note 2 atm best for me. But to be honest i didnt try iphone 5 but im thinking about buying it. Because atm im owning ipad mini and it is extremely smooth with even a lot of worser hardware than iphone 5. Just one thing bothers me about iphone 5, small screen damn it... XD
I had an iphone 5 for a week and then gave it to my sis as present and bought a note 6 days back. Well if your worried about network issues you wont have any with thd note 2, in terms of the ui and screen quality i belive it beats the iphone 5. Performance is great as long as your not gaming gameloft games. Play any hardcore games and you wont like the heat its way hotter than an iphone 5 while gaming only. Other than that the phone is reallly good never ever heats up.
1 excellent thing about the note is how fast it charges and the battery life. The iphon 5 is horrible when it comes to chargin, but also has amazing battery life. The iphone 5 shud be ur number 1 choice only if your a hardcore gamer otherwise the note 2 is a beutiful phone with great performance. Hope this helps.

Emmm no offence, but will hardcore gamer play games on 4" screen? Lol i dont think so. Hardcore gamers choose ipad or atleast smartphones with bigger screen than with 4"
Haha none taken i agree the screen is too small but i only mean in terms of optimization i found games more enjoyable on it and smooth.

Yes also why i chose the samsung phones over iphone , the screen needs to be big adn handy in hand something samsung just proved the could and its a must too seee streams and other media smoother and readable something they ALSO improved ones again . its just great i feel like i am on extacy at times i think about it hehe
I had the iphone 4. Sleek and sexy device but I had to charge it at least twice a day and phone gets really hot. Switched to note 1. Loved the screen size but battery life isnt any better.
Got the s3 non lte. The development support for the s3 is awesome. So many roms, kernels, themes and mods to choose from. However im extremly dis satisfied with the screen size. Battery life was decent 5hrs screen time on average. In the end I gave it to my girlfriend and decided to take the plunge.
I was very skeptical of getting the note 2 at first due to extreme limited development especially the Lte version. But after using it for 2 weeks. I have no regrets. Amazing battery life and no lag or what so ever on stock odexed rom. There isnt a need for a custom rom anymore!
Ive just gotten the 4.1.2 update for my country and im going to root it to use couple of tools for a better experience. Awesome phone!

Yeah, I can see why you are considering it because it is indeed very smooth. Screen size is not a very big deal for me though (I get used to new sizes very quickly), switching from SIII to iP5 was no problem. Getting rid of the pentile display was a plus tho

I'm not much of a gamer, just more like Granny Smith, Cut the Rope-type of games. So I'll be fine in that matter. Imo the iPhone charges very quickly, at least when i compare it to the SIII.

I agree very much about the development section for the I9300. It was awesome, but it was still disappointing that with every new version of ROMs, there occurred a new problem. But no performance tweaks are really necessary? Especially the Perseus kernel is tempting. One of the best kernels available for the SIII, and when it's there for Note II as well... It makes it hard to decide.
And do you guys have money to just give away a phone that expensive? That's insane :silly:
How's the Note's build quality? I really like the metal/glass design on my current phone, and the SIII felt more like some plastic toy in comparison... Does anyone know if there is any significant difference between the SIII and NII?
Also, I'm not really sure why I want the Note... It's so appealing to me in a strange way... I think I kinda miss the open file system, and being able to fix my phone's problems on my own.
I purchased the Note 2 first, then after 3 weeks I purchased the iPhone 5.
I was loving the Note 2, still do, regardless of it's charging issue, but I love my iPhone more. I've never compromised with quality, and that's why I will always use an iPhone. It really doesn't matter how many haters you'll find here, but how much YOU actually will love it.
About smoothness? Lol. How could you compare Android with iOS in terms of smoothness, or fluidity? Sorry, I can't.
At the end, well, you don't have an iPhone? You don't have an iPhone.

There should be a limitation on a mobile phone's screen size/body size. Imo, Note 2's 5.5" is already pushing it, any bigger will have a farewell from my end.
These stuffs will be carried in people's pockets and elsewhere, and this is not a laptop or netbook.

My wife has an S3, so I've found chance to mess with it as said before, it has a low ram for such device. Running quite laggy. My brother just have bought an iphone 5 and I've messed with that too. After using a note for 1.5 years and now note 2, iphone' s screen size came very small.
However tried and compared camera (note 2 is significantly better), lag, processing things and tasks etc. So after all stayed at note 2. It is the best hand device in the market in my opinion now. Whatever I was looking for, I've found on note 2. Even the screen size. It's all completed itself.
So, my two cents. If I born today once more, I'll buy note 2 once more.

I've heard the iPhone 5 camera is better than the Note II. Similarity, without even having used the iPhone 5, I can assure you it is smoother than any Android device.
Personally I've got a Note II, and I'm reasonably happy even though I miss HTC Sense UI and can't find any other launcher or widgets which compare to it.
Any sort of lag bothers me, and I would probably get an iPhone if the screen was at least 4.3" and it wasn't so expensive.

Ive read mixed reviews on the camera, but in general I think the iphone 5 was sharper from memory.
Ive only used an iphone 5 a few times but the camera was quite nice. Although the first one I used the camera was faulty and wouldnt start haha.
Overall all it is smoother than any android I've used, but still lags and jitters itself at times. The one I used also had wifi problems.
No phone is perfect. To each his own.

What many people used to going straight to AOSP or CM with their phones will say, is that touchwiz is actually tolerable on the note 2, mainly because of the phone's power. I've grown to appreciate all the stock features, something I'd never thought in my wildest fantasies.
After removing bloatware and using a custom tweaked stock rom, i found the note 2 lag free a couple of days after I got it. Still is. Disabling scrolling cache fixes lag from poorly optimized apps like Tapatalk, what many people refer to as micro lags.

Hi
Please could you explain what you mean by "disabling scrolling cache" and how you go about doing it? I would very much like to get rid of any lag in apps like Tapatalk and Whatsapp.
Thank you

I am not aware of it as a standalone mod yet, so you'll have to flash omega rom and find the mod in its repository. Have no idea if it's rom specific.

Not sure if this helps but if ur phone is rooted then install a cpu control program like setcpu and change the value for max cpu to 1ghz or 1.2ghz. Still runs buttersmooth in nova 3 or mc3 and doesnt heat up as bad. Warm... not hot.

First Impressions after going crazy over my Pre-Order

The Note 3 is very fast and Buttery Smooth like the HTC One's Span dragon 600 processor but even a bit faster with the 800
I wish there was a way for the camera settings to stick when you change them like ISO.. if you do auto for taking pictures.. especially in low light, the pictures will look terrrrible! you need to set ISO to 800 or 400
The speakers are quite frankly a disappointment.. the note 2's speakers are indeed better so you can imagine how the htc one trounces the speakers in quality.. really really not sure what samsung was thinking when downgrading the speaker quality
The front facing camera quality is also not Good.. the note 2's front facing camera was good but the color production was pretty bad... the front camera on the note 3 is gritty and the saturation levels are so bland
Im thankful for the auto correct on the keyboard but its very here and there.. not as good as some other options but it's OK and i find myself using it more than i used the stock keyboard on the note 2
Vibrate feedback on the device is just ok.. htc and Motorola does a better job with the vibrate feedback.. on the note 3 it feels slightly weak and on some other devices you can feel the heft of the feedback if that makes sense.
The Spen is clearly more accurate to the touch than the note 2.. i happen to have need penmanship and it does show when i write with the Spen
The many software options on the note 3 may take up space but the good thing is that you can disable the apps or turn them on or off so they arent runnning.. the battery is really really really good on this damn phone Heavy use and 4 hours and 5 minutes with the screen on and the battery is at 43 percent. I think i can get a good 7 hours screen on time or more so with all these apps on the device, they dont seem to wear down the battery even though i know the battery life would be even better without all of these features... i actually like all the stuff on here.. human get bored quickly and having customizations options on your phone is a top notch plus!
O did i say the speaker was on my last nerves? lollll ... it's a little better than the nexus 4, LG G2 and Galaxy Nexus speakers but if the quality was degraded any further, it would be on par with those. (no disrespect to yall phones.. just giving an honest overview)
For those that says the Leather like material feels like plastic... well hey.. thats their hands and i cant tell them any different but for ME, it does feel like Leather..maybe Pleather lol..Feels like a Leather Wallet's material..i really like it and i found that the phone does not get hot like the note 2 did at times or even the Nexus 4.. good job Samsung
The Multi-Window Feature was improved and much easier to navigate!
The device is clearly the epitome of what Project Butter should stand for ... the battery is an addictive thing to own... and this phone is a phone to keep... however, will i be keeping it myself? if i can tolerate these speakers with using earphones more often and if samsung sends an update to iron out some settings sticking in the camera app then I'm on board for keeping this sucka for a while!
If you have questions, I can try to answer for you. thanks and if there are any grammatical errors, excuse me.. i dont feel like going back to correct them all lol
Hey, this may be kinda off topic but how does the snapdragon 800 compare to the 600 in daily use? I'm thinking either about the s4 or note 3 but leaning towards s4 cuz of the price..

You're fine.. I was saying how the HTC one was really smooth with the 600 and there's a tiny bit of speed added in the 800..its not tremendously significant but they're both very good

Noticable difference for sure. I have noticed many things take far less time. When I used Nandroid Manager to restore my apps from the Nandroid I had made on my S4 it took half the time that it did on my S4 usually. All across the board things are so much faster on this then the S4.
Thanks for the mini review. I'm really glad they brought auto-correct back, maybe Samsung struck a deal with Apple or something.
As for the speaker, as long as it's louder than the LG G2 I'm okay, the G2's speaker was horrendous.

The biggest difference in the 2 SoC's are they cores they use. The 600 uses Krait 300 cores, while the 800 uses krait 400 cores. The krait 400 cores are a higher clock speed out of the box, as well as faster L2 cache. Let's also not forget your getting the Adreno 330 vs the 320, which also offers a bump in frame rates on things.
I would assume the 800 would be able to OC higher as well. Depending on the bin of the chip and voltages.
Also the 800 supports 4K video recording, granted its really gimmick at the moment, and the 600 does not.

Thanks a lot for that info. I just got by feel.. Might be better if I had then side by side but the HTC one is no joke when it comes to speed and this note 3 just takes it up a notch as benchmarks show but there are all types of conspiracies out about samung and the benchmark thing but I just go by feel and you can experience the fluidity instead of seeing numbers

Both are good chipsets. On paper the 800 is better. But that doesn't mean in really life it is. As you said, real world feel. I know when I played with note 3 at my store, it was faster than my 2 that's for sure.
Definitely faster than the note 2. Noticeably

Daily usage you will be fine with either but if you play higher end games note 3 plays them smoother like mc4 or dungeon hunter 4. But if you don't want lag and 32 gb storage note 3 is the way to go.

Is the tab pro right for me?

I've been in the market for a new tablet, as my old one (tegra 2 iconia a500) is struggling to hold more than a couple hours' charge. I'm on the fence between the galaxy tabs S and Pro (8.4'')
I'll explain my usage, and what I'm hoping are not-too-high expectations. I am a gamer, first and foremost. (More on that in a bit) I haven't been on twitter for ~2 years or Facebook for almost one. I use hangouts all the time, and spend a lot of my time away from a charger. I had an s5 for awhile which made moving my PSP library from discs to data very fun. That sort of fun got me something like 6 hours of screen on time, playing PSP on 80% brightness. I hope to get AT LEAST that on my tab, without any lag of course (I do NOT use frameskip.) I already know real racing 3, shadowgun, dead trigger 2, and n.o.v.a. 3 run JUST FINE. Heck, my dual core phone can run those just as well as the s5, so I'm not even considering that those games will give either tablet a hard time.
What I'm seeing are tradeoffs back and forth across the board. I'll try to avoid mentioning what everyone knows they have in common.
Tab S- heart stopping screen, better battery life, great speaker placement, BUT... A "select few" get far too hot, and those few have warped back panels. That one makes me cringe. I had one of the "select few" s5's whose camera completely ****** itself. Unfixable. Samsung blames me.
Tab Pro- more stable development, practically same SOC as s5 (800 vs 801, I did some research) so plenty fast compared to the tab S. But worse battery life, I'm told the screen is dull, samsung seems to have dropped this like a hot potato so future support is grim (not that it matters much if you have CM) and bad speaker placement
I got to hold a tab s 8.4 and the screen blew me away. Until I found out about the exynos 5420, I thought I'd just held the replacement to my phone AND tablet. I've never seen a tab pro, but that's the direction I'm leaning in right now. I would have ended this essay at "I'm a gamer, and real racing 3 is child's play" but I think that others like me can benefit from the points I've made and what I ultimately choose.
I apologize for even having to ask you guys this question. I don't make much so it takes a long time to save for something like this. I just want to make sure I make the right choice. Please, feel free to say why/why not for the tab pro 8.4
Thanks in advance, xda.
Final note: I guess the shield is a contender also, but a "warm, faded screen", bad camera, and 4-ish hour screen time is a turnoff.

I am an Tab S owner and I own the 10.5 one. What I can tell you is that yeah it does get hot right around the camera during gaming. As far as development, the Tab S 8.4 WiFi version is getting official cm12 from what I heard. The unofficial works fine on it too with little problems. As for the warp issue, that was only affect ed on the ones made before launch. The issue has been fixed I guess since there hasn't been any reports of it since last year. Um if you keep the brightness at 50% and you play games, you'd probably get 4-5 screen on time since you said you play games. I'd suggest you look at the battery results in the tab s threads. The screen is amazing but may kill a lot of battery in your case. As for the tab pro, other users will need to report on that since I don't own it. The tab s is gonna definitely gonna have lag out of the box unless you install a custom ROM then it won't. If you have any questions about the tab s ask me. Since I own the bigger model, the 8.4 has a similar experience in lag and all that
Hey, I read alot of stuff in the forums from you, and you're pretty well-informed, I'm glad you found this! The peak of what I need from this device that a person might have laying around is metal gear solid peacewalker for psp. If you (or anyone) could rip a copy of it, and run it on ppsspp with 2x PSP resolution and no frameskip, I'll be able to purchase a tab s mostly without worry. Also, as a personal favor, could you see if a conductive metal key or something gets the touchscreen to react in gloves/high sensitivity mode? I used a crochet needle as a DS stylus on my s5, and got attached

Yeah. I've actually been playing for the past 3 hours! Getting addicted xD Here's a gameplay I recorded. Fps is shown as well. There only seems to be a slight micro lag in loading screens. Other than that its all smooth. There was audio cuts in the video as I was recording. But without recording its all smooth. I also shown the ram usage and switching in between apps. Even though I own the 10.5 inch model, it should still be the same on the 8.4 since the chipsets are the same. You should check out some gaming on the Tab pro BTW. Tab S gameplay https://youtu.be/ZA0zTRWRoIM
I think that sells it for me. And while you were recording? Those a15's can really deliver! When I looked up gaming on the pro, all I ever get is the usual. Dead trigger, rr3, etc.
If you're into rpg's, ppsspp can deliver more than Google play ever could. Jeanne d'arc is a fire emblem-esque game with a great story. FF crisis core is fun too. And persona 3 portable. Ah, I can hardly wait now!

Yes I was recording internally. You may need to turn on a few speedhacks to make it smooth but it works fine. Going into another app then switching back works well too since it has 3gb of ram. Of course I couldn't test any other game since it would take forever to download. So its up to you to decide! I didn't get heat because I was running cm11. I'm not sure if the tab pro is better than the tab s so yeah
I've really got a lot to think about. I'll deliberate carefully until the day comes to finally decide. I don't get new devices often so I've got to make it count

There's no development for those... And att tab s models have locked bootloaders unless you get an international one. I couldn't find a snapdragon model either. I forgot to mention that the build quality is OK on the tab s but the tab pro has a better build quality.

Worth Upgrading from Note 5 to Note 7

Want to know if it is worth upgrading from the note 5 to note 7? If so Why??
In my opinion it's not worth it.. Almost same design. I think the battery will not be better too. The only pro thing is that the note 7 is waterproof.
Gesendet von meinem SM-N910F mit Tapatalk
Yes.
Edge screen looks nice and futuristic and clearly is the way to go for Samsung flagships moving forward.
Waterpoof.
Much better cameras.
Easier to hold one-handed.
Design so much better, very compact for a 5.7" screen phone.
Better battery.
USB type C.
Iris scanner not needed but still cool.
Micro SD card support with the possibility of using it as adoptable storage.
Only downside is it's expensive.
edit:
Forgot to mention that you can also set the screen to 1080p to save substantial battery life if you can't really see the difference between it and 4k. You can even set to 720p if you want.
I feel like the note 5 and S6 were a step in the right direction design wise, and still have great features when it comes to the hardware. If you don't plan on getting your phone wet and have enough internal storage then I wouldn't upgrade. If you like to store a lot on your phone that's the only reason I would upgrade if I were you. Otherwise the camera is still top of the line, the fingerprint scanner is fast& secure, and the phone still has the premium look and feel.
Yes for the sd card slot if nothing else.

4k? I thought it was 1440! But anyway imo it's not worth it at all. What do you gain? Do you have a problem with note 5? If it's performance related note 7 is likely the same or if it's thr purple smudge

Yea my pretty sure my Note5 doesn't have that issue.
About lag, are you asking about the Note7? With my brief time with it in the store, I can say there aren't any lags but of course it may be different when we're actually using it as our own.
To put it in perspective, what motivation will Nexus 6P owners have to upgrade to the 2016 version? It'll have generationally better h/w but what else? Especially considering the OS is/was/will be the same on both devices. Hardware and software has matured so the generational differences between devices get smaller each year. Unless you're a big gamer what apps are going to be noticeably faster between Exynos 7420 and 8890 or Snapdragon 810 and 820? If you want a Note7 and feel like spending the money, get it. If not I'm guessing 90% of what you do on your phone would perform just as well on a Note5. I've personally given up on rationalizing getting a new phone every year. I just chalk it up to a whim because I like the latest and greatest.

If not I'm guessing 90% of what you do on your phone would perform just as well on a Note5. I've personally given up on rationalizing getting a new phone every year. I just chalk it up to a whim because I like the latest and greatest.

Me also.
Nothing to rationize really, if I want a new device i buy one its not like I need to make a list of pluses and minuses or try to justify it..thats ridiculous its a phone not a car. Not a really major expense lol.
In this particular case though for me going from note 5 i do really want the SD support the 7 offers.

I gave up on the note 5 along time ago mainly because of the poor battery life, I went to the s7e and battery is much better. I really like the s7e but will be getting a note 7 as soon as it's out to test the loser will be the back up phone

I upgraded from Note 5 to Note 7 couple of days ago. I am very fond of the Note 7, except the external speaker audio quality. It so high pitched and lacks bass. Note 5 sound is waaaay better and louder

Thats due to the water resistance likely, which for myself is pointless as i am not stupid enough to use my device in a wet enviroment.
I would much rather ditch that and have far better audio quality. Personal preference of course and others seem to find the water resistance important
If the audio is that bad it would be a deal breaker for me and i will send it back.

Want to know if it is worth upgrading from the note 5 to note 7? If so Why??

This sort of question is THE most common on all forum brands. The answer is yes and no. In other words some will upgrade while others are still happily using the note 1. It is a very personal issue and one only you can answer.
Let us know what you decide?
